Of Love Schemes and Evil Schemes – Ep 5 He’ll Get Over It

Posted on March 5, 2013

Excellent episode, moving our plot forward- X-Act certainly doesn’t waste any time. Although Chitsanu is an important character that drives the story- he’s actively grabbing the bulls by the horns and saying remember me! – while our boy Id sorta just wants her to move on with him and believes he’s all she needs, but there’s something to be said about the method in which you go about obtaining what you want. And in that regards, I’m on Id’s team all the way. Also, this episode is important in character (humble) building for Id, who needs to learn a thing or two about courting a woman and Korya, who believes her past is important but she also can’t just throw away her future. Bottom line, I’m so hooked.

Episode 5

In the previous episode Korya was intentionally hurt by Payia, and is currently being hospitalized for further observations. Id hasn’t learned the details of that mishap yet- that it wasn’t an accident- but he soon does and watching him get all bent out of shape on her behalf is pure pleasure.

Korya notices that he’s surfing the tv and that he looks bored, so she offers him to leave.

“You’re chasing me out?” he questions, as he plants a comfortable hip on her bed. “A clumsy girl like you? We’ll have to wait and see how you’ll fare without me.” Oh, but it’s so much more fun to watch her with you though.

“I’m not clumsy!”

“Not clumsy huh, then explain how you fell and hurt yourself then,” he challenges.

“I didn’t trip!” she defends herself, and then realizes that she has said too much.

Primed for protection, Id repeats,“What did you say?”

Of Love Schemes and Evil Schemes – What could go wrong? Ep 4

lovefia

Posted on March 4, 2013

Toomtam and Cherebelle. Their chemistry is off the walls. I’ve decided that the hottest kind of pr’eks are the ones with the brave, take no bullshit kind of attitude. He’s strong before everyone else yet weak when it comes to her. And Id, our hero from Love Scheme Evil Scheme, has it in spades.

Episode 4

In this episode, Korya is attending a cooking class with Khun Ying and Payia. Id assigns his devoted employee to attend as well, as a means to protect Korya. Good call, because Chitsanu was summoned by the grand aunt to inquire about the mysterious two Korya’s. The story that Payia gave did not match up: she told the cops that Korya lost her way, and told Chitsanu that when she woke from the car accident, Korya was already gone. The grand aunt escorts Chitsanu to the cooking class to confront the issue. His presence alarms both Payia and Korya, who claims that they don’t know each other, well Korya is forced to say it since Payia is pinching her arm. This angers Chitsanu and he grabs her roughly by the arms. Take it easy dude.

Screen Shot 2013-03-04 at 2.29.58 PM

The assistant peels Chitsanu away from Korya and rushes her out.

This did not sit well with Id, he’s pissed off that Chitsanu dares put his hands on her, but Korya explains to Id that he did it out of anger. Chitsanu appears to be frustrated that she couldn’t remember him. Id tells her not to defend the man and plays Sherlock in regards to the triangle (Korya-Payia-Chitsanu.) He suspects that if Chitsanu is so adamant that they know each other in the past, than why does Payia deny it? Why is she lying?

“I want you to hear my heart” – Translations of Pon Prom Onlaweng OST – Lakorn characters’ typical expectations

Screen Shot 2013-03-03 at 12.59.08 PM

“I want you to hear my heart” (อยากให้เธอได้ยินหัวใ- Yak Hai Ter Dai Yin Huajai) by Yes’Sir Featuring Film

Tormented throughout my heart every time we are near
But cannot reveal the truth, I can only retain it inside
Not certain of when you will understand my heart
I can only beg you to look into my eyes, look right in my eyes
Then you will understand, that the things you see,
the person you are looking at is hurting completely.

I want you to hear the sound from my heart, how much it loves you,
but it doesn’t know how to make you listen

I want you to hear every little feeling within my heart
That I love you, only you, but I don’t know how to say it.

How much longer will I have to endure for my heart to conceal these words, it cannot
Just search my mind and you will know how much I love you
I beg you to look into my eyes, look right in my eyes
Then you will understand, that the things you see,
the person you are looking at is
overthinking it so much.
*I want you to hear the sound from my heart, how much it loves you,
but it doesn’t know how to make you listen

I want you to hear every little feeling within my heart
That I love you, only you, but I don’t know how to say it.

**

Ah, such a great song to illustrate the tormented feelings that are occurring within our leading characters: Dr. Pathawee and Tanyong. But despite its beautiful ballad, it sets up an unfortunate expectation between two people. Think about it, the woman wants him to just hear the sound from her heart and then he should know that she loves him.. setting him up for failure. Successful relationships are built on communication. You can’t expect someone to just read your mind.. you have to tell them how you feel. Not only does this lakorn characters struggle with this notion, but take Dr. Pathawee and Tanyong out of the picture, and you have pretty much every lakorn pra’nangs out there begging for the other to know how they feel. LOL.

But despite it all, we lakorn fanatics just eat it up like there’s no tomorrow! Enjoy the songs while we wait for Friday!

