Since today marks the first day of lovefia.com (but many days – in fact years – for lovefia.wordpress.com), and since June is also creeping up on us, I think it is apt to take stock of the lakorn that has aired thus far, as well as upcoming anticipated lakorns for the remainder of 2014.
When I was much younger, and when lakorns used to be on VHS and you’d have to go to the video store to rent them, I watched everything – from Channel 7 to Channel 3 and even Channel 5- no exceptions. Lakorns will not be ignored. As time goes by and my days, hours, and minutes are taken up by work and life, I have to be a little more selective. Also, when you watch a lot of lakorns like me, you develop a certain taste and expectations for the crème de la crème, and learn to really put aside lakorns that are not worth your time.
Let’s take a look at lakorns this year thus far.
Currently Airing
- Leh Nangfah (Ch. 5)
- Kom Payabat (Ch. 7)
- Sapai Hua Dang (Ch.7)
- Kularb Son Klin (Ch. 3)
- Narak (Ch. 5)
- Soo San Khon Pen (Ch. 7)
Recently premiered:
- Sanaeha Sunya Kaen (Weds – Thurs May 21st Dome Pakorn and Janie Tienphusuwan)
- Rak Ork Rit (Fri-Sun May 17th Pope Thanawat and Mew Nitha)
I am currently only watching Kularb Son Klin, Sanaeha Sunya Kaen and Rak Ork Rit. When you’re watching these lakorns during their scheduled days, it makes it less time consuming than to marathon it, although marathoning lakorns certainly have its appeal. You get to watch the whole story in one fell swoop, which is really nice.
The currently airing lakorns – whether evening or primetime lakorns – offer such a wide variety of storyline and plot. We have Kularb Son Klin, a girl who wants to achieve her dreams of exploring Australia: even if it means learning to be a chef, and pleasing an entire crowd of head chefs, mom and especially the leading guy. But things are more than what she anticipated when she falls in love with our guy and have to choose between her dream and her love. What’s a girl to do? Then recently there’s Rak Ork Rit, a story about a private eye accepting a murder case. How do you determine whodunit when things don’t add up? And what if everything isn’t what it seems?
And finally, Sanaeha Sunya Kaen, a story about a newly wedded man who loses his wife before the consummation of their marriage. He’s a one true love kind of man so he takes it to heart when he learns that some drunken girl had stood in his wife’s path. Instead of the girl dying, his wife who had the protection of her car AND an airbag, meets her maker. It must be fate, or a poorly written death scene. Our guy vows to avenge his wife’s death by making the other girl’s life a living hell. How will he do this? Well, he’s going to hire her to be his sister’s nurse! How the revenge plan will unfold, we shall soon find out. Is holy matrimony a good revenge plan? Well, maybe to the devil himself.. but with Mr. Hotness Dome, it might be a purgatory that many would sign up for. At any rate, it’s an entertaining show thus far.
We also have the following two lakorns that will air in the near future:
- Kreep Nee Hua Jai Mee Ter (Ch. 3 Mew Laknara and Pop Thagoon)
- Ruen Rissaya (Ch. 3 Por Thrisadee and Namtarn Pichukana)
Recently completed:
Channel 3
- Fai Rak Plerng Kaen (11 End)
- Yah Leum Chan (13 End)
- Spinsters Versus Casanovas (14 End)
- Look Tard
- Samee Tee Tra
- Cubic
- Nai Suan Kwan
- Nang Rai Summer
- Por Kai Jae
- Wieng Roy Dao
- Fai Nai Wayu
- Lookmai Kong Phor Series
Channel 7
- Kularb Rai Kong Nai Tawan
- Payu Tewada
- Haang Kreuang
- Jao Sao Salatan
Channel 5
- Koom Nang Kruan
Other
- Full House
Out of the recently completed lakorn list, I have seen three lakorns to their completion from Channel 3: Nang Rai Summer, Yah Leum Chan and Spinsters Versus Casanovas. I love Nang Rai Summer – to which I marathoned – and absolutely adored Spinsters Versus Casanovas . Out of the lakorns this year, I would say SVC has really knocked my socks off. From beginning to end, SVC manages to stick to what they’re good at – which is to make you laugh and cry along with three unconventional heroines. Let’s hope for part two. Yah Leum Chan was enjoyable in its own, convoluted way, and it’s worth it if only to tune in for Kong and Rita scenes.
As for the rest, I haven’t seen them thoroughly enough to have an opinion. What have you enjoyed this year? What are you anticipating?
