Character Ponderings of Kitchen Scholar (Ep8&9)

lovefia

Posted on November 6, 2012

What is not to love about Kitchen Scholar? Every episode warms our hearts and makes us anticipate the next hurdle. We are very close to our climax- the inevitable truth about Cha-aim’s identity- and whether the ending will satisfy our avid dedication to this series. What I would say though, is that the romance between Mr. Tum and Cha-aim is so gradual and believable and the character developments for our core cast is well done.

Starting with Mr. Tum, it took one episode (Ep 8)- which is a few days in the lakorn world- for Mr. Tum to decide to throw caution and society’s disapproval to the wind. At first he is a little depressed that he is in love- with a maid to boot- and tries to make her jealous by flirting with Ms. Aon in Chiang Mai, whom he considers as a sister. But it took a risky reminder that life is short and he didn’t want any harm to come to her, that he is propelled to confess his feelings. It doesn’t matter that she is a maid or has questionable moral behaviors, he loves her, accepts her, and is willing to make his family accept her too. If we learn anything about Mr. Tum in these last few episodes, it is that he is a good and decent hero, and a true romantic. Just to reveal his feelings, he contrived to bring Cha-aim to his family’s beach house to get her alone. But even being stranded alone on an island due to a harsh storm, he still couldn’t utter the words. Will he finally find the gumption to profess his love for her? How will he react to the pending revelation that she’s really not a maid, but someone who is absolutely suitable for him? Can he overlook her lies, especially when he promises to persecute anyone who lies to him? Let’s hope he won’t be noble, heh.

Even though he tries to stick to her like glue, Pong is the saddest fellow in this lakorn. Think about it, even though Cha-aim hasn’t reciprocated her feelings for him, she never denied his love. Moreover, one can assume she is leading him on. She tells her parents that he’s just a good friend and that she hasn’t thought that long and hard about who will be her future husband. Pong, as a boyfriend who doesn’t want to lose his girl, attempts any mean necessary to keep her. So I don’t blame him, even though his attempts always backfire. What is sad though is that he is using Ms. Aon as a means to keep Cha-aim. He thinks that if he could hook Mr. Tum and Aon up, Cha-aim will be his. He doesn’t realize that he is worst than Cha-aim: even though she is masquerading as a maid, she never ever plays with people’s emotions. At least with her, what you see is what you get. But at the end of the day, Pong has grown closer to Ms. Aon through his charade and doesn’t realize she is falling for him.

Which brings us to Gubgib’s character, Ms. Aon and I must say that I love her honesty and refreshing attitude, even if she tends to screech a little much. You always know where you stand with her. She is clueless at best, which could be blamed on her mother, who has forced her hand on everything, and in essence took her ability to think independently. But despite that, she is beginning to realize her own emotions (for Pong) and learn that you can’t force someone to love you, no matter how hard you try- as she has been trying to get Mr. Tum to fall for her- just so she could win her mother’s approval for once. Hopefully we get to see Ms. Aon mature and be able to think on her own- well, for the next three episodes anyway. This lakorn is way too short for my liking.

As far as parenting skills, both Khun Cheun and Khun Phi are lacking in that area. It takes a 21 yr old maid to make them aware of their neglect of their parents. To this day they haven’t realized how neglectful they are with their own daughters. How sad. Khun Phi is interested in only researching for his nephew. He’s terrified of his wife and has a laissez faire attitude towards his daughter. Khun Cheun on the other hand is too busy with her social events to discipline her kids or give her kids enough attention to ensure their psychological health is as well as their physical. Like Cha-aim says, people need more than a roof over their heads. They need attention and love. Hopefully this is what the parents will learn.

The person in need of the most self realization though, is Amika or Cha-aim. The obtuse girl is so blindsided by her need to win this competition that she practically does everything to achieve it. Despite that, I like her. She is learning so much about people and life in general by impersonating a maid. She is willing to help others and make others realize what they can’t see. In a way, her presence changed the household. But the biggest question and concern is, has she been changed? Is she going through her own revelations? We know that she keeps thinking about Mr. Tum, that she only considers Pong as a good, close friend and that she has grown to adore the family she takes care of. But as of yet, I haven’t seen a huge character development for her, hopefully we get more of that in the climax. Maybe she just needs time to sort out her feelings? Or perhaps some sort of catalyst will force her to reveal her feelings for Mr. Tum?

The Kitchen Scholar has performed better than I’ve ever imagined. If they continue to make us smile, provide abundant Cha-aim-Mr.Tum scenes, and tie up important questions and show character depth, I could not be more happy. As it stands, this lakorn has already made its way to my heart and I can wholeheartedly say, hats off to Thong Production. For those skeptical of Kim and Mark pairing, I’m sure this lakorn can change your mind.

Now let’s sit back, relax, and watch the final three episodes this weekend. Someone pass the popcorn!

Kitchen Scholar Ep 7

lovefia

Posted on November 6, 2012

Episode 7 catapults some turning points in this drama and interesting altercations. Khun Tum tests out the “3 signs you know you are in love” theory while Pong puts forth all efforts to make Khun Aon appealing to Khun Tum’s eyes in order to keep Cha-aim as his “girlfriend,” while new challenges stumble upon Cha-aim’s path and she must prove herself, once again.

Cha-aim accompanies Tum to his office and she discovers someone who recognizes her and tries to hide behind Tum, which causes some serious cuteness. Then she tries to distract him by saying that her eyes hurt which makes him concerned and he grasps her by the chin to see if he could help. By that time, her acquaintance receives a phone call that takes him away.

Tum is shorthanded at the office, his assistant had recently quit and he didn’t have the opportunity to hire another. While Tum takes a phone call outside, his office phone begins ringing. Cha-aim looks on hesitatingly, but couldn’t help herself and started taking calls for Tum. By the time he comes back, she has already taken half a dozen notes. Tum is impressed with her resourcefulness, but he knew all along that she is a capable person and that maybe no one took a chance on her? He is about to change that.

Once they return to his condo, Tum tells her that she could go home now, he is feeling quite well. But when Cha-aim continues to stall him, he knows something is wrong. He surmises that Khun Aon has forced her to stay, Cha-aim couldn’t argue with the truth so she begs Khun Tum to keep the truth from Khun Cheun. Khun Tum is frustrated that Khun Aon has pulled Cha-aim in her shenanigans. When the night draws near and they had to lie to Khun Cheun that they are finishing up a movie, Khun Tum turns to Cha-aim and chastised Khun Aon. He is surprised however to learn that Cha-aim is not angry at her boss, she understands her. Cha-aim says that Khun Aon should be pitied because she is always forced by her mother to do things she doesn’t want to. This shows Khun Tum that Cha-aim is loyal to a fault and very perceptive.

It is in the wee hours when Khun Aon returns to the condo lobby, but she is reeking with alcohol. Cha-aim drives her home- which surprises Khun Tum that she could drive at all- and calls her “boyfriend” Pong to assist her. Pong carries Khun Aon in his arms and they sneak into the house to deposit Khun Aon in her room. Little did they know that Khun Aoy notices this and decides to tell her mom the next morning that her sister had a man take her to her room. Also that night, Banjong takes a picture of Cha-aim and Pong holding hands and brings it to Khun Cheun’s attention.

Khun Cheun deals with the first case, her daughter being drunk and allowing a man to carry her to her room. Cha-aim defends her boss, explaining that they stayed up watching a movie and Khun Aon was too tired and fell asleep. Cha-aim had to carry Khun Aon to her room. Little Khun Aoy wants them to prove it, so Cha-aim had to lift Khun Aon in her arms, lol. This pisses Khun Aoy off and she stalks away, once again losing to her older sister. The second case is Cha-aim, holding hands with Pong. Khun Aon came to her rescue and says that Pong is gay so there is nothing between them. She even went so far as clearing the air with the maids in the kitchen, explaining to everyone that Cha-aim is not like that.

That afternoon Cha-aim makes peace with Khun Aoy as well, a little girl that is so perceptive at her age, she just needs a little coaxing and someone to talk to her as if she is not a child. Cha-aim tells her that she should empathize with her older sister. She explains that Khun Aon just needs love and attention because she doesn’t have both parents, the way that Khun Aoy does. Khun Aon is only afraid that Khun Aoy will take of the attention and love from their mother. Little Khun Aoy laments that she doesn’t want to fight with her sister all the time either. She has a better understanding of how she should behave around her sister now. And she will try moving forward.

Khun Tum takes a chance and gives Cha-aim the opportunity to be his assistant. Little did he know that he is throwing yet another monkey wrench in Cha-aim’s direction, she is after all, trying to research on being a maid, not an assistant to the secretary. So she and Nong comes up with a plan to deter him, Cha-aim needs to make him believe that she is not fit to be his assistant. Cha-aim proceeds to sabotage any task that Khun Tum hands her way: something as simple as making coffee, talking to his guests or even preparing for his meeting with the minister. But it seems nothing that she could intentionally do can change his mind, until he learns how he truly feels about her. It starts with his best friend Moo or Maa who takes an interest in her and Tum becomes protective and jealous. Then he sees an altercation between Pong and Cha-aim, indicating that there is something more between the two.

It all happens when Pong discovers that Cha-aim has gone to work for Khun Tum. He is furious and afraid he would lose her so he contrived for Khun Aon to bring lunch to Khun Tum, so he could talk to Cha-aim. Once there, a very sad and passionate scene unfolds: Cha-aim and Pong gets into a huge fight. Pong confronts Cha-aim, accusing her of hiding things from him. He tells her he is fed up with what she is doing and is prepared to tell Khun Tum and Khun Aon her real identity. He rushes back to Khun Tum’s office and is about to reveal the truth when Cha-aim slaps him across the face. Ouch. Then slaps him a few more times to stop him from talking. This shocks Pong (and shocks me too) as Pong and Cha-aim puts on such an emotional scene. Pong is crying and stops talking. Everyone watches on with confusion but Pong decides against telling on Cha-aim.

Later that day, Pong waits up for Cha-aim to return home. He apologizes for his actions. Cha-aim tells him that she is trying to get out of working with Khun Tum. Pong says that he is worried about her and afraid that he would lose her. Banjong is eavesdropping and wondering why someone who is gay would say these things to Cha-aim. She is determined to find out what is going on between Pong and Cha-aim.

Pong feels rotten that she is upset at him, it seems there is nothing he could do to make her happy. But he is determined to pair Khun Aon with Khun Tum, it is the only way to ensure that Khun Tum and Cha-aim does not develop any feelings or relationship with one another.

Little did he know that it is already too late. Tum doesn’t realize how he feels about Cha-aim until his mother brings it to his attention. She spots them making eyes at each other and feels inclined to warn him that even though she has rescinded her matchmaking, he still needs to find someone who is suitable for him, his family and position in society. Tum thinks about this before bed and recalls that despite their different status, she takes care of him when he is sick and he has gotten to know her true character. Confused and bewildered at his feelings, he decides to approach his friend Moo about how one should go about determining whether one is in love with someone. Moo explains that there are three signs that will indicate you are in love. Tum puts this to the test.

First, he peaks at her from the door. Cha-aim is falling asleep at the desk, her head nodding back and forth, then it hits the laptop and she gets up with a start. She looks around with embarrassment, but is happy that no one is there to witness it. Tum chuckles at her and remembers what Moo said, whenever you see her, you want to smile, that means you like her. Tum shakes his head. Then as a second test, he stands behind her, his heart beating rapidly. According to Moo, that also shows that he likes her. Tum starts to panic and puts his hand over his heart. He takes a seat behind his desk. After looking at her from across his desk, he decides to test out the final theory. Tum walks over to her and calls her name. Cha-aim stands up and peers at him directly in his eyes. Tum’s face began to turn red, blushing from the eye contact, a third indication that he likes her.

The realization that he is in fact in love, takes him by surprise. It is not an easy pill to swallow, a man needs his grip about him. Tum suddenly trips over his own feet and mourns over the loss of his own heart. When Cha-aim returns back to his office with a glass of cold water, he envisions telling her that he likes her, and his feelings being requited. Lol. But telling someone you like them is no easy feat. So instead of confronting her with the truth, he tells her that he no longer needs her as his assistant. After all, how can you work with someone who makes your heart beat like a hummingbird?

To Cha-aim, she is relieved. But she doesn’t realize the torment that Tum is going through. He is in love and boy is that a great progress in this lakorn!

That night Cha-aim chants to herself that she is here to work! She needs to focus on work! She hasn’t sorted out her feelings because she has such a tunnel vision: her priority is to gather enough research to write her script. So everything else is left in the very back, very deep part of her heart.

