Sai Lap Rak Puan Maintains Its Charm

lovefia

Posted on July 26, 2016

And such a charming show it is. Show starts off with one of the strongest first impression in a long while, and maintains its charm, which is in turning a serious moment right into a laugh out loud moment. Then going from uproariously laughing to a fit of tears without losing its grip on the story. Reducing its viewers, at least me anyway, to an emotional mess. I think to myself, I am watching a funny show, but why am I crying?

If I could use one emoji to express the first episode of Sai Lap Rak Puan, it would be the smiley face with heart shaped eyes.

Between Love and Duty – Sai Lap Rak Puan

lovefia

Posted on July 1, 2016

Following Tayard Arsoon, Andrew and Ploy’s lakorn – Sai Lap Rak Puan – will give our weekend a nice laugh. This is an action, romance, comedy lakorn that centers around Din (Andrew’s character) who’s a top secret government spy agent. It’s so secretive that he can’t even tell his significant other, Ran (Ploy’s character), what he does for a living. Instead everyone is led to believe that he’s a sales agent, which is not up to par with Ran’s hi-so status (at least per her mother anyway). Looks like not only will Din battle with his real job while trying to maintain his love life, but he has rich in laws to contend with. Even the teaser says you can’t start a marriage with…

The beginning of madness?

lovefia

Posted on February 20, 2014

We all have our fair share of baggage when going into a relationship, some more than others. Especially Karat (Ploy Chermarn) who had been widowed twice with no good for nothing husbands who only saw her for her money. She didn’t quite lose hope for love though, as she married her third husband, thanks to her best friend, Sai Nampeung (Jui Warrattaya) who introduced them. Aw. But Karat’s cycle of bad news bear didn’t end there. Her third husband turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag too, and it propelled Karat to believe that maybe all men are like that. From the opening scene, we know that Karat will give as good as she gets. Nobody messes with her. She has a few bitch…

The Boy is Mine – Samee Tee Tra

lovefia

Posted on February 13, 2014

Pope Thanawat plays the boy that is wedged between Ploy Chermarn and Jui Jiranan in this epic romantic battle in Samee Tee Tra. The lakorn is a battle of the wills, with wit matching wit and seeing who comes out on top. In the original version, with the director Anne Thonprasom playing the main character, she had always stood out on top. No question about it. But what’s exciting about this newest rendition is that we have two leading ladies who are excellent actresses in their own right duking it out in this lakorn. Will Ploy outperform Jui who recently found a new home in Channel 3, or will Jui put on a performance of her life and steal the hearts of channel 3…

Madam Butchi’s Backstory – ‘Madam Dun’

lovefia

Posted on December 3, 2013

Being a star isn’t always pretty or glamorous. There are aspects of the profession that can be downright dishonest, disgusting and tainted. This show does not romanticize the entertainment industry for being the glitz and glam that it appears to be, but the show puts bad management in the spotlight. If chosen poorly, one can severely be taken advantage of. Case in point, Ann, Madam Butchi’s beloved friend. In the past, Madam Butchi is merely Paksi, Ann’s sidekick. The two had promised to stick together and pursue the stardom (with Paksi being the rock of course.) They meet the renowned Je who turns Ann into a star, and utilizes Paksi like a slave. In retrospect, this taught Paksi all there is to know about…

And then there’s Mario: Madam Dun

lovefia

Posted on December 2, 2013

Another heartthrob premiered his newest lakorn, Madam Dun this past Monday, and if his experience in movies and lakorns are any indication, Mario Maurer has proven that he has the acting chops. He plays Next or Bakma, a country bumpkin who recently graduated and must decide his fate. Should he follow in his adopted parent’s footsteps and pursue teaching, or chase this deep-seated dream of finding his biological father? Next has never entertained his dreams before, until he meets the down and out celebrity agent Madam Butchi, who gives him a way out. The saucy Ploy Chermarn plays Madam Butchi, and their real life age difference is similar to the age difference in the storyline. About 7 years apart, Madam Butchi is an ambitious…

“Phu Yai Lee Gup Nang Ma”- Headman Lee and Ms. Ma

lovefia

Posted on January 2, 2013

In the summer of 2009, Ploy Chermarn and Por Thrisadee embarked on a fun, kick off your high heels, dig your feet in the buffalo’s mud romantic comedy lakorn entitled “Phu Yai Lee Gup Nang Ma” (Headman Lee and Ms. Ma) produced by Mam Thitima of No Problem Production. Inside this Channel 3 drama, we have a country boy meets city girl, Lady and the proverbial Tramp type plot. Despite the atypical, overly done up storyline used in many lakorns, “Headman Lee and Ms. Ma” manages to stay authentically upcountry- thanks to Por Thrisadee’s fine Suphan accent- and endear us with a very cute drama with staying power. Ploy Chermarn portrays Malinee, a supermodel (as she likes to call it) who was raised in…

Perd Gong Wic 3 Recap: Rak Kon Tao Fah

lovefia

Posted on July 23, 2012

Ken Theeradeth’s handsome face greets us as he explains the meaning of the title, Rak Kon Tao Fah. “The term Rak Kon Tao Fah is actually referred to moms. It’s like when we were children and we try to express how much we love our moms, we would say “rak mae tao fah” (which means I love you this BIG, to the sky, imagine the arm spreading wide action.) “ His on screen mom’s voice tells us that if we didn’t have a child, we wouldn’t know what it’s like. She has raised her son since he was a wee child until he’s a grownup, then one day some random girl would show up and take the one thing that we love away from…

Rak Mai Mee Wan Tai (Love Never Dies) Review

lovefia

Posted on November 5, 2011

When watching Love Never Dies, one must put aside expectations and focus on the one key factor that the director does so well: pairing real life ex lovers as onscreen beaus. It is daring, risky but ultimately brilliant. The attraction for Love Never Dies lies solely on the chemistry between Traipoom, the 400 yr old blood drinking man and Plaichat, his young fearless employee, whose characters are played by the renowned Dome Pakorn Lum and his former girlfriend Ploy Chermarn Boonyasak. Preferring to think of this drama as a romance drama first, then setting in the backdrop of blood sucking vampires second, my plot-induced mind can make way for my romantic heart. Because trust me, you’ll be able to enjoy it so much more.…
