A Change of Heart for Chakrit Yamnarm

Chakrit Yamnarm (ชาคริต แย้มนาม) – The Enigmatic and Charasmatic Actor

I used to be a lot like Siriyakorn in my short story “Give Me One Good Reason” in that I had a tendency to judge a person’s worth before I get to know them. It was up to that person to prove me wrong. In this case, I’m talking about Chakrit Yamnarm. For the longest time, I “hated” Chakrit, even now it is such a strong word. It stemmed from the movie he filmed in 1998 with Tata Young, O-Negative. It didn’t occur to me at the time that he must have been one hell of an actor to invoke such a negative emotion from me, I was very immature at the time and vowed that I will never watch another one of his films again and will detest him forever. I never understood years later why so many Thai lakorn fans are so enthralled with him.

Posted on March 29, 2011

Buckle your seatbelts because Wayupak Montra will take you on a scary ride! What a way to finish up 4 Hua Jai Hang Khun Khao series. This final showdown of the Adisuan quadruplets does not disappoint, we have enchantments, black magic, love and lots of wine. Be sure to “tum boon” more frequently so the God that protects your land has enough power to secure your properties, also, if you don’t believe in black magic or enchantments, don’t underestimate it. Alas, with these in mind, you are now prepared to watch the last story of 4 Hearts of the Mountain.

Wayupak Adisuan (Lom) is the owner of Sailom Vineyard and the renowned playboy. He changes girlfriends more frequently than he changes his underwear. However, he treats woman with respect and adores the ground they walk on. Except for a particular female who rubbed him the wrong way from their first encounter, Thichakorn (Kati) who has an assignment to do research of the wine industry to see if it will inspire her to write her next romance novel. Aside from her talented writing abilities, Thichakorn also has sixth sense: she can communicate with the Gods as well as see ghosts. This unique ability forces her closer to Wayupak against her will when she notices that he is being pursued by an evil ghost and sorcerer. Wayupak does not believe in the world of ghosts and magic and finds Thichakorn annoying, crazy and meddlesome. We see the attempts of Thichakorn trying to protect Wayupak and make him understand that he is being troubled and enchanted. What will it take to convince Wayupak of this black magic? Will he believe Thichakorn before it’s too late? How will this soul mate find their way back to each other?

Pathapee Leh Rak

lovefia

Posted on March 28, 2011

Pathapee Leh Rak tells the story of the oldest Adisuan quadruplets, Pathapee (Din) who is too smart for his own good. If you are a fan of Thai lakorn which features pr’ek who knows what he wants, intelligent and a man who others cannot fool, then this lakorn is for you. Sounds almost too perfect right? Not only does Pathapee encompasses these endearing, sought after qualities in a pr’ek, he is also tall, handsome and completely adorable at the same time.

Owner and operator of a successful resort, Tararin, Pathapee has many neighboring competition that will do anything to overthrow his highly popular, award winning resort. The secret behind its successes is simple; every one of the employees at the resort treats it like it is their own. Yet the competitors are determined that the owner has something to hide and they think that by revealing it, they will beat him. Among the competition and the obsession to be Thailand’s #1 resort, Pathapee keeps a keen eye and nothing surpasses his sharp observation, including Cha-Em who becomes employed at Tararin in order to reveal a secret to shutdown the resort. Just remember, if Pathapee doesn’t want something to happen, it doesn’t happen. And the opposite is true.

Flu week/ The Week Ahead

lovefia

Posted on March 26, 2011

Catching the flu can only have one perk: free time. Although I should be spending my free time sleeping and healing, I watched the third and fourth installment of 4 Hua Jai Hang Khon Khao: Pattapee Leh Rak and Wayupak Montra. I found both stories to be wonderful in their own ways and it was great to finally say that I’ve seen all four stories about the Adisuan quadruplets! So for this upcoming week, I will have reviews written for both lakorns. Stay tune!

Slow week ahead

My husband is back in town! Lakorn viewings will be sporadic at best but I’ll be posting random topics here and there this week. Besides, I’m caught up on Aum Atichart’s Lakorns and awaiting Roy Mai to come out. That is going to put me on a lull for now, perhaps I should tune in to other pr’eks movies? At this time no other pr’ek is as fascinating to me as P’Aum. I saw a new YouTube video of Nat and Aum and they are so adorable- screw the age difference! They seem happy together and they never fight! Is that normal? Good luck to this wonderful couple.

I’ve been tuning into Khuntoria (why is it that I haven’t posted anything regarding this adorable make believe couple?) oh right, because I’ve been too busy posting P’Aums lakorn reviews. This past weekend’s episode hasn’t been subbed yet but I saw the raw footage, can’t wait to understand what they’re saying!

We Got Married is a Korean Reality Show focused on pairing up celebs in a make believe marriage. 2pm Nichkhun and F(x) Victoria are my favorite couple in the show simply because they are the international, “romantic” and adorable couple. Nichkhun (pronounced ni-cha-khun) is Thai and Victoria is Chinese. Combined they are a culturally powerful couple!

Welcome to random topic week!