Banjong’s character is taking on a downhill turn. She had always been vindictive and jealous but I didn’t imagine that she would be truly evil. But her character seems to be heading that way. She is involved with the neighborhood hoodlum who eventually pitches her to gamble and essentially uses her as their insider for the future robbery.

You can read recaps for Ep 8 and 9 at IHeartLakorns, I will not be recapping those two episodes since Lyn has already done such a good job. However, I would like to offer speculation and ponderings on character and relationship developments in these episodes. So do stay tune for those reflections.

Qi Pao- Quick 1st Impression

lovefia

Posted on November 5, 2012

I get scared easily but funny enough, I watch scary movies anyway. So it’s not surprising that Qi Pao- while watching it at 10pm before bed- gave me some serious chills. It is such a pleasure to see Anne Thongprasom on screen again. It felt like ages since Sood Saneha- I did not watch Chaloey Sak or 365 Days of Love- so I was drinking in her superb acting and beautiful countenance. The biggest surprise though from Qi Pao, is Mart Krissada’s charming face (ok why not call him for what he is, gorgeous) and his improved acting. The role of Jao Ming Tian is quite befitting to him. Overall, I am quite pleased with the first episode and I hope that with Anne having to do anything with it, it will continue to take us on a smooth journey.

Qi Pao is based off a novel by the same writer as Roy Mai, another fabric series. The difference is glaring though because Roy Mai evokes a tale about two couples who has been reincarnated to finish the loom in order to tie up loose ends. Qi Pao on the other hand is very similar to a murder mystery: May Lee, the owner of the Qi Pao forces her look alike, Paeka (Anne Thongprasom) to uncover her killer and bring justice to her death. There’s suspense, mystery and hopefully, lots of romance. I am very curious how Jao Ming Tian and Paeka develop their relationship. Obviously Paeka and May Lee are so different, one is feisty and sharp and the other demure. Even though Jao Ming Tian claims that no one can fare against May Lee, we could already see that he can’t help falling for Paeka’s charm. At the end of the day, Paeka and May Lee is portrayed by Anne so we get double the fun!

Kitchen Scholar Ep 6

lovefia

Posted on November 4, 2012

Nong is in an awkward position. Her two best friends are supposedly dating each other, yet Amika is telling her that she is dreaming about another man while Nong witnesses Pong getting comfortably close with Khun Aon. As a friend, should she say something? Or should she watch this relationship unfold on its own? She stands by the corner of the catwalk stage observing how Amika cheers on Khun Tum while Pong cheers on Khun Aon.

Suddenly Khun Tum is confused and doesn’t follow his queue so Nong prepares Amika for the stage to rescue the show. She hooks her arm around Khun Tum and walks him to each corner of the stage to strike a pose. In the middle of the stage Aim stumbles on her shoes and Tum catches her before she falls, causing everyone to gasp but cheer in the end because they were nose to nose again. The fashion show is a success; Khun Pae tears up at seeing his dream come true.

If there is something that bothers Tum, he is not the type to let it go. He asks Aon who is the “man” with the glasses and Aon explains that he is Cha-aim’s old boss. Tum had recognized him earlier and tried to put a finger on where he met him. And it finally came to him, it is the same face as the previous “old boss” that picked her up from his condo. Tum walks over to the group and says that he thought she would have left to America already. Cha-aim immediately lies that this is Nongni’s twin brother, Nino (lol) and Tum didn’t get another chance to interrogate “Nino” when Khun Pae thanks everyone for helping him today, especially Cha-aim’s group. Cha-aim asks him whether he can be around females now- he says that he wants to get even closer and gives her a hug. He tells her that he hadn’t realized that the sound of hand clapping (for him) could give him so much happiness.

As Cha-aim coordinates the clean up, Tum approaches her from behind.

“Thanks so much,” he says.

Cha-aim looks around her, “Are you talking to me?” she asks in surprise.

“Of course, I didn’t get a chance to thank you yet, you had helped me during the catwalk,” he says.

She smiles, “it’s no problem, it is my duty.” She walks around him.

“Hold on, Cha-aim,” Tum halts her, “I did have one question.”

She turns around.

“Why did you become a maid?” he asks.

“Why are you asking me this?”

“I just think that you could do something that utilizes your skills more,” he explains.
“Why? Are you thinking about hiring me?” she teases.

“Can you take it more seriously? Listen, I can refer you, if you are interested.”

“Thank you,” she says, “but I am satisfied with what I am currently doing right now and have no desire to change.”

He doesn’t buy her answer, “are you really satisfied or is it because you have a different motive for this job?”

Cha-aim spins around, flustering, “Khun Tum! Why are you so suspicious? How much more are you going to find fault with me?”

“Why is it that you think I’m trying to find faults with you?” he retaliates.

“Well because you keep asking so many questions!”

“This is my trait,” he says, “I like clarity. If something isn’t clear, I will make it clear. If you don’t have anything to hide, then you shouldn’t be afraid.”

“I’m not afraid!”

“It’s good you’re not afraid! Let’s just say that if you are looking to change your job, then let me know, I’m happy to help,” Tum says as he walks away, smiling mischievously at her again.

Cha-aim doesn’t know what to make of him.

That night in the servant’s restroom, she chats on the phone with Nong and thanks her for helping her out, yet again. Nong surmises that she and Khun Tum are getting along well now. Cha-aim disagrees. Then Nong says that she could tell because of the way that Khun Tum looks at Cha-aim. The heat rises on Cha-aim’s cheeks and she says that her friend is drunk and should go to bed. Cha-aim hangs up and looks at her face in the mirror and wills herself not to blush. She reminds herself that she is here to work! She gets back to work and summarizes about Khun Pae on her tablet. She has learned from Khun Pae that he is a generous boss who supports and sponsors those he loves. And as the person receiving the end of the stick, one should do the best that one can- and that it is not the only opportunity to do a good job.

The following morning, Aim’s mom calls her to let her know that her father has sent some things for her through his friend (who happens to be visiting Tum and his uncle as well.) Cha-aim gets busted as the older man learns that she is a maid at Khun Cheun’s household. They are standing outside and Tum happens to be looking for someone to bring water to the guest when he sees them through the window. Cha-aim has her finger over her mouth to signal for him to quiet down after she reveals her motives for being a maid. She pleads for him to keep it a secret from her parents. Tum pulls the window open slightly so he could finally hear what they’re saying.

“There is no secret in this world. If the governor finds out that you are enduring hard work like this, he’s not going to stand this.”

Tum whispers “governor” with confusion.

“He loves you very much,” the older man continues, “he has taken care of you, sent you to study higher education, buys a condo for you, buys a car and gives you allowances because he wants you to be happy and comfortable. But you are being a maid?!” the older man sighs.

“Aww uncle,” she says, “I know that he loves me, and I love him very much too. But what else could I do, it is necessary.” She grabs the older man’s wrist, “I beg you, please don’t tell him- please please?”

“Alright,” he finally relents then walks away.

Tum is left to draw his own conclusions. He confronts her a moment later, while she jumps about a foot due to his surprise. He tells her that he saw her talking to Uncle Banchang and asks her if she was acquainted with him. She is speechless.

“So it does look like you know each other.”

She denies it and lies that he was aking for the restroom.

“Don’t lie,” he says, “I heard everything.”

She is exasperated, “why are you so ill-mannered?!”

“Don’t change the subject,” he warns, “I know everything concerning you and the governor now.”

“Khun Tum- listen to me first!”

“I will not! Cha-aim, there are so many good men out there, why do you choose someone who already has a wife?”

“Hold on, what do you mean? What exactly do you think is between me and the governor?”

“It’s what I said-“ he finds it hard to say the word- that he thinks she is the governor’s mistress or side action.

Cha-aim pushes him to say it. When he finally does, she drops her bucket and mop, exasperated at the realization that she is thought of being her father’s lover. Ew. Lol.

“Are you crazy? How can you even fathom the idea?” she exclaims.

“You are crazy! You’re doing things without even thinking,” then he draws another conclusion, “I know now- you are here because you are bored of the governor and now you’re setting your caps on my uncle!”

Indignant, Cha-aim says, “Khun Tum- you ought to write your own lakorn script! You come up with some rotten things!” She tries to walk away.

“Wait! Confess this minute what you’re planning on doing,” he stops her.

“No I’m not doing anything at all, you go on thinking about whatever you want!”

She is so furious she sticks her tongue out at him for a lack of a better gesture. I suppose giving him the finger would be too crude.

Cha-aim takes her anger out on the poor meat on the cutting board. Nark comes shouting into the kitchen that something big has happened. They both run over to Khun Orathai’s house and see the commotion. Her perverted husband is packing his bags and leaving her. She is throwing things at him and he’s yelling that he’s not going to come back. She apologizes and hangs on to his leg but he finally leaves her.

When Khun Orathai wakes up, Cha-aim gets the brunt of the crying. She says that she hates women who are prettier than her, it’s women like Cha-aim that causes her husband to leave her. The next morning she packs a gun in her purse and prepares to see her husband. Cha-aim tries to stop her from leaving the house by pulling at the purse, then the gun falls out and Khun Orathai pushes her away. Cha-aim runs after her and notices Tum’s car pulling into the driveway. He is stopping by to clear the air yesterday, he needs to get to the bottom of her reaction. But Cha-aim is running towards his car with an urgent look on her face.

She tells him they need to chase after Khun Orathai. He says that he won’t leave unless she tells him what is going on. She wonders if they must have a reason for everything, and he agrees. She finally tells him that Khun Orathai is going to shoot Khun Aded and his lover. His reaction is swift; the car immediately swerves out of the driveway.

They reach a restaurant and the two split up to search for Khun Orathai. Cha-aim hears a commotion when the patrons at the restaurant all rush out of it. She follows the sound and calls Khun Tum. They made their way in time to see Khun Orathai pointing the gun at Khun Aded and his young lover. Cha-aim tells Khun Orathai not to consort her life with a bad man like Khun Aded who is a playboy and ugly, she should not regret losing a loser like him. Tum tries to talk her out of it as well and wrestles her for the gun when it lands on the ground. Khun Aded’s lover exclaims that it is a fake gun and they get into a girl fight. Her husband is such a loser. He runs away from the fight. Tum peels Khun Orathai away and Cha-aim and Khun Tum both get slapped in the process. Then Cha-aim pushes the lover to the ground and take on a fighting stance. She tells her to get up and fight her then. Tum is momentarily speechless as he watched her fierce stance.

Back at Khun Orathai’s house, Cha-aim tries to console her. Khun Orathai asks her if she thinks that she is that horrible? Cha-aim glances at the portrait in Khun Orathai’s bedroom and tells her that she used to be a beautiful woman. But she is so focused on trailing her spouse that she forgets how wonderful she is. She doesn’t need to regret losing an abusive person. From now on, she needed to focus on herself and doing things for herself.

Tum waits for Cha-aim in front of the house. He says that if it weren’t for her, things would have gotten more out of hand. Cha-aim gives him a bemused smile. Tum tells her that she is bad too, lol, and takes on her stance at the restaurant. She laughs, and tells him that he’s doing it wrong. Tum says that she must have had problems with people in the past to be so fierce.

Cha-aim tells him that her world is not all pretty roses. He adds does that include being a mistress too? She forgets her place and scolds him, then remembers her place and apologizes. He ignores it and tells her that he wanted to come to an agreement with her regarding her mistress situation. He says that he knows it is her personal issue, but he wants her to stop because what she is doing is wrong. Cha-aim explains that she is acquainted with the governor, but she doesn’t have anything to do with him. She makes up a story that it was long ago, she had some financial problems and the governor and his wife felt sorry for her so they helped her. Tum continues asking her a string of questions (I would too since she’s pulling the answers out of her ass lol.) She finally ends his queries by telling him that she doesn’t think that little of herself to be anyone’s mistress. Tum finally relents and asks, “you’re really not lying to me?” Cha-aim awkwardly tells him that she’s not and crosses her fingers behind her back.

“Fine I’ll believe you then- but I must tell you that I hate liars the most,” he steps closer, “if I find out that you are fooling me, then I will persecute you.”

Cha-aim reluctantly nods her head, “if you don’t have anymore queries, I’m going to get some medicine for my face.” From the slap she had endured earlier.

Tum plays doctor as he stashes emergency kits in his car (for instances like these I suppose) and offers her a medicine. Cha-aim smells it and pulls it away from her face. She gives it back to him and he smells it. He turns his face away from the strong odor and says that this is good stuff. He teases her with it by smearing it on her face. But accidentally, he touches her eyes with it. It stings Cha-aim’s eyes and he steps closer to take a look. Pong happens to be sweeping leaves when he notices them. Tum blows her eyes and looks at her tenderly.

