What’s On My Radar (2013)

lovefia

Posted on December 29, 2012

The mark of a new year brings forth much anticipation, excitement and curiosity of what will come. It is also a great time to reflect the past year, what was accomplished, and what should improve.

In our make belief world of lakorn however, we can only enjoy what is given to us. And with that being said, I find myself excited for a rare few. (Yet my pondering mind still cannot help but imagine what could have been if I had things my way.)

raeng pradthana

First on my list, and first to air bright and early this new year is Raeng Prathana (Powerful Desires) starring Nadech Kugimiya and Kimberly Woltemas, the brother (Fai) and sister (Dr. Nam) in 4 Hearts of the Mountains. This time around, they are more established (quite the resume they have), more beautiful, and doubly more popular. Kimberley is taking on a different role, sounds more like a bitter woman who discovers she’s in love with a man she can’t have. So I’m hoping she has more character depth in this drama. Nadech plays more of the same, gentlemanly pr’ek. No matter how clichéd, I’m tuning in, if anything, just to see whether this “new” pairing will sizzle or fizz out. (Anony is subbing this one, and she’s real fast so I’m not sure if recaps are necessary.

Regardless, I am still considering this one as my new project, but it all depends on timing. When it will air and whether I’ve settled into my home yet. )

mayatawan

Following Raeng Prathana is Maya Tawan, first story of the 3 Musketeers series. You already know I’m looking forward (and will be recapping) this one in particular. There’s a lot to be excited for, 1. Aum Atichart, 2. Aum Atichart in a contemporary setting, 3. Aum Atichart with Yaya, and lastly 4. Girl power- Yaya + Matt + Margie. There is an obvious trend: I’ll pretty much watch anything Aum Atichart is in. ‘Nough said.

phanraiphairak

The final lakorn I’m looking forward to is Phan Rai Phai Rak starring Matt Peeranee and Film Rattapoom. It’s a compatible and interesting pairing.

I have a few more on my list, but I’m not sure if it will even film or air in 2013: Dao Kiew Deun (Janie + Aum Atichart), Rising Sun Series, the rest of Musketeers Series, Yah Leum Chan (Tik + Ann), Ton Rak Rim Rua (Mark + Kimberley).

Maybes: Ch.5 Koo Kum, Majurat See Nam Pueng (Ken T + Pichy), The Sixth Sense 2, Raak Boon 2, and I’m sure there’s more that will go on this list.

Passing: ALL Ch.7 lakorns- thanks, but no thanks.

Slim pickings you may say? I’m afraid so.. unless the other, myriad of lakorns airing in 2013 will wow me, grab my attention and surprise me. It’s happened before and I can only hope that it will happen again.

What about you, what’s on your radar?

On Khun Samee and Tawanchai

lovefia

Posted on December 19, 2012

Is there a time in your life where you want to like something, but you just can’t? I’m currently experiencing this. I like Chompoo Araya so I gave Khun Samee a gander (one episode, really) and didn’t find myself drawn. Then I cheated and read recaps for ep 2-4 from DarknessLakorns and it doesn’t sound like something I would continue. Rome’s character, although appearing to be the ideal man, just sounds so boring. Also, Chompoo is turning out to be quite mean, what’s appealing about that?

khunsamee

Speaking of which, Tawanchai Nai Marn Mek is not doing it for me either. Tawanchai, played by Taew, is an aspiring writer who wants nothing more than to write and read all day. Don’t we all? But there is such a thing as finding a means to support oneself so one can pursue writing. Luckily, Tawanchai aka Sun, is a manager at her parent’s resort who shrugs her responsibilities daily. Whenever she is reminded that she needs to “work” she throws little fits. If the resort goes down in flames and bankrupts itself from an irresponsible, obnoxious manager, than the parents have only themselves to blame. So far, Tawanchai is not looking too favorably to me, and if I don’t have to hear Taew shriek one more time, I wouldn’t miss a thang.

tawanchai

As for Boy Pakorn, he plays Nopathee who is the president of a tour guide company. (You can read the synopsis of the lakorn at Lyn’s Lakorn Blog.) I’ve never really been enthralled or go gaga over Boy Pakorn. I prefer reading about him and following his real life. He’s quite interesting in that regard. However in lakorns, he’s just- well, not stirring any interest. Anyway, he and Tawanchai butt heads from the beginning, which sets off constant bickering. Maybe this lakorn is just going after corny comedic reliefs and typical, clichéd pra’nang scenes? I love romcoms, don’t get me wrong, but this one so far is a miss for me. And since the pairing doesn’t do anything for me, I’m going to pass. The same goes for Khun Samee.

I suppose, to inject any positivity in this, I do like the OST in Tawanchai!

Which really, only leaves me to enjoy Nuer Mek 2 for the rest of Dec and early Jan. What are you occupying your time with?

Beyond Comparison II- First Impressions

The show is not over until the fat lady sings.

Airing in mid December, our new weekend primetime, Nuer Mek 2 (Beyond Comparison II) may just make it to my top 2012 lakorn list. From the production team, Metha Lae Mahaniyom- which brought us one of my favorite lakorns in 2011, Tawan Deard, a story about one man’s vendetta- Nuer Mek 2 examines the theme of good versus evil, amidst the political, philosophical and science fiction field. The story centers on Special Agent Sangkla, alongside his quirky employee, Sargeant Saming and they must stop Winyoo, the dark science (black magic) guru from finding the four divine weapons and reaching his full potential power. In the smaller scheme of things, Winyoo is the personal advisor to the Deputy Minister (sort of like Vice President, if you will) named Jak who wants to overtake Meka, the Prime Minister.

Ubatheehet Finale Ep 19

lovefia

Posted on December 15, 2012

Everyone, let’s take a deep breath. We’ve come thus far, to the final fork in the road where everything gets resolved, but more importantly, we have the last episode to focus mainly on our leading characters. Because putting the villains behind bars was so yesterday.

382076_444529708929405_45554544_n

“If you scream I will kiss you again!” he warns her.

He pulls her to the small boat on the beach. They sail towards the minor island and he pauses to show her their spot.

“I used to take you here to look at the sunset. Do you remember?”

She pretends not to.

“I brought you here for a picnic but you thought I was leaving you here stranded. You cried like a child.”

“That’s not funny,” she says as she falls on her butt. He helps her up.

“Do you remember now?”

“No. I just thought it wasn’t funny and I don’t want to hear it.”

Gusuma asks the receptionist in Aroon’s condo about his whereabouts. She learns that he’s headed to the upcountry.

Aroon and Whitney are on land now and he says they should have a nice picnic here, he has prepared all of the food. Whitney is like a surly child and says that she wants to go home instead.

“If you behave, I’ll take you home,” he says. “If you misbehave, then you’ll be here forever.”

She rolls her eyes.

He pulls out a pillow from his backpack.

“Freak! We can’t stay here, there’s no place to stay.”

“How do you know that,” he suddenly asks, hopeful. “Have you been here before?”

“When are you going to give up?” she asks. “No matter what you do, I won’t recall those memories about you.”

“I’m never giving up,” he replies.

They make their picnic and she prepares their jelly sandwich. He is about to take a bite of the jelly sandwich when she stops him.

“You can’t eat that! There’s some shrimp derivative in the jelly, you’ll die!”

“You do remember! I’m allergic to shrimp. You never forgotten about me, right?” his face is ecstatic.

She doesn’t answer and walks off. He comes behind her and hugs her.

“I’m happy that you remembered. More importantly, it makes me realize that you care about me.”

“Well now that you know, take me back home then,” she says.

“Why did you lie to me?”

“I wanted you to forget me. So we can start our own new lives, without anyone feeling hurt or remorse,” replies Whitney.

“I can never forget you. Just like you’ve always remembered me.”

She pulls away from his hold, “but there won’t be a happy ending for us.”

“Maybe so, in the past. But now things have cleared up. Your father has accepted me.”

“But there’s still Gusuma..”

He reassures her with his hands on her shoulders, “There is nothing between me and Gusuma.”

“But she loves you. I don’t want to hurt her- like the way I’ve hurt Khun Non.”

“I will talk to her. Friends should be happy for friends. I’m positive she will understand,” he brushes her hair from her face. “You need to give me a chance. Give us both a chance to start over.” He cups her face and kisses her forehead. He leans down and kisses her cheeks, with the sound of the sea washing against the rocks, and the background song sings about how they are meant to be together.

Some time later, Whitney returns to Bangkok to first apologize to Dekcha’s mom, for lying to her about having amnesia. Dekcha and Nut apologize to Whitney for making that plan of drugging her drink. Whitney tells them that she’s not angry at them, she turns to Aroon who is standing behind her, “I’m more mad at you,” she teases.

“So I’m wrong then?” he pouts, “You tricked me first. Ok fine, I was wrong. I’ll admit it.”

As Whitney plays soccer with the kids, Dekcha asks Aroon when he’s planning on making his move (marriage.) He doesn’t want to be hasty because it has been difficult to be with her, and he has hurt her family so much that he doesn’t dare speak of it so soon. Dekcha says that he is stressing too much over it. His friend encourages him to do something quick so he can show how honest and true he is with her.

Ah, Dekcha always the smartest. He tells Aroon, “if you see Whitney as someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with, you need to make her as well as her family, feel confident in you.”

Nut helps Aunt Pim with the dishes and the tables are turned on her. The older woman wants to know when she and Dekcha will finally end up together? Nut looks uncomfortable at the prospect.

“Do you not care about my son then?” Aunt Pim asks. “He must not be your type then. When you meet your ideal man, be sure to introduce him to me.”

Nut thinks to herself, “it’s not that I don’t care about your son. He’s the one who doesn’t give me the time of day.”

So the next work day, Dekcha hands out an invitation to the company’s anniversary. The three girls surmise that it’s probably an excuse to introduce Whitney and Aroon as an item. Then they direct their attention to Dekcha and wonders when he will find his happy ending?

Dekcha looks confused. “Me? Who am I supposed to end up with?” he asks. “My life is filled with home and work. I haven’t met anyone who is suitable for me.”

“It’s Nut of course,” the girls say.

Nut walks adjacent to the showroom and overhears him saying loudly, “I don’t want her. A person like me needs a girlfriend I can show off, not that kid!”

Nut is saddened by his words.

Screen Shot 2012-12-14 at 11.40.26 PM

The anniversary party is heavily underway that evening. Khun Amnui sees Aroon and tells him he needs to speak with him. Dekcha and Nut also appear and the girls compliment on how pretty Nut is. They tell her to dress up more often so she can meet a potential man who is handsome and rich, so the person around there will regret it.

