Suea – The Weretiger – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on December 4, 2014

We’ve seen our fair share of TV adaptations about tales of the werewolf and even vampires, but are you ready to see a depiction of the weretiger, more specifically “Suea” (tiger)? In this midweek lakorn lineup, Suea starring Taya Rogers, Nike Nitidon and Bank Cash, the weretigers are portrayed as dangerous sorcerers who are capable of shape shifting into the human form during a full moon the color of blood in order to lure humans and eat them. The wild animal keepers believe this wholeheartedly and we see them trying to hunt a male (Bank Cash) and female weretigers on the verge of mating. The only way to kill them is to aim for the heart.

Sam Bai Mai Tao – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on December 2, 2014

Brought to us by Maker Group Production and directed by Chai Chatayodom, Sam Bai Mai Tao, is the newest weekend installment from Channel 3. Airing its first episode last Sunday, this remake from ’95 brings on a lighthearted family drama to the current lakorn lineup. The story follows a warm and loving family- as seen in the above photo – albeit with a strict father. There is nothing more in life that he loves more than to freeze the moments with his daughters and keep them where he wants them. Perhaps due to his possessive and interfering parental ways, his three daughters are anything but under his firm control.

Dao Kiang Duen – Episode 1 Impression

lovefia

Posted on July 18, 2014

Broadcast Thai Production just stepped it up a notch with their latest weekend installment, Dao Kiang Duen, starring Ken Pupoom and Namtarn. Airing on Channel 3, following the first story about Prakai Dao and Khun Chai Jantarapanu in Dao Kiaw Duen, this sequel fast forwards 20+ years to the current setting of this story about their son, Momluang Jantarakarn. This lakorn not only reminds me of how much I enjoyed the first installment, but actually manages to impress me with its tone, quality and above all, loveable characters. Within five minutes of the show, I am already laughing and having a ball. If they keep up the funny as well as consistent characters, I may come to love this lakorn even more than its…

Are you in the mood for something different? Then the latest weekend installment, Rak Ork Rit (Jinxed Love) might be a good lakorn for you. Premiered this past Saturday, Rak Ork Rit presents the debate about one’s belief in luck. Do you believe that life is what you make of it, or do you believe that your fate is predetermined? Is life mostly about cause and effect or are we fated to ride this Destiny train?

The beginning of madness?

lovefia

Posted on February 20, 2014

We all have our fair share of baggage when going into a relationship, some more than others. Especially Karat (Ploy Chermarn) who had been widowed twice with no good for nothing husbands who only saw her for her money. She didn’t quite lose hope for love though, as she married her third husband, thanks to her best friend, Sai Nampeung (Jui Warrattaya) who introduced them. Aw. But Karat’s cycle of bad news bear didn’t end there. Her third husband turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag too, and it propelled Karat to believe that maybe all men are like that. From the opening scene, we know that Karat will give as good as she gets. Nobody messes with her. She has a few bitch…

Nai Suan Kwan – First Impression

lovefia

Posted on January 6, 2014

Melodrama is the name of the game in this newest weekend installment, Nai Suan Kwan, which aired its premier episode this past Sunday. Headlining this new channel 3 lakorn is Boy Pakorn and Margie Rasri, produced by TV Scene. Two years and three lakorns respectively later, the pair ‘Bargie’, has reunited to bring more smiles to their shipping fans. And what’s better than to star in a romantic drama, all together with cutesy animal names and a story centering around family conflicts and.. a beautiful garden? The story opens with Peck-pook (Margie) driving her father to their newly acquired home. The cinematography is nothing shy of perfection, with clear and crisp HD quality, while the score hints of sadness that indicates even though this…

lovefia

Posted on December 2, 2013

Do you care for a family drama? Perhaps with a side of nobility- old money meets new money- as well as swallowing enough pride to save your legacy? Samee (Husband) our mid week lakorn, is about to take us for an unforgettable ride, in that we’ve been here before, 13 years ago to be exact. This time around Grate Warintorn and Pream Ranida, from Khun Chai Tharatorn, reunites with a slew of dense, memorable cast. Pream takes on the role of Mom Ratchawong Rasika (Khun Ying Eye) who has been brainwashed since childhood to hate Jao Sua, a wealthy Chinese man. Ying Eye is a proud, stubborn woman who holds on to the last thread of her legacy even when she learns that her…

And then there’s Mario: Madam Dun

lovefia

Posted on December 2, 2013

Another heartthrob premiered his newest lakorn, Madam Dun this past Monday, and if his experience in movies and lakorns are any indication, Mario Maurer has proven that he has the acting chops. He plays Next or Bakma, a country bumpkin who recently graduated and must decide his fate. Should he follow in his adopted parent’s footsteps and pursue teaching, or chase this deep-seated dream of finding his biological father? Next has never entertained his dreams before, until he meets the down and out celebrity agent Madam Butchi, who gives him a way out. The saucy Ploy Chermarn plays Madam Butchi, and their real life age difference is similar to the age difference in the storyline. About 7 years apart, Madam Butchi is an ambitious…

It’s all about James: Ruk Sudrit

lovefia

Posted on December 2, 2013

If you haven’t figured it out already, Ruk Sudrit aka Race (the English title as suggested by the production team) has James Jirayu front and center as the self prescribed bad boy with daddy issues. Something happened between his parents, which caused his mom to hightail out of Thailand, leaving her only son to deal with the controlling father alone. But Ittirit does not blame his momma who abandoned them; he blames his father instead for putting his momma through tears and strife. And to make matters worse, his father adopted his partner’s son, adding another level of competition and angst in Ittirit’s eyes. So Ittirit opts to play the misunderstood rebel. Therefore it is not surprising that during his final examination in his…

Updates.. and Anko Kon Rak Strawberry

lovefia

Posted on October 11, 2013

Oh thank god it’s Friday. It’s been a rough week. It’s the beginning of fourth quarter and the end of work life balance as we know it. Interestingly enough, I’ve been quite happy to stare mindlessly at the television during my self-imposed break time; the American television shows that is. In the last few weeks, shows such as the Blacklist, Sleepy Hollow, and Agents of Shield premiered their first episodes. They were good and had great potential. Yet as the episodic series continue, I find myself slowly caring less about it. Then there are the shows that I’ve watched on and off in the last year, Glee, the Voice, New Girl that recently launched their new seasons as well. I wanted to see how…