Pong becomes jealous and confronts her with it. He says that they’re boyfriend-girlfriend- and holds her hands. Cha-aim lets it go and reminds him that they can’t be close when they are here. Pong is frustrated because they are dating but he can’t tell anyone here the truth. He asks her when she will acquire enough research so they could leave this place. She says that it’s not that easy, she needs more time. She tells him to go back since there’s someone who’s seen them (Banjong.) Pong blows her kisses and signals that he loves her. Banjong walks out of the bushes and demands to know why she was holding hands with Pong. Cha-aim lies that he’s here to borrow some honey lol, but Banjong lets her go because she doesn’t have any evidence to condemn her.

That night she calls Pong and tells him that he cannot come and see her anymore. She is under suspicion from Banjong who will not stop until she finds fault with her. Pong is frustrated but there’s not much he could do.

Cha-aim’s next task to get Khun Orathai’s confidence back. She seeks help from Khun Pae, who is Khun Orathai’s brother and fashion designer. They decide to give Khun Orathai a makeover to boost up her confidence. Then they gave her arm candy to approach her husband and demand a divorce. This shocks Khun Aded: her new look, her new “lover” and finally, that she would like a divorce. He refuses it, which made Khun Orathai happy and she thanks Khun Pae and especially Cha-aim for making her realize that she needs to love herself before she could love another.

Another task accomplished and another lesson learned. As a boss, Khun Orathai is a good boss, she is not overworking her maids as perceived, and that is why even though they are old, they are still willing to work for her.

Cha-aim has to serve the grandparents because Nark had some stomach issues. Khun Ying (grandma) if you recall, has Alzheimer’s and resorts to childish behaviors. She disliked breakfast and wanted Cha-aim (whom she calls Tua-fak-yao despite Cha-aim’s many corrections) to take her to eat outside (at the mall.) Cha-aim doesn’t want to deny her so she takes grandma to Khun Cheun’s house to ask for permission. However no one was available but Banjong (who wants to see her get fired, always) and pretends to call Khun Cheun on the phone and gave Cha-aim permission to take grandma out. So Cha-aim decides to- in order to make grandma happy.

At the mall, grandma is a bottomless pit. She ate a whole pizza and wants ice cream. While Cha-aim pays for ice cream, grandma wanders off. Cha-aim realizes in horror that she has lost grandma and panics. She searches the mall and still can’t find her so she phones Khun Pae then Khun Orathai. When no one answers, she goes to her last resort: Khun Tum. He comes to her rescue without a word. She bursts into tears when she sees him and says that if she doesn’t find Khun Ying, she’s going to regret it for the rest of her life. He tells her to bring her wits about her so they can find grandma. He clasps her hand and they go in search for grandma.

Meanwhile back at the house, Nark learns that Banjong is trying to get Cha-aim fired by waiting to tell on her. Nark and Aunt Sompit team up to keep Banjon confined in the pantry so she doesn’t have the opportunity to tell. Unfortunately, Khun Cheun discovers her maid locked behind doors and the whole truth comes out. Khun Cheun is on her way to help them look for her mother.

Fortunately, Tum asks Cha-aim to take him back to the place she last saw Khun Ying. Once they return to the ice cream parlor, grandma is sitting there with ice cream all over her face, waiting for them. Cha-aim and grandma have a tearful reunion and they hug. They wipe each other’s tears and Khun Ying says she wants ice cream again. Tum watches Khun Ying as Cha-aim buys more ice cream and he phones Khun Cheun that they are on their way.

Back at the house, Khun Cheun says to Cha-aim that this mistake is huge. Not only did she take Khun Ying outdoors, she even bothered Khun Tum to help them. Tum steps in and says that he thinks of Khun Ying like one of his grandmothers’ so it is no bother. He is always willing to help. He says that she did the right thing by calling him. Everyone looks at Khun Tum. Cha-aim asks permission to say something. She tells Khun Cheun that before she took Khun Ying out, she brought Khun Ying to the house first to ask for permission. Then she saw Banjong. (Banjong conveniently has a headache and tries to excuse herself.) And she says that Banjong had phoned Khun Cheun for permission. All eyes are on Banjong as she fakes a faint.

As they all walk grandma out, grandma turns to Cha-aim, calling her Tua-fak-yao again and says that she should bring her out again next time. Her kids are too busy for her. Khun Cheun tells her mother that next time, she will take her mother out. She apologizes for neglecting her. She will do a better job in taking care of her moving forward.

Cha-aim learns that Khun Ying not only needs a meal or a roof over her head, but she needs love and attention from her kids too. Tears filled her eyes as she watches Khun Cheun walking her mother out.

“Are you happier now, Tua-fak-yao,” Tum asks.

She turns around with tears swimming in her eyes, “Khun Tum- I reserve this name for only Khun Ying… but I wanted to thank you for helping me today, otherwise I will be finished.”

“Why are you still crying?” he asks. “The problem has been resolved.”

“It’s touching..” she says. “Today I get to see how Khun Cheun feels about her mother.”

Tum hands her his handkerchief. When she refuses it, he uses it to wipe away her tears.

That night Pong learns that Cha-aim had another close call. He approaches her at the garden and asks her why she didn’t call him to help her out. She tells him that she couldn’t think, which pisses Pong off even more because in distress, she could only think about calling Khun Tum for help. He wonders why she didn’t call him. She says that he’s overthinking it. She tells him that there can never be anything between her and Khun Tum because she’s a servant. But Pong points out that in reality, they are very suitable, she’s a governor’s daughter and he’s the secretary to the minister. How could he compete? Cha-aim exclaims that it can never happen and Pong does not trust her. Pong apologizes and tells her that he’ll believe her now.

This causes Cha-aim to determine not to see or get any closer to Khun Tum again. She washes the handkerchief he gave her. But the promise gets even harder to achieve when Tum becomes ill and Khun Cheun assigns Cha-aim and Khun Aon to attend to him. Khun Aon is only doing what her mother tells her to so when her friend calls her to come out with them, she leaves Cha-aim alone with Khun Tum in a heartbeat. She tells her that her mother must not find out and they will go home together later.

Cha-aim is alone with Khun Tum again. She comes to see his condition when she heard a glass falling on the carpet. She advises that she take him to the doctor but Tum vehemently refuses. Cha-aim teases him for being afraid of the doctor. Cha-aim decides to play doctor and tucks him in bed after feeding him some medication.

In Khun Tum’s sleeping stupor, he dreams of Cha-aim caring for him- in a sexy maid suit with bunny ears. He sits up in shock (still delirious.) She touches his face and inches closer on the bed. Next she wipes his body with a wet cloth and begins to unbutton his shirt. She blows him a kiss and starts stripping him. He tries to stop her- and continues telling her to stop even when he’s slowly waking up. Cha-aim sees him flailing on the bed and tries to stop him. He wakes up with her face next to his and freaks out, thinking that she is about to rape him. He hasn’t realized that he had dreamt it all and pushes her off the bed.

Indignant she asks why he pushed her off the bed. He looks at his shirt and it’s still in normal order. He apologizes but she’s still angry and said that she was merely checking to see if his condition has improved and if she needs to wipe him down. He makes her do it anyway and teases her that he didn’t think she’s capable of doing something like this. Hah, he keeps offending her! Cha-aim gets up from the bed but he holds her hand to stop her. She finally continues with her ministrations.

Later that afternoon Tum gets bored of laying in bed and is feeling better so he made his way to the dining room. He learns that Khun Aon is not around due to a business she had to attend to, so he and Cha-aim ate kao tom (rice soup) together. They are so cute every time they are together. He fails to see the steam rising from the soup and ate it too fast, burning his tongue. She teases him and decides to help him eat his soup to make up for her chaste words. Tum touches her hands and brought the soup spoon to his mouth. Cha-aim tells him not to take advantage of her, he’s sick but he’s still able to feed himself. Tum smiles apologetically and eats, but he looks too darn pleased of himself, lol.

Cha-aim gets a phone call from Khun Aon but she is instructed to take the call elsewhere and not let Tum know that she’s calling. Khun Aon is going to a party with her friends and will be leaving Cha-aim to care for Khun Tum for the rest of the day. This is ruining Cha-aim’s plan of staying away from him, but there’s not much she could do.

She returns the handkerchief to Tum but tells him she needs to clean it again. Tum says that she can keep it, he has many more. Then he says that if she wants to go home, she could. Cha-aim interrupts him and says that she can’t- oops, she meant that Khun Cheun has assigned her to take care of him. He tells her that he’s not sick anymore and he wants to go in to the office to do some work. Cha-aim says for him to take it easy because if he works hard again his fever may rise. He tells her that he wants to finish his work today. She steps in front of him and asks him if he’s able to drive. Tum tells her that he will take a taxi instead and she will come with him.

Cha-aim prays that she won’t see anyone she knows. Nothing seems to go her way though when she recognizes a face and starts running off. Tum catches her by her purse straps before she could go any further.

Uh oh, will she be able to escape this encounter and prolong her masquerade as a maid? Stay tune for ep 7!

I am enjoying this lakorn too much- and relieved that I am caught up to where I want to be by Sunday. This is what happens when I decided halfway through the airing lakorn that I wanted to recap it. I hope you’ve enjoyed Panyachon Kon Krua as much as I have. Now I will be able to watch and recap at the same time (as oppose to having seen ep 1-6 and having to go back to recap it- let’s just say that even with the second time around, I still appreciate this lakorn.) How will the second half of this lakorn fare? What’s for sure is, I don’t want to say goodbye yet!

Kitchen Scholar Ep 5

Posted on November 3, 2012

In the prep room Khun Cheun tells Cha-aim that she has done a nice job with Tum’s make up, he looks handsome and natural. She asks Cha-aim to fix her makeup as well, which irritates Khun Aon, so she goes and gets herself a glass of water. Unfortunately the water went down the wrong tube and she starts choking vehemently. When she is able to speak, only a croak escapes her mouth. Her mother panics and starts to shake her, hoping it will bring back her voice. Their performance is only minutes away. Tum surmises that they might have to forego their duet. But Cha-aim has a bright idea as she tells Khun Aon to proceed as normal.

Walking towards the stage, Khun Aon is a nervous wreck, but when she opens her mouth a voice sounds- but it is not hers- it is Cha-aim’s who is singing from the backstage as she encourages her on with a smile. Khun Aon and Tum dance to the song as he has his eyes only on Cha-aim. While singing, Cha-aim envisions herself in Khun Aon’s place, flirting and dancing with Tum.

It is such a cute dancing and singing performance about a couple who is begging the other to not get too close because they would blush and might reveal how they feel.

At the end of the song, Khun Aon returns backstage and shyly thanks Cha-aim. Tum could only step closer and tell her that he just found out that she could sing too. Cha-aim watches him walk away and mutters that if he wanted to compliment her, he should just say that she sings well.

In the men’s restroom Tum recognizes Waen but couldn’t quite put a finger on where he met him, so he looks at him while they are taking care of their business. Waen peers back uncomfortably and assumes Tum is into him because he’s gazing at him so intently. Waen quickly finishes his business and runs out of the restroom.

Tum approaches Cha-aim that he met her friend, he describe him as someone who is fat, short, dark and wears glasses. Cha-aim repeats this description and drops her makeup basket. She tells him that she is shocked that Tum would remember someone he met only once. Tum explains that due to the nature of his Secretariat role, he has developed a knack of remembering everything. Cha-aim is going to be really screwed!

She tries to excuse herself and return some garments to the car, but Tum, being a gentleman (even with a maid lol) decides to help her bring them to the car, which causes Cha-aim to screech in frustration. She fears Waen would see her. As they walk out of the room, she stops Tum from turning around since Waen is standing by the door. Cha-aim grasps Tum’s face between her hands and explains that she forgot to remove his makeup. He is distracted by the closeness of her body. Then Waen sees Tum and exclaims that Tum is into both men and women and he finally leaves the hotel. Hah. Cha-aim is relieved that Waen left, but unbeknownst to her, she still has her arms around Tum’s neck. Tum smiles and asks her where she would like him to remove the makeup. They both glance up and for a moment are caught in each other’s gaze. Cha-aim is flustered and walks right into the glass door.

Cha-aim makes it back to her bedroom and screams in frustration at her actions earlier today. She recalls getting close to him (nose to nose) and falls back against her bed. Even Tum couldn’t help thinking about her while brushing his teeth. They are too cute.

The next morning Cha-aim brings honey and fresh squeeze lemon for Khun Aon and tells her that it will help her throat and her voice will return once she drinks it. Khun Aon ignores her stubbornly but peers at her maid’s back when she leaves. She smiles at the cup and is about to reach it when Banjong enters and tells her not to drink it because it might be drugged. She offers her own orange juice but Khun Aon tells her that Cha-aim is not that evil. If she were, she wouldn’t have helped her earlier. (It’s good to see that Khun Aon knows right from wrong.) She ignores Banjong and drinks the concoction Cha-aim prepared for her instead.