“You’re Not Nong May” – Ep 12 Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Posted on March 3, 2013

The heart breaks a little more in episode 12 when Dr. Pathawee and Tanyong are confronted with difficult choices and crushing realizations. They both have to make life-altering decisions that will leave them reeling, and realizing the expense of getting what they want. Either way, it does not look like a win-win.

Screen Shot 2013-03-03 at 12.15.05 PM

The episode opens with Dr. Pathawee sitting in his office with deep consternation. The pieces of the puzzle are coming together as he remembers the first time his niece awakens from her accident. She was disoriented and had questioned where she was at and who she was. Another time she had brought up that what if she’s not experiencing a short-term memory loss, but if she is actually someone else. There was another time, shortly after the accident, he found her almost falling down the stairs again, as if intentional. She received straight A’s in school, she spoke French before and recently, she and Kru Bie were calling out Nong May’s name in the hospital. Every rationale adds up and Dr. Pathawee could not ignore the final conclusion. We see him posing this question to the void: “The person in her body is you, right Khun Tanyong?” OMG.

The Mood Changes – Ep 11 Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Posted on March 3, 2013

For a while Tanyong was getting comfortable being in Nong May’s body. The idea of returning to her real body had always been a desire, a wish, but a far-fetched idea. Uncle Wee was a great distraction, he gave her his utmost attention and she was starting to settle into this little world of Nong May’s. The monk used to advise that she should do the best that she can, in the situation that she’s in, and let the merits and fate take its course. So she follows this advice, patching up the marriage between Khun Pat and Khun Metee, and learning what it takes to be a grown up. Just when everything looks like they are going down the right path, she realizes her feelings for Uncle Wee and things just get all too uncomfortable for her. Hurt and insecure with his attention to another, and misunderstanding about his feelings, Tanyong finally decides that she wants out.

Episode 11 changes the tone of the lakorn into one of sad and seriousness.

Screen Shot 2013-03-03 at 2.10.00 AM

Staring at the couple (Dr. Pathawee and Dr. Neung) before her, Tanyong presses her hand to her heart, “that hurts,” she says. Having feelings for someone one sided is a hard thing to swallow.

But that knowledge soon changes.

Kru Bie has been noticing that Dr. Neung is hanging on to Dr. Pathawee too much so she asks Nawin if they were dating.

“Dr. Neung likes Dr. Wee for sure,” Nawin says, “but it’s difficult for Dr. Wee. He hasn’t forgotten that woman.”

“Which woman?” Kru Bie asks.

“Maybe I’ll Be Mad” –Ep 10 Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Posted on March 1, 2013

Although the dialogues between Tanyong and Uncle Wee are not all that complex and profound, the nuances and body language however, speaks volumes. After all, what kind of a conversation does one expect to achieve from one so little and young?

Grandma’s birthday party closed with a success. Tanyong is being sulky with her Uncle Wee because she’s jealous of his attention to Dr. Neung. Until Uncle Wee asks her to dance and made everything better. Tanyong’s life is more focused on the smaller scale problems these days. And just some attention from her favorite person, makes her day better.

Screen Shot 2013-03-01 at 7.10.29 PM

So she decides to test the waters about how he would handle the truth from her.

They are out by the pool, the night is growing older. She spots him from across the pool.

“Did you have fun today, Uncle Wee?” she asks.

He walks towards her and replies, “I did. I had a blast. And you Nong May?”

“I did too,” she replies hesitantly.

She didn’t know that her uncle is developing some serious suspicions about her maturity. At the end of the birthday party, she even sang a song in front of a bunch of strangers. Nawin mentions that it is as if she’s a professional.

Tanyong looks at Uncle Wee again and asks, “If someone lied to you, would you be mad?”

Mom-Daughter First Encounter – Ep 3 Love Scheme Evil Scheme

lovefia

Posted on February 28, 2013

They say the bond of blood is thick. Even separated by 20 years, when you meet someone who is inherently so similar to you, the way they walk, the way they talk, this forms an instant connection. Korya meets her birth mother, Khun Ying Noppa-Dara for the first time, but she has no idea that she’s looking at her mother.

Do try not to blink your eyes or breathe in this episode. You just might miss something. Everything is happening so quickly.

The Siwawongs’ are planning a celebratory gathering for Payia, to introduce her to the rest of the family and friendly community. The guest list is stemming with potential drama, we have Chitsanu who recently recovered from a successful eye surgery (so he’s no longer blind and now he’s obsessive about finding Korya,) and the neighbor is also invited, which is consisting of Id and family. We are going to pit the mouse in front of the cat.

Screen Shot 2013-02-28 at 8.08.34 PM

Id is desperate to take Korya with him to the party (which I’m sure he will kick himself afterward.) She tells him that there will only be hi-so people there so she has no interest in going.

“If you don’t go with me,” he threatens, “I must rape you.” What?!

She thinks he’s serious and jumps out of her seat in shock. “No you’re not!”

“So you’re not going?” he confirms with her again and takes a step forward.

“No!” Korya exclaims.

