Alex and Mint Scenes in Ep5 Miracle of Love

lovefia

Posted on November 9, 2011

I would recommend that you watch the whole episode because it is just darling. Thut is looking more attractive as a character and he and Kim are not too shabby together. However, for those (like me) who are crazy about Paat and Nammon, ep5 continues to stir the pot! This time around it took forever creating this video, I’m using a new software… which entails more time to understand it and then to sub it. Bear with me.

So where is the real Pranom?

lovefia

Posted on November 7, 2011

Rak Pathiharn (Miracle of Love) Ep4

Paat asks Nichamon this question upon catching her on her lies, and voicing the concern everyone must be curious about. From episode 1, this notorious Pranom has yet to surface and like Paat says, Nichamon better be careful because the real Pranom may decide that she wants her job back.

Paat found Nichamon, whom he surmised as the person he met at the airport because of his photographic memory, and whisked her to his restaurant to quiz her on who she really is. As they sit on the outdoor patio, Nichamon divulged as much as she was willing to as no one else has caught her red handed as Paat did: she was born in Thailand, moved abroad with her parents at a young age, now that her parents are dead, she’s back to Thailand to reconnect with her parent’s roots- only to find out that she truly belonged in Sydney so she was willing to pretend to be Pranom until she saved up enough money to go “home.”

What she didn’t tell Paat is that just a moment ago, before she walked aimlessly along the roads, she had overheard information that will break any granddaughter’s heart.

Game Rai Game Rak and Superstition

lovefia

Posted on November 7, 2011

I’m not the most superstitious person you’ll ever meet, but growing up in a Buddhist family and culture, superstition is something I don’t underestimate or dally with. For instance when a monk told me not to go near the beach or water in 2007, I steered clear-I prefer not to tempt fate by doing things to spite it. Or to eat food prepared for the monks prior to them having eaten it. However when it comes to taboo things like Friday the 13th or black cats crossing my path, I take it in stride.

So it doesn’t surprise me when superstitions or old wives tales appear more often than not in lakorns, as lakorns depict the culture and beliefs of the production team. In many lakorns I tend to shake my head by its attempts. In this weekend’s episodes of Game Rai Game Rak however, I learned that when used effectively, superstition could set a tone for what’s to come in a lakorn. And invariably, create chills and goose bumps among its viewers.

Rak Mai Mee Wan Tai (Love Never Dies) Review

lovefia

Posted on November 5, 2011

When watching Love Never Dies, one must put aside expectations and focus on the one key factor that the director does so well: pairing real life ex lovers as onscreen beaus. It is daring, risky but ultimately brilliant. The attraction for Love Never Dies lies solely on the chemistry between Traipoom, the 400 yr old blood drinking man and Plaichat, his young fearless employee, whose characters are played by the renowned Dome Pakorn Lum and his former girlfriend Ploy Chermarn Boonyasak. Preferring to think of this drama as a romance drama first, then setting in the backdrop of blood sucking vampires second, my plot-induced mind can make way for my romantic heart. Because trust me, you’ll be able to enjoy it so much more.

Set in modern day Thailand, Traipoom is determined to honor his dead father’s request by finding 117 Ming dynasty antiques and returning them to its original spot, upon which, the 400 yr old curse of immortality and drinking red internal bodily fluid will end. The conflict of the story involves Traipoom’s fellow blood sucking vampires and his extended family members who rather enjoy their immortality, thank you very much, and will do everything in their power to stop him. Traipoom finds help in locating the remaining 7 items with Plaichat, a young and fearless mortal, who specializes in the discovery and preservation of antiques. Unexpectedly on their journey to discover these antique treasures, Traipoom and Plaichat discover something much more dear: love.

The theme of their love is one of selfless, support, and giving, very much in connection to their character’s personality and traits. Traipoom is a strict gentleman; he is wise, generous, confident and sure of himself. He despises drinking blood in order to survive and prefers to keep to himself. But most importantly, he is afraid to love anyone for fear of outliving them. He believes that watching the people he cares about being buried before his eyes is hard enough as it is, but to love and to lose someone would be unbearable. He does not wish his eternal life on anyone. Then comes Plaichat, who is the polar opposite: she is vibrant, lively, and clumsy and wears her heart on her sleeves. She prefers to talk to fill in the void and enjoys spending her time reviving and showcasing antiques. When brought together, they truly supplement each other.

