Double Espresso Coffee Talk: “Atong: The Obedient Middle Child” by Greta

lovefia

Posted on January 10, 2020

80% of Atong’s script in the show probably has him saying, “Yes, Ma.”

Hello folks! We’re here again for another double espresso coffee talk, for Krong Karm (“Cage of Karma”), otherwise known by its English title, “Repercussion”. Again, I thank P’Fia for allowing me to write this piece for her blog even before I finish Nueng Dao Fah Diew (I promise to go back to that soon!) Krong Karm or Repercussion was a finalist in the Asian Academy Creative Awards for Best Drama of 2019. For those who are curious as to why it got nominated, I hope this Double Espresso Coffee talk would not only keep you awake but likewise let you have a glimpse of the lakorn.

Double Espresso Coffee Talk: “Chai: The Blessed Eldest Child” by Greta

lovefia

Posted on December 1, 2019

He was born to greatness, but ultimately, his actions (or lack thereof) caused him to be overshadowed for the most part of the lakorn.

Hello folks! Today, I’m putting the Nueng Dao Fah Diew Coffee talk on hold in order to discuss Krong Karm (“Cage of Karma”) which is currently marketed through it’s international title “Repercussions”. Krong Karm is Thailand’s entry for the title of Best Drama Series of 2019 at the Asian Academy Creative Awards, which shall be held on December 6 at Singapore. As I’ve said before, Krong Karm isn’t your typical drama and it is indeed worth a watch. Hopefully with this review, I could help those who have watched it, and those who are yet to watch it, appreciate it and realize why it has been nominated for a prestigious award in the first place.

NDFD Episode 10: Greta’s Babble on James Ji’s (Superb) Acting Skills

lovefia

Posted on November 4, 2019

Just to put things into perspective: This is James Ji. You won’t see him in Episode 10 of NDFD.

So today, I don’t think we can call this a coffee talk. Readers, be warned. This is actually my fangirling piece for this whole series. I will try my best not to spaz and be as objective as possible (operative word is “try”). But – come on. Let’s call a spade a spade. Episode 10 of Nueng Dao Fah Diew (One Land, One Sky) showcases James Ji’s acting skills and shows how far he’s improved since his first lakorn.

NDFD Episode 9: Secrets by Greta

Posted on August 13, 2019

“Listen, do you want to know a secret? Do you promise not to tell….? Closer, let me whisper in your ear. Say the words you long to hear…. I’m in love with you!” – the Beatles

Hello everybody! Sorry again for the delay. Actually, we’re nearing the tear-jerking episode of Nueng Dao Fah Diew (One Land, One Sky) and that’s partly the reason why I’ve been really slow with this. But don’t worry, let’s stick together and see the tears through! Without further ado, I give you, Episode 9. (Episode 10-11 in the reuploaded version)

NDFD Episode 7 and 8: Khanthong and Khun Elephant by Greta

lovefia

Posted on June 24, 2019

These three looks sum up episodes 7 and 8. Oh boy. Aok Pra Sri Khanthin sure got busy!

Hello folks! I’m sorry it took me forever to churn this out again. For one thing, Nueng Dao Fah Deaw (One Land One Sky) is getting shown in Thailand again, in the afternoon slot. I don’t know how much of the story was cut from the reuploaded versions in YouTube, however, this recap will still feature the original run. For those who haven’t seen the series yet, you can check it out at JamesjiFansub- just search the videos and you’ll find it there. JamesJiFansub (aka Jirayuhome Drama) likewise retimed and uploaded the English subs in the Ch3 Thailand Official YouTube Channel so you might want to check that one out too.

Without further ado, here’s Episode 7. I’ve decided to discuss this with Episode 8 because Episode 7 is actually just three parts long, compared to the usual nine parts in the original run. This was because at the time of airing, Episode 7 was shown in conjunction with the volleyball tournament where Thailand had been competing. Hence, episode 7 can actually be thought of what was later on shown to be as episode 8.

Krong Karm: Entering the Cage by Greta

Posted on May 12, 2019

It’s time to enter the Cage of Karma, unless you’ve realized you’re trapped inside already to begin with.

Hello everybody! Today, I’m not here to do a shameless plug of Krong Karm (Cage of Karma) but I opted to talk fully about it instead. This lakorn was shown late February this year and has since started a hype among Thai fans. As the show ended and the subs of the final episodes had already been uploaded, I think it’s best to give a full overview of the plot in order to let those who haven’t seen it have a glimpse and hopefully catch up or binge watch the show now that it’s over.

Spring Check-In/Hu Ge Tour

lovefia

Posted on May 1, 2019

Hello Dear Readers!

Spring is in full sprint. I hope everyone is doing well.

I have been neglectful with my writing lately. In the last couple of months, with lakorn prospects looking bleak – since I was only watching Krong Kam (when usually I balance a few lakorns at a time) – I’ve relegated myself to Twitter because it matches the pace of my lifestyle (which is craziness and all over the place!). Twitter allows for quick thoughts and commentaries, and makes it easy to just post a screencap. While that is fun, it doesn’t allow me to edit or really think about the lakorn as a whole. Having said that, I probably won’t be doing the traditional full recaps on the blog, we will reserve this site for reviews, impressions and things I write when I have time to sit down and think.

NDFD Episode 6: The Kiss by Greta

lovefia

Posted on April 18, 2019

Hey, for a guy pretending to be a eunuch, a kiss less than halfway through the lakorn isn’t so bad!

Hello folks! First of all, belated Happy Songkran to everyone. I was supposed to churn this out on Songkran because this episode is about another Thai Festival, i.e the Loy Krathong, but … well… *shameless plugging part 2* Guys! Don’t forget to watch Krong Karm at CH3Thailand Official’s YouTube Channel! As for the coffee talk for that, you’ll have to wait for a while. *sweatdrop* But for now, here’s the coffee talk for Nueng Dao Fah Diew (One Land One Sky) Episode 6.

First Look: Rak Jang Aoey

lovefia

Posted on March 25, 2019

Rak Jang Aoey is the newest mid-week primetime romcom offering from Channel 3, produced by Metha Lae Mahaniyom and starring our lovely Taew Natapohn. What’s unique about this show is that it’s not a remake of other lakorns or based off a popular book, it’s an original script from the dynamic duo husband and wife Nok (Chatchai and Sinjai). I have enjoyed two of their directorial offerings, Tawan Deard and Khunchai Ronnapee, so let’s hope this is a third one. Rak Jang Aoey means “love you very much” with the nang ek’s name “Aoey” thrown in for a play on word. Taew portrays a spoiled character, Doctor Pailin or Doctor Aoey, who thinks she is perfect but admittedly has no idea what perfection looks like. Taew has played divas before, remember Meunchanok in Game Sanaeha, and Namfon in Plerng Toranong? They were brats, but we kinda enjoyed them anyway. Doctor Aoey brings about a different challenge for Taew, in that she hasn’t played a medical professional before, but she must also pull off a drama queen with good comedic timing. I can’t imagine a better actor for that.