Furious, Banjong decides she must take matters into her own hands in order to get rid of Cha-aim. She steals the diamond necklace from Khun Aon’s room and plants it under Cha-aim’s pillow.

Meanwhile Pong brings his own concoction for Khun Aon to help her recover her voice. She smells the small bottle and it reeks. He tells her that she should try it because it works. As she brings it back to her room, she discovers that her diamond necklace is missing. Banjong says that someone must have stolen it, and it must be Cha-aim because she was cleaning Khun Aon’s room earlier. Khun Cheun calls Cha-aim for questioning and they decide to investigate her room for the necklace. Cha-aim is nervous only because she fears they would find her tablet- and she would really be screwed. Banjong can’t seem to find the necklace. Khun Cheun says that she knew Cha-aim didn’t take it; it might have been lost somewhere in the room. Nark, Cha-aim’s heroine, drops the necklace into Khun Aon’s hamper. Apparently she saw Banjong trying to frame Cha-aim and came to her rescue. Good people really do have angels watching over them.

Nark reveals Banjong’s intentions and she receives everyone’s wrath (except for Cha-aim who forgives her) which causes her to shout in agony and stomp away.

Even Khun Aon feels bad for falsely accusing Cha-aim. She hands Pong a tube of lipstick for Cha-aim- she could only show her regret in the only way that she knows lol, which is to give things away. Pong couldn’t believe his ears that she is feeling sorry for what she has done. He tells her that she should give it to Cha-aim herself. But Khun Aon is afraid she would look bad. Pong lectures her on humanity and that even though they have different status; they are all still human beings. Either way, he is happy to hear that she feels bad, it is a step in the right direction.

When it’s dinnertime, the crew is shocked to see Khun Aon in the kitchen. She apologizes to Cha-aim that she misunderstood her earlier. She hands her a tube of lipstick as a truce and tells all of them that they need not panic the next time she enters the kitchen. Aunt Sompit exclaims merrily about the lipstick and that Khun Aon never gave anything to anyone before. Cha-aim could only look at the lipstick with a smile. That night she erases what she has written about Khun Aon in the past- she will have to look at her with a different perspective now.

Next we see a scene where Cha-aim is cooking a meal. Tum walks behind her and wraps his arms around her (calling her “dear.”) She turns to look at him and is shocked to see Khun Tum’s face. He tells her that she can’t escape from him and he leans down to give her a kiss- that is when Cha-aim rolls off the bed and lands on the floor. Frustrated that even in her dreams, she thinks about him. She promises that in reality, she will try her best to avoid him.

Unfortunately fate or Khun Cheun assigns her to clean Khun Tum’s condo since his maid left for the countryside. Cha-aim calls her best friend asking for her advice, venting that earlier she dreamt of being in Khun Tum’s condo. Her friend teases her for cheating in her dreams lol. Cha-aim tells her that she doesn’t want to be alone with him but she doesn’t know how to deny Khun Cheun. Nong tells her that she doesn’t need to chat with him all that much, just get the cleaning done and leave. Nong would pick her up afterward.

It shocks her to see him waiting for her, the image of him in her dreams still fresh in her mind. They board the elevator but as it raises a few floors, the elevator is stuck. He tells her that he has been on this elevator so many times but the moment she’s in it, it’s stuck. Indignant, Cha-aim says that maybe it is his unlucky day. She starts feeling anxious and suffocated. She is lightheaded and nearly faints against the elevator wall. He thinks she is slamming into the elevator to force it to work so they bicker. When it works again and the lights come on, the two exclaim merrily with their hands holding each other.

When they reach his condo, Cha-aim says that she doesn’t really need to clean the place it is already clean! Tum touches the surface of the table and shows her the dust. He says that she considers things only from their appearance lol. Grumbling she gets to work and tries to stay out of his way.

First task is vacuuming: Cha-aim puts on her headphones and starts dancing and vacuuming at the same time. The doorbell rings, disturbing her work, as Cha-aim answers the door. It is Tum’s neighbor asking for directions and she responds in perfect English, not knowing that Tum is watching her from the corner. When she shuts the door, Tum asks her why she speaks great English. She lies that her old boss’ daughter taught her English. He wonders since she is so good to Cha-aim, why did she quit? Cha-aim replies that her old boss moved abroad so she had to find a new job. She then deters him from any additional questions by turning on the vacuum and going back to work.

Khun Cheun is thoroughly disappointed and frustrated with her daughter, who failed her English class once again. Her mom reminds her that she is 21 years old now, she must start school (where everyone else has already finished.) Khun Aon is distraught and feels like a failure to her mother. Her mother doesn’t understand that it is very difficult for her to learn. Khun Aon sobs loudly by the pool. Pong hears someone crying and came to investigate. Her mascara cry scares Pong and he yelps in surprise. He tries to console her by asking her what is wrong. She asks him if he thinks she is stupid. He hesitates.. then she replies for him that he must think she’s a dummy. Pong says that she is not stupid; she just doesn’t have the drive and diligence. She stands up in anger and accuses him for scolding her. He apologizes but she keeps on crying. Then he says a good distraction is to go out.

Cha-aim’s next task is to do laundry, but she never had to do laundry at Khun Cheun’s house before so she doesn’t know how to operate the washing machine. She fills up the detergent filter hoping that it will clean the clothes nicely.

Meanwhile Tum spills coffee on his shirt and makes his way to his room to change into a new shirt. It is the same time Cha-aim enters the room to put a new sheet on his bed- and she sees him shirtless and proceeds to scream. No need to be so shock, it’s just a naked chest lol. Somewhat annoying they make leading ladies act like it would ruin their sensibilities. Cha-aim tries to get away from the scene and bumps her head against the banister.

As she applies ointment to her forehead, Tum notices a stream of foaming bubbles leaking from the hallway. Cha-aim remembers her laundry task and jumps out of the chair. They make their way to the hallway and slips around the floor. She gives one sneeze and Tum falls on his back while she lands squarely on him. This knocks his breath out and he tells her that she is heavy. She screams at his comment and gets up. Lol Tum, that is not a nice thing to say. He ends up having to bring his laundry to the laundromat downstairs.

Pong takes Khun Aon to the mall and Khun Aon feels that a makeover would make her happy- not her makeover but his. She dresses him up as a woman. She still thinks that he is gay. Pong is finally fed up when Khun Aon said that she would lend him money so he could get a breast implant. He tries to explain to her that he is 100% man.

Cha-aim’s final task is to make Tum’s bed. He is expecting sleek pleats and tucked in sheets, but sloppy sheets greeted him instead. He teaches her how to properly make the bed (as she stares at him in awe). He messes it up again so she could make it instead- otherwise it would be known that he made his own bed (and god forbid that should ever happen..) He tells her that she doesn’t know how to do the things that she should know but instead is proficient with things that she should not..

Back with Pong and Khun Aon, Pong takes her to a class where some students are taking additional lessons on the weekend. It is focused on students who are slower than others. He wants to show her that even though their learning aptitude is not as fast as the others, they have perseverance and diligence. He thinks that if you have those qualities, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. This motivating speech makes Aon look at Pong in a different light. He has always been the person who is by her side at her saddest moments, and he believes in her. She smiles poignantly as she looks at his profile.

Cha-aim is a quick learner and masters the bed making skills in no time. She smells food and meanders over to the kitchen (the same kitchen in her dream) and notices Tum cooking. He is adept at everything! She admires him from the corner but he takes it up a notch and has prepared her some food too. They eat at his dining table together, maid/boss relationship not withstanding.

Cha-aim takes a bite of the meal and tells him how delicious it is. It is so good, he can open a restaurant. Tum says that he would love to, but his parents want him to pursue politics. Aim tells him that this is his life, not his parents. He looks at her. Cha-aim realizes that she must have over stepped her bounds and apologizes. But he says that she is right, but one can’t always do what one wants to do.

As she prepares to leave, he gives her an envelope with her wage for the day. Cha-aim says that Khun Cheun is already paying her for it so he doesn’t need to. But Tum insists. She thanks him and leaves his condo but she forgets the food he has packed for Khun Cheun. Tum follows her outside and notices her getting into a car. He calls her to come back to get the food and asks who was driving her. Cha-aim panics and lies that she is Nongni her old boss’ daughter who is visiting BKK for the day. He looks bewildered at both of them but lets them go. (Earlier Nong brought Cha-aim face cream and scolds her that if she wants to know what it’s really like to be a maid, then she shouldn’t use products that maids can’t afford! True!)

Back at the mansion, Khun Aon holds Pong’s hand to thank him for the day, she feels immensely better. The handholding makes Pong nervous but he couldn’t help commenting that the boss’ hands smells so good! Lol. Then he slaps his face a few times, scolding himself for buying trouble. He reminds himself that Aim loves him, he can’t do this!

Our story shifts to a problem for Khun Pae, who is a clothing designer about to make his dream come true- he will launch his new product with a catwalk. Unfortunately, he butts head with an event coordinator (who runs the modeling agency) who pulls out of the fashion show last minute. Distraught he cries at home and Pong tries to cheer him up. Later the next morning, Pong recounts this story to Cha-aim, and they both decide to help Khun Pae. They have their friends pretend to be the most famous event organizer to help with the event. She requests Cha-aim to help them since she is like her right hand person. Khun Pae is skeptical but he is willing to give it a try. Cha-aim recommends that Khun Aon, her friends and any celebrity friends that Khun Pae has to make an appearance. Khun Aon is stage shy and doesn’t want to participate but her mother forces her to. This is supposed to be one hi-so fashion event.

Cha-aim finally shows Banjong a piece of her mind after many disrespectful and cruel things that Banjong has fraught on her. Banjong asks if Cha-aim plans on slapping her then? But Cha-aim says that educated people don’t resort to that. (Implying that Banjong is uneducated.) Cha-aim continues that in their profession, they are already being looked down upon, she (Banjong) ought to behave better. Furthermore, Cha-aim doesn’t want people to say to Banjong that because of her behavior, she could only be a maid. Hah. The maid crew cheer for Cha-aim, a scathing well said. But this only serves to piss off Banjong even more.

Khun Cheun calls Tum to ask him to model for Khun Pae’s fashion show, but Tum declines firmly this time around. He also heard that Cha-aim will help coordinate the fashion show and he could not help but approach her (while she’s watering the plants) and finds out what she has up her sleeves. But Cha-aim doesn’t tell him, opting for a surprising element. Tum doesn’t trust that she would be able to pull this off. But Cha-aim tells him that there are a lot of things about her that he doesn’t know. Tum looks at her and agrees with her statement, but whether they are good things about her that he doesn’t know, he shall wait to find out. I love how he wants to know everything about her. Cha-aim peers at him with a mixture of paranoia and annoyance.

The night of the event is here: camera flashing everywhere, socialites gracing the red carpet. But Khun Aon is a bundle of nerves. She doesn’t know who to talk to so she stands by the banister looking for Pong. She gives a catcall to get his attention. She says that she can’t do the catwalk. Pong encourages her that she can do it. Khun Aon freaks out and says she won’t do it. Pong finally uses reverse psychology on her and says that she can’t do it then, she’s not capable, no diligence etc. Offended, Khun Aon says that she will show him she can do it. Pong secretly smiles and encourages her to prove him wrong. Nong (Cha-aims friend) watches this scene unfolding, confused.

Tum seeks out Cha-aim and instead of telling how surprising the event is turning out to be, he says that there are a lot of things about her that he doesn’t know. (Repeating their conversation yesterday.) Cha-aim tells him that she’s merely doing what the coordinators are telling her to.

The committee receives another curveball. Apparently one of their models has been sent to the hospital so they are short one. Khun Pae is freaking out but Cha-aim is great at problem solving and thinking on her feet so she seeks Khun Tum for the solution. But Tum refuses, saying that he doesn’t know how to do the catwalk. Everyone pleads for him to help and Cha-aim says that she will teach him quickly. He finally concedes with irritation, mostly at Cha-aim ha.

How will this fashion show fare? Stay tune for ep 6!

Kitchen Scholar Ep 4

It’s so funny to watch Tum try to find fault with Cha-aim. He’s clearly visiting his uncle so he could see her and he goes out of his way to find her, but when he is actually talking to her, he takes on his suspicious, accusatory tones instead. Such is the case in the onset of this episode, he sees her walking suspiciously in the garden, a pink something hiding behind her back.

