This episode marks the end of Mattana’s stint in Phuket and the two have to come to terms with their farewells. The interview or scoop of KhetTawan comes to a close but we haven’t learned anything we don’t already know. But the two has bonded over intimate details of KhetTawan’s life, not to mention how his work eventually leads them to meet each other and change each other’s lives. What I’m curious to learn is, why isn’t there any promise to see each other again? The only thing we get is Mattana promising to send him a copy of the article when it’s published. With Chane he promises to see her in BKK, but KhetTawan has not made his move as of yet. He only thanks her for changing his perception- perhaps when he’s seeing her off at the airport, some hope of a future “relationship” may occur? We’ll have to wait and see.

Maya Tawan Ep 7

Screen Shot 2013-04-24 at 11.30.06 PM

It’s interesting how the plot is working backwards, explaining the backstory through flashbacks, at least in this episode anyway. Mattana is continuing on her interview with KhetTawan, realizing that only a few pieces are left to clarify, signifying that the end of her time with KhetTawan is drawing near. She didn’t know whether she should be ecstatic that she will finally have her article or be sad because she won’t have the excuse to see him again.

What she doesn’t realize is that she is changing the very way KhetTawan sees the world. Through her glass half full perspective, Mattana is showing KhetTawan that the women he consorts with or has any experiences with in his life, does not make up the entire female population.

Case in point, the scene on the cliff that overlooks the breathtaking sunset. Khun Ak is happy to see his friend with Mattana and leaves them to their devices. KhetTawan is showing her what part of the sunset he likes and she’s snapping the camera. She peers at him hesitantly and tells him that she would like to take a picture of him with the sunset so she could feature it with the Abbott’s interview portion.

Posted on April 23, 2013

An actor. Artist. Dutiful son. Humble. Down to earth. A sweetheart to many endearing fans who have followed his work since his debut. These are a few words to describe this underrated actor. But the road to fame for Pope was neither an easy nor smooth ride. Contrary to popular belief, to be where he is at today required heartbreak, tears, discouragement and setbacks (that are anything but his fault.) But ultimately, it is his perseverance and humble heart that pushes him to continue the pursuit of his dreams and become the most heartfelt and versatile actor in this business.

Pope was born on December 27, 1982; to a family with two children, he has one older sister. Pope received an undergraduate degree in Communication Arts and Design from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology. He worked as a graphic designer prior to pursuing a career in acting, which explains his talent in drawing and passion in teaching arts to students. Pope also teaches children soccer. Shortly after his promising career as a graphic designer, in 2006, Pope decides to audition for a leading role in a drama for channel 9. He won the audition and immediately starts practicing for the role, and resigns from his graphic designing career. Never did he imagine that the dream of being an actor could come to fruition. And never did he imagine the road could be so hard and disappointing.

Khun Chai Pawornruj – A Review

lovefia

Posted on April 21, 2013

d1-drama7-5413

It’s so easy to fall in love with Khun Chai Pawornruj, the second part of the Five Gentlemen Series, brought to us by Good Feeling. It is like watching a hero from a historical romance novel coming to life. There are so many good elements in this lakorn, and I’m enjoying it so thoroughly, that I find myself having a hard time explaining why- probably because I’m too busy swooning.

But we can start with the first and easiest attraction: Pope Thanawat. He is the perfect choice for Khun Chai Ruj. There is so much depth and angst to his character that it grabs you by the heart, and Pope plays it to a tee. Among the five brothers, he is the only Khun Chai whose mother is not of noble blood, and a housemaid to boot. Therefore he is teased as Khun Chai Gon Grua (Kitchen Khun Chai), and even though he is loved and respected by his family members, he experiences prejudice from the rest of the world.