For the remainder of the year, there are some big lakorns to look out for. Lom Sorn Rak with Nadech as a twin; Sai See Plerng with Chompoo Araya, Por Natawat and Chakrit Yamnam; Rising Sun Series with our four popular actors and actresses: Mario Maurer, Taew Nataporn, Nadech Kugimiya and Yaya Urassaya. These aforementioned lakorns should air this year. You can head on over to Bloggerslakorns to read about other channels and lakorns that are currently filming or looking to air soon.

Alas, I’ve been asked quite frequently what I’ll be recapping next. So I’ll just turn the request over to you, what would you like to read about?
Feel free to take the poll below: (these are lakorns I wouldn’t mind taking on)
Congratulations on getting your own domain – lovefia.com. I hope you have fun with this blog and the new digital identity :).
Thank you for your continued support, Astra 🙂
Hi Fia, Im one of the silent followers of this site…Thank you soo much for all the recaps that you do and Congratulations for the lovefia.com – hope it will have many more years…
on another note, omgosh….Spinsters Versus Casanovas totally rocked for me too :)…..I found it to be such a gem bcoz I could totally relate…when I watched it, I felt like I was hanging out with my girlfriends…lol
I’m currently waiting for Leh Nangfah to end so that I can marathon it….the chemistry between Dj and Vill got me hooked….
Im partially looking forward to Sai See Plerng…i looove Chakrit but Chompoo has yet to really impress me, considering the vast number of lead actors she has worked with..but I think ill give it a try..hopefully will not be disappointed if they dont dress Chakrit at least once in a blue suit….ahahahhaha….lol…
Hello Emma,
I’m always happy to see my silent followers surfacing, I just need to hit the right note with them! It appears that Spinsters Vs Casanovas did that for you. I totally agree, the show is very relatable and makes me somewhat wistful that my best friends are scattered all over the country. I have not seen Leh Nangfah yet, since Channel 3 has done a great job in keeping me entertained. But I will venture out to other channels soon. I am looking forward to Prao from Channel 7, starring Weir and Aum, and I am a fan of both. The story centers around Prao who’s an actress and Weir’s her bodyguard. Hopefully the channel does this duo justice.
Sai See Plerng – I’m excited too! Although it’s a remake, the casting seems superb. I would prefer that Chakrit is the leading man.. but it looks like Por might end up with the girl, sigh. Nothing against Por Natawat though, I just like Chakrit more. I know he doesn’t have blue eyes, but blue certainly suits him, ha! Not to mention, Alek Theeradeth will pair with Mew Nitha. Exciting shows ahead! Happy lakorn reading/watching Emma! Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂
congrats Fia! Should I update your link or either links work?
Hey Lady! I’m not sure why your comment keeps going to my spam folder – I almost missed this one. No need to update the link since it will automatically take you to the new link. Thanks so much!
Have you ever thought of recapping a non lakorn?
Btwn I’m fun/asl, I finally crack down my password from my wordpress account. I could have done so sooner but I was lazy.
So far I like Spinsters vs. Casanovas and I have yet to finish it. I need to set my priority straight because I have been constantly pushing this drama aside. I am currently half way through. Cubic was a let down. Even if the action scenes and editing suck, I was hoping the plot/story-line would make up for it. Nope, it didn’t but I manage to finish it, mainly due to the time it aired. During that time, I had nothing to watch and if it wasn’t for Chalida, I would have dropped it like a hot potato. For YLC, I skimmed through and read recaps but watched throughly the last 3 episode. If it wasn’t for Gan and Eua I would have flew to Thailand and beat the heck out of Tik and Ann for choosing horrible characters to portray.
To all, I am trying to spread the love for twdrama In a Good Way, so if you have not seen it, watch it. It’s an order. I am 200% sure that you will come to thank me. You are very much welcome. The drama is set in mid 90s so those that have lived/grew up in that era, you will love it.
Hey Fun/Asl! Recapping a non-lakorn, what do you mean exactly? A movie? Or other dramas from different countries? That would be an interesting and possibly challenging endeavor 🙂
I just saw Godzilla and now I want to watch Japanese drama, any recommendations? In a Good Way sounds interesting, is it angsty? Funny? Romantic? You know I love a good romcom.
Anything non Thai related, so yes other dramas.

Be prepared to swoon. Romance, seeking freedom, slice of drama and everything in between. And say RIP to your pillows. It has one of the best love confession ever. You will just need to pass the first 2 episode to get hooked.