Love Never Dies is a lesson attempted to weave throughout this lakorn. Traipoom learns that the feeling of truly loving someone does not die when the person dies. Plaichat discovers that when in the presence of one she loves, she will live like there’s no tomorrow. All profound themes in theory, however in development, not so astounding. The plot itself does not inspire profound discoveries; we have vampire showdown with fangs baring, lame subplots- with even lamer plot resolution- and some useless characters. I am also thoroughly disappointed by the idea behind the ending, although I am thrilled for their happily ever after. With that being said, what we can take away from their love story is their blind faith in each other, their brief couple’s dispute (as in one), and the readiness to go to bat for each other. To me, that is the most attractive part of the storyline.

And then there’s Dome. It would be stupid to talk about Love Never Dies and not talk about Dome’s hotness. Apparently I’m not alone in fangirling this particularly hot (or J’s term hothothot) male specimen. Dome as Traipoom is buzzing all over Thailand and other parts of the world, especially how fans want him to bite them. It is not possible to watch any one of his scenes and not drool, young, old and gay alike. Which perhaps aid in overlooking the simple fact that this is his debut drama and his acting still requires some work. It is a good thing indeed that he’s portraying a vampire- one that is brooding, emotionless and stiff.

So if you like to ogle the main guy- as well as several handsome vampires (there are hordes of them)- enjoy an almost ideal relationship between the pra’nangs, see their sparks fly, and participate in many screech worthy scenes, then this lakorn is for you. As for me, if Traipoom keeps checking up on Plai to make sure she is alright, looking at her so directly like he wants to have her for breakfast, carrying her in his arms, and being such a gentle, trustworthy pr’ek, I’m going to die. And to reserve the three little words and a delicious hug and kiss for the end. *Swoon*

FAQs regarding Love Never Dies:

  • Ch.3 lakorn, aired on March 7, 2011.
  • Both “Rak Ter Pai Talod Gal” (Love you forever) and “Ja Pen Ter Dai Reu Plao” (Can it be you?) were written and sung by Dome. He told the producer that he’d like to write songs for the lakorn that he plays in.
  • Ploy knew she was going to play in Love Never Dies with Dome but did not tell him. He found out later– it looks like he was thrilled! (Ratree Samosorn)
  • They broke up in 2008 (DirtiLaundry)
  • Ploy is currently happily dating Navin Tar. I know this doesn’t have anything to do with Love Never Dies, but Navin is not threatened by Ploy in a lakorn with Dome.
  • Dome recently broke up with his “friend.” (DirtiLaundry)

Rekindle An Old Friendship

A speculation on Paat and Nammon’s relationship thus far in Miracle of Love

Paat and Nammon grew up in the vast farming province of Chiang Rai. They played together since they were children but drifted apart after Paat’s father’s death, which ignited a feud between their two farms. Nammon, convinced that it was all a misunderstanding, still holds a soft spot for Paat as she reaches her young adolescent age. She finds herself determined to join his club for the simple fact that his rejection fueled her stubborn nature. Deep down she hopes that things can go back to the way they used to be when they were kids. Nammon does everything to get into his “good graces,” prove to him that she is worthwhile and at the same time still remain intact with her integrity. Paat on the other hand doesn’t fully understand their family feud but he stays away from her anyway, on the principal that their family don’t get along. His relationship with his brother is annoyance at best and lack of trust at its worst, the older man does not see who he really is, he is caught up on his own assumptions and views about his younger brother. When Thut prohibited Paat to have any association with Nammon, Paat decided to go against his brother’s command and allow Nammon in his life- at least that’s what he wants Thut to think. Little did Paat know that being closer to her again and seeing her stubborn yet valiant ways, may make him want to date her for real.

