Chakrit Yamnarm (ชาคริต แย้มนาม) – The Enigmatic and Charasmatic Actor
I used to be a lot like Siriyakorn in my short story “Give Me One Good Reason” in that I had a tendency to judge a person’s worth before I get to know them. It was up to that person to prove me wrong. In this case, I’m talking about Chakrit Yamnarm. For the longest time, I “hated” Chakrit, even now it is such a strong word. It stemmed from the movie he filmed in 1998 with Tata Young, O-Negative. It didn’t occur to me at the time that he must have been one hell of an actor to invoke such a negative emotion from me, I was very immature at the time and vowed that I will never watch another one of his films again and will detest him forever. I never understood years later why so many Thai lakorn fans are so enthralled with him.
I recently had a large serving of the humble pie. Eating your own words never tasted so good. What did it for me? What was responsible for my change of heart for Chakrit? Sapai Glad Peun Tiang, that’s what, followed by Kadee Ded Hed Hang Rak where he continued to pleasantly surprise me. Talk about proving me wrong..
A Little Background on Chakrit
A 32 year old Thai heartthrob (can I say across the globe?) was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1978. He was educated in several international preparatory schools in Bangkok before studying abroad in New Zealand and later in the US where he earned his undergrad degree. This explains his fluency in English and intellectual demeanor. Chakrit is featured on the silver screen and small tv screens across the country, most notably O-Negative, Bangkok Dangerous and various lakorns.
An Enigma
However, partly because I’m not in the forefront of the Thai entertainment news and partly because I live in the US, Chakrit remains as an enigma to me. There is not a lot of information on the internet regarding his family: what does his parents do? Does he have any siblings? Most of what I found has the same information that can be found on Wikipedia. Unfortunately the “other” news stem from Thai entertainment gossip and paparazzi’s fabrications- which I turn the other cheek. It is hard to believe anything you read nowadays. Perhaps he can remain as an enigma to me, it gives off an air of mysteriousness.
Conclusion
Despite what I read on the internet, one conclusion is clear, Chakrit Yamnarm is a charasmatic, handsome and incredibly gifted individual. He just earned another devoted fan. Keep up the fantastic work and stay strong. The entertainment world is a fickle bitch.

I am so glad you have converted. I am not sure if you have had the pleasure of watching his 2002 lakorn “BanBajatorn”…or the Enchanted Bed, personally my favorite of Chakrit’s. And you are correct on saying it never tasted so good to eat your own word, I was proven wrong twice by Por and Joy S…I hated Por and hated Joy S., now I adore Por and adore Joy S. as well, though I am a little late on Joy S. as I converted a bit late, now she’s hardly in the industry…
Hi Kashie!
No, I have not had the pleasure to watch that particular lakorn, but will add it to my must watch list, thank you for the referral. Chakrit is one of the most natural and gifted actor and by that I mean he is just comfortable and completely not awkward onscreen.
Which Por are we referring to, Por Nattawut? Because he is one of my favorite actors too!
Joy S, ah.. I love so many of her lakorns but mostly: Ruk Diow Korng Jenjira and Nang Ay. Sadly she isn’t acting as much as she used to, I suppose it is the way of the world. Older n’eks must move aside for newer, more beautiful, younger and dare I say it, “look kreung” n’eks. However there are some actresses who managed to retain their spots: Ann T, Janie T, Aum P, Noon W. Aom P, Kob S, Cherry K, Kat E, etc.. feel free to chime in, I named ones who I follow on a normal basis. I suppose similar things can be said about pr’eks. But it’s not to say that newer lakorn actors and actresses are less talented, just that it is competitive in the world of Thai entertainment industry.
Thank you for taking the time to comment 🙂
Fia
Wow! Did you mention Ruk Diew Kong Jenjira? LOVE that lakorn. I have the OST soundtrack on cassette tape! LOL I got it while I was in Thailand in the 90s. I had the biggest crush on Willy back then. I was able to meet him, his sister, and Yelly in person back in 2002 in Phuket at an event. His uncle and my dad belong to the same association here in the states. When I heard he was going to make an appearance, I made sure to get time off work to attend. He’s super tall and thinner than I expected. Lol
Lol I used to have a big crush on Willy as well- I’ve seen every one of his lakorns! I love him and Mew, Ann and even Joy as a couple. I wish I can go down memory lane by rewatching RDKJ again.. But no idea if it is on the web. I really miss the old lakorns!
It’s on YouTube, but grainy. I saw it on VHS back in the day. Did you know Lalita (Mew) is going to be in a lakorn with Chakrit? 🙂
Yes.. I heard she’s going to be his potential mother in law. I’m a little sad that lately Chakrit’s lakorns aren’t so great. I hope this one with Mew will make up for it.
I haven’t watched a lakorn with Chakrit in it. The only movies I’ve seen him in were Bangkok Dangerous and Yaowarat. I watched the former on a flight to Thailand and thought he was cute. Then it dawned on me why he looked familiar. Lol his lakorn with Anne is on my must see list for a while now…only because I’ve been a big fan of Anne since seeing her in The Letter ages ago.
Can’t wait to see Mew again. Loved her in Prasad Mueud, Lom Padt Huan (err the one with jetrin filmed in Europe), and Fai Thang See (love the OST for that lakorn too). 🙂
I had followed a few of his lakorns well still am, but have not yet converted to a fan. There’s something about his acting that irritates me.
As you can tell, it took some time for his acting to warm up to me lol. He hasn’t been playing anything remarkable lately… hopefully that will change soon.