Dekcha plays it off with a laugh and tells them to drink so they don’t talk so much.

Aroon looks around for Whitney and sees her descending the stairs in her orange flowing romper.

“You’re beautiful,” he says. “But you’re missing something.”

He takes out a red velvet box with a necklace inside.

“What’s the occasion?” she asks.

“I wanted to adorn you.”

She smiles shyly and turns around for him to put the necklace on her.

“This is just a necklace,” he says, “wait until our wedding and I will give you a ring.”

“Who’s going to marry you?” she retorts.

“If you won’t marry me, who would you marry then?” he asks.

“There are some out there.. I have a lot of male friends abroad too.”

“I bet they’re all married by now.”

She teases, “Are you sure?”

He pulls her into his arms, “You are forbidden to marry anyone else. Have you forgotten what’s between us? Or should I refresh your memory?”

Nut doesn’t mean to interrupt them but she needs to find the restroom as she has punch spilled all over her dress. Whitney brings over a few dresses for her to choose.

Khun Amnui and Aroon have their talk.

“What do you say if I tell you that our Sales Manager position is open? And I want a talented person to come back and work for me?” Khun Amnui asks. “Just think about it.”

Aroon asks for Whitney to dance with him. Nut walks out with a new dress and Dekcha is speechless.

As Aroon dances with his girl, he says that she hasn’t responded to his marriage proposal.

“If I refuse, will you take back the necklace?” she asks.

He smiles, “No. I’ll just kiss you in front of everyone so no one else dares to.”

She shakes her head.

In the dark corner, Gusuma spies on them and promises to wreak a vengeance on her. She takes out a gun and aims. Dekcha sees her and throws himself on Aroon as Gusuma fires. It appears as if he was shot in the back.

Her friend from abroad also came to wrestle the gun from Gusuma. They take the victims to the hospital and she introduces her family to Anthony, her friend from England. Aroon could only stand with his arms folded across his chest, jealous. He is the one to buy out Yoting’s hotel.

“You guys seem close,” Aroon mentions as they walk out.

“We’re very close,” she says, “he came here to see me so we can rekindle our old friendship.”

“You enjoy yourselves then,” he said abruptly, “I’m going to check on Dekcha.”

Whitney is confused by his change in mood.

A body is rolled out of the emergency room and Nut immediately thinks Dekcha is dead. She throws herself on the body and cries. Then she hears his voice from behind the technician. There he is, standing there with a sling around his shoulders. She hits him and throws her arms around him at the same time.

“Dekcha is fine,” Aroon confirms, “the bullet ricocheted on him. He just passes out when he saw his own blood.”

The girls tease Nut for hugging a dead body. Dekcha teases her again for being so over the top. Nut angrily tells him that she’s sorry that her concern seems over the top to him.

Nut cries in the cab ride home, feeling foolish.

Oh, and Aroon, so insecure of himself. He goes back to his condo, jealous and upset about Whitney’s old “friend.” He remembers his conversation earlier with her, that if she won’t marry him, who would she marry? She replies that there were friends abroad to choose from. To him, it seems to be closer to the truth.

Aroon goes to see Whitney the next day but he just missed her, she went on wedding business.

His face pales and he heads back to his car. Kongkaew asks Khun Amnui why he didn’t tell Aroon that Whitney went to look for wedding materials for a friend. Khun Amnui replies that Whitney told him to say that.

Nut doesn’t go to work as she needs to pick up her aunt from the airport. That night Dekcha confronts her.

“Why weren’t you at work?” he asks.

“I’m resigning. I’m going to be traveling out of the country.”

“So it’s true?”

“Yes.”

“Why.”

“I figured I would continue my education and help my aunt with her restaurant,” she replies.

He advises, “You can continue your education here. I can help you find one.”

“No thanks. I’d rather go there.”

“Why? What about this house?”

“I will sell it.”

He takes her hand, “No. You can’t sell this. We grew up together.”

“Everything must eventually change, P’Cha.”

“Nothing will improve if I stay here,” she says. “I don’t have any parents. I don’t even have my sister anymore. I’m no longer attached to this place.”

“What about me?”

She removes her hand from his. “We are just neighbors, isn’t that right?”

She walks away; he can only look forlornly at her.

I guess you don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone (or leaving..)

Dekcha vents to Aroon about Nut.

“I’m not used to it. If I don’t have her close, to mess with me.. to ring the tin can so we can chat at night.. who runs and wakes me up in bed.. even when I slept in the nude,” he recalls this with a smile, still not realizing how he truly feels about her.

He’s smart with everyone else’s issues, except his own.

“If she moves, I’d be very lonely.”

Aroon smiles. “That’s just it? You are only lonely if she leaves? Nut has a heart and if you’ll only miss her for that, then I don’t agree with you. Let her go.”

He walks to his friend, “but if there is more in your heart, then tell her.”

Aroon admits to Dekcha that he’s jealous of her foreign friend. They both split up to take care of their business.

Aroon goes to see Whitney and learns that she’s choosing wedding favors with Anthony. This upsets him because he feels she is in such a rush to get married again. Lol.

Dekcha is trying to find the gumption to admit his feelings for Nut. He rings the tincan and tries to call her to no avail. On the other end of the can, Nut cuts the string, for the second time, severing it.

Dekcha has made up his mind, there really is something more with the way he feels about Nut. He can’t lose her now. He phones Aroon to help him and they search the airport for Nut, but then he realizes that it’s too late.

Dekcha doesn’t want her to leave without knowing how he feels about her.

Nut is in the restroom when a stranger asks to use her cellphone. She notices a call from Dekcha. He’s crying over the phone, that he is saddened that he didn’t get to see her off. At first he is angry and confused as to why she decided to move, but it makes him realize how he feels about her. He knows that in all aspect of his life, aside from his mother, she has always been there for him. She’s his sister, friend, co thinker and lover. He just realized how important she is to him. It’s no use for him to say these things since she might already be on her way to Singapore. But he needed to let her know. Nut is listening to this, holding in her sob. He tells her that he loves her and it isn’t something that developed over night. It occurred through the span of their lives together. He has never felt this way about anyone before. He wishes her well.

Nut stands in the airport, crying.

As Dekcha sits on the couch at home, he says to Aroon, “it looks like I have to start saving money to go to Singapore.”

A voice from behind them says, “no need to anymore.”

They both turn to see Nut standing there.

Dekcha pulls her in for a bear hug, not believing his eyes. “Is this really you?”

“Of course. I didn’t board the plane yet and someone called with a long message. How could I go? I didn’t really get it over the phone. Can you repeat it?”

Dekcha’s all shy, “I can’t say it anymore.”

“Just say whatever you remember then.”

“What I remember..” Dekcha looks into her eyes, “I love you.” He kisses her hand. “What about you? Do you love me?”

“Why would I return then?”

They embrace.

Aroon smiles at them.

Unfortunately for him, Whitney is gone with Anthony again. Whitney makes everyone say things to make Aroon misunderstand her.

Aroon goes back to the beach house and thinks about his good times with Whitney. He displays all of the wind chimes in a string. As he turns around, he sees Whitney.

“What are you doing here?” he asks.

“Well, you came out here and didn’t invite me,” she replies.

“I noticed how busy you were with the wedding details. I didn’t want to bother you.”

“Really? That is true. I was really busy.” She plays with the wind chimes.

“Why are you wasting your time here then? Or are you looking for a honeymoon spot? It’s not pretty here.”

“I’m not going to have my honeymoon here. I’m tired of this place already. Besides, it’s up to the bride and groom, not me.”

Aroon looks at her with confusion.

“Anthony and Sofia, his bride of course.” She shows him a picture of them.

“So you’re not going to marry Anthony?!” he asks.

“He’s my friend, of course not.”

Aroon beams.

“How come you didn’t tell me?”

“Well you didn’t ask.”

He reaches for her neck, “I could kill you, Whitney!”

“Why?” she asks.

“You messed with me. You drove me crazy, don’t you know? I thought you would leave me for him.”

“Next time ask, ok?”

“There’ll be no next time,” he says, “because you’re not getting close to any other guy.”

They smile at each other and he takes her hand.

“Will you stay here with me?”

“We have to go back to work. Are you coming back?”

“If I get my old secretary back.”

“Who else would she work with?” Whitney teases.

“Give me two days and I will follow you back,” he tells her.

Man, they are cute.

As Whitney walks back, Gusuma comes from behind her. Oh yeah, there’s that bitch we still have to take care of.

Whitney comes to consciousness and finds herself in the car with Gusuma, who tells her she’s sending her to hell.

Whitney reaches her phone quietly and dials Aroon’s phone, he could overhear their conversation. Gusuma says she will make her death seem like an accident. Yep, we’re still sticking to the theme!

The cops are called and everyone work together to find out where Gusuma took Whitney. The cops trail Gusuma’s car but she doesn’t stop. They fight for the steering wheel until the car hits a tree.

Screen Shot 2012-12-15 at 12.51.37 AM

Aroon volunteers to donate his blood to Whitney. Aroon, Dekcha and Nut go to see Gusuma, who is safe but just battered. She wants to know if Whitney is dead. Gusuma screams at everyone until she saw the cops, they want to question her on the premise of kidnapping and attempted murder. She tries to run but her legs don’t move.

Well, there’s karma, she’s pretty quick. Su is handicapped.

Aroon doesn’t weaken his resolve to see her. He says it’s the best way to help her. He too learns how important it is to end someone’s hopes.

Aroon refuses to leave Whitney’s side. He wants to be the first person she sees when she wakes up. He talks to her while she’s asleep, cajoling her to wake up.

Whitney hears Non’s voice telling her to return and to stop blaming herself for Non’s accident. Non says that everything happened because of fate, not because of Whitney. She tells Whitney to go and live her life. Aroon loves her very much, more than he has ever loved Non, don’t let him lose another person that he loves. Non asks Whitney to take good care of Aroon and love him for her.

Whitney’s eyes slowly flutter open. She sees Aroon sleeping by her bedside. She touches him with tears rolling down her face. He hugs her and tells her that he cannot live without her. They reunite with tears of joy. Her parents join them but finally let the two rejoice.

The four visit Non’s burial and say their final farewell.

Aroon walk Whitney to a beautiful overpass.

Screen Shot 2012-12-15 at 1.24.34 AM

“You haven’t told me what Non said to you.”

“I don’t know if it was real or a dream. Let me keep it to myself.”

