Rang Tawan – Episode 8

What’s a girl gotta do around here to get more screentime for Suriyen and Tarntawan? This episode is even slimmer picking than before. The tone feels slower and sleepier..  or maybe I just didn’t drink enough coffee today?

Ready or Not, Luk Mai Klai Ton Remake Is Here

lovefia

Posted on July 12, 2016

lukmaiklaiton

Luk Mai Klai Ton is a beloved lakorn to many, and good lakorns are always up for a remake. You would think that bad lakorns should be remade into good lakorns, because why remake something that is already great and still relevant today, into something good? I’ll be the first to admit that I was wary about watching this, because there are some golden lakorns that should not be touched, like Tawee Pope, and now Luk Mai Klai Ton. How is anyone going to top an already perfect lakorn? But my curiosity always gets the best of me, and I tune in, reminding myself to think of Luk Mai Klai Ton 2016 as a standalone lakorn. Let’s see how Show reinterprets the story, bring the characters to life and make us swoon all over again.

Lakorn Check-in: Ruk Fun Thalop and Kong Grapan Naree

One HD finally released episode 3 of Ruk Fun Thalop on youtube, despite my waiting for it on Saturday, hoping to get the recaps done. However, I am noticing that this sitcom-like lakorn doesn’t really warrant a recap. It’s one of those mindless, funny lakorns that you can sit and watch with your brains checked out. The jokes are funny, but are best left to watch instead of reading, and the plot does not thicken. But that’s really the purpose of the lakorn anyway, it’s not here to make you think, it’s a sit-back-relax kind of show. Which would be fine, but there are so many lakorns airing right now that I’d rather focus on those and put this one aside- in terms of writing full recaps. I’ll watch during my downtime (which is few and far in between) but at the end of the day, it’s not a show that I am eager to watch live and I don’t think we are missing much.

Morassoom Sawat – A Tale of The Little Deer and Her Hunter

lovefia

Posted on July 11, 2016

morrasoomsawat2

Once upon a time, in a monsoon-laden land, there lived a doe-eyed little deer quite happy to stay in her calm and placid world. To the animals in this kingdom, the little deer represents all that is good in the world: righteous, dignified, sympathetic. But out of nowhere, the temperature drop and the wind increase: the monsoon storm is brewing. The little deer is forced into the woods where she runs headlong into a scary tiger. What becomes of the little deer? Can she befriend and tame the tiger or get eaten alive in the natural order of Hunter-Prey world? Can the little deer keep the boat afloat in the midst of the storm, or get shattered into smithereens in the wake of it?

In this lakorn world – Morrassoom Sawat (Monsoon of Passion) by Mum Mai Production – Kumarika “Kwang” (Preaw Tasaneeya), is the little deer that meets the scary hunter/tiger, Sayomphu “Nai Noi” (Weir Sukollowat). What makes their story different and more interesting is the angle: Show projects from the scary tiger’s perspective. What if, in the eyes of the scary tiger, he sees the little deer as a door to a new world? The scary tiger does not want to hunt anymore; he is tired of killing little innocent deer. But he is afraid that after giving his trust and friendship to the little deer, he will get betrayed. You can take the tiger out of the woods but can you take the wild out of the tiger? Will the tiger succumb to its natural instincts and kill the deer, or can the deer win over his scary, cold heart?

Mew Nitha On the Big Screen “Fan Day, Fan Gan Kae Wan Diow”

I miss our little mouse, Mew Nitha, and was wondering what she has been up to. This September we’ll get to see her pretty face on the silver screen, and in a romantic comedy to boot. She will be starring alongside Ter Chantawit in “Fan Day.. Fan Gan Kae Wan Diow” (Partner Day.. Partner for a Day) by GDH 559 Production. This would be the production and Mew’s first time on the big screen, which takes place in Hokkaido.

Rang Tawan – Episode 7

My heart hurts for Suriyen and Tarntawan. The more I get to know these two, the more I find their painful past touching. Tarntawan realizes that in order to gain trust, you have to give trust. By sharing her vulnerable, painful past- something that she doesn’t normally share with anyone else – it is therapeutic and encourages an exchange of storytelling. And the scars that we carry with us aren’t always visible, but it’s there, forever embedded in our minds.

I am a fan of the quieter, solemn moments in this show. But the cute and funny that follows towards the latter half of this show, especially coming from Suriyen, makes me feel like everything will be all right. As long as there’s Nong Phit, Tarntawan and the lawyer, Suriyen could fight the beast inside him and transform into the prince we know he’s totally capable of. At least in Nong Phit’s eyes, his uncle is capable of going from being a big scary bear, to one of an adorably cute (but still big) bear. Can’t hide them muscles.

Kong Grapan Naree – First Look

I’m really excited that all of the new lakorns that are cropping up are actually really engaging. It’s a good thing and a bad thing. How could it ever be bad, you ask? It makes me want to recap them, that’s why. Right now time is an issue because I’m already picking up two shows, but if this show continues to stay engaging, I will occasionally write about them when time permits. If you’re into superhero storyline (which is few and far in between for lakorns) this one is for you. The cast, the action sequence and origin story is great so far. I don’t doubt that Broadcast Thai will put on a good show, and I’ll be watching this during its Mon-Tues timeslot.

Ruk Fun Thalop – Episode 2

I like the sitcom feel about this show, it’s zippy and fun, and things don’t get withheld for too long. When the truth comes out in the open, things are handled surprisingly lighter than one of them expected. Because even though it’s a big deal for you, it’s mediocre to someone else. When it comes to opening up and connecting with someone else, it all depends on where you are in life and whether timing is on your side. Truer words. Timing is EVERYTHING, in this lifetime or previous.

Between Love and Duty – Sai Lap Rak Puan

lovefia

Posted on July 1, 2016

sailuprakpuan
Following Tayard Arsoon, Andrew and Ploy’s lakorn – Sai Lap Rak Puan – will give our weekend a nice laugh. This is an action, romance, comedy lakorn that centers around Din (Andrew’s character) who’s a top secret government spy agent. It’s so secretive that he can’t even tell his significant other, Ran (Ploy’s character), what he does for a living. Instead everyone is led to believe that he’s a sales agent, which is not up to par with Ran’s hi-so status (at least per her mother anyway). Looks like not only will Din battle with his real job while trying to maintain his love life, but he has rich in laws to contend with. Even the teaser says you can’t start a marriage with lies, because it means you’ll have to lie to your wife for the rest of your life. Gosh, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. A sweet disaster. So far the show looks funny and their relationship seems adorable. If Din weren’t a secret spy agent, I’m pretty sure life would have been smooth sailing for him. I like the conflict set up already. Andrew looks great as the funny, skilled secret spy agent, because when you’re dealing with life and death situations, it’s best to choose laughter over tears, since tears are inevitable.
