Life Imitating Art in Mia Jum Pen

lovefia

Posted on January 24, 2021

The latest weekend installment, Mia Jum Pen or “Wife on Duty”, is a “remake” from its counterpart in 2001. I put remake in quotes because this year’s take on Mia Jum Pen does away with the outdated notions in the old version. In fact, if any of the plot was borrowed, it is created in almost a meme worthy way, which is so totally today. The first episode does not even go into the plot much (because how typical and drab would that be?) instead, show likes to be extra and introduce us to our two leads as Tomorn (Mai Warit) and Tawan (Pie Rinrada), as the lakorn addicts that fall into two camps: (1) those that watch lakorns live and (2) those that catch it later on YouTube.

The Curse of Love – Duangjai Nai Montra – Synopsis (Spoilers)

lovefia

Posted on January 13, 2021

Tono Pakin and Nychaa are reuniting with Broadcast Thai Production to headline the upcoming primetime lakorn, Duangjai Nai Montra. This is an adaptation from a book with the same name, by Praenath who penned Wayupak Montra, Khunchai Ronnapee and a slew of other successful almost made for TV stories. She’s a talented romance writer and I look forward to seeing how her characters come to life in the lakorn depiction.

As Long as the Sky has the Sun – A Review

lovefia

Posted on January 10, 2021

Trab Fah Mee Tawan – As Long as the Sky has the Sun recently completed its airing on Channel 3, by Sonix Boom Production, the same production team that brought us Thong Ake and Game Sanaeha, and in a sense, brought the combination of excellent comedic timing of Thong Ake and the heavier drama aspect of Game Sanaeha to The Sky Has the Sun. As a result, this show is well-paced and well-scripted, with a great directorial hand. Don’t let the English title fool you, “My Forever Sunshine” is anything but a fluffy show, it’s a show about mistakes, loss, finding happiness, and the all-encompassing love (whether that is love directed to a person or self-love).

A Belated Year-End

lovefia

Posted on January 3, 2021

Happy New Year, Lovelies. We survived 2020, so I figure it’s time to take stock of what I’ve seen this year, and perhaps extend a hopeful “resolution” to the universe in 2021.

Covid made sure I stayed home for most of 2020. Once the first couple of months of cabin fever wears off, I started on what could only be called a drama binge that lasts the rest of the year, spanning through three different countries style of storytelling. Take a look at the list below, do you see which country I’ve been camping in the most? And what is sorely lacking?

Nine Naphat as Mr. Arrogant

lovefia

Posted on December 28, 2020

“Spark Heart Mr. Arrogant” (Spark Jai Nai Jomying) is a bite sized lakorn that follows the story of Sun (Nine Naphat), a travel youtuber on a mission to improve his viewership ratings. Once a popular influencer, Sun turned away some of his avid fans into anti fans due to his attitude. No one actually knows (outside of his two best friends) that his special ability – the ability to hear people’s thoughts – forces him to shut himself out to the world. As a result, people on the internet coined him Mr. Arrogant and roots for him to fail. As far as Peat (Moss Witsarut)/Sun’s manager and best friend, Dam (Tae Darvid), is concerned, they are going to try their best to do an image overhaul.

Asa: The “Unfavorite” Third Child

gretutay

Posted on September 13, 2020

Like a ray of sunshine, Asa is ready to capture hearts, with his bright eyes and even brighter smile.

Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is healthy and staying sane. Many of us are facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 situation, and I figured that this is the best time for all of us to have a long relaxing walk in a lavender field so here we are with Asa Lavender, as the Thai audience have called him since watching the Lakorn. “Walking in a Lavender Field” is an expression in Thai that means having a relaxing time, and indeed, there is nothing more calming and joyful than watching Asa, brought to life by no other than James Jirayu, on screen.

Decoding the Ancient Trick: Leh Ban Pa Kal Episodes 7-14

Posted on April 26, 2020

Who would have thought that a thousand-year-old trick can wreak so much havoc?

Hello everyone! I suppose many of you are quarantined at home – I know I am. Hope that this summary/review finds you well. It’s been a roller coaster ride, though I am not sure if watching it during these chaotic times made it more apt or just made things (more) stressful, but all I can say is that overall, I found this lakorn to be a masterpiece. Whether I like it or not, that’s another point, which I will discuss later on in this review.

Check in & My Husband In Law 1st Impressions

lovefia

Mark Prin and Mew Nitha in My Husband in Love (feat Pets!)

Hello to my dearest friends.

Lakorn viewers.

Good story enthusiasts.

Fellow fangirls (fanboys).

How are you faring in the midst of this pandemic? I hope this post finds you well in both body, mind and spirit. It will end, and we will all change because of it, but we are stronger and know what matters the most. For me, that is coffee, sleep, good company (with 6 feet distancing) and good entertainment (however you define the source of entertainment).

Looking Through the Mist: Leh Bun Pa Kal Episodes 1 – 6

gretutay

Posted on March 29, 2020

TV Scene’s latest lakorn should more appropriately be called an epic.

Please give a warm welcome to our official writer, Greta! As you are well aware, Greta has written recaps and reviews on the blog for some time now, and I’ve admired her incredible writing skills and voice, so I asked if she could join us! Moving forward you will see articles under Greta’s username, please give her lots of love. We are very lucky to engage with not only a talented writer, but also one of the nicest people I know. ~Love, Fia

Hello folks! Hope you are all healthy and well. I’m pretty sure many of you are working from home right now because of the threat of COVID-19. Incidentally, the theme of TV Scene’s latest lakorn, Leh Bun Pa Kal is somehow in tune with the times, with unexplained tragedies happening left and right.  But this show isn’t all gloom and doom and surely those who watch it will have a sense of hope – or at least be entertained while we are waiting for our lives to be (relatively) normal again.

Double Espresso Coffee Talk: “Asee: The Favorite Youngest Child” by Greta

lovefia

Posted on February 23, 2020

The youngest child gets away with everything and yet this most beloved one pays the biggest price in the end.

Hello folks! Here I am again for the long overdue segment of our Double Espresso Coffee Talk for Krong Karm (“Repercussion”). Though I’ve been away for so long, don’t worry if you’re thinking that you’ve missed Asa’s part. The truth is that I realized that if I don’t do Asee’s before Asa’s part, I might end up not doing his part at all. So now here we are.
