The Mood Changes – Ep 11 Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Posted on March 3, 2013

For a while Tanyong was getting comfortable being in Nong May’s body. The idea of returning to her real body had always been a desire, a wish, but a far-fetched idea. Uncle Wee was a great distraction, he gave her his utmost attention and she was starting to settle into this little world of Nong May’s. The monk used to advise that she should do the best that she can, in the situation that she’s in, and let the merits and fate take its course. So she follows this advice, patching up the marriage between Khun Pat and Khun Metee, and learning what it takes to be a grown up. Just when everything looks like they are going down the right path, she realizes…

“Maybe I’ll Be Mad” –Ep 10 Pon Prom Onlaweng

Posted on March 1, 2013

Although the dialogues between Tanyong and Uncle Wee are not all that complex and profound, the nuances and body language however, speaks volumes. After all, what kind of a conversation does one expect to achieve from one so little and young? Grandma’s birthday party closed with a success. Tanyong is being sulky with her Uncle Wee because she’s jealous of his attention to Dr. Neung. Until Uncle Wee asks her to dance and made everything better. Tanyong’s life is more focused on the smaller scale problems these days. And just some attention from her favorite person, makes her day better. So she decides to test the waters about how he would handle the truth from her. They are out by the pool, the night…

Theme Development in Pon Prom Onlaweng

Tanyong never imagined that escaping her own world, with its magnanimous problems, will bring her into a little girl’s world with even bigger problems. This chaotic transition, this temporary diversion (or shall we say long vacation from her current self) is helping her view her own situation from a bird’s eyes view. Indeed just what the power above ordered, exactly what she needed. Through episode 8 and 9, we can see Tanyong realizing that even though it is easier said than done, forgiveness is the key to any relationship. Things are getting down to the wire and I can feel the final part of this series lurking from this weekend’s episodes. First, Dr. Pathawee, despite his diligence in researching Tanyong’s unique case, which is…

My Darling Uncle Wee – Ep 7 Pon Prom Onlaweng

Posted on February 22, 2013

Dr. Pathawee learns that at a certain point in his scientific, rational mind, he cannot continue using it to evaluate his increasingly strange niece. His original perception of her change in behavior and way of thinking is rationalized by the accident on the stairway. Her brain scans are normal, her physiology is normal, but psychologically, she’s 180 degrees from her normal self. Completely abnormal. In episode 7, Dr. Pathawee develops keen observations on Nong May, as the suspicions of her changed persona grows in the pit of his stomach. A wonderful, thoroughly enjoyable episode that not only moves the plot along, but offers some development in the romance department too. Nawin uses a new tactic to gain Kru Bie’s (teacher Bie) attention, he asks…

Character Development in Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Or the lack thereof. Four episodes into this drama and one thing is clear, it’s cute. Made completely possible by a simple plot of a woman whose soul resides within a child’s body and she must find her way back. The child, Nong May, happens to be a little gem. She acts so convincingly well as an adult that it doesn’t appear as if a child is playing dress up. And she has excellent chemistry with Boy Pakorn. The qualm I have with this drama is that our main characters’ have not been explored. There are opportunities to flesh out these characters and offer the viewers substance and a soul-searching experience. As of this Friday’s episode, we have yet to discover what ticks Dr.…

Pon Prom Onlaweng Ep. 2 A Child Again

lovefia

Posted on February 12, 2013

I wonder when they say “I hope our paths will cross again someday” are they referring to the point in time where their spirits sync up in a different universe, a world between the here and the heaven? The dark, lonely void where the souls await their fates? After the accident both Yong and Nong May float through the hospital halls trying to communicate with their loved ones, but to no avail. They found each other in that seemingly misty void and embraced. Next thing Yong knows, Nong May’s body disappears from her arms and she could hear a man’s voice calling her, beckoning her to come back to him. She does. At the hospital room Dr. Pathawee perspired from the exertion and anxiety…

Pon Prom Onlaweng Ep. 1 Intro to Characters

lovefia

Posted on February 11, 2013

Dr. Pathawee (Boy Pakorn) boards an airplane back to Thailand and his life will never be the same again. With one glance, a quick sidelong look, and he is instantly drawn to her. This is the beginning of a problem that doesn’t take root until later: the start of an intertwined destiny with an attractive woman who is returning to her hometown after two years of studying abroad. The aforementioned man belongs to a wealthy family, instead of pursuing his idled birthright, his compassionated heart and talented mind steered him to becoming an esteemed brain surgeon instead. He is smart, talented and rich. Not to mention in possession of a big and kind heart. What girl wouldn’t want a piece of this fine specimen?…

Body Swap in Pon Prom Onlaweng

lovefia

Posted on January 23, 2013

It’s madness. Simply madness. I know I complain about remakes and yet, all I watch and anticipate are remakes. Haven’t you taken a good look at my upcoming project list? Well, I’m going to add Pon Prom Onlaweng (Tumultous Destiny/Fate) to my radar. Not for Boy Pakorn. Not for Bella Ranee (since I’ve no idea who she is..) but simply for the memories of PPO (which featured Dodo and Ann Siriam way back when.) It’s one of those older lakorns that challenges clichéd lakorn plots, stretches your emotional acceptance and manages to make you laugh at the same time. It is a rom com after all. The plot surrounds a grown woman who body swaps with a five year old due to an accident.…

On Khun Samee and Tawanchai

lovefia

Posted on December 19, 2012

Is there a time in your life where you want to like something, but you just can’t? I’m currently experiencing this. I like Chompoo Araya so I gave Khun Samee a gander (one episode, really) and didn’t find myself drawn. Then I cheated and read recaps for ep 2-4 from DarknessLakorns and it doesn’t sound like something I would continue. Rome’s character, although appearing to be the ideal man, just sounds so boring. Also, Chompoo is turning out to be quite mean, what’s appealing about that? Speaking of which, Tawanchai Nai Marn Mek is not doing it for me either. Tawanchai, played by Taew, is an aspiring writer who wants nothing more than to write and read all day. Don’t we all? But there…

Wayupak Montra

Buckle your seatbelts because Wayupak Montra will take you on a scary ride! What a way to finish up 4 Hua Jai Hang Khun Khao series. This final showdown of the Adisuan quadruplets does not disappoint, we have enchantments, black magic, love and lots of wine. Be sure to “tum boon” more frequently so the God that protects your land has enough power to secure your properties, also, if you don’t believe in black magic or enchantments, don’t underestimate it. Alas, with these in mind, you are now prepared to watch the last story of 4 Hearts of the Mountain. Wayupak Adisuan (Lom) is the owner of Sailom Vineyard and the renowned playboy. He changes girlfriends more frequently than he changes his underwear. However,…
