The show is not over until the fat lady sings.
Airing in mid December, our new weekend primetime, Nuer Mek 2 (Beyond Comparison II) may just make it to my top 2012 lakorn list. From the production team, Metha Lae Mahaniyom- which brought us one of my favorite lakorns in 2011, Tawan Deard, a story about one man’s vendetta- Nuer Mek 2 examines the theme of good versus evil, amidst the political, philosophical and science fiction field. The story centers on Special Agent Sangkla, alongside his quirky employee, Sargeant Saming and they must stop Winyoo, the dark science (black magic) guru from finding the four divine weapons and reaching his full potential power. In the smaller scheme of things, Winyoo is the personal advisor to the Deputy Minister (sort of like Vice President, if you will) named Jak who wants to overtake Meka, the Prime Minister.
Now why have I found a new obsession in this lakorn and where does the romance tie in all of this? It’s because of Mark and Mint, of course.
Mark plays the hot headed, talented Sangkla who is an orphan but sponsored by a good man who encourages him to be a cop. Sangkla earns his way to the special investigative unit under Commanding Officer Rawee who dislikes him and sends him to get psychological analysis at INTS because she deems his personality unsuitable for police work. This is where he meets the ever bright, ever whiz kid, Dr. Praepailin who runs the show at INTS. And this is where upon first encounter, sparks fly. He thinks she is too young and inexperience to be a doctor and most definitely not capable enough to run the facility. He condescends to her by calling her “nong” instead of her title, to make her feel that he is older and more experienced. But Dr. Praepailin did not get to where she is at by being intimidated. She is bright and tough, so their entertaining, speculative banter is quite cute. I also like how they can gauge each other’s weaknesses just by making keen observations.
In addition, I love the hotheaded Sangkla with a side of anger management issues. He is too flipping adorable and the best part is, they have chosen the perfect pr’ek to play him. Mark is Sangkla to a tee. His fearless, badass attitude and teasing banter with Dr. Prae just ups the fangirling for me. All of their encounters thus far are fangirling worthy, I kid you not.

Especially the scene where he “checks up” on her by breaking into her house at night. She thinks the bad guys are after her so she sprays him with pepper spray, only to find the incorrigible special agent at her feet. Sangkla proceeds to make himself at home, continues to annoy her by calling her “nong” and himself “pi,” and tease her effortlessly. I like that both have something in common, their drive to prove themselves in their field as well as their sharpness and attention to detail, which attributes to their overall appeal. Who doesn’t love a smart and hot pr’ek, as well as a brilliant n’ek?
Three episodes in, I find that Nuer Mek 2 is incredibly fast paced, other subplots and interpersonal relationships are also done well. I enjoyed the inclusion of previous leads in Nuer Mek, like Chakrit and Cherry, as well as witnessing the aftermath of Meka and Nappa’s as well as Art Pasut’s relationship. In short, I am surprised by how quickly I have fallen in love with this drama, and especially with Mark and Mint’s characters. With the two together, it certainly makes the heart flutter and the weekend go by faster.
Clearly this is my new obsession. What a great segue into the holiday seasons. Happy lakorn watching, folks!
Also, you are in luck, this lakorn is being subbed by Sunkisseddara:
And there’s so many places to spazz for Mteam:

Looking forward to this show, I never got the chance to see the first one, but Chakrit is such a spazztastic actor I can’t wait to see him let lose. Thanks for the link and info about subs 😉 I like reading your reviews, but subs are icing to me 😉
There is nothing like watching and understanding at the same time 🙂 BTW there is an intro in the first episode that reveals the story of Nuer Mek (the first one) and I was agawk at Chakrit’s good looks lol. I may be propelled to go back and watch the Chakrit bits. As for NM2, he does a brief cameo. Mark and Mint is adorable in this series!