If you dont have a viki pass, you can use my account. I hate ads and since there isnt much discussion on the drama, I like to turn on the discussion button where you can see other user comment throughout the drama. Just let me know so that I can send you my username and password.
Ah, so sweet of you! That would be great- lovefia1210@gmail.com. Thanks ka!
So what about Mafia series?
They have recently started the fitting/filming so I’m not certain if the first part of the series will make the 2014 cut. Rising Sun started the filming eons ago but still in the editing phase so I didn’t want to hold out hope that Mafia series will air this year. Who knows, maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Thank you for your guidance… I started watching my first lakorns based on you ratings & reviews six months ago…
I usually choose to marathon thai dramas because I FF a lot!… There must be only 3 lakorns I managed to watch without skipping any episodes… (I watch YLC while airing but started to lose interest after episode 8 ).
Now that novelty has worn off & that I have somewhat gotten over the culture shock, I have been dropping almost all the lakorns I’ve started lately.. The casting of ‘hot/cute guys or girls with no acting skills & little room for improvement & 3 layers of make up is part of the fun in lakorns I guess but for me it’s really a turn off !
I actually watched a couple of thai movies out of curiosity this week and was surprised to see actors being natural on screen with realistic characters to portray ! )
In any case I will continue to check out your site to find worthwhile projects. I guess Spinsters vs Casanovas fits the bill.
Hi Johanna, indeed, movies have a different mentality than lakorns – movies prescribe to reality while lakorns are definitely more exaggerated. I’m glad to hear that you found a couple of lakorns that are more worthy of your time. At this day and age, it’s not worth it to dwell on bad ones. Check out the other highly rated lakorns on ratings page, that should help guide you – if you have similar tastes as me that is 🙂
@ fia
The 3 lakorns I was referring to are Sood sanae ha, Dao Kiao duen & Sawan Biang (for this one it took me forever to find episodes at least with some kind of european language subs ! ) So you can tell I’m following your lead closely. I’ve now started a couple of old ch 7 lakorns… I understand this blog has been implementing a strict ban against this channel 🙂
I don’t believe I’ve banned channel 7 on my blog at all. I believe it’s more darkness blog that doesn’t recap/watch channel 7. I will give channel 7 a chance if the lakorns deem worthy. Lately I’ve been preoccupied with channel 3, but I’m anticipating ch.7’s Prao with Aum and Weir 🙂 Let me know if you come across anything good in the meantime!
In Sanaeha Sunya Kaen, it was really Konok’s fault for speeding and not paying attention to the road. He even warned her to not drive so fast in the beginning. Poor written death scene, maybe, but in most reality cases the drunks almost always survives because their muscles are relaxed and are unaware whereas the sober ones always dies because their muscles, blood vessels, and heart tense up in panic into shock. Perhaps maybe that’s what happened to Kanok? I’ve never watched any Dome lakorns before so I’m actually excited and have my interest set on this one. He’s so tall, pale, and handsome. ^_^
Btw, the long and anticipated YLC was a disppointment so I hope Janie and Dome redeems my love for lakorns again.
Hello M! Sorry to hear about your subsequent fall out with lakorns. There are times I needed a break too, but lakorns are my bread and butter so I always end up finding something to watch. Good thing there are 4 lakorns airing a week which helps with the selection process 🙂 Let’s hope SSK is a good one! P.S. that’s an interesting tidbit about sobriety. Thanks for sharing!
Im surprised you didnt watch/finish samee teetra. That was the last lakorn I watched all of the episodes without ff any scenes. Lovefia you have to go back and watch till the end. The last episode by far was really great and had a fantastic ending sequence. By the way congrats on your website. I finished so much lakorns this year but I mostly ff through them and i cant really remember the ones i watched. I agree with comments about ylc it was a let down and I only skipped through to the ending.
