Hello everybody! Today, I’m not here to do a shameless plug of Krong Karm (Cage of Karma) but I opted to talk fully about it instead. This lakorn was shown late February this year and has since started a hype among Thai fans. As the show ended and the subs of the final episodes had already been uploaded, I think it’s best to give a full overview of the plot in order to let those who haven’t seen it have a glimpse and hopefully catch up or binge watch the show now that it’s over.

Hello Dear Readers! Spring is in full sprint. I hope everyone is doing well. I have been neglectful with my writing lately. In the last couple of months, with lakorn prospects looking bleak – since I was only watching Krong Kam (when usually I balance a few lakorns at a time) – I’ve relegated myself to Twitter because it matches the pace of my lifestyle (which is craziness and all over the place!). Twitter allows for quick thoughts and commentaries, and makes it easy to just post a screencap. While that is fun, it doesn’t allow me to edit or really think about the lakorn as a whole. Rak Jang Aoey is the newest mid-week primetime romcom offering from Channel 3, produced by Metha Lae Mahaniyom and starring our lovely Taew Natapohn. What’s unique about this show is that it’s not a remake of other lakorns or based off a popular book, it’s an original script from the dynamic duo husband and wife Nok (Chatchai and Sinjai). I have enjoyed two of their directorial offerings, Tawan Deard and Khunchai Ronnapee, so let’s hope this is a third one. Rak Jang Aoey means “love you very much” with the nang ek’s name “Aoey” thrown in for a play on word. Taew portrays a spoiled character, Doctor Pailin or Doctor Aoey, who thinks she is perfect but admittedly has no idea what perfection looks…

In this episode, our characters step back by not only continuing to conceal their secrets, but also hiding their motives through tricks in order to get what they seek.
This evening lakorn from Channel 7 is pretty delightful, even if it’s about life, death and the afterlife. Pisat Hansa tells the story of Prat who mistakenly passes away after a traffic accident. You see it isn’t his time to go, but the Grim Reaper made a mistake and took his soul before his due time. This is an irreversible blunder but since Prat is a good person and has made many merits in life, the Grim Reaper gives him a second chance to live. Now that five episodes have already aired for Krong Kam, it is a good time as any to weigh in. Krong Kam is a lakorn about a mother and her daughter in law. It’s an unconventional, female protagonist lead storytelling that focuses on the flaws instead of the perfection, a lakorn that strives to show how choices will produce karmic affect, and also how terribly difficult it is to break out of a mold, once you’ve already been caged in. It is a mother of lakorns, so let’s discuss the story, as we know it so far.