Nakak Dok Son Klin

lovefia

Posted on March 17, 2011

One of the lesser dramatic roles for Aum Atichart, but a much needed reprieve after Botan Gleep Sudtai and Borisat Bumbat Kaen which earned him best actor two consecutive times.

In Nakak Dok Son Klin, Aum plays Saenpoom, a playboy and carefree rich man who returns to Thailand after the death of his father. He is portrayed as a naive and irresponsible person who has no interest in pursuing his father’s business. Needless to say that he doesn’t take anything seriously.

The conflict in the lakorn occurs when Saenpoom’s stepmom Maleewan and his fathers best friend Sagat, contrived to take over his fortune. Pah Kai Saeng, his aunt and only living relative, has always been aware of their conniving nature and is determined to block their attempts to eliminate Saenpoom.

Dao Long Fah (The Lost Star)

lovefia

Posted on March 16, 2011

Dao Long Fah is a lakorn based on Namwan who is an indulgent and spoiled child: the product of a bad divorce. She is a selfish and mean spirited individual. Her behavior is encouraged and condoned by her mother and two aunts who are protective and obsessive about her. She has a poor relationship with her father due to her mother’s insistent defamation of him. In Namwan’s eyes, her father left her and her mother for another woman. Namwan’s purpose in life is to make other people’s lives miserable and hurt the people who hurt her. If she gets wind that a couple is happy or the perfect family, she wants to destroy it. As Namwan got older, she tested out a theory about married men. When given the right encouragement from an attractive woman, will they leave their families?

Dom grew up in the same household as Namwan, he is the respected grandson of the maid that has been with the family for a long time. He is the only person (in exception to her grandmother) who does not give her what she wants. This caused a competitiveness within Namwan because she expects everyone to bend to her will. Because of her jealous and spiteful nature, she picks on Dom and constantly tries to best him. Dom on the other hand, knows the nature of Namwan and refuses to give in. We see fights and arguments between the two as they go from kids to adults. The two although constantly fights, has amazing chemistry. Against his better judgments, Dom finds himself meddling in her personal problems. Deep down we know that he cares about her, how could he not? They grew up together and during her worse times, he is always there for her. He is hopeful that her narcissistic ways will improve when she gets older, but she continues to prove him wrong. What will it take for Namwan to see that her ways is destructive?

Botan Gleep Sudtai (The Last Peony Petal)

lovefia

Posted on March 15, 2011

A good lakorn has interesting plots and relatable characters. But a fantastic lakorn invokes profound emotions within the viewers, allowing the viewers to finish the lakorn with a deep meaning of life that stays with them. I was left learning and feeling more than when I started the lakorn, and Botan Gleep Sudtai(The Last Peony Petal) starring Aum Atichart and Aff Taksaorn did this very thing.

Set in the chaos of the world wars, two Chinese families immigrated to Thailand and settled in the Chinese neighborhood of Yaowaraj. Ah-Cheng’s family has three sons and theoretically should be very successful and lucky according to the Chinese way of thinking. However, Ah-Cheng is prejudiced against his youngest son Ah-Joo, because he was conceived during their tough period and proclaimed Ah-Joo his cursed son. In his minds eyes, everything Ah-Joo does is wrong. Ah-Cheng then openly favors his two oldest sons Ah-Jo and Ah-Jiw allowing them advantages and money over Ah-Joo. The family owned a “Khao Mun Gai” (Steamed chicken with rice) shop and because Ah-Cheng thinks that Ah-Joo is inferior in fortune and intelligence to his older brothers, Ah-Joo must do all of the work in the shop so he will have a way to earn his living. Fortunately, he finds an ally in a boy named Ah-Nai who came to live with them and they develop friendship and loyalty.

The Week Ahead

lovefia

Posted on March 13, 2011

There seem to be a trend lately, my viewing of lakorns that has specific themes as well as the events that are occurring across the world. Tragic. It is as if the heavens are trying to send us a message. Appreciate what you have because it can be taken away from you in a second. My heart goes out to the people in Japan who are devastated by the earthquake and tsunami.

This week’s project include a review for Dao Long Fah (Aum Atichart + Cherry) and Botan Gleep Sutai (Aum Atichart + Aff). Both stories has significant values about life that I will recap and share this week. I will also tune into Nakak Dok Son Klin, so the review will shortly follow.

Busy week ahead, looking forward to it!

Koo Deud (The Furious Duo)

lovefia

Posted on March 10, 2011

I recommend watching this lakorn with a box of tissues. You will be touched by the characters, events and relationships in Koo Deud, starring Por Nattawut Skidjai, Aum Atichart Chumnanont and Benz Ponchita NaSonglah as Dam, Khao and Keo.

Dam and Khao were raised in a temple after they were abandoned at a young age. Long Phor, the attending monk raised them to love each other as brothers. However, as their names indicated, they are as different in temperament and character as black and white, ying and yang, light and darkness, night and day. The differences soon drew them apart spurred by Khao’s jealousy of Dam. He feels that his own value and importance is being taken away from him; the very love from Long Phor and Keo.
