Ratree Luang “Love and Deception” – A Review

lovefia

Posted on September 30, 2022

Ratree Luang, also known as Love and Deception, is a lakorn that knows how to tell a good story. I mean, much of what makes a good show is that we are watching it at the right time for us. I appreciate the story more upon watching it in one fell swoop, instead of catching it live, because it resonated more deeply. The script is based on a novel called Mon Kammathep, which means Cupid’s Spell, which in all honestly, would have been another apt title for this lakorn. Novel adaptations are one of my favorite genres to watch because it means the story is well thought out and knows what it wants to tell us. Imagine that, there is a point to all…

Favorite Scene in Kharm See Than Dorn

lovefia

Posted on June 29, 2018

Is someone cutting onions in here? There is a particular scene in Kharm See Than Dorn that will be hard to beat throughout the rest of the show, for me it will go down as one of the scenes that I will remember this show by. As a side note, this show does get bogged down with different (irrelevant) side storylines, and if you’re not going to watch this show for that reason, this particular scene sums up the goal of the story.

Kharm See Than Dorn – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on June 21, 2018

Oh Pope. He wants to make us cry, doesn’t he? The opening of the show takes us into his character’s (Tiangwan) predicament perfectly: he’s standing on top of crashing waves of an ocean in South Africa, thinking back on his substance addiction days, the lowest of low in his life. It looked bad; he must have relapsed into addiction after promising never to do it again, and his girlfriend caught him. She broke up with him that day, and in a state of paranoia and under the drug’s influence – he envisioned cops chasing him – Tiangwan drives right into a little boy. His face gets blasted all over media outlets, but thankfully the boy survived and Tiangwan must have gotten admitted into rehab.…

Introducing Matupoom Hang Hua Jai

lovefia

Posted on May 29, 2018

Matupoom Hang Hua Jai (Motherland of My Heart) is the first installment of My Hero Series, Channel 3’s latest project featuring heroes that start out in a youth disciplinary center and are honed, trained and molded by the skilled Teacher Chantra into the best patriotic examples they can be. The series is spearheaded by Cholumpi Productions. Our first one is Techat or Ben (Boy Pakorn) who lives in California but hangs out with the wrong crowd. He witnesses the leader of the gang shooting someone point blank, which made him grow up in a blink of an eye. His girlfriend, Hope (cameo by Taya Rogers) suggests that he get out of dodge because the gang leader will stop at nothing to kill him. But…

Chippy and Great in Kon Lah Khop Fah – A Summary

lovefia

Posted on December 1, 2016

Chippy’s upcoming lakorn is like donning on her Tarntawan role again. Kon Lah Khop Fah plot reminds me a lot of Rang Tawan, though with a less PTSD type hero, which means less abuse towards our heroine. I’ll cheers to that any day.

Rang Tawan – Episode 14 Final

lovefia

Posted on August 3, 2016

Our midweek lakorn has come to a close. It’s not so much a revenge lakorn as it touted itself to be, because it’s really a story about a beast’s journey into a prince (so to speak). From an abandoned, abused childhood, and tough façade in order to rule over Rai Phu Tupdao, Suriyen transformed into a person who could feel again due to the love of Tarntawan and his nephew. Will the finale help us determine whether this man has indeed changed from the burning sun into a hopeful sunrise? Is the ending everything we hoped for? How did the whole story fare? Let’s just get to it!

Rang Tawan – Episode 13

lovefia

Posted on July 28, 2016

Whoops, I guess we’re not saying goodbye to this show yet. I honestly thought we’re ending with 13, I don’t know how or why we’re going to drag this out, since there’s not a lot of conflict we don’t already know about, but I guess there’s always more room for some angst. I hope the finale finale will give us some fangirl moments, but for now, Show works on setting up the climax and putting us literally on the edge of the cliff. Note: I guess I have more time to finish this recap! All done ~ enjoy 🙂

Rang Tawan – Episode 12

lovefia

Posted on July 27, 2016

It’s finale week! The truth comes out and another life is lost, however Show continues to explore trust as the central issue today. Even if evidence stares Tarntawan in the face, will she remain steadfast or buckle towards her bias? Should Suriyen act out like everyone anticipates him to or do something differently? You know what Einstein said: insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Shall we expect a crazy Beast or a changed man? Buckle your seatbelts everybody, it’s gonna be a rocky road before we close out this series.

Rang Tawan – Episode 11

lovefia

Posted on July 21, 2016

Show is slated to end with 13 episodes, which means finale week is right around the corner. Conflict is heightened as we close out episode 11, taking us into the climax. This episode sure gives us the tension, but I am disappointed that it went in the direction we can predict. But nonetheless, it still left me with the feels, and the inevitable fighting in Suriyen’s corner. Don’t ask me why I always end up taking the hero’s side. Because this journey of watching Suriyen grow and change is about eventually overcoming his dark side, fall in love with him, and then go to bat for him. If only our heroine falls in line with us. If anyone needs a hug in this Show,…

Rang Tawan – Episode 10

lovefia

Posted on July 20, 2016

When I think Show is going to take us to familiar places, they do something that pleasantly surprises me. If last week’s episodes are about Suriyen’s heart unraveling, this week’s episodes mark the moment Suriyen let’s go and allow himself to love freely and unabashedly. The thing that gets me though is that Tarntawan chooses to trust Suriyen completely and by doing so, it allows Suriyen to let the softer, more human side of him to come out. If he cries over his past love, smiles openly at Nong Phit, and find ways to make up for his past discretions with Tarntawan, I may just die. This one is sweet and funny, but also moves our story forward, because several things come to light.…