Id comes after her and manhandles her. When he dips down for a kiss, she finally agrees to go. He smiles smugly at her. “See it would be easier if you agree from the beginning,” he teases.

Our valiant hero? -Ep 2 Love Scheme Evil Scheme

lovefia

Posted on February 27, 2013

Dramatic or not, I’m digging the Id-Korya (Toomtam-Cherebelle) chemistry. After the accident, Id learns from his doctor buddy that Korya’s head injury did not come from the car accident. He believes that the people nearest and dearest to her had caused it. With this notion, Id decides to play his hero card. Since she’s amnesiac, he lies to her that she’s his girlfriend to keep her from harms way. Not only is he protecting her, but he wants to keep her close too, two birds with one stone. One valiant and the other, an act of self fulfilling. A man with complexity.

At the hospital Id has just finished telling his assistant why he is taking Korya home with him. Although his assistant has his reservations, he does what his boss tells him.

Korya is suspicious why she would even date someone like him (someone cocky, good looking and rich? Who wants to wait in line?) so she questions the assistant profusely until Id appears at the door and relieves his minion.

He tells her that she will be released from the hospital the following day.

Screen Shot 2013-02-27 at 9.59.10 PM

“Where is my home then?” Korya wants to know.

“You don’t have a home,” he replies and leans in, “there is only our home.”

“What do you mean I don’t have a home?” she’s starting to panic, thinking that it is another lie from him. “What crazy person doesn’t have a home? You’re lying to me right?” she pushes against his chest. “Go tell my parents to pick me up!”

She gets off the bed, and continues to push against him when he won’t let her go.

“I’m going home!” And they tug at each other roughly.

“Listen to me!” Id implores. When she won’t listen, he yells, “you don’t have a home- you don’t have a mom or dad! You’re an orphan, Korya!”

Theme Development in Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Posted on February 26, 2013

Tanyong never imagined that escaping her own world, with its magnanimous problems, will bring her into a little girl’s world with even bigger problems. This chaotic transition, this temporary diversion (or shall we say long vacation from her current self) is helping her view her own situation from a bird’s eyes view. Indeed just what the power above ordered, exactly what she needed. Through episode 8 and 9, we can see Tanyong realizing that even though it is easier said than done, forgiveness is the key to any relationship.

ppo3

Things are getting down to the wire and I can feel the final part of this series lurking from this weekend’s episodes.

First, Dr. Pathawee, despite his diligence in researching Tanyong’s unique case, which is requiring a medical miracle and divine intervention more than his experience and training allotted him, is also experiencing some disappointments in his unrequited romance. As we know, he is in love with his unconscious patient but he has recently discovered that her fiancé has reappeared and pronounced his devotion to his fiancée again. Witnessing the tender love from the man’s end, he thinks his chances are looking slim and he assumes that Tanyong and her fiancé are so much in love.

But he doesn’t know that fate has brought Tanyong’s soul to possess in his niece’s body, who is growing attached to him, falling ever so much in love with him. Destiny is funny like that, strikes you when you least expect it. Dr. Pathawee is slowly suspecting that his niece is not her normal self. Little things start to alert him to that, but one day, Nong May had awaited for him to return from work and she handed to him her report card, looking dismayed perhaps from the low score. Much to his surprise however, she had completely aced her finals. Uncle Wee looked perplexedly at his beloved niece not knowing whether he should be happy for her excellent work, or cry because this confirmed his recent suspicions.

My Darling Uncle Wee – Ep 7 Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Posted on February 22, 2013

Dr. Pathawee learns that at a certain point in his scientific, rational mind, he cannot continue using it to evaluate his increasingly strange niece. His original perception of her change in behavior and way of thinking is rationalized by the accident on the stairway. Her brain scans are normal, her physiology is normal, but psychologically, she’s 180 degrees from her normal self. Completely abnormal. In episode 7, Dr. Pathawee develops keen observations on Nong May, as the suspicions of her changed persona grows in the pit of his stomach. A wonderful, thoroughly enjoyable episode that not only moves the plot along, but offers some development in the romance department too.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Nawin uses a new tactic to gain Kru Bie’s (teacher Bie) attention, he asks Nong May for her help. Like a sappy, hopeless romantic, Nawin is falling madly, deeply in love with Kru Bie. He watches her teach her classroom from behind the glass window, as if a starving child looking longingly at a candy store. But this time around, Nawin is making leeway. His persistent attention to her, irritating presence, and relentless stalking is slowly paying off. Kru Bie, much to her chagrin, is noticing Nawin. There are aspects about him that she doesn’t know in which she suddenly finds appealing. Who could resist the charm and silly smile? Although she’s stubbornly resisting him, she’s slowly coming undone.

Tanyong’s chance of returning to her body is looking bleak. She has no idea what she needs to do, her best friend has no idea how to help her, and the monk’s advice is time- that she needed to do the best in her situation and allow good karma to carry her back- which is like answering without offering an answer at all. But it did make her feel better. I got goosebumps during the scene where she offered respect to the monk and he could see her spirit within the little girl’s body.