The story opens up with Khun Chai Ruj and his three brothers at the airport picking up their eldest, Khun Chai Tharatorn who is returning from England after a visit with his beloved, Maprang. Khun Chai Ruj catches a glimpse of his ex girlfriend’s face, Watdao who immediately dashes away from him. A year ago, he received a shocking letter from her severing their relationship, and he couldn’t move on, couldn’t understand why she had broken up with him when they were so much in love.

Also at this exciting airport, Tan Ying Wanrasa has just returned from her studies abroad. Her status is higher than Khun Chai Ruj, but they were playmates when they were younger. The two has a connection, a deep bond from their childhood. But after Khun Chai Ruj’s parents passed away, he was sent to study abroad and the two lost contact from there. But Tan Ying Taew still remembers her P’Chai Ruj, a boy who was willing to play with her, a spoiled girl, and he was a big part of her childhood memories.

“One Word That Overwhelms My Heart” – Ep 6 Maya Tawan

Screen Shot 2013-04-19 at 2.11.23 PM

I used to watch you from afar
It is the only thing I can do
Am I imagining it, to be standing so close to you
It never crossed my mind that you would be here
Are you aware of the feelings I have?
I want to tell you how much I love you
Do you hear any of it, do you hear it at all?
The one word that overwhelms my heart
We are this close do you hear any of it, the beating sound of my heart
Do you hear any of it, do you hear it at all?
That my heart is telling you that I love you for so long
I hope that you can hear that I love you
You are the only person I’ve waited for
You are the only person in my dreams
I covertly watch you every day
The only person I’ve impressed with.
(OST Maya Tawan- Neung Kum Tee Lon Jai- One word that overwhelms my heart)

—

Who doesn’t like to watch a fangirl’s dream come true.  Do you secretly fancy a celeb, never hoping that your dreams could come to fruition, but by the work of the universe and maybe even that proverbial fate, you find yourself right under his nose and his attention squarely on you?

Mattana, our Siam Sarn entertainment reporter, and now an aspired political columnist, is interviewing Khun KhetTawan, a former superstar but now business man, who forever hated the media. It was a shaky start but the more time they spend together, the more they got to know each other. After all, it’s the intimacy, the shared secrets and stories that bond two people together.

Tawan’s Deception, a moment of understanding- Ep 5 Analysis Maya Tawan

lovefia

Posted on April 18, 2013

Screen Shot 2013-04-18 at 5.11.27 PM

This episode touched me the most. Perhaps it is because we get to delve deeper into KhetTawan’s past, learn about the man behind the actor, understand what makes him tick, and who he eventually became. It is a tale of abandonment, poverty, chasing one’s dream but once reaching it, only to find it meaningless, what it means to face disappointment and inevitably deception.

Beneath all of that wariness, coldness and skepticism lies a man who is afraid to let anyone in because he fears people would deceive him. Deception is such a strong, recurring theme in this lakorn because KhetTawan, time and time again, gets deceived by people he loved. His jaded outlook on life helps him build a wall around himself -as well as the few people he loves like Khun Akachai- and suspects bad intentions towards anyone who wants to get close, primarily, a reporter who can reveal all of the sordid details of his past.

But Mattana, the stubborn, glass half full girl has bulldozed herself into his life and he finds her in his care after she falls ill. Worse of all, she is a reporter. But slowly, despite their arguments and his mean treatment of her whenever her profession comes into discussion, the ice around his heart and the walls around his life is slowly melting and falling apart.

Getting her foot in the door Ep 4 – Maya Tawan

In KhetTawan’s living room, Mattana pleads her case and tries to prove to him that she is indeed his real fan.

She tells them (KhetTawan and Khun Akachai) that she went by “Tawanchai Glaang Jai Chan” during her fangirling days. Khun Ak perks up at the name, “so you’re her?! I remember that- you would correct the news on Ponn’s behalf a lot. You were very cute.”

KhetTawan gives his friend a warning look. “That’s how I feel, I’ve been wanting to meet you for a long time now,” Khun Ak continues.

“Are you finished with your show and tell now?” KhetTawan questions with irritation.