Earlier Aim discovers that her tablet would not turn on and panics because her entire research notes are stored there. After bringing it to Pong’s attention and he is able to fix it, she made her way back to the house to find that Khun Tum again, questioning her. She tries to hide the tablet and walk away quickly, but he wraps his arms around her and peels the tablet from her fingers.

Tum questions why she owns a tablet. To make sure their stories match, he confronts both Pong and Aim and asks Pong the same questions he asked Aim. Pong peers at Aim for instructions and they decided that Khun Pae had given the tablet to Pong as a gift and Aim was just borrowing it to play games.

To ensure they cover their tracks, Pong needs to find a way to make Khun Pae decide to offer him a tablet on his own- because they know that Tum will investigate their statements. So he plays to Khun Pae’s sentiments by telling him that he wanted to repay Khun Pae’s generosity by cooking food for him. However, he doesn’t have any computers to find recipes online. Khun Pae starts to offer buying him a computer (Pong says too expensive), then a notebook (not travel friendly) then he hints for a tablet and Khun Pae offers Pong his old tablet. Score! Khun Pae is truly a generous boss! Khun Pae explains to Tum that when he sees someone who is diligent, he would like to support the cause.

That night Pong asks Aim when she would stop being a maid- and Aim replies that she will stop only until she has acquired enough research to write her script.

Khun Cheun hires the professor to teach her about acting and singing for the upcoming charity event. The professor happens to be Amika’s professor (small lakorn world!) and he tells her that he would be happy to do it, he is just requesting that one of his students help him. So he calls that particular student, who happens to currently be employed at Khun Cheun’s house, lol.

Amika is mopping the patio floors and learning the intricacies of it. She decides to pour the entire bucket on the ground hoping that it cleans the entire surface. Tum happens to walk by and notices her slipping around the floor. He walks over with concern and apprehension. He asks her if she can manage her task? Then Amika receives a phone call from her professor. She excuses herself from Tum’s presence and hides behind a bush to chat with her professor. The older man wants to know if she could help him teach a session. Amika tells him that she is currently working on the assignment for the contest but she won’t divulge the information because she wants him to be surprised. As she says this, she notices someone’s foot behind a potting plant. Realizing that Khun Tum might be eavesdropping she decides to put on a show for him. Amika starts sobbing on the phone, screaming, “it’s not true, right Dr?” She proceeds to cry and cry. Her professor is asking her what’s wrong on the phone and she hangs up. Tum walks over to her, concern etches his face. She tells Tum that her father has been admitted to the hospital and she is very concerned about him. Tum asks her which hospital and Amika quickly thinks of the province she is supposedly from (Surin). Then Tum kindly tells her that he will take her to the hospital himself (aww.) Amika panics, her plans are always backfiring. He tells her that he will get Khun Cheun’s permission for her. Amika prays silently that Khun Cheun will not approve. Much to her dismay, Khun Cheun and Khun Phi wholeheartedly agree and even gave her money for any hospital expense.

Amika tries once again to deter Tum but he tells her that if she refuses his help one more time, then he would consider that she is lying to him. So Amika is forced to fake another stomachache and runs to her bedroom to call for backup help. Nong has a plan for her.

I love how this lakorn is all about our main characters, which in effect gives us lots of screen time!

Tum notices the day bag in her hands and asks her how long she plans on staying there. Amika replies that it all depends on her father’s condition. They jump in the car and Tum watches Cha-aim gnaw on her fingernails the way there.

Pong on the other hand has to put on a “show” for Khun Pae (to repay him for the tablet), but doesn’t realize that Khun Pae has invited a bunch of his hungry, gay friends. Khun Pae says that if he doesn’t dance for them, he would kiss him instead lol, so poor Pong has to strut and dance for everyone. Khun Aon hears the commotion and watches from afar, laughing her butt off. At the end of the dance, Pong is angry at himself as Khun Aon thinks that he is gay.

Tum and Cha-aim arrive at the hospital and on their way there, she had told him to leave the moment he drops her off. But of course Tum is curious so he follows her inside. As Cha-aim sits in the waiting area, she over hears an elder woman telling the doctor that she doesn’t have money to pay for her husband’s hospital expenses. She spots Tum walking in and ducks from view. He asks the receptionist for Cha-aim’s last name and learns that no one is there by that name. He reiterates that her father is disabled. Cha-aim tells him that she utilizes her mother’s last name, lol, not her father’s. Desperate, she uses the elder woman as her mother, and for now escapes another close call from Tum.

If we learn anything after this scene, we learned that even though Cha-aim can lie through her teeth, she still end up helping a family in need. Tum sees that she truly cares about her “family” but certain things just doesn’t add up about her. For instance, after the hospital visit, he asks her to take him to a good restaurant in her province. She takes him to a local facility but is not familiar with the food that he orders; it is as if she has never eaten them before. Cha-aim learns that he is easy going and can adapt to different environments due to the nature of his profession.

It is getting darker and they return to the car only to discover that Tum lost his keys (which fell into the pond while they were having lunch.) Cha-aim decides this is a good opportunity as any to leave him waiting for the tow truck to save him, but Tum tags along with her as they take the next bus back to BKK.

Meanwhile Khun Aon and Pong discover that Tum and Cha-aim are in Surin together, both are shocked for the same reasons. Khun Aon worries that Aim is after her P’Tum but Pong reassures her that it won’t happen because Aim already has a boyfriend. Khun Aon still doesn’t trust Cha-aim so she tells Pong to keep a close eye on the two and report to her should anything suspicious occur between them.

Night falls and Cha-aim and Tum board the bus. As Tum helps Cha-aim with her bag, they have an accidental kiss and both pull back from the shock. He immediately sits in his seat but another customer pushes Cha-aim out of her way, causing Cha-aim to land on Tum’s lap. They look awkwardly and shyly at each other. This is probably one of the cutest scenes between them so far! Tum helps her adjust her seat, but it’s stuck so they bump into each other again hah.

Soon they both fall asleep, with the consistent lull of the bus. Later they arrive at a pit stop for food or restroom. Cha-aim is in a deep sleep and has no desire to leave her seat, however Tum does not want to eat alone so he drags her by her purse to one of the food booths. Tum places a plate in front of her and complains how she is responsible for his discomfort. But Cha-aim doesn’t pay attention to any of this as her head nods slowly until it face plants on the rice. She is so sleepy, she couldn’t hold on to her heavy head lol. Tum laughs at the pieces of rice stuck to her face and hair. He wipes her face with the napkin. You can’t win with him; he says that since she almost fell asleep twice, people are going to think that he drugged her.

Back on the bus, Cha-aim passes out again and her head lulls towards his shoulder. Tum holds her head against his shoulder with a smile- he’s liking this too much! Morning came and they arrive in BKK, the two are asleep on each other’s shoulders. They wake up with their noses touching.

Don’t mess with a girl who is tired! Tum tries to give her cellphone back because she left it on the seat, but Cha-aim’s only goal is to get home and go to sleep.

When she returns to the house, Pong wants to know why she didn’t fill him in on her plans. Cha-aim is worried now that she has told Khun Tum so many lies, how will she remember all of them? Pong advises her to start keeping track of what she tells him. He tells her that Khun Aon has him keep track of her and Tum because she fears Aim is after Khun Tum. Pong laughs at this, he thinks it is absurd that it could even be possible. Aim laughs along with him awkwardly. Pong believes that he doesn’t have any competition. Little did he know that it is further from the truth!

As he walks back to Khun Pae’s house, Pong hears Khun Aon calling for him (sounds almost like a mating call lol.) She wants to know what he has uncovered so far between Aim and Tum. He explains the situation with the lost key and Khun Aon is satisfied with that for now. She tells him to report to her if he hears of anything else in the future.

That night before going to bed, Amika writes in her tablet about the recent events. She types: Khun Tum, a man who has a bad mouth, a person who must know everything (should he choose to know).. but on the other side, he is a gentlemen who isn’t a snob, handsome, good looking, smiles beautifully, cute, sweet eyes (lol does she realize she’s going on and on about him?!) Amika stops herself short and gets up to look at her face in the mirror- she is blushing! She reminds herself that she is a maid, she shouldn’t trouble herself with Khun Tum! Then she has a second thought, maybe she should use him as her leading man in her script? Lol.

In his condo, Tum thinks about their close proximity. He smiles widely before turning off his night lamp.

The following morning, the pervert (Khun Aded) finds Cha-aim cleaning the bench outside. He sneaks behind her and grabs her from behind. This shocks Cha-aim and she pulls herself away. He tells her that since she didn’t show up the other night- and even sent Banjong in her wake- he wants to seek her out himself. He pulls her in his arms again until Cha-aim stomps on his toes and pushes him away. Khun Orathai comes in time to see them and he lies that Cha-aim was throwing herself on him. Khun Orathai believes him and is about to beat her down when Tum saves her in time. This gets brought to Khun Cheun’s attention. The case gets solved though when Cha-aim says that she never intended to see Khun Aded in the past, she was only sending oranges to the granny maids. They brought the granny maids to interview and the air gets cleared.

Cha-aim thanks Khun Tum again. Tum tells her to be careful because he isn’t always around to help her. He returns her cellphone and they smile at each other cutely before he leaves.

The charity event draws near and Khun Cheun wants to ask Tum to sing a duet with Aon. Before he could agree, Khun Cheun strong-armed him into it.

Meanwhile Amika shows her professor a sneak peek of what she has written so far for the contest. Pong has tagged along with her, which begs the question, why isn’t he researching material for his own project? Does he have no interest in pursuing the chance to study in New York? Anyway, the professor wants to know where she is finding her resources. Amika explains to him that she’s just interviewing people. Her professor warns her that she needs to write with emotion and compassion. Amika guarantees that she won’t disappoint him.

It turns out they are acquainted with the same household. The professor is teaching Khun Cheun about acting and singing while Amika actually works there. She is assigned to bring water to the guest but little did she know that she would be facing her own professor. Both yelp in shock and Amika makes a run for it. Professor Pian follows her but is snooping around so much that Jun suspects he is a thief and beats him. Eventually the professor finds Amika and scolds her for impersonating a maid. Aim explains that she merely wants to know what it is really like to be a maid- she was only doing what he told her to- and to be able to write poignantly. Professor Tian finally gives in and promises not to let anyone know.

The household wants to know why Aim was so clumsy earlier that she spilled the glass of water. Nark explains that Aim wasn’t feeling well. They decide to check in on her condition in her room but she was nowhere to be found. Luckily she appears and tells them that she had to buy medicine. Tum appears overly concerned until he sees her face and that she is well.

That evening Khun Cheun tells Cha-aim that she would like her to accompany them to the charity event. Khun Cheun notices that Cha-aim is a quick learner and smart so she wants her to gain more experience. She gives Cha-aim money to buy some new clothes for the event. Her generosity brings Cha-aim to write in her tablet that Khun Cheun appears to be someone who would have difficulty getting along with others. But in actuality, she is a person who is so nice, and has a big heart. Then Cha-aim says out loud, what if she finds out that I’m lying to her? Would she be angry at me? Suddenly, getting to know everyone in the household would make it even more difficult to tell them the truth in the end.

At the pool area, Khun Aon is practicing her singing. She hears someone howling and thinks it’s a ghost. It is only Pong and he thought she might need his help that’s why he came. She tells him that she wasn’t calling for his help (lol) and that she was only practicing her singing skills. Pong agrees to help her practice- she tells him that she is a slow learner and can’t catch up with everyone else. They grow closer together and practice every night. But Khun Aon seems to be over practicing, and loses her voice.

During the morning of the event, the crew made their way to the hotel for preparation. Cha-aim and Tum are left in the room alone as they look shyly at each other. She takes out her makeup case and asks him if he is interested in wearing makeup. She advises that when he’s under the spotlight, he would look pale if he doesn’t wear anything. He tells her that he’s a man! (And that should explain everything? Lol.) But Cha-aim assures him that she has experience before- in which he interjects on where she gained such an experience- from being a coyote of course, she tells him, and promises not to make him look like a monkey show. We get another cute scene where she puts makeup on Tum and he couldn’t help but smile adorably at her, doting on her every feature.

This show gets better and better!

My only problem is that everyone seems a little jumpy and unnatural every time they screech in shock. I mean, we don’t all go through life as if we are walking on eggshells, right? I suppose when you’re always lying, you are afraid of being caught, thus always paranoid and jumpy? Anyway, if they can tone that down a tad, my eardrums would appreciate it more. The only person who seems to speak in a normal tone is Tum, hah, maybe he is the only sane and less dramatic person around?

Witnessing Cha-aim holding hands with different guys is a recurring nuisance for Tum. Earlier she pretended to loose her wallet in front of the restaurant and now she is standing, hand in hand with the fat guy. Even he couldn’t steer away from her, how could he blame anyone else? Lol.