It is a well done lakorn and in such a high standard. It is truly enjoyable!
I love this lakorn too and I am extremely proud of MINT C. She has improved so much. Her acting her totally improved… her character on in this series is so strong, but also extremely fragile. Plus, Mark is just playing himself, a fun energetic guy! I hope this lakorn get more great reviews and also hope MINT C gets chosen for more lakorn, since for the past two years, she has improved so much! Love MTEAM,,, I wasn’t a huge fan on PLR, but now I am just too sad that they ruined this cute couples stories in their first lakorn together, Overall, I love it and can’t wait to see more of this couple & hope the MINT C get more lakorn.
– From a fellow fan who used to think MINT C can’t act, but she definitely shocked me in her lakorns with Pope & Alex but this is my most favourite of them all…
Love the fact that only 3 eps has aired and already Chalida is getting more fans =)
Can someone translate this clip for me pls & thanku
The reporter is just speculating about the relationship between Pupa and Chalida. No confirmation of anything, as of yet 🙂
I actually like this lakorn so far. The only thing I dislike is Nok C being able to control people under his magic. It gets so annoy.555.Anyway, so far, so good for me. Love Mark’s character in here. It is so him. I also like Mint’s character in here but something about her character bugs me. Maybe it’s just her “coldness” character that sometime bugs me. I don’t really know how to explain it. I,too, believe that she have improve a lot on her acting. As for Mark, he also have improved since PCKK. I love it how they both are improving on their acting.
Thanks for your feedback, it is always so interesting to read your perspective, everyone enjoys lakorn/storyline in different ways. For me, I find that Nok C’s power in this drama is the key element of the plot that moves the story forward. Without him and his need to gain ultimate power, Mark’s role as well as Saming’s would be pointless- and Mint and Mark would still meet (because he has to undergo psychiatric analysis from Dr. Prae) but their encounters wouldn’t be as life threatening, which wouldn’t allow them to develop their romance at such a quick pace. Oddly enough, I really like Dr. Prae’s (Mint) personality. She’s so different from Sangkla (as well as other typical leading ladies) that I find her character refreshing. She’s a smart cookie (very logical and mature), doesn’t succumb under her “fiancé’s” demand, neither her mother, nor her ex boyfriend. The only way they make any headway with her, if they use black magic. Her chemistry with Sangkla is electrifying and I simply cannot get enough of them together! But that’s just my additional two cents 🙂
I definitely agree with you in that both Mark and Mint have improved on their acting.
im really enjoying this larkon,im actually suprised that the pranangs has more sweet scenes compared to other action larkons ,im soo excited to see more episodes love mark and mint c hope it receives good feedbacks
And it gets better and better as the story progresses. Total fan service 🙂 Thanks for your feedback!
Dare to say that Mint C’s acting has greatly improved. Also, her voice is much better. I do hope that she will keep improving. Looking forward for more lakorns of her with Mark and other senior actors.
Really like the character of Dr. Prak.
Me too, I used to not enjoy Mint’s acting in the past. Her role in this lakorn allows us to see the other aspects of her acting which will make an impact on her future career. Wish her luck.
Hope and wish that Mint C’s next producer will be Anne
I’m fervently hoping that is the case. Anne simply makes the actors better, in my opinion. She certainly molded Kimerley into a rising star from Kitchen Scholar. Imagine what she can do with Mint, who is already growing into her own!
I totally agree with you, Fia, that Anne is one of the producers who makes the actors better. That’s why i hope that Mint C will work with her very soon. Combining Mint’s skills and those learned from Anne, her acting will much much improve and we can see her often on the screen :).
I am really enjoying this series. Mark & Chalida has always had the chemistry. This lakorn gives them a great opportunity to show that. I love the whole feeling of it. The cinematography is excellent. Almost Hollywood-like. Loving the characters of Sangkla & Dr. Praepilin. Great casts.
Thank you for your insights & perspectives, Fia. ^_^
Finished today’s episode & I must say, although, I found Top & Eye’s characters annoying at first, I can’t help but putty them now. Loving someone that does not love you the same way just sucks.
I agree also that Chalida’s acting & speech has improved. I was adored by her sassiness in “Tawan Duerd” & quite frankly was a bit sad she was cast as Mark’s sister.mher chemistry with Pope was just sooo sweet yet hot. I’m glad P’Nok gave her this role to develop her skills. Yes, Dr. Praepilin is “cold” yet so, so fragile. It is an endearing character. Sangkla is a very endearing character as well. He is sassy to his “nong” even a little tough, but the way he speaks to her is sweet & he is fragile with her.
Mark has even improved since PCKK! I love that! I am really hoping Chalida & Mark will be given many more opportunities to be together onscreen over & over again.
Thanks again, Fia na kaaa. ^_^
I thought episode 9 was oh so sweet. The love confession, the reality check dealt to their unrequited love interest done well. I was annoyed with Namsai and Komsorn too, but at the end of the day, they did it out of love and fear of losing their loved one. When both Dr. Prae and Sangkla let them down with honesty, they accepted it. I felt for Namsai when she cried though, because can you imagine loving someone all of your life but to realize that he only loves you as a sister? So sad indeed. I appreciated that Sangkla was honest with her and made it very clear- then he created a very cute love confession scene for Dr. Prae. “Namsai is my sister.. but you, you are my life.” Aww.
I love Dr. Prae. She’s strong and tough, but needs the most love. Through Sangkla, she is able to be loved- unconditionally.
Maybe I’m biased, but I always thought Mark is a good actor 🙂 Even in Pathapee! The only qualm I have about Sangkla character, is although he’s quite the ideal guy, he’s not as sharp as the girls lol. (Unlike his character as Pathapee.) Only through the ingenuity of Nappa and Dr. Prae’s brilliance, the plot moves along. I feel like he’s a deer caught in the headlights most of the time lol. Despite that, I just love watching him. Whether he’s a hot head or being sentimental to Dr. Prae, he’s so easy on the eyes! The half tucked in shirt, the leather jacket and the swagger, Mark has it all!
Ok, I’ll stop my fangirling. As always, thanks for your feedback, Dal!
Totally depressed about the cancellation =(
I watched this drama but could not finished the whole drama because it got banned.
