Into the Desert: Fah Jarod Sai

lovefia

Posted on August 21, 2013

Sky Meets Sand (Fah Jarod Sai) is a novel inspired lakorn, based in the vast expanse of the Arabian desert, that conjures up a story seemingly removed from the Thai culture, depicting a far away land, and far away characters, into a world of extremes. It’s not your friendly or mystical Arabian Nights nor Aladdin, but a tale of plots and twists, through the eyes of Michelle De La Roni (Kwan Usamanee), and how she deals with being a deer in the headlights. Michelle really just wants to belong in this world that has rejected her. Made orphaned after an airplane accident that claimed her parents lives, her Aristocratic French grandparents abandoned her to a convent, due to her mixed heritage, apparently only claiming…

Undercover Villainesse – Margie and Peter – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on August 6, 2013

“Just because I play a female villain on TV, doesn’t mean I’m a villain in real life,” Surikarn (aka Soh) says ruefully. This is the biggest misperception and a conundrum she faces daily in the show biz, but she takes it all in stride. Unlike many daras who play female villains, Soh has her own fanclub. In real life, she is a responsible, easy to work with and has an adorably funky attitude. Not the bad sort, well, only if it’s aptly deserved. Cat fights, stealing other people’s husband and being a true villain in the sense of action lakorns, Soh can play it all, and that is why she won Best Female Villain of the Year award. Despite the stigma against her, Soh…

Kaen Sanaeha (Furious Love) Episode 1 Impressions

lovefia

Posted on July 2, 2013

This year must be an aristocratic year. From the Khunchais of Juthatheps to our newest installment of Mom Ratchawongs of Rangsiya Palace, Kaen Sanaeha (Furious Love) is taking over our Monday-Tuesday primetime slot, bringing yet another interesting story to chase away the Monday blues. Who&Who Production team is spearheading this lakorn, bringing in veteran actor Nok Chatchai (also a director for Khun Chai Ronnapee), another veteran actress Lalita Ponyopas (original Wanida’s leading lady) and our newest addition to the nang’ek roster, Patricia Good from Mr. Farmer and His Hi-so Sweetheart (Noinah), not to mention Son Yuke an X-Act actor. This blend of old and new, and a hint of the drama susceptible to X-Act lakorns but backed by Channel 3, we shall have a…

A letter to Khun Chai Ronnapee

lovefia

Posted on June 18, 2013

To my dearest Khun Chai Nong~ I hope this letter finds you well. I know you have been lonely. Being the last bachelor in the house, being the notorious rake and yet, being bested by your older brothers who seem more happier than ever with their soulmates. You must be nostalgic. Everything that you’re so sure about suddenly doesn’t make sense anymore. Like that singer bee who wants you for your title, your popularity and your immense palace. I know it didn’t used to bother you. Do you know why that is? I must break some bitter sweet news to you, my dear sweet, sweet younger brother, you have grown up. Congratulations.

Khun Chai Ratchanon – The Gentleman and his Warrior Princess

lovefia

Posted on May 27, 2013

The three previous sweet installments of Supaburoot Juthathep series paved their way for Khun Chai Ratchanon, a romantic adventure lakorn centering on the fourth Aristocratic brother, Mom Rajawong Ratchanon Juthathep (aka Khun Chai Lek), a civil engineer who opts to station in Nong Khai to avoid matrimony with Sineenuch. He is second to the last chance that his noble grandmother could fulfill her son’s sacred promise to his friend. This time around she is more determined to see it through, and thus evoking a higher stake (and much desperation) for this story. But Khun Chai Lek is a man who prefers to create his own path in life, thank you very much. Even though he is an easy going, flirtatious (the notorious rake) and…

Khun Chai Puttipat- First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on May 5, 2013

I love the era of the 50’s and 60’s; ballroom dancing, classical music, fancy speaking, and an air of smooth pacing where people aren’t pressed for time. It’s one of those period dramas that I don’t mind watching. Especially when The Juthathep is front and center. Who could resist the famous five gentlemen of Phra Nakhon (capital)? Khun Chai Puttipat follows the story of the third brother in the line of Momratchawong Juthatheps, who is a young, and most capable neurosurgeon in the city (perhaps even all of Thailand) since he hailed from advance medical studies in London. His passion in life is medicine and treating his patients, as well as the receptive conditions of his patients’ family. Therefore Khun Chai Pat has no…

The Cunning Love (Paen Rai Phai Rak) – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on March 21, 2013

Monday nights just got interesting again. Brought to us by Master One Production, Paen Rai Phai Rak (The Cunning Love) features the unassumingly beautiful Matt Peeranee together with the infamous Film Rattapoom in a rom-com lakorn that challenges love in the eyes of a flight attendant, Kemmik. She is jaded, anti-men, and the epitome of a hot mess. In her extracurricular activities, plus side job, Kemmik uses her beauty and talents to test the population of deceitful and amoral men. Essentially, ladies hire her to test if their man is faithful to them. Kemmik doesn’t mind it over much, because it serves to prove her point over and over again- the lesson that men are scums and that only lust exist in their cursed…

What do you get when Thai Indiana Jones meets royalty meets a striking student? Well, Khun Chai Tharatorn of course, story one of the Five Gentlemen Series. The premise of the story centers on Khun Chai Tharatorn Juthathep (aka Khun Chai Yai played by Grate Warintorn), eldest of five siblings, hailing from a long line of Mom Rajawongs (Thai Honorables) who is a professor and archaeologist. This is where the Indiana Jones comes in because our Khun Chai Yai goes on an archaeological excursion to a prasat (ancient castle) and finds himself having to protect the national treasures. Conflict number two comes in the form of an old age promise his noble father made to his friend: that one of his five sons must…

Pan Rak Pan Rai (Love Scheme, Evil Scheme)

lovefia

Posted on February 21, 2013

It was a dark and stormy night when a mother was separated with her infant child, amidst a blazing fire that scorched the hospital in Chiang Mai. The infant’s basinet fell into the stream, floating away from her crying birth mother. Resting on the baby girl’s chest lays a necklace with a ring and family pendant that will form as the only remaining evidences to the baby girl’s true heritage. 20 years later, the mother, hailing from a high pedigree, Khun Ying Nappa-Dara still has recurring nightmares about her missing child. She has not moved on and deems it all too painful to bear and wishes to cease living, which in effect pains her father to no end. He regrets his behavior 20 years…

A Relationship Fall-Out: Raeng Prathana First Analysis

lovefia

Posted on January 4, 2013

Raeng Prathana (Powerful Desires) aired its first episode today amidst the turmoil going on behind the scenes of Nuer Mek 2, the very first lakorn that has been cancelled prior to completing its course on TV. Perhaps it will go back on air, after the controversy and political chastising has simmered down. It is unfortunate but it is clear that the government controls the media. Being so far removed from the goings on, one can only speculate at the unfairness of it all. But it is important to breathe, take a step back and remove the frustrations from the new lakorn that happened to be in line behind Nuer Mek 2: Raeng Prathana, and give it its due diligence. From the production team LakornThai,…