“But people who love each other should not have secrets.”

“How about I share it with you when the timing is right,” Whitney relents.

“Then we’ll have to rush the wedding. It’s a good thing, Cha won’t be able to marry before us.”

“I’d like to ask you for the final time, are you sure.. that you will love me with all of your heart?”

“Why do you ask me that? How many times would you like me to tell you.. that I love you?” he asks in return.

They embrace atop the overpass.

“I can’t tell you how I fell in love with you. One heart loves you. The other is cautious of you. And then one of them wants to run away. But you must not know that every time I look at you, all of those crazy feelings play together. I want to run away, I want to get close to you,” he brushes her hair out of her face and cups her cheek.

“Is that why you’re always looking to start a quarrel with me? You even wanted me in jail.”

“I’m aware that it was an unforgiveable stupidity on my part. But I guarantee that from now on, I am going to pay for all of the bad things I’ve done to you. By loving you as much as possible- with every minute, with every breath. You will never be hurt because of me again.”

She smiles.

“Will you give me another chance?” he asks.

“Yes. We’ll each other another chance,” she replies.

The song sings about how they are meant to be together. Aroon leans down and they kiss to seal the deal. They embrace each other with love, depth and feeling.

**

You know, I must say, after all of the bullshit they’ve put each other through (put us through for that matter) I am quite pleased with the ending. It was sweet and really shows off the chemistry between Aump and Om. They were the saving grace for this lakorn, after all. I could care less about the plot, storyline or even villains. I’m just glad they had their happy ending, learn their lessons and well, close off this recapping business for channel 7!

Thanks for tuning in to my recaps! Feel free to share your two cents. What think you of this drama? Did you lose hair like I did?

** Special thanks to Sleepy20’sTv for the wonderful full length episodes!

Forgiving Yourself – Ep 18 Ubatheehet

lovefia

Posted on December 15, 2012

We are an episode away from the finale, where Mr. Aroon and Whitney can finally hash out their twisted, angsty love and give us an answer on whether a tragic death- a shared history in which one is responsible for killing the other’s beloved- allow them to end up peacefully together? And preferably minus any further accidental deaths, or contrived memory losses. And it is becoming even clearer towards our finale, that the bigger question is not whether Aroon can forgive Whitney- because he has- but it remains in Whitney’s interpersonal conflict, can she truly forgive herself? There’s certainly a lot of smooches on her journey to figure it out!

526344_439845682731141_932814776_n

We continue on from last episode where Aroon is found sitting on the bench in the hospital, having to decide whether he should persevere or throw his hands up in dismay. Gusuma peers at him from the corner, disgusted at the love that she will never receive.

While Aroon contemplates his next move, Dekcha and Nut try their hands in different careers: Dekcha serving as a cab driver, while Nut attempting to be a cook. Both later realizing that it’s not their calling. However, they become the two that helps move the story forward to its climax, acquiring enough evidence to incriminate both Yoting and his mother.

They receive news regarding Vivian and immediately goes to see her. She admits the whole truth about Yoting and his mother, in front of Aroon, Dekcha and Nut. She tells them that they are the ones who hurt the president and is after his wealth. Aroon is terrified for Whitney and tries to see her at the hospital but she has already been released. On his way to Khun Amnui’s room however, he notices a man sneaking in. Before he could inject the poison, Aroon stops him in time and comes face to face with Achit. They quarrel it out until Achit gets away.

Aroon decides to make Whitney aware of her father’s second murder attempt, but she refuses to see him, allowing the housekeeper to keep him at bay. Dekcha advises him not to give up and they proceed with their plan of acquiring the evidences. Dekcha and Nut return back to work and accept the lowered position as security guard and maid, as means to obtain evidence. Unfortunately they couldn’t find anything incriminating at the office so Vivian advises them to search Yoting’s condo. It is a risky attempt because Yoting brings over a lover the same time they are searching for the documents. Nut is able to snag an envelope before they are discovered. But fortunately, Yoting is not aware that they took anything important.

Gusuma is insane. She tries to pour acid on Whitney, hoping to mar her beauty so Aroon could love her less. But she fails and ends up falling into the acid herself, damaging her forearm.

Kongkaew confronts (albeit quietly) Whitney. She catches her drift and says that Whitney is not really amnesiac. The doctor mentions that she does not have any of the symptoms that typical amnesiac patients have. Whitney admits to the lie and begs for her stepmom not to tell anyone. She confesses that this is the best way to get rid of Aroon. If she could, she would continue with her amnesia for the rest of her life. Kongkaew only hopes that Whitney does not regret her decisions.

The following morning Aroon tries to visit her father at the hospital but a security guard greets him. Yoting has hired a guard to keep Aroon away from Khun Amnui. Angry that Whitney would think that he would ever harm her father, Aroon immediately rushes to see her at the house.

“Do you really believe that I would hurt your father? Why do you hate me so much?”

“I have no feelings towards you, whether it is love or hate. I don’t remember you.”

“I’m starting to suspect that,” he grabs her arm. “I’ve been trying to be a gentlemen, but all I get is your spite. How bout I try my own method and see if this will jog your memory?!”

Aroon pulls her face in for a searing kiss. “Does that ring a bell?” He kisses her again.

She pulls away and slaps him three times.

Well, that worked out well for you, Aroon.

The day before the wedding rolls on and Whitney is taking professional wedding pictures with Yoting. She keeps placing his face with Aroon’s face. And at the same time, Aroon is hurting himself by watching them from afar.

He returns back to his condo only to find Gusuma instigating again. She shows him a newspaper article about the pending nuptials between Whitney and Yoting. He’s furious and tells her to get out. This infuriates her and she goes to see Whitney who is visiting her father at the hospital. Gusuma hands her two gifts, one for her father and the other for her wedding. She hesitates to open it, but Gusuma forces her too, and she sees a small picture frame with Non’s picture in it. Gusuma laughs insanely and says that it will remind her that she is able to get her wedding day while Non will never be able to. Kongkaew saves Whitney from the wrath of psycho Gusuma.

Whitney finally reconciles with Kongkaew. She says that she finally realizes why her father fell in love with Kongkaew- it’s because Kongkaew loves him very much and unconditionally. She has proven herself to Whitney and Whitney is willing to accept her. She even asks Kongkaew to run the wedding day as her sister.

That night Aroon uses the final method to talk to Whitney- he climbs the gates and sneaks into her room.

Whitney spins around in shock to find him there. “How did you get in here?” she asks.

“Don’t scream,” he says.

“I told you I don’t want to see you!” she replies.

“You can’t marry him! He’s cheating your company. This is not a joke,” he adds.

Aroon gives her the sheet of evidence. Without even looking at it, Whitney tears it apart. She doesn’t believe him and even calls the cop that someone has broken into her room. Aroon is forced to leave.

The three people, Aroon, Dekcha and Nut decide that the best option is to reveal the truth in front of everyone in the wedding.

Later Aroon came to see Khun Amnui’s sleeping form. He tells the older man that Whitney is getting married, and that he doesn’t want her to get married. Aroon knows what Yoting and his mother is up to and he will do everything in his power to stop the wedding, no matter how much she will hate him for the rest of her life.

As Aroon stands to leave, he notices Khun Amnui’s finger moving.

The day of the wedding arrives and the bride and groom walk on stage. Meanwhile, Dekcha and Nut pass around a sheet of paper to the guests. Kongkaew takes hold of one and rushes to the stage.

“What is the meaning of this?” she asks Kon Ying. “Did you really cheat Khun Amnui’s company?”

“That is true!” Dekcha announces from the back. “There are more condemning evidences and we have already sent them to the cops.”

Vivian makes her appearance which shocks both Kon Ying and Yoting, they thought she was dead, and she reveals their intentions of killing Khun Amnui to take over his company.

Whitney stares at them in disbelief, “It’s true then?” she asks Yoting, rhetorically. But Yoting denies it.

“Stop lying!” Aroon shouts from the back room. As he steps aside, a wheelchair reveals Khun Amnui sitting there weakly. He tells everyone that Kon Ying and her son has cheated his company and is responsible for attempting to kill him. He tells them that they will both go to jail.

The cops appear from the entrance and apprehend Yoting, but his mom runs away. Yoting chases after her but it is too late. She is running and does not look ahead, a large van comes barreling across the street and runs her over.

I digress, this lakorn is aptly named. Accidents galore.

Back at the reception, Whitney runs into her father’s arms, so glad to see him safe.

“How come no one told us you were awake?” she asks.

Aroon says that he was the one to tell the nurses to keep quiet for fear of it leaking to the Yoting’s. Khun Amnui thanks Dekcha, Nut and Aroon for helping him, especially Aroon, for saving his life. Everyone then wonders what happened to Achit.

The following morning Aroon visits Whitney’s mom’s house to see if Achit is around. He spots the man trying to run away with a backpack. They tussle around until Achit gets out a gun and starts shooting. He jumps on a motorbike and makes a run for it. Aroon makes chase but fortunately, Achit falls into the cops’ hands and he gets apprehended.

They learned that Waew, Whitney’s mom is in the upcountry and is safe. This offers a peace of mind for Whitney. Aroon returns the bag of jewelry to her, since it may have belonged to her mother’s. She examines them thoroughly and adamantly says it belongs to her mom.

“Are you sure?” he asks her.

“I remember these things.”

“So your memory is back?” he asks.

Whitney stumbles on her words, “I used to see her wearing them.”

“And she wore them all at once?” he questions. Lol.

Khun Amnui watches them from across the room with a smile. He tells his wife that he is giving Aroon the green light. Kongkaew questions whether that is a good idea since Whitney is pretending to have amnesia to get rid of him. Khun Amnui replies that for a while now, he has been pushing her to a man he doesn’t really know that well. While he’s been trying to stop the man whom he knows is a good man. It turns out, Khun Amnui now believes that Aroon is the best man for Whitney. Kongkaew apologizes and owns up to the fact that she didn’t know the mother son duo all that well either, and shouldn’t have been so quick to support them.

They listen further to Whitney and Aroon’s exchange.

“I’m just wondering why you can remember some things, but then nothing that has to do with me?” Aroon asks.

“It’s because they are all bad memories,” Whitney replies.

“They can’t all be bad. They are meaningful to me,” he says. “Now that bad things are over, you should know that I’m not like what Yoting and his mom accuses me of. How come you can’t give me a chance?”

“You want me to open my heart to a new man right after my fiancé is apprehended?” she asks.