Cha-aim consoles Waen that Tum is merely a friend. Apparently Waen has a crush on her too and he tells her that even though she is seeing Pong, he would always wait for her. Cha-aim is relieved that she could get rid of him, not knowing that Tum is watching them from across the mall.

Meanwhile Pong is trying to steal Khun Aoy’s cell phone. But the little girl is possessive and smart about her phone and he ends up getting coffee and water poured on his head instead.

When the trio returns home, Tum watches Aim remove Khun Aon’s shoes with a sullen smile. Khun Aon dismisses Aim to put her things in her room and tries to cajole Tum to spend more time with her, but he isn’t having it and tells her he is heading home. However, he searches for Cha-aim instead.

Aon reports to her mother that she went shopping and dined with her P’Tum, but that is not enough for her mother. She scolds the younger girl for not seizing the moment and requiring too much guidance. Aon looks away with sadness, nothing she did seem to please her mother. Khun Cheun turns to her husband and blames him for ordering Cha-aim to join Aon and Tum.

There seem to be a false truce behind Aon and Aoy- Aoy still has the upper hand since she possess the “incriminating” photo of Aon in her phone. The parents look on with surprise that they are getting along.

Khun Cheun is not through with reprimanding her husband. She follows him upstairs and tells him that Tum is the only man who is suitable to be her son in law. She further threatens him to find any way to get Tum to visit their home every day.

Cha-aim complains to herself that fooling people is simply not an easy task, but she could not stop now, she has gone too far. She slips on her shoes and makes her way back to the servants’ quarters. Tum steps from beside the bushes and asks her who the fat guy was that she was talking to and why she had been running away from him. When she doesn’t answer right away, he assumes she is running away from debt, lol. Cha-aim finds him infuriating because even her father doesn’t question her motives that much. And I don’t know if it is due to jealousy but Tum instigates that due to her behavior and having many male friends, he believes her to be more than a coyote. In addition, he doesn’t care about her past, but he doesn’t want her to reach for his uncle in hopes that she could live a good life. When he walks away after his last word, Cha-aim advises him to write his own drama script, lol.

Banjong has been eavesdropping in the corner and is suspicious about their interaction. She did not hear what they said though.

Furious that Pong is not successful at extracting the phone, Khun Aon yells at him. They finally team up to steal the phone from Khun Aoy. While she is taking a bath, Aon helps Aoy scrub her back while Pong retrieves the cellphone. They succeed and rendezvous back at the pool where Khun Aon removes the sim card for safety measure.

Devastated at the loss of her cellphone, Khun Aoy accuses her older sister for stealing it (as she knows quite well who is responsible.) When Khun Aon denies it, the two get into a scuffle and start pulling on each other’s hair. The parents break them up and Khun Phi had to use extreme measure by spanking Aoy to stop her. He regrets it immediately but it is too late, Aoy runs sobbing into her room. Cha-aim consoles her by bringing in a meal to her room but Aoy rejects it. So Cha-aim tries to get to the bottom of it. She tells Aoy that it is merely a cellphone, why is she so upset about it? But to Aoy, the cellphone represents a caring entity, her lifeline. Her parents are too busy to care about her that she uses the phone to call her friends, people who actually want to talk to her. Aoy proceeds to say that she hates her parents, by which Cha-aim warns her that it is sinful to say such things. She would reborn as a demon that can never eat again. This scares Aoy and she immediately apologizes and eats her meal.

That night Cha-aim concludes that what Aoy lacks the most in life is attention from her parents, so she seeks them from possessions.

Banjong tattles on Cha-aim to Khun Aon that Cha-aim is evil and is setting her caps on Tum. This worries Khun Aon because if Tum doesn’t like her, her mother would scold her. Clearly we see that Khun Aon isn’t all that in love with Tum, just doing whatever her mother tells her. Banjong advises that they need to find a way to get Cha-aim fired.

Cha-aim confronts Pong about the kiss between him and Khun Aon. She is not concerned about the kiss, but she is angry that Khun Aon told him to steal Khun Aoy’s phone, and that Pong didn’t share this information with her.

Khun Aon and Banjong’s plan to get Cha-aim fired commences, Khun Cheun tells Cha-aim that she is to be Khun Aon’s personal maid. According to the history of Khun Aon’s personal maids, no one lasts for more than three days. She is notorious for making their lives miserable, to the point where she has not had a personal maid since. This bit of information terrifies Cha-aim because that would cut her research short.

There is a lot that Cha-aim needs to learn when it comes to being someone’s personal maid. Upon shopping with Khun Aon, Cha-aim learns to remain a few steps behind her boss. But the shopping bags keep growing bigger and bigger. Things didn’t help when she accidentally fell against Khun Aon (while riding a skateboard) and caused Khun Aon to bump her head against a car door. Aon begs her mother to fire Cha-aim but Khun Cheun knows the value of a good maid and tells her daughter that since it is an accident, she decides to cut Cha-aim’s monthly wage by a half.

Cha-aim summarizes her discoveries for the day onto her tablet. She observes that despite having wealth, no one in the household appears to be happy. But perhaps, she thinks, there is someone who is happy outside of the house (meaning the relatives.) Cha-aim decides to snoop and interview the old maids at Khun Orathai’s house. She tries to bribe them with fresh oranges to get them to talk, but they are disinclined. Unlucky for her, the perverted husband sees her and tries to make his move.

Tum is at the house visiting with his uncle and reporting that he has a lunch meeting with the governor later that day. He sees Cha-aim in front of Khun Orathai’s house holding hands yet again with another man. He shakes his head with disbelief and takes his leave.

Khun Aon and Banjong try for the second time to fire Cha-aim. They assign her to clean the room (which is in absolute chaos) and wash the car before a certain time. If she cannot complete it within the timeframe, her job will be at stake. Meanwhile Cha-aim’s parents are in town for the day and they request her presence at a restaurant for lunch. They happen to invite Tum to chat about work as well, but of course Cha-aim does not know this. She pleads for her friend Nong to pretend to be her while she meets with her parents.

Will Tum and Amika finally meet?

Her parents and Tum are sitting at the table waiting for Amika. She arrives looking fresh and pretty but stops in her track when she sees Tum turning his head towards her. She spins around and walks out of the restaurant. She doesn’t get very far when her mother follows her and brings her back. Amika is sweating profusely when they wait for the secretary to return. Tum finally reaches the table and Amika immediately dons sunglasses and a facemask. Tum looks bewildered at her. She explains that she has allergies, especially something in the restaurant is causing a flare-up (most likely him lol.) Tum says that he used to have allergies but since he plays sports now, it went away. Her mother asks him to take Amika to play sports sometimes too so her allergies would improve, lol.

Amika determines it is time to leave so she excuses herself to the restroom and changes back into Cha-aim’s clothes. She inconspicuously walks out of the restaurant- but not before catching Tum’s eyes as she clumsily bump into people. He recognizes her immediately and make chase. In the parking lot they play cat and mouse but Tum eventually apprehends her by tackling her to the ground. Amika thinks on her feet again and lies to him that she has to do dishes at the restaurant to make ends meet. She brings in the big guns and tells him her sob story- that her life is sad, her father is disabled and her mother is blind. (Back at the restaurant her parents are having a coughing and blinking fit due to her blasphemy.) She goes further and tells him that she needs to raise her siblings too.

Tum feels sorry for her and starts to believe her when he sees her sobbing (albeit fake.) With his suspicious nature, he tells her that next week, he has some free time to visit her hometown and see the condition of her home life with his own eyes. It gets worse and worse for Cha-aim as her triumphs are always momentarily, lol. Amika apologizes to the heavens above for cursing her parents earlier.

Meanwhile back at Khun Cheun’s house, Cha-aim needs to make it back there in time to relief Nong. Just when Khun Aon orders the “Cha aim” to turn around, Nark fakes a stomachache and Nong runs back to Cha-aim’s room. Cha-aim appears in the last minute and rescues Nark. Cha-aim thanks Nark for helping her but Nark warns her to watch her back because Banjong will not give up easily.

Banjong is disappointed that Cha-aim survives another day but Khun Aon is getting paranoid that if Tum finds out that she is behind this, he would think she is evil. Since she has always tried to appear nice and kind in front of him, this will not do. Banjong warns her that she cannot pull out because her mother will be on her case. This scares Khun Aon because Banjong does such an accurate impression of her mother.

The family reconvenes in the dining room, discussing Khun Aon’s pending birthday celebration. Khun Aon wants to arrange a small gathering at their house and recommends that Cha-aim prepare the birthday meal. Cha-aim stares in shock and Aunt Sompit glares at her for taking her responsibility.

That night Banjong pours even more salt on Aunt Sompit’s wound by telling her that Cha-aim is after her position, turning them against each other. Sompit worries about her job and Banjong advises that she should use it to her advantage- meaning, ruin Cha-aim!

On the day of the birthday, Cha-aim sneaks her friends in the kitchen to help her prepare the meal. There are several close calls but Pong helps clear them away. The family members has all arrived and situated around the table, each person has presented Aon with a present. Curious, Khun Cheun asks Aon to open the present Tum has given her. She opens the Chanel box and reveals a black scarf, lol. Aon looks distastefully at it but her mom tells her to wear it right away to show her appreciation. Tum tells her that he’s not good at gift giving.

It is time for Cha-aim to present the prepared meal. Everyone pauses in awe at the food before them, especially that she is able to accomplish this. According to Khun Cheun, it tastes as good as it looks. Cha-aim immediately tells everyone that Aunt Sompit is her teacher and is the one to teach her this meal. Aunt Pit straightens her shoulders and boasts that Cha-aim is a quick learner and was able to grasp her teachings. Cha-aim and Aunt Pit peer at each other with a smile.

But Khun Aon throws her a curveball. A flurry of friends arrives to dine with the family. Cha-aim did not anticipate the group thus didn’t prepare extra food. Khun Cheun stands up and says that there will be food. She even advises that Cha-aim could order something- but her daughter says that it will make her look bad, to serve her friends store bought food. It is decided that Cha-aim must come up with some sort of meal in twenty minutes time. It just so happens that Tum is eavesdropping in the corner and his compassion wins over.

The hero comes to her rescue once again. He walks into the kitchen and pulls out bowls of fresh uncut fruit: melons, pineapples etc. They go to work chopping the fruits and placing them into wine glasses accompanied by whip cream on top. Cha-aim shakes the bottle of whip cream and releases the first squirt into Tum’s face. He looks at her and calls her evil before smearing whip cream on her face for retaliation. Tum later helps her clean her face and they have another mesmerizing moment looking into each other’s eyes. Khun Aon walks in on them, and Tum orders her to help them put the dessert together. Aon merely says yes obediently and goes to work.

As they deliver the glasses to the new guests, the perverted husband of Khun Orathai slips a note into Cha-aim’s hands.

The end of the birthday meal finds Cha-aim walking after Tum to thank him for helping her today. She tells him that she thought he didn’t like her. Tum looks at her and says that it’s not that he didn’t like her- in which she interprets that he must like her then. This catches Tum off guard as he stammers, “no.. because I don’t dislike you doesn’t mean that I like you.. I just don’t trust you.” He is the type that can differentiate things and doesn’t like others to be bullied. He explains finally that just because he helped her today, doesn’t mean that he has started trusting her now.

Cha-aim looks at him with bemusement and tells him that she will try to understand what he is saying. She thanks him again and says that she doesn’t want him to think that she is a bad person. Tum watches her walk away with a smile.

By the end of episode 3, Aunt Sompit has turned over a new leaf. She reserves a whole slice of cake for Cha-aim as a peace offering. Cha-aim is winning her over with her good heart.

Khun Aon scolds Banjong for failing with her plans again. She wants to quit but Banjong tells her that it would be embarrassing should Khun Aon loose to Cha-aim, as clearly Tum was the one who helped her today. Aon pouts at the thought, as she doesn’t like to be embarrassed. Then Banjong advises that they can take a break for now and allow Cha-aim to be unaware and they can attack later.

Cha-aim writes up her notes about the day’s event: that one should not judge a person from the outside. One should get to know a person from the inside. Some appear to be good from the outside, but will double cross you. Some wants to fault you but deep down are very thoughtful to you. And some people want you to think that they hate you, but they turn out to be the first person that helps you.

Cha-aim hugs her pink tablet to her chest as she thinks about Tum who came to her rescue today. As she walks out of the bathroom, Cha-aim drops the note given to her by the pervert; this gets discovered on the ground by Banjong, who went to the rendezvous point thinking that the note is from Pong. Karma is a bitch! The pervert hugs her from behind and they get discovered by the possessive wife, and Banjong gets a severe beat down.

