lovefia

Posted on January 5, 2012

Ateam, a nickname for the beloved onscreen pair “Aum” Atichart and “Aff” Taksaorn, has reunited for their fourth lakorn installment titled Roy Mai (Silk Trace), where they gifted the fans with a tale of two forbidden love: one of a teacher (Rerin) and a restaurant owner (Suriya) that unequivocally tied to another tale of their past life, a princess (Maneerin) and prince (Siriwong) some 70 years ago. And Aff, as Rerin, must release the bond that tied the past to the present, in the form of an unfinished loom, in order to free a wandering spirit of her former betrothed as well as awaken her own dying spirit. The conflict lay in her foe, Bua Ngern who was determined to stop her. Ateam encountered…

Rak Mai Mee Wan Tai (Love Never Dies) Review

lovefia

Posted on November 5, 2011

When watching Love Never Dies, one must put aside expectations and focus on the one key factor that the director does so well: pairing real life ex lovers as onscreen beaus. It is daring, risky but ultimately brilliant. The attraction for Love Never Dies lies solely on the chemistry between Traipoom, the 400 yr old blood drinking man and Plaichat, his young fearless employee, whose characters are played by the renowned Dome Pakorn Lum and his former girlfriend Ploy Chermarn Boonyasak. Preferring to think of this drama as a romance drama first, then setting in the backdrop of blood sucking vampires second, my plot-induced mind can make way for my romantic heart. Because trust me, you’ll be able to enjoy it so much more.…

The premise of the story surrounds Plerngrit Chatiyotin (Mario Maurer) who lived a humble life in the fishing village of Ranong with his parents Pipat and Phongpeo for the better part of twenty years. Twenty years ago, Pipat was his mother’s right hand man, controlling the family business. But the moment he fell in love with a no name woman, Phongpeo, and was forbidden by his mother, Pipat left his fortune, family and hi-so life…

A Crazy Little Thing Called Love

lovefia

Posted on July 12, 2011

The premise of the story revolves around Nam (Pimchanok), a 14 year old girl who falls in love with her senior, Shone (Mario) and tries to do everything in her power to get his attention, whether it is looking prettier, smarter or more accomplished. It is based on a true story- everyone’s true story according to the director, albeit with an ideal twist. How many true stories about an ugly duckling trying to attract the high school heartthrob derives a happily ever after? Only in the ugly duckling’s dreams and that is why I adore this movie so much. It gives the viewers hope and a poignant lesson. And besides, who wants to watch a depressing story about the mundane of life anyway? Viewers…

Ruk Sorn Rode (Love’s Hidden Flavor)

lovefia

Posted on June 20, 2011

The nice thing about watching a lakorn is going where the actors and actresses take you. Based on their acting abilities, you forget any offenses that they have done outside of the tv screen. Such is the reality for me when I watch Pinky. At this point, I can aptly say that I don’t care what she has done or what type of a person she is (because rumors are rumors.) In the end, she is one amazing actress. Pinky is natural, photogenic and so easy to watch. Combined with Stephan’s tall good looks, Ruk Sorn Rode is an easily loved production. As I scan the internet for a cast list, I am surprised by the synopsis found on AsianFuse Wiki. If one searched…

Kah Kong Kon (A Person’s Value)

lovefia

Posted on June 14, 2011

A person’s value cannot be determined by their exterior possession of money, prestige or beauty, but it is determined by the goodness of that person’s heart and the person’s ability to do the right thing. This message is relayed throughout the lakorn by obstacles and challenges that our two main protagonists must endure to find their happy ending. Gluay (Noon Woranuch) is desperate for money, yet again, thanks to her gambling addict brother. She grew up in a farm and made ends meet by performing and teaching Thai traditional dances. Gluay is a proud, dutiful and strong woman. However she is faced with a jarring problem, her brother needed 10 million baht to pay off his gambling debt or else they will lose their…

Sapai Glai Peun Tiang

lovefia

Posted on April 4, 2011

Sapai Glai Peun Tiang is a romantic comedy starring Chakrit and Anne. There is something to be said for placing two professional actor and actress together for the first time: for one they put on great acting but most importantly, they have great chemistry! It is as if they have filmed a prior lakorn together. Without giving the entire storyline away, “Sapai Glai Peun Tiang” is about Lalin, a feisty cop who decides to take matters into her own hands when she finds out her sister is pregnant with a mystery man. After discovering that the family will not accept her sister, she decides to marry the younger son Jormtup so she can convince or force the family to accept her sister. Although the…