“What should I do?” he asks in return. “We are not strangers.”

“Just stop trying,” she advises coldly.

“I’ll just consider that you’re tired and you don’t mean it. I’ll leave and come back another time.”

As he leaves, Khun Amnui approaches his daughter.

“You were the one who told him to leave, why are you sitting here all hurt?” he asks. “I heard everything from Kongkaew now. Why are you tormenting yourself?”

“It’s the best way out. We cannot end up together,” Whitney replies.

“Why?” her father asks. “He seems to love you.”

“He doesn’t love me. He just feels remorse for what he has done.”

“How do you know that?”

“Because how can one accept a woman that made one’s girlfriend die?” Whitney questions in return. “Even the thought depresses me. What about him? He must feel the same way. Today he might forget but over time it’s only going to come back and hurt us.”

Khun Amnui offers a piece of advice to his conflicted daughter. “That is no reason to torture yourself this way, girl. Let the self-recriminations go. Don’t hold on to it by throwing away your potential happiness.”

Whitney turns to her father, “I don’t believe I deserve to be happy.”

As we see her crying into her pillow, she hears her father’s voice in her head, “our lives are short honey, suffering and happiness are recurrence in our lives. If we’re still breathing, we will encounter these two states. I believe that in the time that has passed, you have been taught many life lessons. Therefore, it is time to forgive yourself.”

The next morning Dekcha and Nut contrive to bring Aroon and Whitney together. They invite both over for dinner and proceed to put some sleeping pills into Whitney’s drink. Nut believes that good memories are not easily forgotten. Dekcha is sure that if Aroon takes Whitney back to the place that gives them good memories, she will in turn remember him again.

They blindfold her and put her in the car. Aroon at first doesn’t support this, but eventually gives in and drives her off towards the beach town.

Whitney slowly wakes up on their way to the beach town. She thrashes in her seat and tells him to remove the hand ties. Once arriving to the beach house, Aroon asks her if she remembers where they are. She tells him that she doesn’t have any memories that pertain to him. He promises her that if she stays here with him for a bit, she will recall everything.

Whitney dashes out of his sight but he catches her before she could scream for help. As she continues to fidget and call out, he kisses her to shut her up. Kekeke.

Tune in for the finale recap!

Playing the Amnesia Card- Ep 17 Ubatheehet

lovefia

Posted on December 14, 2012

This episode gives a closure about Non’s involvement with Yoting, as well as a playback/reminiscent of how the possessiveness from Gusuma came about. Whitney figures out the best option for her to deal with Aroon, and how to push him away forever. They both are, in different circumstances and episodes, so ruthless with each other. Such a sad, toxic love they share.

67874_472900512761366_1035421324_n

Yoting hires Achit (Whitney’s mom’s boyfriend) to search Aroon’s condo for the cd of his indiscretion with Non. He gets caught by Dekcha and Nut who are visiting Aroon that afternoon. Without determining whom the intruder is, Aroon could guess who sent the man. He says that they did not obtain what they were looking for. He shares the video with Dekcha and Nut, but before it could be finished, Nut begs for him to turn it off. She turns her head into Dekcha’s shoulders, upset by what she has seen.

“I don’t want you to see her in a bad light,” Aroon says, “but I don’t want to hide it from you or have you find out from someone else.”

He looks away, remorse. “It was my fault, if I gave her more attention, this would not have happened.”

“Who took that video clip?” Dekcha asks.

“Gusuma,” Aroon replies.

The two are stunned.

Nut sits on the nearest chair, “I feel badly for P’Non, who had a bad friend and met a bad man.” She turns to Aroon, “What are you going to do with the CD?”

“Nothing can be fixed now,” he says. “I won’t be the one to destroy her honor, she has already lost so much. I’m going to give it to you and you can decide what to do with it. And we will never speak of this again.”

At the end of the day, Dekcha tells Nut that bad people will receive their punishment. It may not happen as fast as they’d like, but no one can escape karma. He advises her to destroy the cd and breaks it in half. Nut looks on with understanding.

Aroon reminisces on his friendship with Gusuma, how it started and where they are at now. He could now see how much she has forlornly followed him and loved him.

Meanwhile Vivian learns that she is pregnant with Yoting’s child and decides to confront him at home. Kon Ying pays her to get an abortion but Vivian refuses. Which causes Kon Ying to go behind Yoting’s back and hires Achit to take care of Vivian. Unfortunately as Achit prepares to kill her, she oversteps and pummels into a ditch. The man assumes that she is dead.

In the morning Whitney does a blessing with the monks who do their morning visits.

She sees Aroon’s car veering into her driveway. She tries to walk away but he stops her.

“What do I need to do so you will stop bothering me?” she asks.

“Nothing,” Aroon explains. “Just listen to me first.”

He brings up that night, where she brought up the topic of Non and Yoting. “What you were trying to tell me- when we were stuck in the storm together- do you remember?”

She peers at him.

“Now I know the truth,” he says, “I’m sorry that I-“

She cuts him off, “No need. It’s none of my business.”

“And you’re still going to marry Yoting even though you knew he’s not true to you?”

“I don’t determine someone by a mistake they’ve made once, unlike you,” she spat.

He grabs her by the shoulders, “Don’t you remember what went on between us?”

“Nothing happened between us except for an accident! I’ve already paid for it, so we have nothing-“

He interrupts her, “There is something between us. What about this?” he pulls her in for a searing kiss. “I don’t believe that you’ve forgotten it!” He pulls her in again for another kiss.

She pushes away and slaps him. “It’s meaningless to me.”

He grits his teeth, “we’ll see about that!” he lifts her into his arms and deposits her into the car. “I’m going to take you to a place where we can be alone.”

She fights him and before they could make it out of Bangkok, she runs out of his car. Whitney tries to cross the street but a motorbike gets in her way and she stumbles back, falling onto the ground where her head hits the pavement.

And we have another hospital visit! I’m not sure how many times the characters in this drama has visited the hospital, it is almost a typical setting for them now lol.

Yoting tells the cops that Aroon kidnapped his fiancé so the cops had to apprehend Aroon. Gusuma wants to bail him out but he refuses, telling her that he doesn’t want anything to do with her now. Dekcha and Nut promises to look after Whitney and give him daily reports. Nut tells Gusuma not to meddle with any of them anymore. She confronts her about Non and how she backstabbed her best friend. Gusuma glares at Nut and says that Non deserved it. She even goes as far as saying that karma did it to Non. Nut tells Gusuma that one day karma will get her as well.

When she arrives home Gusuma phones Yoting and tells him to remove his complaint about Aroon with the police. Yoting doesn’t acknowledge and instead comes to her home to search for the video clip. He doesn’t give up when he finds nothing at Gusuma’s home, and decides to search Aroon’s condo himself. Of course there isn’t anything to find (since it’s been destroyed), only a fisticuff between him and Aroon, before Aroon points the gun at Yoting and tells him to leave the premises.

Even though no one wants him to visit Whitney, Aroon is still persistent. He feels responsible for her condition and wants to make sure she is ok. Kongkaew tells him that he has caused her enough pain. If he truly cares about her, he would stop meddling in her life. He should stay away.

Not that he would heed any of that advice. He finds a way to see her for himself.

When Whitney gains consciousness, she looks at Kongkaew and Dekcha as if they are strangers. She tells them that she doesn’t recognize their faces or know who she is.

Upon hearing this, Aroon feels remorse and wants to see her. He arranges for Dekcha to help him. They meet in the hallway, where he grips her forearms.

“I don’t remember you,” Whitney says. “Who are you?”

Dekcha introduces Aroon as one of her friends, then he and Nut leaves the hospital.

“My friend?” Whitney asks.

“We’re not just friends,” Aroon places her hand at his heart, “Do you remember the sound of this heart? You used to listen to it.”

“Why?” she asks, looking perplexed.

“We love each other. You used to love me and I love you- some time ago you stayed with me in a beach town, then you left me,” he says. “I don’t need anything, I just want my beloved back.”

She shakes her head.

He pulls her in for a hug. “And do you remember this hug?”

Before she could respond, Yoting turns him around and punches him.

And from the way she holds on to Yoting’s arm, we know that Whitney is merely pretending that she has amnesia. She’s intentionally pushing Aroon away. She tells him that how can she believe that there is anything going on between them when she is engaged to Yoting? In front of her, Yoting and his mom tells her that Aroon is revenging against her because she killed his girlfriend. They advise her to stay away from him. Which is an empty advice since she has already planned on pushing him away.

But Aroon doesn’t give up. He feels responsible for her and is determined to help get her memory back.

Meanwhile Dekcha and Nut are demoted in the company. If they won’t accept their new position- a security guard and maid- then they can leave on their own accord. The two opt to leave. Dekcha surmises to Aroon that maybe Yoting and Kon Ying are the ones responsible for trying to take control over the company and hurting Khun Amnui. Nut agrees because if they hadn’t planned it all along, how could they accomplish it to this extent? They are practically running the company.

Meanwhile Vivian is discovered alive but she had a miscarriage.

That evening Whitney walks the hall of the hospital thinking about how Aroon held her in his arms earlier. She stumbles momentarily and Aroon comes up behind her to steady her.

“Let me take you where you need to go,” he says.

“I was just going for a walk,” she replies. “Let me go.”

“I have something to show you. Maybe it can help joggle your memory. Don’t you want to get your memory back?” he asks.

They sit down on a bench in the hall and he takes out a box.

He reveals an iPhone. “This is the first phone you broke,” he tells her about the story when they first met. Then he takes out a journal that she has drawn on her first day of work. They were pictures of Satan and a dinosaur. And finally, he shows her the wind chime he made in the beach town. It was enough for her to stop him, “I can’t remember them. I don’t know whether they are true or something you’ve fabricated.”

“But I’m not lying to you,” he says.

She decides to bring up Non to test him, “what about the time I ran over your girlfriend? Tell me about that, since I don’t remember.”

Aroon stares speechlessly at her.

“This must be the truth otherwise you wouldn’t make that face. Are you trying to revenge me like what Yoting says?”

“I’m not angry or want revenge from you anymore,” he says.

“Then why are you bothering with a killer like me? I don’t believe that you’ve fallen in love with someone like me. There is no way,” she admonishes then walks away, careful not to show the tears that are rolling down her face.

Aroon could only sit there, hopelessly.

