Build Your Own Castle – ‘In a Good Way’

lovefia

Posted on May 25, 2014

Well hello there. Let’s go back in time to 1995, year of the Pig. And allow me to wallow in a moment of bliss – Liu Chuan! This Pr’ek, In a Good Way, is the Prince Charming, consorting among the common students of Cheng Dong University campus in Taipei, and being the carefree idol that he is. Top of the class, star basketball player, and coolest guy to crush on? Impossible. But alas it is and believably so since this is 1995, and Prince Charming, at least in dramaland, became something of a rarity and darn near extinction much after this golden year. But who is this Liu Chuan, you may ask? Why, he is the guy that Jia En, our Nang’ek, meets in…

Lakorn Chatter – What’s up 2014?

lovefia

Posted on May 22, 2014

Since today marks the first day of lovefia.com (but many days – in fact years – for lovefia.wordpress.com), and since June is also creeping up on us, I think it is apt to take stock of the lakorn that has aired thus far, as well as upcoming anticipated lakorns for the remainder of 2014. When I was much younger, and when lakorns used to be on VHS and you’d have to go to the video store to rent them, I watched everything – from Channel 7 to Channel 3 and even Channel 5- no exceptions. Lakorns will not be ignored. As time goes by and my days, hours, and minutes are taken up by work and life, I have to be a little more…

Rak Ork Rit – Jinxed Love

lovefia

Posted on May 19, 2014

Are you in the mood for something different? Then the latest weekend installment, Rak Ork Rit (Jinxed Love) might be a good lakorn for you. Premiered this past Saturday, Rak Ork Rit presents the debate about one’s belief in luck. Do you believe that life is what you make of it, or do you believe that your fate is predetermined? Is life mostly about cause and effect or are we fated to ride this Destiny train?

The End of Spinsters and Casanovas?

lovefia

Posted on May 16, 2014

Kuan Kaantong Gup Gang Por Pla Lai is one of those shows that you don’t want to say goodbye to. It is one of those shows where you sit back and actually miss the characters. Vicky Sunisa chimed in the Tonight Show that after the closing celebration of Spinsters Versus Casanovas, she thought about her character Nampeung and how much she would miss her. You know that it’s a good story with great characters if the actress herself long to play her character again. The ending itself closes on an uplifting note, but open ended enough that it can carry over to a potential sequel. So maybe this is just the beginning to another ending? I sure hope so. I can watch the heck…

‘Yah Leum Chan’ will end with 13 episodes

lovefia

Posted on May 14, 2014

Yah Leum Chan – namely Forget Me Not – is coming to an end after such a highly anticipated beginning. From the outset, it was a recipe for success: we have a renown director PaaJaew, an acclaimed producer of Sood Saneha, and a star studded cast of Anne Thongprasom, Tik Jesadaporn, Kong Saharat and Rita Jensen. But despite having all of the seemingly right ingredients, it is as if no one really tasted the food. So the dish comes out looking pretty but missing a certain spice, leaving one quite regretful that the chef couldn’t pull it off.

First Ekkaphong in Kularb Son Klin

lovefia

Posted on May 12, 2014

Currently airing on evening television is Kularb Son Klin starring First Ekkaphong and Marie Broenner by Quiz and Quest production. Evening dramas air Monday to Friday for 50 minutes and doesn’t procure as many viewers as their primetime counterpart, and they tend to be a little fluffier and a lot more contrived. However, after giving evening dramas my due diligence, I find myself enjoying it so thoroughly. And you have one person to thank for that, First Ekkaphong. Despite being relegated to playing an evening drama pr’ek, I find First to be more engaging than other primetime pr’eks out there. He’s charming, too tall, and absolutely too handsome for his own good. I started noticing First in Nang Rai Summer where he delighted me…

Yah Leum Chan: Episode 11

lovefia

Posted on May 8, 2014

EPISODE 11 PREVIEW Kemchart must have done an insane amount of merit from his past life because in this lifetime, everyone – in exception to our heroine Su – is so nice to him. We see that he’s withdrawn, sad, giving up hope with life. His father figure, Somkit, cannot fathom to see his beloved employer depressed and seeks Ganlong’s help. He shamelessly asks Ganlong to help Kemchart and his company by kneeling down and begging. Ganlong, being the sweetheart that she is, could only give in. But before she helps Kemchart, she wants to know how Su really feels about him. With a person who is as tightlipped and stubborn as Su, one has to use sneaky methods. Ganlong pretends to be angry…

Su is avoiding everything as usual, but we finally learn why she appeared back in Kemchart’s life. Looks like Eua is the only person trying to keep the sanity around, patching up hurt feelings and working his magic as usual.

The Lady Summer (Nang Rai Summer)– A Review

lovefia

Posted on May 5, 2014

More than twenty years ago, Pu Song Tarn Resort in Ratburi had once been a renowned resort due to its exotic and rare hybrid flower, The Lady Summer. However after the unfortunate death of its horticulturist, this rare breed ceased to bloom and flower for any eyes to feast upon its beauty, thus taking away the guests, the popularity, and the curiosity with it, leaving Pu Song Tarn Resort scraping by in present day, with an interested buyer knocking at its door. But the younger generation of the resort owner, Tonnam (First Akkapong), has grand ideals and strong work ethic, not to mention something to prove. He is determined to turn things around and make his resort- a resort that his father built from…

Courting the Casanovas

lovefia

Posted on May 3, 2014

Courting the Casanovas is no easy feat, especially for the Spinsters. But all things are difficult before they are easy, no? I just love this lakorn to pieces. It’s my new crack show. I haven’t sat by my tv waiting for every minute as I do with this show. It’s embarrassing, really. Nursing headaches from too much margaritas last night AND waking up early? Blasphemy. But I’d do it again. From last week’s episodes, the girls made peace and are back together again. The inciting incident – the fact that they were provoked to find a boyfriend – no longer matters and the girls can give up their ruse. So what’s the point of having a fake boyfriend around? And that my friends, is…
