More than what meets the eyes – Love in the Fresh Food Market

lovefia

Posted on August 12, 2012

“Let me stop breathing is easier” (หยุดหายใจง่ายกว่า)- Kala (Ending OST of Love in the Fresh Food Market, Fia’s translations) I am aware that I don’t have the right.. I don’t even have the hope to think about loving you. But the more I am around you, the more I fall in love with you. What should I do, I can’t find my way out. Every breath I take is you, every minute there is you. My mind has only you. How can I stop loving you? Let me stop breathing is easier. My heart has a problem, that I cannot control. It doesn’t matter if you don’t love me, I just want to love someone real, for once. If I shall be disappointed, it…

This Land is Our Land- A Series Review

lovefia

Posted on August 7, 2012

High-res version

Torranee Nee Nee Krai Krong (This Land is Our Land) is a romantic/drama lakorn derived from a book with the same title, the second depiction broadcasted on primetime after the attempt in 1998. Unlike many remakes of its kind, the producer waited for a long time before she partook in this endeavor, until the day she met the perfect duo to cast for Athit and Darunee, the leading characters in the novel. The lakorn demanded a koo-kwan (onscreen sweethearts) that will sweep people off their feet and believably take them on a journey of social ideals, personal aspirations and author’s motives through the eyes of Athit and Darunee. She found her key pieces in Nadech and Yaya, after seeing them in Duangjai Akkanee (Akkanee’s Heart) where they played as star crossed lovers and took fangirling to another level.

After the success of Game Rai Game Rak (Evil Game Love Game), Torranee came as a compelling follow up to Nadech and Yaya’s second collaboration, inducing the fever and fire further for their fan clubs and critics alike. With any hype and anticipation, the question remains if they have done enough to live up to the expectations?

Love in the Fresh Food Market- First Impressions

Posted on August 5, 2012

High-res version

Needing a reprieve from the all encompassing drama of This Land is Our Land, I turned to a new lakorn that promises to be lighthearted, laugh out loud funny and endearing- Rak Kerd Nai Talad Sode- which I will be calling Love in the Fresh Food Market moving forward. This drama is a remake of Andrew Gregson’s lakorn of 2001- needless to say that many of Andy’s lakorns are slowly getting remade like Torranee- this year’s version of Love in the Fresh Food Market brings about a different personality to our leading man’s character, Thong. With Act Art Production and director Off Pongpat (of Roy Mai and Wayupak Montra) along with Mario Maurer as Thong and Margie Rasri as Kim-Lang, this lakorn may just give us a run for our money.

Mario is not a newbie by any means, he is already renown on the silver screen, and debuted on a TV series Plerng Toranong, but surprisingly there is so much more depth to this actor than a serious, cute Plerngrit from Ranong. As Thong, Mario portrayed a funny, fearless and honest vegetable vendor to a tee. The personality he brings to Thong is lively and I feel- the best part about this drama. I find myself tuning into Love in the Fresh Food Market just to see what Thong will do or say next. Not to mention that Mario’s quirky, adorable face makes his character even more appealing.

This Land is Our Land, The Finale Recap

Posted on August 4, 2012

The next morning came all too quickly at grandma’s farm. Vey and Toon approached their prospective partners and demanded their answers. All Athit and Darunee could do is stare at them with pause and uncertainty. This is it, the moment of truth! As Toon and Athit sat under a pergola, she told him that her mom has just arrived from Australia and would like to meet with him, if he had some time. The three stooges tiptoed through the trees to eavesdrop. Toon continued asking him if he still had any concerns left for the farm? Athit merely answered that Darunee is more than capable to take over his role and Vey can soon help her. Whether he goes or stay, no one will…