Tum braces Cha-aim’s fall, catching her around the waist. He notices her feet are still on the rung of the ladder and he devilishly smiles at her, roughly pulling her to the ground where she lands with a thud. He steps away and laughs at his handy work while she moans in pain and irritation.

Picking a fight with her, Tum instigates that her fellow coyotes were on the news about getting arrested. Cha-aim indignantly tells him that she is not like one of them and tries to walk away. Tum still has a few things left to contend with her so he held her wrist to stop her from running away, but Khun Aon sees this and comes to his side. He does not have a problem “touching” Cha-aim, but when Khun Aon links her hands around his, he immediately unlinks them. Hah.

Tum decides to continue pegging at Cha-aim and see if she will fold under pressure. His aunt in law, Khun Cheun, asks if he could help her arrange a welcoming tea party for the Hello magazine who will be featuring her on their next column. Tum tells her that he is quite adept at planning last minute parties but that he would need assistance from one of her maids- and we know specifically which one he is referring to.

Cha-aim mutters to herself that “that Khun Tum” has been relentlessly drilling her, and it makes her paranoid that she will trip up and ruin her plans before she could even acquire any good research materials. Much to her chagrin, she has to tag along and help him shop.

Not only does Cha-aim has to watch her own back, now her “boyfriend” Pong has decided to impersonate himself as a maid as well, to protect her. But as he enters the mansions iron rod gates, Khun Pae notices him and immediately squeals with delight. Pong tells Khun Pae that he is looking to apply as a maid and when he learns that Khun Pae is conveniently hiring, he immediately accepts, not realizing that Khun Pae does not live in the same household as Khun Cheun. Pong soon realizes his mistake when Khun Pae leads him to an adjacent house and unceremoniously flirts and molests him, lol. But it is too late to turn back! It’s funny how Khun Pae refers to his all-male maids the names of the 4+1 superstars!

Meanwhile at the mall, Tum interrogates Cha-aim regarding her experience as a maid (since she told Khun Cheun that she has 3 years’ experience, this is coming back to bite her!) She throws him a stream of lies that she could clean, wash dishes, do laundry, cook, and even raise dogs without missing a beat. When she should have stopped talking, Cha-aim digs herself a little deeper and tells him that her entire lineage (dating back to the royalty days) were all servants. This is her calling. Cha-aim smiles at her small victory, thinking that she made Tum speechless.

Unfortunately, Tum is smarter than that and he doesn’t believe her boastings, and she is walking right into his trap. He tells her that because she has so much experience being a maid, then she would know exactly how to throw parties for the elite. Cha-aim confirms this. Then he gives her a task of making Au gratin for the tea party tomorrow. Now Cha-aim is speechless.

Off they go shopping! Cha-aim stresses out and buys time by faking a stomachache (that seems to be her handy excuse most of the time ha.) Once in the restroom, she soon came up with a brilliant idea. (Always good at thinking on her feet..) She looks up the ingredients on her smart phone and went to town selecting appropriate groceries, surprising Tum.

Pong on the other hand is exhausted from cleaning so he takes a nap on a large rock. A golden retriever mischievously meanders over and licks him, then strips him of his pants. Pong is left with only his underwear as he runs away from the dog. Khun Aon is searching for the naughty dog when she sees Pong by the pool, perverted and naked. He tries to stop her from calling the police while the naughty dog encircles their legs with his leash- and they both go heralding into the pool. Chaiyai, the dog, lies on the ground watching them, almost as if he is smiling at his handy work. Ah, we are introduced to our second pairing! The misunderstanding about Pong prancing around the yard with his underwear is cleared when they realized that Chaiyai has a sliver of his pants still stuck in his teeth.

For someone trying to convince others that she is a maid, she could not withhold her own true knowledge and personality. Tum and Cha-aim made their way to a tea shop so Tum could select tea for the party tomorrow. As they are given samples, Cha-aim naturally grasps the tea cup handle with ease and sips daintily. She teaches Tum the intricacies of tea. Tum is bewildered and asks her how she knows so much about tea. She catches her mistake and lies that her old boss taught her (despite already telling him that she spent a summer in England lol.) She has made him even more suspicious!

Even her story of raising dogs are questioned when she sees Chaiyai and immediately freaks out. She explains to Tum that she is only used to smaller dogs. She observes Tum greeting Chaiyai and it warms her heart. Who doesn’t like a man who is good and friendly with dogs? Cha-aim smiles wanly at the image before her then remembers that she has to put the groceries away.

Upon heading back to the servants’ quarters, Cha-aim sees Pong and discovers that he is the new maid for Khun Pae. Now she has to watch both their backs as Pong is obtuse and naïve as she is. Cha-aim tells him that they must act as strangers so as not to raise suspicions.

Khun Cheun summons a meeting with the maids, announcing the tea party tomorrow for Hello magazine and that everyone must behave and uphold a great impression. The following day, the maids dress up in their pretty uniforms and prep for the tea party. Tum arrives early to ensure everything runs smoothly and notices that Cha-aim is missing. He sees her talking to Pong and asks if he is her boyfriend. Cha-aim denies it but Tum does not let it go. It’s strange to him that they are not bf-gf’s when they have held each other’s hands twice. Then he brings up the stranger he saw talking to her at the gates the other day- Tum does not miss anything! He has eyes like a hawk.

Cha-aim keeps him away from the kitchen so he doesn’t see that she had her friend Nong bring over pre-cooked Au gratin for her. Luckily Tum gets called to host the guests.

Will this tea party run smoothly? We have such a funny, dysfunctional family and keeping them well behaved is somewhat impossible. Thankfully Cha-aim reveals a well-made Au gratin and impresses the crowd. But “that Khun Tum” asks her how she prepared them which got her stammering and excusing herself to the restroom, as per usual hah. Tum follows her to the servants’ quarter some time later and finds her in the kitchen. Cha-aim escapes the close call but realizes that the wrapping of the Au gratin is still lying on the kitchen counter. She hides it behind her back when Tum approaches her. They wrestle for the wrapping as he corners her against the counter. She is about to stumble but he catches her around the waist in time as they look into each other’s eyes. That is when Pong walks in and gets angry at the scene before him. He is about to pummel Tum’s face when he realizes that is the same man at the club. They find more excuses explaining how he and Cha-aim are acquainted.

Things got even more out of control: Khun Cheun is “singing,” her sister Khun Orathai brought the granny servants, who spill the entire plate of cookies on the floor, and proceeds to embarrass her sister with her inebriation. And finally to put the cherry on top, little Khun Aoy throws a batch of leaves filled with vicious ants to the crowd, where everyone gets bit. The tea party is ruined.

Khun Cheun is in a state of depression as she karaokes in her room. Cha-aim believes that tea cures everything so she brought hot, calming tea for Khun Cheun. The maids laugh at her attempt because they figured she would get a scathing from Khun Cheun- but it is the opposite. Khun Cheun feels immensely better and comes into the kitchen to thank Cha-aim and requests for another cup. The servant crew looks on with surprise and distaste (from Banjong.) Cha-aim has survived another day as a maid.

Tum on the other hand, is still trying to figure out this puzzle with Cha-aim, in his eyes, she is truly not an ordinary person.

He receives a visit from his mother who relents that she will no longer try to match-make him. (Is this a method to let his guards down? Heh.) Tum is relieved and happy to hear that. But Khun Cheun has her own plans for him, she tells her husband (Khun Phi) that only Tum is suitable for Aon. She even continues to order her husband to do everything in his power to help Tum and Aon carry on. Khun Phi is disinclined to do so but is too afraid of his wife to say no, so he calls his nephew and requests for his help in finding Aon a good English class so she can improve before studying abroad.

Meanwhile Banjong orders Cha-aim to go grocery shopping where Cha-aim learns that Tum is trying to get a hold of the agency that placed her. She, along with her friend Nong contrived for Tum to call her friend who pretends to be the agency owner. Thinking that they have escaped another close call, they soon discover that Tum is going to visit the agency to chat more directly.

For our second duo, Khun Aon and Pong fell into the pool together (yet again) and Pong gave her CPR to revive her. Little Khun Aoy shows up on time to take a picture of them “kissing” which she will later use to blackmail her sister.

At the pretend agency, Cha-aim and friends find a way to convince Tum of Cha-aim’s background. As Tum finishes up and goes to the bathroom, he sees her basket of groceries on the counter. Oh Cha-aim, you really aren’t careful are you? He hands the basket to her back at the house and tries to interrogate why she was also at the agency. Cha-aim explains that she worries about her job because he is always pestering her. She had to make sure she has plan B in case she gets fired. This seems to appease Tum (or made him feel somewhat guilty of always questioning her.)

That evening Tum goes in search for her at the servants’ quarters to continue their conversation from earlier. He is curious to learn why he made her feel “unsafe” with her position. She tells him that she is merely a maid, not a suspect under investigation. But Tum wants to get to the bottom of this and forces her to talk. At that same time, Jun appears around the corner so Tum is forced to pull Cha-aim into the restroom, where they pretend to take a shower and wrestle with the shower handle, hah. So cute. Jun decides to take a peek at her showering which rewarded him with a fierce douse of water in the face. Tum asks Cha-aim what she has done to inspire this peeping tom and Cha-aim indignantly exclaims that she is the innocent party here. Tum tells her that she is not trustworthy and he will keep his hawks’ eyes on her every move.

The next morning Tum is asked to take Khun Aon to go school hunting. While Khun Aon gets changed into a different outfit, she gets distracted by the horrible mess in her room. Apparently Little Khun Aoy has rummaged around and dressed herself up in her sister’s clothes. Khun Aon unfortunately cannot do anything since Aoy blackmailed her with the picture of her kissing Pong. Angrily, she searches for Pong and tells him to steal the phone from Khun Aoy.

Cha-aim bumps into Khun Phi and spills the coffee cup that is in his hands. She quickly dabs on his neck and shirt to help blot the coffee. Tum happens to walk in and sees how close they are and assumes she is trying to leech on to his uncle. Khun Phi thanks Tum for taking Khun Aon to go school hunting since he is the only one who Aon can trust. Tum explains that he thinks of Aon as only a sister, nothing will ever happen between them because she is not his “type.” And furthermore, if they were to be an item, it would have happened a long time ago. He adds that his parents even gave up trying to match make him. This pretty much clears up everything. Khun Phi sobers from this remark and feels guilty about pushing Aon on his nephew. He fixes the problem by ordering Cha-aim to tag along with Khun Aon and Tum.

School hunting deems difficult as Khun Aon feels highly insecure about her English and is afraid that she will be so behind everyone else. She is intimidated by the thought of learning English. By midafternoon, they have yet to discover a school of choice so they decide to go eat. Cha-aim recognizes a familiar face, Waen, the photographer at her school. She runs quickly away so he doesn’t see her face- thinking that she grabbed Khun Aon’s arm, but grabbed Tum’s arm instead- she proceeds to drag him away, leaving Khun Aon standing alone. Khun Aon mistakens Waan for her P’Tum and screeches in shock. She goes searching for Cha-aim and Tum. When they got further away, Tum asks Cha-aim who she was running away from but Cha-aim has a hard time explaining. Luckily Khun Aon found them and they all make their way to the restaurant. That was a close call, yet again for Cha-aim.

At the restaurant, Waen happens to walk into the same restaurant, which freaks Cha-aim out. She hides her face behind a menu and leans against Tum. Turning her face, she is so close; it is as if she kissed him. Cha-aim backs away nervously. Tum asks her to order and without thinking (and under pressure from trying to hide from Waen) Cha-aim bursts out in fluent English. This shocks everyone. Tum peels the menu from her hands and she jumps in shock and hides under the table.

Pong has been assigned to retrieve the phone from Little Khun Aoy. So as she is having a “tea party” with Jun and Chaiyai (the dog), he tries to find a way to steal the phone.

Tum searches for Cha-aim under the table but she is actually hiding behind him (lol) which causes another lip to lip close call as he turns his face to find her peering behind him.

Isn’t that quite creepy and funny at the same time? Lol. This show is too cute.

Kitchen Scholar Ep 1

Posted on October 30, 2012

Panyachon Kon Krua opens with a hustle and bustle. The collective students at the University are preparing to put on a show at the auditorium. The worst nightmare for any student is to wake up late for this special event. But such is the case for our leading lady, Amika, who rouses from a deep sleep at 8am, when she should have been at the school, preparing for her performance.

Amika is great at thinking on her feet though, which is a resourceful skill to have, so she quickly hails a cab, changes in the back seat into her costume and when traffic deems impossible to get there in time for her show, she hops on the motor taxi and bypasses the gridlock. She makes it to the stage right on queue as they perform a rendition of “Tick Tock” by Palmy.