Ubatheehet Ep 16

lovefia

Posted on December 14, 2012

The second appropriate title for this drama can be called “misunderstandings,” because that is the very backbone of this drama, lots and lots of misunderstandings. Typically, this is a tool used in many lakorns, a method to keep the leading characters from reconciling. But in Ubatheehet, they have it in spades. One factor that at least moves the story along (in this episode) is Aroon discovering Gusuma’s secret, creepy fascination with him.

381981_440267276022315_1922042001_n

This episode opens up with Whitney’s mom deciding to move in temporarily while her father is incapacitated. She and Kongkaew go at it, fighting over the room and you wonder how long Whitney will stand to see them fight. She rushes out of the house, preferring to see to her father at the hospital.

Once there, she finds Aroon sitting by his bedside. She asks him why he was there.

“You weren’t here yet so I thought to watch over him for you. Did you eat anything yet?” he asks. He stands up and goes to the fridge, indicating that he brought her some food. Whitney refuses to eat and dismisses him, but of course he refuses to leave.

“Why are you trying to drive me crazy?” she asks.

“That’s what you did to me when we first met,” he says. Whitney pulls at his arms, trying to usher him to leave.

“I already told your dad that I will sit here and wait on him until he wakes. The way you did for me.”

“I’m his kid so I will do it,” she injects.

“I’m his kid too-“ he says slyly. “His son in law.”

Aroon pulls her onto his lap and tells her to be quiet as not to interrupt her father’s sleep. Whitney pinches him to release her and admonishes that he could stay if he keeps his hands to himself.

After Whitney completes her shift at the hospital, Aroon takes her home. He wants to invite himself into the house for a drink of water but she refuses him.

“Why are you always refusing me?” he asks.

“Why are you bothering with me?” she retorts. “Do you think what you’re trying to do will make everything better? There’s no point.” She finally lets it out, “You might feel badly right now that you’ve hurt me, but in your heart, you will never forget Non and you will never forgive me. You’ll find ways to hurt me later, I won’t live in peace. I can’t take it anymore,” she admits. “I don’t want to be your punching bag.”

With that being said, she walks into the house, only to witness another fight between her mom and Kongkaew. Her mother is so annoying and intrusive, Kongkaew decides to move out temporarily. Whitney apologizes on her mother’s behalf- at least her attitude towards Kongkaew is changing a tad.

The situation between Aroon and Whitney- her refusing to see him, he persisting with angst- goes on for a few more times. Meanwhile Yoting and his mother are trying to take over the company. Even though Whitney goes into work a few times, she allows them to make decisions and help her out. She feels that since her father trusts Yoting with the job, she should too, when she never liked him from the beginning. Whitney then settles with her mom and tells the older woman to live in her own house unless she stops throwing card parties. Eventually she is able to get rid of her.

For a moment, it appears as if Aroon and Whitney will make peace.

He comes to see her at the hospital again and notices her crying. She’s overcome with concern that her father is still unconscious.

“What’s wrong?” he asks her.

“Don’t bother with me.”

“Your dad will get well soon, trust me,” he consoles.

“But it’s been days, if everything is ok, how come he won’t wake up?”

“Do you remember when I was unconscious for many days? You stayed by my side. That time, did you think I will get well?” he asks.

“I don’t remember it,” she denies.

“Let’s do this. I know a way to give you some peace of mind.”

They arrive at the temple and lit a few incenses. He tells her that he went to the temple and prayed when his mother was sick.

“Did she get well?” Whitney asks.

“Of course. She even told me that when she slept for that long period of time, she heard my prayers and that she must return to me. Unfortunately her body is too weak and not many years later, she passed away.”

“Will my father hear my prayers?” Whitney asks.

“I think so. I heard your voice when I was sick.”

“But I didn’t pray,” Whitney says uncomfortably.

“You were always crying and I heard that.”

Gusuma spies on them from the corner and goes a little nuts, she contrives to beat herself up and lies to Aroon that her aunt kicked her out of the house, and she needs a place to stay. Aroon allows her.

Meanwhile Nut receives a new admirer- the same Chinese man who was into Whitney. A swarm of his family enters the car showroom to look at cars and they refuse to get anyone else’s help except for Nut’s. Much to Nut’s dismay however, she knew he was trying to court her and doesn’t mean to buy the cars. She asks Dekcha to pretend to be her boyfriend so she can keep the Chinese man away.

Instead, Dekcha pretends to be her husband and Nut is forced to play along. Even his entire family played along lol. Once they succeeded, Nut is alone with his mom and the older woman tells her to be daughter in law already, so they don’t have to create scenes to make it look like it was true. Lol. Unfortunately, Dekcha only tells her that they are brothers and sisters, and he would always help her.

Yoting decides he needs to take drastic measures, such as ending Khun Amnui’s life once and for all- because when he approaches Whitney about marriage, she tells him that she doesn’t want to think about it until her father wakes. To make matters worst for him, he sees Aroon around Whitney’s premises again. He tells Aroon to stay away from her and that he would gladly take his sloppy seconds. This insult pisses Aroon off and they get into a fight. Whitney backs up Aroon and tells Yoting to leave- Yoting asks why Aroon could stay and Whitney answers in a satisfactory manner, “Because I want him to stay!” Lol. Yoting relents and as he gets into his car, he calls his mom to put the plan into action.

Whitney tends to Aroon’s cut on his lip.

“Does it still hurt?” she asks.

“It stopped since I saw your face,” he replies.

“You’re always looking for trouble.”

“I knew you were staying alone so I was worried,” he says.

“Worried about what? I still have the maids. And besides, I’m used to being alone.”

“Well, I admit then, that I miss you,” he says. “I wanted to see your face.”

“And why did you quarrel with Yoting?”

“Forget about it. Just don’t meddle with that thug,” Aroon replies.

He lays his head on her lap and proceeds to close his eyes, telling her that she must have given him some medication that made him sleepy.

They have a friendly bicker and a sweet moment.

“You can go home and rest then,” says Whitney.

“I can’t stay here with you?” he implores.

“Don’t borrow trouble. Go home,” she says with a smile.

“I’m asleep,” he lies.

“Fine if you don’t want to leave. I’ll find something for you to eat then.”

“I can find food anytime,” he says, “but I can’t find the time with you. I want to stay here with you, like this for a while.”

He takes her hand.

“Don’t, I’m embarrassed,” she says.

“Then we can go somewhere else, upstairs?”

“Crazy.”

He kisses her hands. To distract him, she pretends to call for her dad and Aroon gets up quickly.

“You tricked me?”

She nods her head with a smile.

“Are you going to go back to Khun Wirot’s house?” Whitney asks him over a small meal in the living room.

“Only if you go with me,” he says.

“With my dad in this condition, I won’t go anywhere. It’s time I step up and help out until he’s well, so he doesn’t have to be so tired anymore.”

“You’re not the same Whitney I know anymore,” Aroon comments.

“The old Whitney is gone with the sin she has committed. However, the new Whitney is still paying for its price.”

“Stop blaming yourself,” Aroon tells her.

“If not for this reason, I don’t know what other rationale to explain why my father is so hurt right now,” Whitney confesses.

“You need to be strong and look ahead.”

Whitney admits, “I don’t know if I can be strong enough..”

He places his arm around her shoulder. “I am here to encourage you, I will take care of you myself,” he says.

He leans down and kisses her forehead. “I promise.”

Later that night she walks him to the front door. He tells her that he wants to be her chauffeur or even bodyguard, and they make a pact for him to pick her up the following morning. Before he leaves, he tells her to call him any time if she needs anything.

Little did Aroon know that this comment and what happens after, will cause another big misunderstanding to the point of hopelessness between them.

Yoting hires Whitney’s mom’s boyfriend to kill Khun Amnui by suffocating the man. However, Kongkaew walks in on time and fends him off. Word reaches Whitney and she panics. Immediately she picks up the phone and dials Aroon’s number. Gusuma picks up and tells Whitney that she has moved in with Aroon. She fabricates that they’ve been sleeping together since Whitney left the beach town. Gusuma even texts an image of Aroon’s sleeping face to Whitney. This was the last straw for Whitney.

The next morning Aroon goes to pick Whitney up from her house but learns that she left with Yoting. Confused and angry, he returns to see Whitney at her work. Previously, Yoting told Whitney that the potential killer is someone who has returned to revenge against her father. Aroon walks into her office and asks her why she didn’t wait for him.

“Why should I wait for you? You don’t work here anymore.”

“We made an agreement,” Aroon reminds her.

“I no longer need it.”

“What’s the matter?” Aroon asks.

“I should rely on Yoting to take me to work instead. He’s the one who has been helping my father with his work,” she says. “Are you really not aware about last night?”

He shakes his head.

“I tried to call you. Last night someone tried to kill my dad. Su picked up your phone.”

The implication settles in between them and he tries to explain, but Whitney refuses to listen. She tells him to leave but when he refuses, and when Yoting walks into her office, she links her hand through Yoting’s, proclaiming that they are engaged.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Aroon asks.

“We are getting married soon,” she says. She tells him to leave again.

“Not until you give me a chance to explain.”

She calls the security guards to remove him.

Dekcha and Nut comes to Aroon’s rescue and Yoting tries to fire them, but Nut has a video clip of the fight and threatens to send it to the cops and see if they can determine who started the fight. Yoting relents and lets them go.

The two tells Aroon not to let Whitney marry the duchebag because he’s secretly having an affair with one of the workers.

Aroon returns to his condo and asks Gusuma about the phone call last night. She plays innocent and Aroon decides to stay with the Abbott for the time being.

As he meanders around the temple, he recalls all of the sweet times he had with Whitney, and her last comment that she’s marrying Yoting. He feels responsible for the misunderstanding, because he knows that she’s only marrying Yoting to spite him. Whitney is also thinking about Aroon through tears.

It only gets worse.

Aroon encounters Gusuma’s aunt and his revelation about Gusuma finally arrives. The aunt tells him that Gusuma ran away from home and tells him that he should know her whereabouts since he’s her boyfriend. This floors him. He goes to his condo but Gusuma is nowhere to be found. Sitting in her luggage is a box that condemns everything. He looks through them and sees pictures of Non’s face scratched out. Pictures of him and Non, with Gusuma’s face taped on top of Non’s. Just creepy, psycho stuff. In the bottom of the box, he spots a dvd. This was the final straw. It was a dvd of Non talking to Yoting about their night together.

Gusuma walks in and finds him watching the video.

“Why did you record it?” he wants to know. “You’re her friend! Why can’t you walk up to her and talk to her?”

She shakes her head in denial when he calls her a backstabber.

“You should be mad at Non!” she yells.