“Not yet-“ she says and adds, “not until you’re convinced.”

But he pretends to look away, as if he doesn’t care.

She tells him to check his camera, she was one of the fans who were in the front line when he was coming out of his car and taking a picture of his fanclub. Khun Ak encourages KhetTawan that Mattana’s case is easy to prove, he has saved all of the memory cards.

KhetTawan leans down and says, “So what if you’re the real fanclub? Should I agree to interview with you then? Get your stupid belongings together and get out of my house.”

Caught Ep 3 – Maya Tawan

Posted on April 16, 2013

Screen Shot 2013-04-16 at 11.56.51 AM

Things are looking up for Mattana from the previous episode, she is able to get on KhetTawan’s good side by saving Jod and they had a brief moment by the stairs the previous night. Her research into KhetTawan’s life (the brief few days that she has been working for him) has led her to this point in time where she gained a key factor to his resignation from the entertainment industry.

A designer is waiting for her meeting with KhetTawan when her drawing for the charity fashion show goes flying into the air. Where did the wind gust come from? One of the sheet, displaying the finale dress lands into Mattana’s hand, she had been walking Jem. She immediately gets her two musketeers on the phone and shares her suspicions with them. She surmises that KheTtawan is the real Jintara, this female name was only created as a front, a cover up. Mattana’s gut as well as the evidences that she came across the last couple of days are pointing to the fact that KhetTawan is indeed the designer. This was his ticket out of the entertainment industry- he built a library along with a design workshop where he creates his masterpieces. She was sure he had several designers’ help in brainstorming, but he is the real brain behind it all.

Whatever Means Necessary Ep 2 – Maya Tawan

lovefia

Posted on April 15, 2013

555476_469723429765209_28258424_n

Mattana’s determination to write a column on the former celebrity KhetTawan, after his two years resignation from the entertainment industry, marks her own desire to exit the entertainment columns so she could pursue her dream of writing about politics. It is the chance to prove herself worthy of such serious endeavor. The motive behind her method of madness is clear, take whatever means necessary.

You have to wonder about reporter’s intentions. They want to divulge insider information to sell the news, even with a former celebrity like KhetTawan, his news still sells because fans are still curious about him, but is there an imaginary line at all though that reporters don’t cross? Despite not appearing like the typical papparazzis’, Mattana is proving to be as resourceful, conniving and bothersome- not to mention lying through her teeth.

She explains her responsibilities to her career to the Abbott at the temple- her additional research into KhetTawan’s murky past- a diversion to her current task while she figures out a way to get back into Tawan’s home. Mattana folds her legs and inquires the Abbott about KhetTawan. She tries to convince the older man that she needed as much research materials before she interviews the man himself.

Fah Krajang Dao – Summary

lovefia

Posted on April 14, 2013

A12508799-19

Fah Krajang Dao is the third part of the Three Musketeers series, following Mon Jan Tra (Margie and Chakrit.) This lakorn will be the third remake of its time (which is based off of a book)- but hopefully TV scene and the new pairing will offer a different perspective. J’s inquiry of a summary got me curious- and since there aren’t detailed English summaries of FKD out there- I decided to summarize the Thai one from Kapook.

It is such an optimistic title for a lakorn with a dark backdrop, probably the most serious out of the three. The n’ek (Mee) has a pretty messed up past, she was raised by her aunt (her father wouldn’t take responsibility over her mother when she was preggers at 15, yes 15! So his sister took n’ek in, then her mom got married off (by her grandma) to a messed up man.) But her aunt is pretty strict so one day she ran off to find her mother in Northern Thailand. However, she encounters an abusive stepdad who is involved with human trafficking. Her mom is helpless within his evil wrath and so Mee went back to find her aunt whom became less strict and nicer to her. Some time later Mee caught wind that her grandma passed away, and that her two younger sisters (from her step dad and mom) were sold to prostitution.