Hey C.H! Samee Tee Tra is on my list to go back and finish, but my list is quite long now that I’m not sure when I’ll be able to reach it lol. Sometimes it’s best just to move on? Thanks for the rec and the congrats regarding the blog 🙂
Hi Fia! Also a silent reader for the most prt but I just had to chime in to this post. In my opinion, 2014 did not really start off good with Lakorns but I managed to watch some like Cubic or Wiang Roy Dao and Fai Nai Wayu but they dragged for me so I dropped them. I’m planning on going back to Cubic though. Recently, I found subs for Kularb Rai Kong Nai Tawan. It’s probably the first Lakorn of the year to get me hooked so far. I love it to bits and pieces. Kan and Mai have great Chemistry! The Lakorn is like a light- comical lakorn well that is after you past episode 3. Everyone should give it a try! 😀 I rarely watch Ch.7 too. Spinsters VS. Casanovas definitely caught my attention too! I’ve tried so hard to find subs and finally found it so I’m slowly getting their but I’m fine with it. I really like Alex and Joy they’re cute. As for anticipating I can’t wait to see Dao Kien Duan 2. The 4 main cast are such a great pick. Ken and Namtarn make an adorable couple. Phet and Toey are the cutest! I think other than that I only anticipate Mario and Taew’s part for the Rising Sun Series. Hopefully we’ll get to see it soon (: What are you anticipating?
Hi Xiongurl! Thanks for your comment. I for one love a good light-hearted romcom, so I may have to put Kularp Rai Kong Nai Tawan higher on my list. I’m anticipating al of the lakorns that I’ve listed above, Sai See Plerng, both parts of Rising Sun Seres- I have a soft spot for Yadech- and Lom Son Rak. I would agree that the lakorn year has started on somewhat of a low note, but hopefully it can improve from here. Happy lakorn watching, my friend!
@ Fia- Rising Sun Series and Lom Sorn Rak are the lakorn that im looking forward to, so—– I would love for you to cap which ever lakorn that is going to air next
Hi Fia,
I am usually always a devoted silent reader for every website/blog that has anything to do with lakorns . This will be my first comment and that is probably because I am seeing a trend of other silent readers coming out from this post. I figured I would finally join in. I have been a devoted CH 3 fan for many years and like you I used to rent videos and watched every type but have become very selective with the actors/actresses and channel through the years. Channel 3 dominates in my opinion in terms of production and budget so I stick with ch 3 lakorns. One thing about me is that I believe I am one of the few people out there who has watched and will watch ALMOST ALL ch3 lakorns that air from start to finish (yes I have more time than others or shall I say I spend a ridculous amount of time dedicated to lakorns compared to others).I tend to only follow the popular ones and don’t really watch the evening lakorns so much. Of all the ch3 lakorns you listed, I have watched all of them except Nang Rai Summer, Por Kai Jae, and the Lookmai Kong Phor Series. I think in the 28 years of my life, I never went more than a couple days without watching lakorns or talk shows. I just thought I leave you a comment and say that you are currently my favorite lakorn blog site. Thank you for what you do because when I watch lakorns, I love reading the comments and hearing what others have to say and for the most part I tend to agree. Maybe one day I will consider writing about lakorns as well or helping to recap as I see that the demand outweighs the supply. 🙂
Hello Uhrenah!
What a pleasure to see your comment 🙂 Thanks for feeling compelled to leave a mark. That is quite the dedication to lakorns, I salute you. Such viewing experience should not go to waste, and I think your timing may be spot on, the supply these days is struggling from the demand. Any lakorn blogs that surface will be embraced. I encourage you to consider it! If you want to practice before you start, I welcome you to guest write for me.
To be honest, I’m not a big viewer of evening lakorns either, but I’ve been swayed by First Ekkaphong. Nang Rai Summer is definitely better than Kularp Son Klin, story wise. But Kularp Son Klin did manage to engage me on the pra’nang level. First and Marie are so adorable together, I can watch them in another lakorn. I will continue to watch evening dramas for First!
And finally, an overdue warm welcome to the blog! ~P’Fia
Thanks for the invitation to guest write…I would consider it because I doubt I will go as far as to start my own thing. So if you ever need back up or help, I would be able to help you although I cannot read or write in thai, I speak and understand it fluently. As for your comment, I too fell for First Ekkapong as the character Sunny from Roy Marn but I haven’t found anything after that where I was drawn to him and his gossip affair with Namfon in reality didn’t help either. After reading your post about nang rai summer, I immediately Youtubed the lakorn and did a quick run through, I think it is somethign I can end up liking when I have the time to watch it. Normally when I run out of things to watch I will revisit older lakorns from my to watch list.
Sounds good. I’ll ping you via email and we can discuss this further 🙂
Thanks for posting summaries of the popular lakorn on your blogs. My only question for you if you can answer for me is how do I find out the soundtracks of these lakorns? The songs I really liked are the ones from Rak Ork Rit. PLEASE POST IT if you know it. THANKS!!