He shows her all of the pictures and there was no way to deny it. She tells him that she met him first and Non took him away from her. It was unfair, she has always been in love with him. Even if Non is still around, she will fatefully wait until one day he has a change of heart.

Aroon is speechless with her obsession.

He finally finds his words, “I can’t feel that way about you.”

“Non wasn’t true to you! She doesn’t deserve you!”

Aroon looks at her differently now. “I can’t stay here anymore. You should go home. Your aunt told me everything. How do you dare do this? Contriving to hurt yourself so you can trick me. You lied to your aunt who raised you.”

He walks out angrily and makes his way to the company, preparing to pummel Yoting’s face in. Rage takes over him and he beats the crap out of Yoting.

“How much do you know Non?”

“She came to see me because she was angry with you. She offered herself to you but you didn’t receive her.. so I received it instead,” he says with a smile.

That was a mistake. Aroon punches him again, until Whitney walks in and calls him a brute. When he tries to go at Yoting again, she slaps him and tells him to leave or she will call the cops. She won’t listen to Aroon, only to Yoting’s lies. She misunderstands that Aroon is still angry about the last time and is just a hooligan, expressing his anger. Even though she knows that he’s not that type of a person, she misunderstands anyway.

Ubatheehet Ep 15

lovefia

Posted on December 13, 2012

Role reversal today; Whitney is giving Aroon a taste of his own medicine. What I find unconvincing though, is how quickly Aroon is revealing to the world how much he cannot live without Whitney. Does deflowering a woman change everything? Perhaps learning that she was an innocent helps him clean up the misconceptions he has about her? What if she wasn’t? It makes me wonder if he will be as “devastated” as he appears to be. But Aroon is moving along the lines of forgiveness and fortunately, Nut is also.

68892_475932169124867_151947354_n

The most interesting development in this episode is the relationship between Nut and Dekcha. These two are so much more fun to watch. Keep in mind that they grew up together, has been neighbors since grade school. They bicker and banter, but at the end of the day, they are meant to be together. Nut has a crush on Dekcha for a long time, but he only sees her as his younger sister. When he feels overprotective or concern, he attributes that to his brotherly love. Yet, the platonic relationship slowly changes one evening.

Nut is angry and hurt that Dekcha canceled their time together for Whitney, who is currently residing in his room. Jealousy is making her push his buttons. He doesn’t explain to her that Whitney only considers him as a friend and that he has stopped hoping that more could come of it. He just lets Nut think that there’s still a chance. She retaliates by going out with a coworker who is a playboy, to put Dekcha a little over the edge. She returns home that evening to find him waiting for her at her gate.

Dekcha reminds her that she should be happy for him.

“Why should I be happy for you?” she asks. “We’re just neighbors. We’re not even related.”

This makes him angry. He tells her not to go out with the playboy.

“You have no right!” she explodes.

Dekcha does what a “brother” should not do. He kisses her. “No do I have a right?” Heeh.

305993_469264513124966_1809129812_n

Whitney witnesses their exchange and feels badly for being the cause of it. But her stay with Dekcha is brief. Her mom’s boyfriend tells Yoting where she is staying and Yoting reports to the cops that Dekcha is withholding Whitney.

After it’s all said and done, Whitney finds herself back at her parents’ home, with her father promising to do better. He says that he has been paying for his actions, he loses sleep every night. She finally relents and says, “thank you for making me feel like I mean something to someone.”

“You always mean something to me,” her dad replies and envelops her in his arms. They cry tears of joy.

At the beach town, Aroon is depressed and gets drunk every night. He tells Jan that Whitney is his life, without her, he could not live. This sort of came out of left field for me. A little too over the top for a man who has been cold to her for so long. I understand that they are using the “deflowering” method to change the way Aroon thinks about Whitney and invariably, his actions towards her. However, with the time they take to drag and cause misunderstanding, they could use some of it to show us a convincing revelation.

Even at this time, Aroon has no idea what transpired that night or what caused Whitney to leave him. But soon, he learns that she is back at home and he immediately rushes back to see her.

Khun Amnui does some damage control by inviting the reporters to interview Whitney on her return back to work. He lies that his daughter has been traveling and has just returned. The reporters questioned about the news clip regarding her run away with Aroon. Yoting steps in and denies it because how could she run away from her fiancé? Whitney could only stand there and look on like a deer caught in the headlights.

Aroon confronts Whitney at the steps of her house.

“Why did you leave without saying goodbye?” he asks. “What happened?”

“You really don’t know then?” she asks, skeptical.

“It was the night I was drunk, right? What did I do?”

She mentally places a barrier in front of him. “You only made me realize that there’s no point for me to stay there further.”

“What do you mean?”

“You should just leave,” she tells him.

“No. Not until you tell me what I did wrong,” he admonishes.

“I have nothing to give to you!” she yells at him. Ha, fancy that. That’s the exact words he used with her. “You are the one who told me that I have nothing left. Not even my body!”

“I said that?” he asks, not remembering it.

“Yes you did! And you acted very satisfied for hurting me. So you can leave now!”

She turns around and finds her dad standing there weakly.

“Did you really stay with him?” he asks his daughter.

Aroon replies for her, “Yes. She stayed with me. She’s my wife.”

Whitney glares at him.

Khun Amnui’s heart gives under and he blacks out. His wife and daughter cry in fright as they quickly usher him into the car and transport him to the hospital.

526711_470899672961450_1378098767_n

Aroon visits her at the hospital and when he notices her tears, he tries to wipe it away with his handkerchief. She slaps his hand away.

“Are you satisfied that you made my father like this?”

“I didn’t mean to.”

“What do you want from me?” she glares at him. “Did you not torture me enough, and now you want to torture my family too?” She looks away. “Just leave, I don’t want to see you again.”

“We need to talk,” he pleads.

“It’s over. We’re over. There’s nothing left between us,” she says with finality.

“Why?”

“Because no matter what I do for you, in the depth of your heart, you’ve never forgiven me. I give up. I’ve already lost everything. Let’s just separate.”

Her words scare him. He doesn’t know what to do. When she calls on one of the guards to help her keep him away, Aroon could only leave.

Khun Amnui learns that it is the truth. He decides drastic measures are needed. He calls Kon Ying to announce that they need to speed up the wedding plans.

Aroon seeks Dekcha’s wisdom that afternoon. He tells Dekcha that he has fully forgiven Whitney and that she is the one who hasn’t forgiven him.

“You need to do something to make her realize that the wound is healed.”

“It will never heal,” Aroon says. “But I’m trying to move on.”

“Then you need to prove to her that you can do it.”

“How?”

And for once, Dekcha removes himself from their problem. “I don’t know. It’s your problem. You should know best what she needs.”

Later, Dekcha reports this turning in events to Nut.

“Then if they get back together, wouldn’t you be heartbroken?” she asks him.

“I’m not hoping for anything with Whitney, she only likes me as a friend. I’ve learned to accept the truth a long time ago,” he admits, then continues, “I won’t look at the airplane anymore. I’m going to look at the cars nearby.”

“Who?” Nut quietly asks, hoping that it was her.

“No one in general,” Dekcha lies, “No cars around yet.”

As he walks away, she mutters that she thought the “car” was her. Cute.

Khun Amnui is back at work and perusing through his accounting books. He is pissed. Ever since Yoting came on board, the numbers are suspicious. He orders Yoting to his room and throws the books on the table.

“How dare you,” he accuses. “You’re cheating my company. If I didn’t look at these books, I would be an idiot for a long time to come.”

Yoting is scared and denies it.

“Your lover has already admitted to it. And I don’t know what you did with all that money, but I’m going to give you until tomorrow to return it, or I will have the cops take care of you.”

Khun Amnui calls his wife to stop further wedding plans, but he doesn’t fully tell her the reasons because Khun Ying was standing next her.

Later that night, Yoting tells him mom. He’s terrified that they will go to jail, his mom tells him to do something.

Yoting hires Whitney’s mom’s boyfriend to help him hurt Khun Amnui. They ambush the older man when his car broke down on the side of the road. But Khun Amnui was able to throw in a few punches and pull the mask from Yoting’s face. Unfortunately, as he tries to run away, a white car (driven by Yoting’s mom who doesn’t trust that he would get the job done) tries to run him over. Before they could make sure he’s dead, a cab’s headlights forces them to run away.

Dekcha and Nut were going to a concert when they had to return before it ends because Nut forgot her purse. They found Khun Amnui bleeding on the side of the road and immediately rush him to the hospital.

Whitney is devastated by the news. She tells Dekcha and Nut that it must have been the sin that she created (her killing Non.)

Sometime later when she is about to leave, Aroon came to see her at the hospital. She has been by her father’s side for a while and her step mom came to relieve her.

“Did you get any sleep? I’m worried about you,” he says.

She keeps fending him off, heading out of the hospital doors.

“Did you bring your car?”

Her mom had just taken her car for a drive about town.

“I can find a way home.”

“I’ll take you,” he persists.

“No need,” she replies. She stumbles over a step and he catches her before she falls.

He takes control and tells her she needs to go with him otherwise he would just carry her away.

She finally relents and they arrive at her house. He refuses to leave until he sees her eating.

As he walks her to her room, he tells her the one thing that reaches her resolve, and it shows that he cares.

“I want you to get enough rest. You’ll be taking over for your father while he’s recovering, and there’ll be lots of things that will require your brain power and energy. Get lots of rest please,” he says, and takes off, leaving her to stare after him in befuddlement.

483065_464218753629542_525569812_n

Nut rings the old school tin telephone to rouse Dekcha. They chat about their suspicion that Yoting has a lover. She feels it is necessary to tell Whitney. Dekcha wonders why the change of heart?

She tells him that when she sees Whitney crying, she felt badly for her. She knows what Whitney is going through, she’s been there before. And since so many bad things are happening to Whitney, Nut doesn’t want this to add additional pain.

“I am so proud of you,” Dekcha says, regarding her progress. “This really means that you’ve forgiven her.”

“That must be it,” Nut agrees quietly. “I’m taking the Abbott’s advice. You can’t find peace if you are always angry.”

Dekcha says the sweetest thing “Nut korng pee” which means “My Nut.” Aww.

They decide to help Whitney overcome this together.

By the end of the episode, Gusuma re-enters the scene, storming into Aroon’s condo. She is angry that he would leave her alone at the beach town. When Aroon tries his best to steer her away, she glares at the screen and promises that he will never get rid of her. Golly this woman is so annoying.