The group celebrates their job well done back stage but we know that her time at school is not without conflict. Her nemesis, Apichat, storms in front of her face and spats that her performance was a bore and corny, and that his performance on the other hand was passionate. To break up the argument, their Professor announces a challenge for the whole class to partake: a scriptwriting contest. The winner will earn a fellowship to study in New York and they have two and a half months to compile such a masterpiece.

It would be a dream come true for Amika. Clearly money is not an issue, but getting accepted base on a competition is priceless. Apichat fuels her fire when he challenges her and tells her that she could not possibly write anything poignant or compelling due to her easy life. This begs the concept of “writing what you know.” But if you have not experienced it before, how are you able to write something meaningful and true?

So this commences Amika’s determination to find something worthy to write. She may not have the necessary experience, but she certainly have the gumption to learn.

Meanwhile in the mountainous terrain, two men hike their way to the top. The Secretary to the Minister tells the smaller man that he is currently looking for projects to recommend to the committee. The smaller man mentions that the Secretary always thinks about work (even while they’re hiking.)

The Secretary, by the nickname of Tum, receives a reminder phone call from his mother that he is to attend the charity event this evening.

Apparently Tum’s mother is chummy with Amika’s mother. They are acquainted due to their spouses’ involvement in politics: Amika’s father is a governor of Chiang Mai. And well- Tum is the Secretary to the Minister. Amika’s father likes to tease his wife that she should open a matchmaking consultancy, since she is so adamant about trying to find Amika a husband. His wife thinks that there are only bad men left in this world (gay and philanderers) so when a good man like Tum is within sight, one has to at least try to get them to meet.

There is an air of mysteriousness in their first encounter. They are at a masquerade ball, which I find bemusing since the mothers are trying to get the two to notice each other, but they picked a place where they can’t see each other’s real faces. Somewhat counterproductive, I say? Fortunately, this works to their advantage, as the pair does not realize they are being match made. And instead, upon seeing each other through their masks, they are instantly mesmerized. Tum especially, finds the lady in white quite intriguing.

After going for the same cocktail glass, Tum offers her the stem. Amika smiles at his chivalry and makes her way back to her parents while Tum keeps his eyes on her retreating back. She immediately feels a stir of discomfort in her stomach but her mom forces her on the dance floor. Amika finds herself in the middle, surrounding by couples dancing. Looking around uncomfortably, a lonely hand soon reaches out to her. It was him, Tum, who had offered her the drink a moment ago. She smiles and takes his hand and they dance. Their rhythm is in sync, their eyes on each other. After he spins her however, her stomachache returns full force and she stumbles on his toes a few times, losing her wit. When she cannot handle any longer, she flees the dance floor telling him that she must go.

Tum follows her down the hall, but around the corner he loses sight of her and only a pair of shoes remain behind. Smiling, he teases the mysterious lady for acting like Cinderella and yet, he sentimentally reserves her shoes for souvenir.

The following morning, Amika’s parents return to Chiang Mai, where her father is stationed. She remains in Bangkok with her housekeeper. Prior to going to the masquerade ball the night before; she had posted a question requesting ideas for her scriptwriting contest. She receives many responses and decides to try her hand with being a “coyote,” a bar dancer. Supposedly not the most safest nor respected profession, as she soon learns.

Her close friends along with Amika, tells the bar owner that they are “Korean” dancers (as if that is believable) and dresses up as scantily clad dancers with a wig to boot. That very night, they dance to the arrangement. Sitting in front of the stage is Tum, in his casual attire, watching the entourage before him. The cutest one trips and falls on his lap and he is momentarily mesmerized. She soon rights herself and he watches the group clumsily dance to the tune. The scene turns rowdy when one of the patrons could not retain his excitement and goes in for the manlier of the dancers (he really is a man lol.) The dancer strikes him and all hell breaks lose. The patron fires his gun and the crowd disperses.

Amika runs for her life but two men chase her. They got hold of her arm and proceed to drag her away. Luckily, Tum, the stranger she had fallen on, pulls his car to a stop. He tells them to let her go, but they wanted to pick a fight with him, so he humored them. With ease, Tum beats them to a pulp, and Amika watches on with amazement.

They soon climb into his car and Tum drives away from the scene, both unharmed. But things don’t always end that way and Tum is determined to remind her that she needed to rethink her profession. It is reckless and endangers anyone who decides to help her. Amika is appalled as she listens to his lectures. When he finishes- and she tells him to drop her off in the corner- he dismisses her (twice) from his car.

Amika stands at the side of the road watching his car steer away. She mutters to herself that if she were to have a boyfriend like him, she would be bored to death. But his words did not fall on deaf ears, when she sees her friends shortly afterward; she apologizes for endangering them- and thus becomes determined to do things on her own.

Testing out the waters, Amika attempts different jobs but fails miserably. Fed up, she complains to her housekeeper. Upon listening to her housekeeper’s trials and tribulations about her career, Amika is suddenly inspired. She knows what she will write about: a socialite impersonating a maid and revealing a bird’s eye view of what it is truly like to be a maid.

Everyone is against this, even her professor. But soon her friends support her decision and they help her sign up with a maid agency. The agency assigns her to Khun Cheun’s household, where she is introduced to the eclectic maids and a slew of family members residing within the mansion’s proximity.

Nark, a lesbian, is immediately attracted to “Cha-aim’s” good looks, and she becomes her roommate. There is the housekeeper (Sompit), BanJong and Jut (the gardener.) Cha-aim is thrown into chaos.

Nark introduces her to Khun Cheun, the boss who loves to karaoke but doesn’t realize how horrible she sounds. Khun Cheun interviews her about how long she has worked as a maid. Cha-aim says without thinking that it has been three years. She immediately regrets it. Before the boss could ask her any further question, a riot of shrilly voices enters the living room. It is Aoey and Aon, fighting over a tube of lipstick. The two are half sisters, Aon with a previous husband and Aoey with the current, and the two does not get a long for a minute. Cha-aim and Nark retreats away from the fight, and Nark shows her around the premises.

The first house they discuss is Khun Pae, who is Khun Cheun’s gay brother. He only hires male maids and refuses to have anything to do with women outside of his relatives. Second house is Khun Orathai and hubby who hires only old lady maids due to the hubby’s philandering ways. The third house adjacent to the mansion is Khun Cheun’s parents’ home. Grandma has Alzheimer’s and grandpa has a hearing problem.

But the world is so small. It turns out, Khun Cheun’s husband is Tum’s uncle, who is helping him research a few projects for the PM. After the tour, Cha-aim notices the white BMW that splashes by her as she was walking to the mansion. Little did she know that someone is in the car, collecting his papers. Cha-aim meanders towards the car and mischievously writes on his car window- inscribing that the owner is ill mannered. Tum sees her scribbling on his car and walks out to confront her, he asks what she is writing. Without skipping a beat, Cha-aim tells him. But as she turns around to face him, she gets a flashback of the man she had fallen on at the club.

She tries to run away, but he apprehends her. He takes a closer look at her face- she wishes fervently that he doesn’t recognize her- but he scrunches his eyebrows, thinking that she looks familiar. Before he could say anything though, she tries to distract him by making kissing faces at him. He is taken aback and pulls away. Aon witnesses this and shrieks. Cha-aim re-introduces herself to the misses and excuses herself, all the while walking away, hoping that he doesn’t remember her.

Cha-aim is assigned to help set the table with Nark and Banjong. Nark is friendly to her but Banjong likes to bully her. Khun Aon wants them to serve lunch foreigner’s style but the duo Nark and Banjong has no idea how to set the table properly. Cha-aim deftly put the dishes and utensils in their places- impressing Nark and making Banjong feel threatened.

However, Cha-aim grows restless and nervous when Tum joins the family for a meal. Her hands shook when she is pouring the water. Banjong takes the opportunity to bump into her, causing Cha-aim to pour the entire content of the pitcher on top of Khun Aon’s head- whom of course shrieked.

All of the maids said Cha-aim would have been severely reprimanded and possibly fired if Tum was not around (and Khun Aon didn’t need to impress him with her pretense calm.)

Tum excuses himself from the table- telling everyone that he needs to use the restroom- but he follows Cha-aim into the kitchen instead. He stands by the door watching her attempt to do the dishes. She jumps in shock when she sees him and drops the dish to the floor, where it breaks into pieces. He thinks she is up to no good because she is so antsy around him. She ignores his comment and tries to pick up the broken pieces but ends up cutting her finger. She mutters to herself that every time she runs into him, she always gets bad luck. He squats down to face her and recalls the face of the coyote girl who fell on his lap. Before he could say anything further, Aunt Sompit storms into the kitchen, exclaiming at the broken dish. Tum takes the brunt of the blame and tells the housekeeper that it was his fault.

Cha-aim stares at him with confusion. Why is he helping her? No matter, she is glad for the aid. She follows him to his car and thanks him for the help. He doesn’t return the friendliness. He tells her that the only reason why he helped her a moment ago is because she heeded his advice about choosing a different profession. Cha-aim becomes speechless because her fear became a reality, he did remember her! With him around, her research as a maid is going to become so much more difficult. He leans in closer to her and tells her to be a good maid, otherwise he would reveal who she is to the family.

Cha-aim dislikes the fact that Tum is treating her like she is some thief.

As Tum steers the car out of the driveway, he notices a man by the fence who is calling for Cha-aim. Suspicious, he watches them hold hands. Cha-aim manages to make her boyfriend, Pong, leave. Tum tells his friend to investigate Cha-aim’s background for him. He will not rest unless he figures out this mysterious puzzle that don’t quite fit together.

Back at the mansion, Khun Aon returns the punishment on Cha-aim, pouring water over her head. Already, there will be challenges before Cha-aim: she’s already butting heads with Banjong and now Khun Aon.

Cha-aim calls her best friend and confides about her day’s event: especially that she met the man who knew about her coyote “past.” She also mentions to her friend to keep Pong out of the picture because he would surely ruin her plans.

During the servant’s dinner, Cha-aim learns that everyone is indebted to Nark, who is smitten by her and defends her. Since they share a room, Cha-aim asks how Nark has so much money and how she feels about being a maid. Nark replies that she didn’t have to pay rent or buy food, she is able to save up a lot of money. Besides being a maid, she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Nark is very proud to be a maid, her masters could not survive without her. Nark changes the subject and hits on Cha-aim, asking her if she wanted to go take a shower with her lol. Cha-aim is able to avoid her advances.

For the first day on the job, things are already getting interesting.

The following morning, Cha-aim is disoriented when she wakes up, thinking that she is sleeping in her own room. The maids are setting up breakfast when Aunt Sompit passes gas and they tell her to take care of her business in the rest room. Hilarity ensues: Jud walks by the restroom thinking that Cha-aim is taking a shower. He peers through the bathroom window and intends to spy-but sees Aunt Sompit on the toilet pooping instead. Lol. Banjong punishes him for being a pervert.

Cha-aim and Nark are assigned to serve grandma and grandpa breakfast. Cha-aim experiences first hand this funny duo. Grandma could only retain information for 3 seconds and always asks Cha-aim who she is. Cha-aim catches on quickly and tells grandma her name before grandma could ask. Grandpa is hard at hearing and mistaken what he hears, causing funny misnomers.

Amika’s best friend warns Pong not to bother Aim. But she made the mistake of telling Pong what Aim is planning on doing. This freaks him out and he disappears before she could warn him further.

Meanwhile Cha-aim’s task is to clean the windows. As she steps on the tall ladder, Tum pulls into the driveway. He notices her standing on the ladder, cleaning the window. As he walks closer to the window, the ladder teeters and she slowly topples over. Running to her aid, Tum catches her in time before she hits the floor.

I cannot deny this charismatic duo. Moving forward, I will be recapping Panyachon Kon Krua. I am somewhat behind though, as we are at the middle of our series, so I beg for your patience.

Overthinking Panyachon Kon Krua

lovefia

Posted on October 29, 2012

Fast paced, funny, silly, and romantic are a few words to describe Panyachon Kon Krua thus far. The weekend’s installment, although lighthearted, still offers an emotional ride as we watch our nang ek Amika, receive more than what she signed up for. Her goal is to gain research material to write a show stopping script for her drama competition and achieve her dream of studying in New York. It is an innocent desire, a little white lie that she deems will not hurt anyone. But she never imagined to change and be changed so much, by it all.

Amika turns the household and employers to her cast of characters, slowly peeling away their layers, revealing a pretty dynamic cast. There is depth, contradictions and characteristics that are more than meets the eyes.