Maya Tawan it is! (And some character-plot analysis)

lovefia

Posted on July 30, 2012

Thanks very much for voting and inputting your voice! It was a close race between Qi Pao and Maya Tawan, going neck to neck and MT winning at the last minute. But don’t you worry, since we have no idea when it’s airing anyway, I’ll still have some time to recap other lakorns. I will be tuning in to lakorns that are listed under “Definitely,” and as you know, if any one of these lakorns draw my attention, there will be some sort of recap/impression articles to follow. As you might be aware, Maya Tawan is a remake of Sam’s lakorn, a very popular one to boot, in its time. There were many aspects of it that I absolutely adored and empathized with, so allow…

Decisions, decisions- Ep 15 Recap of This Land is Our Land

lovefia

Posted on July 29, 2012

Realizing that the feelings he had for Darunee refuses to be suppressed- the snakebite scene only confirmed his feelings for her – Athit changes course and makes some move. But Darunee is relentlessly tiresome with her attempt to bring up Toon in every waking breath- but when the tables are turned and Athit is paying her the attention- she loses her wits around her. Until they both are reminded (again) of their internal battle and must make a decision of who they’ll spend their lives with. More conjectures from yours truly at the end of this recap. For now, enjoy! — Darunee finds herself explaining to Toon that she was misunderstanding Athit regarding Thongprasri and her son. Toon questions Darunee’s motives however, because it…

Good riddance and a revelation (in the making) – Ep 14 Recap of This Land is Our Land

lovefia

Posted on July 28, 2012

Toon realizes her dream man is not so perfect after all and isn’t willing to accept so she leaves. Athit mourns his heartbreak but realizes he’s not all that heartbroken after all. Darunee on the other hand, feels plain sorry and responsible.; she gets even closer to him to recant. And we have a beautiful revelation in the making. — “Does this (ring) have an owner yet?” Toon asked Athit as he examined the ring on his pinky finger. “No one would want an invaluable ring like this,” he replied, examining his crafty work. Toon tells him that it is valuable to her because he made it with his own hands. He considered her face and asked her if she really wanted it. “Yes,…

In the arms of the wrong girl- Ep 13 Recap This Land is Our Land

lovefia

Posted on July 27, 2012

Sigh.. there’s a lot of that going on, from yours truly. Not the satisfied, happy variety. But the more, frustrated and exasperated kind. It was a rough episode, to say the least. Lots of unspoken, hidden emotions; Darunee being too self-sacrificing; and Toon constantly throwing herself at Athit! Brace yourselves as you watch this episode, it will be heart wrenching! — When Athit and Toon finally pedaled their way home, Vey wanted a word with Athit. He scolded Athit that he stepped out of bounds with Darunee, he didn’t have any right to be on the bike with Darunee when Vey, who was her “fiancé” (delusional aren’t we?) never had the opportunity to do that. Vey wanted to warn Athit in case he forgets…

Perd Gong Wic 3 Recap: Rak Kon Tao Fah

lovefia

Posted on July 23, 2012

Ken Theeradeth’s handsome face greets us as he explains the meaning of the title, Rak Kon Tao Fah. “The term Rak Kon Tao Fah is actually referred to moms. It’s like when we were children and we try to express how much we love our moms, we would say “rak mae tao fah” (which means I love you this BIG, to the sky, imagine the arm spreading wide action.) “ His on screen mom’s voice tells us that if we didn’t have a child, we wouldn’t know what it’s like. She has raised her son since he was a wee child until he’s a grownup, then one day some random girl would show up and take the one thing that we love away from…

“Be careful what you wish for, Darunee” – Ep 12 Recap of This Land is Our Land

lovefia

Posted on July 22, 2012

In Darunee’s condo, Toon is shameless, staring at Athit like he’s meat on a stick. She said that he is good in farming plants, fruits and can cook. Darunee added that he could fix tractors too. Athit, uncomfortable and embarrassed with the attention from Toon, stumbles over the garbage. She overtly smiles at him, couldn’t take her eyes off of him. And Darunee is looking at both of them as if she couldn’t be happier, her plan may just come true. The three sat around the table, prepared to eat the cabbage meal he prepared. Toon kept flattering him about how she loved everything he cooked. I don’t think Athit could handle all of this attention and flirtation fraught on him at one time,…
