Chaat Payak – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on March 15, 2016

Metha Lae Mahaniyom and Nok Chatchai, the team and director that brought us several beautifully directed lakorns such as Tawan Deard, Neur Mek 1 and 2, as well as Khun Chai Ronnapee to name a few, has done it again with the stunning picture quality of Chaat Payak starring Top Jaron and Mew Nitha. But eye catching and slick directing aside, this lakorn stands to have a great story at its core.

Padiwarada- Arranged Marriage, Anyone?

lovefia

Posted on January 25, 2016

The title of this lakorn speaks to what it means to be a “model” wife in historical, olden context. Back then not only is a model wife educated and skilled in the world of home making, but she must be loyal and tend to her husband’s every wants and needs. She’s the epitome of a lady on the street and a freak in bed. Initially, I was turned off by the perception of the storyline, do I really need to see another story surrounding domestic stereotypes? Is the heroine going to be bullied because she’s expected to behave in a docile, non confrontational manner? Lo and behold, this story is NOT about that. In fact, toss those impressions out the window.

Pursue Love Back to the Heart – Simply Delightful

Posted on December 16, 2015

Tarm Rak Keun Jai by LakornThai is a story about Nara, known to most as Noona. She has known that her father, Ram, was deceased for 15 years now, but after finishing her college studies, and en route to continue her Masters in the States, Noona comes across evidences revealing that her father may actually be alive. When confronting her difficult, possibly narcissistic mother, she learns that she had been lied to all this time. To think that she could have spent the last 15 years with a father who adored her and showed her unconditional love, a father she had missed everyday, Noona was furious.

Song Hua Jai Nee Peur Ter – 1st Impressions

lovefia

Posted on October 15, 2015

Split personality. Telekinesis. Fated love. These are all plot devices for our currently airing lakorn, Song Hua Jai Nee Peur Ter (Two Spirits Love). However the most compelling aspect of this lakorn isn’t so much the busy plotline, but it is the talented actor himself – Mario Maurer. Gird your loins; his expressive eyes will go right to your soul. And the chemistry with his costar, Mint Chalida, that’s icing on the cake.

Cam I Am

Posted on May 6, 2015

April has come and gone and some of you may be wondering whether I’ve had my baby yet and how motherhood is treating me. I’m happy to report back that baby boy did not overstay his welcome and came five days early! All eight pounds of him and eight hours of labor was worth it seeing his squishy, adorable little face. The long and arduous journey of pregnancy was only the beginning as sleep deprivation, feeding around the clock and projectile vomits/poops became the name of the game. Two weeks in, and I’m deliriously happy! Call me crazy.

An Update!

lovefia

Posted on March 11, 2015

Well hello Readers! I’m still alive.. and still very much pregnant. But I am at the home stretch! The little one isn’t even here yet but I’ve been thoroughly busy preparing the nursery, attending child birthing classes and well, trying to ignore the typical aches and pains of pregnancy. Not to mention, maintaining a full time career. I can’t say that I’m one of those mommy-to-be’s who actually enjoy being pregnant, I honestly just want to get this over with and hold my baby already. And it will come soon enough! I apologize for my lack of lakorn updates, and thank you for the emails and checking in with me. I know Lom Sorn Rak has been on air and a few highly anticipated…

Mario Maurer in a new romcom with Mint Chalida

lovefia

Posted on December 29, 2014

Currently in fitting status, Song Hua-Jai Mee Peur Ter (Two Spirits’ Love) will star first time pairing Mario Maurer and Mint Chalida. I love that the poster looks like a movie poster – this series will be produced by the makers of Fai Rak Plerng Kaen – and this will be their second attempt in the lakorn stratosphere. I think Mario in anything is a great choice if you want to redeem yourself from your lackluster premiere.

2014 Lakorn Year In Review

lovefia

Posted on December 29, 2014

It’s that time of the year again, and for once, I am happy to say that it hasn’t been difficult to pick my favorite lakorn of the year – especially since I did not watch many lakorns to its completion. With a year full of anticipated lakorns, one understated lakorn came and swept me by surprise: Spinsters and Casanovas (Kuan Kaantong Gup Gang Por Pla Lai). With its witty and smart writing, loveable (relatable) characters, and charismatic pairings, Spinsters offered a story about friendship, finding peace with yourself (and your age) as well as love, even when it mired against traditional expectations.

Suea – The Weretiger – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on December 4, 2014

We’ve seen our fair share of TV adaptations about tales of the werewolf and even vampires, but are you ready to see a depiction of the weretiger, more specifically “Suea” (tiger)? In this midweek lakorn lineup, Suea starring Taya Rogers, Nike Nitidon and Bank Cash, the weretigers are portrayed as dangerous sorcerers who are capable of shape shifting into the human form during a full moon the color of blood in order to lure humans and eat them. The wild animal keepers believe this wholeheartedly and we see them trying to hunt a male (Bank Cash) and female weretigers on the verge of mating. The only way to kill them is to aim for the heart.

Sam Bai Mai Tao – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on December 2, 2014

Brought to us by Maker Group Production and directed by Chai Chatayodom, Sam Bai Mai Tao, is the newest weekend installment from Channel 3. Airing its first episode last Sunday, this remake from ’95 brings on a lighthearted family drama to the current lakorn lineup. The story follows a warm and loving family- as seen in the above photo – albeit with a strict father. There is nothing more in life that he loves more than to freeze the moments with his daughters and keep them where he wants them. Perhaps due to his possessive and interfering parental ways, his three daughters are anything but under his firm control.