2012 Lakorn Year in Review

lovefia

Posted on December 12, 2012

2012 brought forth an eclectic selection of lakorns, thereby creating only a limited number of lakorns that may suit our particular tastes. We have spiritual, sixth sense genre, romantic comedy, action and over the top melodrama. So if you are a romcom or action enthusiasts, than you may find only a few that makes it to your good and enjoyable lists.

Good & Excellent

The lakorns listed under good are surprising hits to me. I didn’t expect to enjoy them so much, because not only do they challenge the typical plots, they excelled in giving us a full story.

goodandexcellent

janieporHong Sabat Lai is an action/melo drama about Nay who witnessed her parents massacre and was separated from her brother for ten years. She returns to Thailand to seek justice for her parents death and reunite with Wee. This love triangle series tests the theory of proximity and love, as well as doing the right thing. It was a sad yet thrilling ride to watch Nay and Rabin realize their love for one another. Although it was good, it didn’t set off my severe fangirling for the pair. I actually admired the chemistry between Janie and Art Pasut more even though they were not meant to be.

wallpaper_1334117266_1

Mam Gam Dang challenges the cliched plot of two leading characters pretending to be married. Instead, we have a forbidden love between a brother and his sister in law. Ana pretends to be her best friend’s pregnant wife to prevent him from an arrange marriage. Little did she know that she will fall for his older brother instead. The overall delivery is good, but the script and pacing required a lot of work, the ending fell completely flat for me. I hate to see such a promising story and characters end in such a mess.

Mook_Liam_Petch02

Mook Liam Petch is another action drama but made completely funny because of the leading lady, Mookda. The drama surrounds a missing adorella and the mystery behind the true thief. Mookda pretends to love Petch (adorella owner) so she can get closer to him and investigate the missing jewelry. The theme is that things don’t always appear as they seem. Mookda isn’t the ditzy socialite that she wants everyone to think. Petch’s besties aren’t merely friends with him because they love him. Overall, it was a fun watch, but the story focused too much on the failures of Petch and not too much on the romance aspect. As you know, I watch lakorns for the fluff.

A12630393-0

The Sixth Sense is written by the same writers as 4 Hearts of the Mountain, so it’s only natural that they feature the love stories of multiple couples. Five girls are born with sixth sense, given to by the powers of the Abbott. These girls are destined to help the dead and in doing so, will help them meet their soul mates. It is fast paced, funny and entertaining.

img_6123

Raak Boon on the other hand, examines the sixth sense ability in a different light. What if you can achieve or receive anything in exchange for your servitude? A box of holy source is your master and can wreak havoc or grant you your deepest desires. Jae finds herself indebted to this box, which turns on her because she refuses to do its bidding. What I like about this drama is the morbid feel, cinematography, as well as the values that exist in the core of our leading lady. Her refusal to change, and stubbornness to conform to anyone’s unreasonable standards, be it via the main guy or anyone else for that matter, is refreshing. The pacing is fast and with 11 episodes, it just doesn’t have time to drag. Although the leading man can be persuaded, he’s sharp and is the character that receives the most development.

559239_464272780269608_1960881057_n

Rak Kerd Nai Talad Sode is an easy going, fun run through the fresh food market on behalf of Thong. It is enjoyable in its own unique way, mainly due to Mario Maurer, whose character falls in love with Kimlang and must overcome her mother’s disapproval, as well as saving the market from competitor’s wrath. Thong’s infectious presence transforms those around him.

The top three lakorns of the year not only accomplishes those things that the “good” lakorns do so well, but they also ignite my fangirling and makes me so happy and smile so much while watching them. Mr. Prap & Napdao, Khun Tum&Cha-aim, and lastly, Athit and Darunee will forever hold a special place in my heart.

numbanrai

I actually watched the three lakorns in reverse. Num Banrai Gup Wanjai Hiso aired first, but the beginning took a little too long to get me invested so I moved on to other dramas. Fortunately I circled back and I’m so glad I did, because I have fallen irrevocably in love with the storyline, script and especially, the cast and crew. This romcom centers around Napdao Wowzap, a bright, cunning and gorgeous socialite. She is destitute but is adamant to continue her frivolous life. The only way to save her way of life is to marry into fortune. She sets her cap on a rich businessman but his mother demands her investment in their company’s stocks in order to prove that Napdao is as wealthy as she claims. Napdao then recently comes into a new fortune: a farm land that her father left for her. But there is a caveat, the co-owner is Mr. Prab a vet and rancher, and she must convince him to sell the piece of land so she can use it to purchase the stocks and thereby saving her way of life. Mr. Prab and Napdao bargains that if she could work successfully on the farm for three months, he would agree to sell the land- although he has no intentions to keep her around for three months. Through this experience, Napdao is brought to realize her true self- that the hi so is only a facade and that deep down- she’s a farm girl at heart. Num Banrai does a good job developing her arc, interwoven the cast and characters to the overall storyline, and provokes the question of, can money buy happiness?

Most importantly, the banter and battle of wills between the cast is an utmost joy to witness. Sweet Amy and Napdao, as well as the interactions between Napdao and Mr. Prab. Speaking of the devil, who doesn’t want a Mr. Prab in your life? Although the ladies in his life seem to think that he is not privy to the female wiles and manipulations, he’s not blind to them and every now and then, ends up surprising them with his intelligence. Moreso than that, he is kind, generous and oh so sweet. Peter does a great job playing this quirky, sweet character. And his chemistry with Chompoo is palpable. Can you tell how in love I am with this drama?

Screen Shot 2012-11-06 at 3.43.47 PM

Kitchen Scholar and This Land is Our Land are both remakes that are done really well. Kitchen Scholar is a story about Amika impersonating a maid to research materials for her scriptwriting contest. She meets her biggest obstacle, Khun Tum, who is bright and suspicious. He is determined to oppose her at every turn. Their distrust in each other inevitably brings them to a head in the end, when things could have worked out, but both are too reticent to give in. Until they come to terms with each other’s weakness, then they are able to have their happy ending. It’s a funny, romantic, easygoing drama that suits the romcom fans perfectly. Not to mention, it is produced by our Miss Ann T, and discovering that she can produce as well as act, just makes me respect her even more.

304888_458010320898879_2040361877_n

Where Kitchen Scholar aims to please, This Land is Our Land aims to give us a message. Love the land you’re in and it will only love you back. What does all that gibberish mean anyway? This Land covers all aspect of growing up and its unfortunate side effects. Athit dreams of being a farmer, so when he learns that his grandmother is willing to pay for his siblings college expenses in exchange for his muscles at the farm, he agrees wholeheartedly. There he meets his opposer, Darunee who feels threatened by his presence because one, she suspects he’s going to swindle grandma’s fortune and two, he’s grandma’s true kin. So, Darunee does her best to make his life a living hell. She succeeds and causes the largest debacle in his life, and the second half of the drama takes us on a journey to rectify it. The two fall in love through their shared love for the land, and we watch them overcome obstacles of adolescent into adulthood, and invariably, their own hearts.

Love these three dramas to pieces!

Did Not Finish

Unfortunately, 2012 also procured some not so exciting ones. I placed Ubatheehet on the hair pulling list because if I had things my way, I would probably have dropped it by episode 4. The only lakorn under “Did Not Finish” list that I would consider going back to watch pra’nang scenes is Qi Pao, just because I am Ann T’s fan.

hairpullingdidnotfinish

Ubatheehet is hair pulling worthy because aside from the chemistry between the leading characters, the storyline, pacing and overall plot leaves very little to be desired. I’m tired of seeing the leading lady victimized by everyone, we have a rather pathetic and stupid leading man (come on writers, as viewers we actually want to like our main guy, not despise), and just a boatload of unnecessary cardboard box villains. I would not recommend this drama, unless you’re a true Aump-Om fan and only want to see their scenes together. It’s just not worth it. Which brings me to the next deal, I will NOT be recapping anymore channel 7 dramas, they just seem to find away to ruin it for me.

In regards to the “did not finish” list, for whatever reason, it did not compel me to continue. For example, Qi Pao, I was so excited about this drama, mainly due to Ann T. But the storyline and characters fell flat for me, and I cease to wonder who the true murderer is.

Passed and what’s on the radar for the remainder of the year

Maybe there were other lakorns that you have thoroughly enjoyed and that I have passed on. Certainly feel free to share your two cents and year end review with everyone.

I am however, excited to tune into Khun Samee and Neur Mek 2 for the remaining of 2012.

passedradar

All in all, it was a mixed bag this year, at least we came out with three great dramas (that’s because I’m just so picky!) I’m still hopeful and looking forward to more wonderful dramas to come. What will 2013 bring us?

*My plan for the rest of the year (which is really two and a half more weeks!) is to finish my recapping project, Ubatheehet – and put this bipolar drama behind us! (There will be no review, as I’ve already shared my two cents here.) Then, I will be offering first impressions on Khun Samee and Neur Mek 2. And of course, in the midst of all of this, buy Christmas presents, run around like a chicken with its head cut off, then deal with being a landlord and moving! Whew. If you’re not watching dramas, what’s your plans for the rest of the year? What’s going on in your life?

Evil Lesson Turn Willing? -Ep 14 Ubatheehet

lovefia

Posted on December 12, 2012

The toughest lesson Whitney learned today is that moving on isn’t easy. Forgiveness is possible, but forgetting deems almost impossible. Especially when things were starting to be wonderful, and she was hopeful that things may be alright between her and Aroon, yet only to find scar tissues forming beneath the wound.

542956_437106106338432_738551558_n

Whitney and Aroon made merits together at the temple. He peers at the laughing children in the courtyard, reminiscent of his youth. Whitney wishes out loud that if her parents had brought her to the temple when she was little, she wouldn’t have been so lonely. Aroon laughs at her simple wish because girls cannot live in a temple. Whitney begs to differ because she thinks girls can live with the nuns. Aroon explains that it would require the girls to convert. But Whitney recalls studying at an all girls school once and the nuns were not impressed with her. They felt that she was clumsy and rebellious. Aroon says that it doesn’t surprise him.

As they try to drive back to the big house, they meet torrential downpour and Aroon’s car breaks down. They decide to seek shelter in a secluded hut for the time being, until the rain lets up. The recent bad events and weather made Whitney speak out her hunch.

“Do you think Non’s spirit is still mad at me?” She asks, which in hind sight is probably a mistake, digging up the past. Rehashing old wounds.

Aroon frowns. “For what?”

“Everything,” says Whitney. “From the moment she was alive until now. She’ll see that I’m always around you. Sometimes I wonder if those obstacles I meet are an indication that I haven’t been punished enough.”

