Who run the world? Girls.
Channel 3’s new primetime lakorn premiered today taking over the Wednesday-Thursday timeslot, and does not waste a moment in their storytelling. Piang Chai Kon Nee Mai Chai Poo Wiset (which translates as ‘Just a Man, Not a Magician’) seems poised to be a show with a lot of dramatic impact. I like the pairing already and smiled quite a bit during their confrontations. It’s a romantic story that I want to see unfold. But first, let’s see if I remember how to do this.
Get ready boys and girls, Piang Chai Kon Nee Mai Chai Poo Wiset (When A Man Loves A Woman) will be airing on Channel 3 this coming Thursday, April 21st. Headlining this prime time lakorn are James Ma and Kimberly Voltemas, pairing for the first time through Anne Thongprasom’s production. A hot pairing to be sure, but more importantly, this lakorn appears to have all of the makings of an intense, engrossing drama.
Metha Lae Mahaniyom and Nok Chatchai, the team and director that brought us several beautifully directed lakorns such as Tawan Deard, Neur Mek 1 and 2, as well as Khun Chai Ronnapee to name a few, has done it again with the stunning picture quality of Chaat Payak starring Top Jaron and Mew Nitha. But eye catching and slick directing aside, this lakorn stands to have a great story at its core.

The title of this lakorn speaks to what it means to be a “model” wife in historical, olden context. Back then not only is a model wife educated and skilled in the world of home making, but she must be loyal and tend to her husband’s every wants and needs. She’s the epitome of a lady on the street and a freak in bed. Initially, I was turned off by the perception of the storyline, do I really need to see another story surrounding domestic stereotypes? Is the heroine going to be bullied because she’s expected to behave in a docile, non confrontational manner? Lo and behold, this story is NOT about that. In fact, toss those impressions out the window.

Tarm Rak Keun Jai by LakornThai is a story about Nara, known to most as Noona. She has known that her father, Ram, was deceased for 15 years now, but after finishing her college studies, and en route to continue her Masters in the States, Noona comes across evidences revealing that her father may actually be alive. When confronting her difficult, possibly narcissistic mother, she learns that she had been lied to all this time. To think that she could have spent the last 15 years with a father who adored her and showed her unconditional love, a father she had missed everyday, Noona was furious.
Split personality. Telekinesis. Fated love. These are all plot devices for our currently airing lakorn, Song Hua Jai Nee Peur Ter (Two Spirits Love). However the most compelling aspect of this lakorn isn’t so much the busy plotline, but it is the talented actor himself – Mario Maurer. Gird your loins; his expressive eyes will go right to your soul. And the chemistry with his costar, Mint Chalida, that’s icing on the cake.
April has come and gone and some of you may be wondering whether I’ve had my baby yet and how motherhood is treating me. I’m happy to report back that baby boy did not overstay his welcome and came five days early!
All eight pounds of him and eight hours of labor was worth it seeing his squishy, adorable little face. The long and arduous journey of pregnancy was only the beginning as sleep deprivation, feeding around the clock and projectile vomits/poops became the name of the game. Two weeks in, and I’m deliriously happy! Call me crazy.
Well hello Readers!
I’m still alive.. and still very much pregnant. But I am at the home stretch! The little one isn’t even here yet but I’ve been thoroughly busy preparing the nursery, attending child birthing classes and well, trying to ignore the typical aches and pains of pregnancy. Not to mention, maintaining a full time career. I can’t say that I’m one of those mommy-to-be’s who actually enjoy being pregnant, I honestly just want to get this over with and hold my baby already. And it will come soon enough!
I apologize for my lack of lakorn updates, and thank you for the emails and checking in with me. I know Lom Sorn Rak has been on air and a few highly anticipated lakorns are lurking nearby, please feel free to share your thoughts on them here.
I have seen the first episode of LSR, just out of curiosity, but can’t wager too much since I should watch a few more episodes. However from what I gather and as you probably already know, LSR centers around twin brothers (both acted by Nadech Kukimiya). One is a rural doctor (Non) who blames his father for the death of his mother and still holds that grudge to present day. He opts to stay far away and focus on helping the village people. Meanwhile his older twin brother (Pran) works at their father’s company – Good Life Science – which orients themselves on providing equipment for doctors globally. It’s essentially allowing folks to receive health services in their home without the need to travel. Sounds great yeah? Sounds almost like Big Hero Six, ha. The ironic part about it all is that the father owns a company that intends on saving lives, yet he failed to save his own wife.
Currently in fitting status, Song Hua-Jai Mee Peur Ter (Two Spirits’ Love) will star first time pairing Mario Maurer and Mint Chalida. I love that the poster looks like a movie poster – this series will be produced by the makers of Fai Rak Plerng Kaen – and this will be their second attempt in the lakorn stratosphere. I think Mario in anything is a great choice if you want to redeem yourself from your lackluster premiere.