Paat does not realize that out of everyone in his life, Nammon has a true understanding of his character. She says to Panom (her housekeeper) that when Paat is at school, he is like an entirely different person. Gone are the misconception of a guy who doesn’t much care for anything. Paat takes his club seriously and does well in school. He just doesn’t correct what people think of him. Can Paat keep his brother from stopping any and all possible relationship with Nammon? Will making their relationship work means patching up a misunderstanding that went bad? Perhaps by uncovering the truth behind the feud, it will ease the neighborly drama.

Here goes nothing..

lovefia

Posted on November 2, 2011

I have a confession. My heart is not in this lakorn- I’m only watching for Alex and Mint scenes and it wouldn’t be fair to fans of “Rak Patiharn” to have such a bias recap every week. Therefore, I will not be recapping each episode. I’m not in the mood for average actors and shaky plots at this point, I’m merely watching this because of the cuteness between Alex and Mint. Call me lame. Even their storyline is not what you would call stellar, but they make it up with uber cuteness and great chemistry. So there, I got it off my chest.

I came to this realization when I wanted to FF a lot of the scenes (and I couldn’t because I was watching it live) When Mart and Kim came out, I was barely paying attention. I was either snacking, replying to comments or doing dishes. I have my priorities. I will continue to eng sub Alex-Mint only scenes. I’m not sure if this is any indication but even channel 3’s website has full synopsis all the way up to episode 5. We’re only up to episode 3 mind you.. but no worries, Miracle of Love is being subbed at Viki and please find yourself there if you’d like to watch this lakorn in full eng sub.

Miracle of Love Ep 2 Recap

lovefia

Posted on October 31, 2011

Conclusion for episode 2 of Rak Pathiharn: can we have more of Alex and Mint please? I know they’re not the main characters, but still…

Ok I’ll stop pouting and give you the recap.

Starting where episode one left off, episode two has Paat questioning Nicha (Thut’s ex) on whether the Nareusorn were actually responsible for his father’s death. We get a flashback to when their father was still alive. He signed a document with great reluctance, the neighbor (Nam-mon’s dad) said it was the only way out. Thut comes in time to see the older man leaving his house. When he questioned his father if anything was wrong, his father responded with Thut’s greatest fear. Thut has to come back to Thailand, look after the farm and his brother. His father regrets that he has to go back on his word- that Thut cannot study further- and begs him to give up his dreams. We have no idea what the document entails.

The scene of his father’s death flashed before us. From that moment on, Thut blamed the Nareusorn for his family’s mishap. He thinks that they are responsible for swindling the money from his dad. His hatred for them stemmed from that time. Nicha tells Paat that the cops speculated that his father’s death was not an accident- they think that he intended to kill himself.

The Week Ahead

lovefia

Posted on October 31, 2011

Today marks the end of October, so Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it. Happy Monday as well. The past week went by in a blur- it was quite the busy week what with all of the recaps, postings, video and plain fangirling by yours truly.

What can you expect this week?

Monday– Recap of Rak Patiharn (ep2)

Tuesday– Recap of Rak Patiharn (ep3)

Between Tuesday and Wednesday I will have the video of Alex-Mint only scenes available. Oh and by the way, if you want full eng sub, there is a viki channel, I also see my synopsis there- ha, I’m flattered.. go here to watch: Miracle of Love.

Thursday-hopefully I would be done with Love Never Dies with the delicious Dome Pakorn Lum and Ploy Chermane, and have a review ready. Did you know that I had the biggest crush on Dome prior to his scandal many years ago? (Back in the day when Dome was a spiky haired, fresh face teenager, that’s why he’s in a lot of my old fanfics.) Don’t ask me why I haven’t seen Love Never Dies yet- because I was busy and I was stupid- but it turns out, I’m loving Dome again.

Friday-Sunday– thoughts on GRGR. I may not do daily recaps of GRGR on the weekend, just featuring important events that you may need to know..

Obviously you don’t have to stop by everyday- but it is so great that you do- if you’re anticipating any of the projects above, feel free to find yourself on my blog during those scheduled postings. It is always nice to have a schedule even though sometimes circumstances makes it hard to maintain it- but I will do my best to stick to our course.