“Nonsense,” Aroon admonishes. He moves towards the windows, but the next thing she said ruffles his feathers.

“She’s still mad at me that I brought up Yoting’s name.”

Aroon spins around in agitation and suspicions. “What does Yoting have to do with this?”

Whitney doesn’t answer. Aroon repeats his question in a higher octave.

“That day when I spoke with Non, I told her that I saw her having a meal with Yoting. She was very displeased to hear it.”

Aroon denies it, “that’s not true.”

“Someone sent a picture of Yoting and Non to your email. I saw it first so I erased it. I was afraid you would quarrel.”

“You’re lying,” Aroon says in anger, “that’s not true. Why are you bringing this up?” He comes to her corner and grabs her by her arm. “What do you want?”

She’s hurting from his grip and tells him so. He’s still very sensitive with subjects regarding Non. “Never mind. Just forget it. Consider me overreacting,” she says.

“What is it that you’re over thinking?” He’s more persistent and urgent with his questions.

“I told you to forget about it.”

“What are you joking about now? All of a sudden you bring up Non and Yoting. What’s your angle? Are you trying to say that Yoting and Non were deceiving me?” He laughs with a shake of his head. “Impossible. They don’t even know each other!”

“Are you sure they don’t know each other?” Whitney asks. Why is she goading him? Is she trying to enlighten him or make him furious? “Gusuma was sure they were intimate.”

“Impossible!” he repeats.

“Like I said, just go on thinking the way you do.”

“So you know what’s going through my mind?” This infuriates him, “you’re trying to justify her death!”

“I’m not!” she defends.

“You are!” He accuses.

She was tired of it all too. “Fine,” she explodes. “I am then! I think she should die because I fell in love with you and I have no idea how to break you and Non up so I decided to run her over with my car!” She glares at him, “isn’t that what you want to hear?”

“You are turning me into a madman,” he warns.

“I’m just saying what you actually think. Everyone makes mistakes but not you. You are always right.”

“And what about you?” he persists. “Are you that much more special than me?”

“No,” she retorts. “At least I can accept my true colors. Unlike some people who prefer to close their eyes!”

He’s real pissed now, gripping her arms tightly. “That’s right! If I close my eyes even for a bit- just a bit more- do you know that I can cease being a straight lace guy, stop being a gentlemen? I’m going to teach you a lesson. A lesson you will remember until your last breath.”

Whitney is afraid of the look in his eyes. “If this is what you think. It’s not called a mere lesson. It is an evil score.”

“Then you deserve it.” Aroon pulls her face in for a forced kiss.

She slaps him across the face and turns her back to him.

His breathing is ragged due to the exertion of their argument. The reality of what he was about to do sinks in.

534615_437997499582626_453189159_n

“Whitney.. I’m-” he turns her around to face him. He touches her face tenderly and looks into her misty eyes, resting his forehead against hers. He leans down and kisses her. Slowly, he lays her body on the bed, and lowers himself on top of her.

And then he claims her.

Aroon used to be old fashioned, preferring to wait until they are married. Rejecting his ex girlfriend who threw herself at him. But with Whitney, there is just too much emotion involved, both love and hate. Waiting is not an option when the timing is right, with the right person.

Aroon finds himself alone in bed the morning after. He panics, thinking she must have left him. But Whitney is merely sitting outside, contemplating.

He takes a seat beside her, putting his arms around her. “Last night,” he starts. But Whitney cuts him off. “Forget about it. We don’t need to speak of it.”

“I must, otherwise you won’t understand.”

“I do,” she says. “I’m not angry with you. If I’m mad, I should be mad at myself for letting it happen so easily.”

He holds her. “But I’m happy it did happen, because at least it makes me know that-”

She abruptly stands up, not able to handle his “virgin” talk. “We should head back.” And she leaves him sitting alone.

Aroon is getting possessive by the second and paranoid that she would leave him. They made it to the mechanic shop, and Whitney takes a gander at the street.

“Where are you going?” he asks.

“I’m not your prisoner,” she replies.

He still think she’s trying to run away. “Come back with me- or do you want me to carry you?”

“I am searching for a public phone so we can call Chai and Pen about our whereabouts so they don’t have to worry.”

He breathes a sigh of relief and joins her. At the phone booth, he stands right next to her.

“You don’t have to get this close,” she says. “I’m not going to run away.”

“I’m not afraid you’ll leave,” he says, “I just want to be close to you.”

He takes the phone from her and tells Chai and Pen that he has been going out with Whitney (on their “honeymoon.”)

Chai and Pen are ecstatic but Jan nearly bursts an artery.

Jan finds Aroon’s cellphone in the living room and notices a text message from Gusuma. And things start to spiral downwards again.

Meanwhile that evening, Aroon follows Whitney to her bedroom. He jumps into bed with her and decides to make himself comfortable.

“Husband and wives should sleep in the same room,” he says.

“Don’t say that,” Whitney doesn’t relent.

“It’s true.”

Whitney decides to sleep in another room, but Aroon follows her again.

“That evil lesson- wasn’t that enough for you?” Whitney asks.

He pleads with her, “Can you forget about that? I spoke badly to you, I didn’t mean it. You can slap me however many times you want.”

She turns her back to him but he urges her around.

“Whitney, I may have done bad things to you before. But I’m sorry for them. I won’t let it happen again. I won’t hurt your feelings again,” he cajoles.

“Because I have nothing left for you to hurt,” she says.

“That’s not true. It’s because I don’t want to hurt myself actually.”

They look at each other poignantly.

“You don’t know that every time I see you cry,” he says, “it hurts me more than it hurts you.” Aroon pulls her into his arms.”I used to have naive thoughts that the hurt would disappear. But it returns with a vengeance. Until I was warned that I might lose you altogether. It made me realize that I’ve been wrong.”

She looks into his eyes, “You don’t hate me anymore?”

“I never hated you,” he replies. “I used stupid means to try to change you. But my heart is stubborn. You win.” He peers at her, “what about you? Do you hate me?”

She shakes her head.

He leans down for a kiss to seal the deal, and they embrace each other.

Whitney rises early the next morning and takes a walk on the beach. Aroon follows her there some time later and she scolds him for missing the sunrise. He covers her shoulders with a wrap and leans in for a kiss.

“It’s ok, I can see the sunrise tomorrow. Lately, I have enough encouragement.” Aww.

But their sweet time only gets interspersed with some bad ones. Jan announces that there is someone here to see Aroon. And what do you know, Gusuma comes running into the beach with a luggage. She latches onto his arm and lies that Dekcha is the one to tell her his whereabouts.

This woman is delusional and going down the deep end. She dresses up as Non one morning and even calls herself “Non.” She immediately acts like she owns the house and decorates the entire living space with Non’s pictures. This makes everyone uncomfortable. At first, it appears as if Aroon is concerned about how this is making Whitney feels, but he doesn’t utter a word to make Gusuma stop.

That night she confronts Whitney at the beach.

“Did you see Aroon’s face when I brought Non’s name up? He’s sad. This means that he’s still thinking about her,” Gusuma persists.

“You know that and you still want to hurt him?” Whitney asks, flabbergasted.

“I want him to feel ashamed.” She directs her hatred at Whitney, “What about you, don’t you feel ashamed?”

When her bullying doesn’t work, she seeks extreme measures by hiring thugs to hurt Whitney. Luckily Aroon returns home in time to save her.

Whitney decides to spend the night at Chai and Pen’s house so Aroon is left alone with Gusuma that night. He wakes up the next morning with psycho Gusuma asleep next to him! She reasons that she went to the bathroom at night and locked herself out of her room. So she came to sleep with him and didn’t want to wake him. Omg, why aren’t people thinking that she’s a little crazy?

Aroon does tell Gusuma that she needs to head back to Bangkok. Gusuma gets angry and speaks badly about Whitney.

“Don’t talk about her like that,” Aroon warns.

“Why, do you love her then?”

Aroon doesn’t answer and Gusuma takes it as an agreement. “You do love her!”

Aroon walks her to the van pick up area and says goodbye. But after getting rid of Gusuma, things only serve to remind him of Non and make him feel guilty.

The dock workers invites him to a wedding celebration and as he dines with him, he hears that the bride and groom has known each other for seven years. Their story and love deems to much for Aroon to handle so he starts drinking himself into oblivion. Stinking drunk, he returns home (where Whitney has been waiting up for him.)

He honks for Whitney to open the gate and in his drunken stupor, starts to rev the engine. This scares her and knocks her to the ground. He thinks he’s being funny and walks out of the car, “Now you know what it feels like to be hit.” (He didn’t exactly hit her.)

“Did you really mean to hit me?” she asks. Then she realizes how drunk he is and tries to help him.

She carries him to the couch where he says that he is dead inside. Then he points to her chest and tells her that she is just as dead. He laughs, “You have nothing left.” (He’s referencing to her innocence.) He starts kissing her then passes out. Whitney could only hold him and cry.

What a messed up relationship.

As she holds him, she thinks about what Gusuma says to her, what Jan says to her. It is not easy to move on. It is hard to fully heal a wound, especially when scar tissues form. The final words she remembers is that Aroon will never forget what she has done.

This settles her resolve and she makes a final decision to leave the beach town.

Aroon wakes up, hurting from the night before. He stumbles around looking for Whitney. When he discovers she is nowhere to be found, he panics and makes the housekeepers help him search for her. Jan advises him to not care and forget about Whitney, upon which, Aroon glares at her and proclaims in front of everyone that Whitney is his wife.

Guffaw!

Whitney goes to the one place she can count on: Dekcha’s house. This upsets Nut (because Dekcha bailed out on attending a concert with her) and she tells Whitney to learn how to solve her own problems instead of going from one person to another. She warns Dekcha that Whitney is like someone who is troublesome, and will bring trouble to any place she goes. Ah, isn’t that the truth? The words hit Whitney and she tells Dekcha that she will find another place to go.

She seeks out her mother’s home, but much to her chagrin, her mother is having too much fun throwing a card party. Whitney feels dismayed and walks forlornly along the road. This is where her mom’s boyfriend spots her and remembers Yoting’s mom guaranteeing him money if he could make Whitney marry Yoting. The man follows her with an evil grin.

Aroon is devastated that Whitney ran away. But really, could you blame the girl? Aroon’s constant hot and cold can make anyone scratch their heads with confusion. Let’s see how he can woo her back. So much unnecessary drama! *shakes head*
