I’m a typical professional who comes home from a crazy day at work and let the television fill the void. I have specific shows that I tune into on specific days, but today happened to be one of those days where that specific show came to an end (at least the season series anyway. Thanks so much Walking Dead..) So I had to find a replacement. Imagine my surprise when I query my Netflix and discover “Prosecutor Princess” available on stream.
Can I request lakorns to be available on stream too? Wouldn’t that be nice? As much as I love YT (the free aspect of it..) I love being able to watch something crisp and clear more. You know, being able to see Nadech’s face on tv and spazz uncontrollably. Well not really anyway as I usually have my significant other peering oddly at me over his remote. But he knows me and lakorns are BFF so he reframes from judging.
So for an hour or so, I watched a Korean drama series about Ma Hye Ri, a short haired (permed I imagine to rock the wavy bob) and pretty woman who has more style than sense. She just ‘earned’ her prosecutor status and instead of appearing at the final ceremony and celebration, she opted to go shopping for her ski outing. To get away from attending, she lied that her mother was in the hospital- which is true but she forced her mother to fake it- which further shows the depth of her character and the extent in which she is willing to go in order to get what she wants.
But what is more important than going to your acceptance ceremony? Well, to attend the reveal of a luxury brand’s new design, of course. However her purse got stolen and made everything extremely difficult for her. She runs into the mysterious rich guy whom she ends up sharing a hotel with and another guy whom she thought stole her wallet but ends up being her superior! Yikes, so many cringe worthy scenes for Hye Ri. I can’t say that I can relate to her ditzy character, but it’ll only mean that much lesson is in store for her.
Will she be able to take home the designer shoes she came for? Can she force her prosecuting superiors to take her more seriously? Does she even care? Who is the main guy? I’m definitely going to watch more to find out. Besides, even though both mysterious guys are not drop dead gorgeous at first glance, their on screen charisma made them attractive! I must say I want to see more of the rich guy, haha. What does he do? Why is he so rich? What makes him so mysterious? Is it a Korean drama style to make their lead guy so intriguing? If so, Thai lakorns can learn a thing or two from them.. this is only my second Korean drama but it will not be my last!

It’s so much fun to here a story that is the opposite of mine. I just recently have started Thai Lakorns. I just finished my second one, Game Rai Game Rak and loved, but I’ve watched hundreds of Kdramas.
I’m glad you are enjoying Prosecutor Princess. Park Shi Hoo is awesome as “the rich guy.”
I hope I can get in some time to watch more Thai Lakorns and I’m looking forward to reading your Torranee Nee Nee Krai Krong recaps.

Heeh I don’t know much about Park Shi Hoo’s character other than identifying him as ‘the rich guy.’ He did bid for a $7,000 pair of shoes and have his own personal assistance who remembers his bank account, but I digress 🙂
Glad to hear that you loved GRGR, so did I. And I simply cannot wait to watch Torranee. But for now, it will be Prosecutor Princess! It’s so great to exchange thoughts with fellow drama fans, we can definitely relate!

I love this show! I did a couple of posts on it though they were mostly of spazzy caps. lol
The perky start masks an angsty second half but the angst is oh so delicious. The OTP’s confession ranks as one of my favourites and got tears out of me even on my re-watch. btw, did you finish watching ‘Beautiful Days’ in the end?

Although I loved Beautiful Days, I sort of fell out of it. Once the OTP admitted their love, it was over for me haha. I guess I should have marathoned it until it was finished. I was also watching it while watching four other lakorns too..
What’s up with K-drama and love triangles? Competition is fierce! In this drama, I love the rich guy, it’s too bad in episode 3, she found herself in the arms of the wrong man (well in my eyes anyway.) I’m hooked so far! Will watch more tomorrow. Did you get my email?

For PP, I actually didn’t mind Hye Ri with Mr. Brooding Prosecutor initially but Mr. Rich Guy with Secrets won me (and HR) over eventually. XD

My uncle loved it to the extent of purchasing the director’s cut version. I personally did not enjoy the second half of the drama. I don’t know the reason behind it, but I just lost interest. Fia I want to recommend Smile You. The nang ek is refreshing (you will love her as her character grows) and the pra ek is just a total sweetheart.

don’t watch pang sanaeha. if i were you just watch cuts of kan and cheer. im disappointed in lakorns after pang sanaeha so I’m not watching any lakornns atm. I’m just on Netflix watching older Korean drama.

I’ve just recently started to get hooked on kdrama which was pure accidental. After suffering from severe withdrawal from GRGR, I was surfing Youtube for MVs LOL (pathetic, I know) to get my fix and I happened across a Kdrama MV – “My princess”. So, I googled and found a site to watch in english subtitles (dramafever.com). At first I was skeptical because the leading girl was so plain looking and childlike but as the story and relationship among the leads progressed, I got hooked. The difference btwn a kdrama and lakorn is the in depth relationship development among the characters which sometimes Lakorns lack. There seems to be banter btwn the leads in lakorns but not as deep, I suppose. Also, its interesting to watch another country’s culture – its so different from Southeast Asia but issues of money, family and social class is still the same. I still love lakorns but its nice to change it up once in a while. If anyone is interested, this is a good blog for info on kdramas: dramabeans.com.

If you have Netflix you can watch My Princess there too. I agree with you. But there is that sex appeal (OPT) and chemistry that Korean drama lacks. Like you have two really good looking people but there is no good chemistry. Im not saying all drama but from all the billions of Kdrama I have seen, most of them lack that sex appeal ahem like Yadech, Ateam, Mteam, KenAnn, etc.

Ooh, I will always opt to watch it on Netflix, thanks for letting me know, Fun. Sorry to hear that Parng Sanaeha was a disappointment, now I’m a bit wary about picking it up. I may just watch the first few ep to see if it will draw my attention (that is, after I finish with PP!)
Regarding your mention of sex appeal, so far, the male leads in both K-drama that I’ve seen thus far, have them in spades! Apparently I lucked out 🙂

Hi Leang- thanks for sharing your thoughts about Kdrama- and most importantly, thanks for commenting. I thrive on chatting with fellow fans, it’s really the best part about blogging, I think- other than venting the heck out of my frustrations with lakorns 🙂
I’ve noticed that in Korean dramas, the perception of beauty is very different from other dramas. Their female leads are not bombshells nor are they drop dead gorgeous- but they always end up warming me over with their acting. I also noticed that they wear very minimal amount of makeup, whereas in lakorns, apparently the more the merrier. Their male lead on the other hand, are always h-o-t! Maybe that’s why I feel I can always relate to the female lead when she dreams about the male lead or does something utterly embarrassing.
I agree with character development- k drama characters have more depth to them. Lakorns tend to be very much on the surface level- she’s a bad character so therefore she can do anything.. I just don’t buy it.
Also, thanks so much for the rec, I’ll be sure to add it to my growing list 🙂 This may be trouble because it just may steer me away from lakorns. Haha, I must be kidding myself. Lakorns will always be my bread and butter!

i saw this kdrama when it was airing and i love it! Kim So Yeon (Ma Hye Ri) and Park Shi Hoo (Mr. Mysterious Rich Guy) makes a cute pairing. Mr. Mysterious becomes even more attractive further into the drama so keep watching! lol. i fell in love with him in Prosecutor Princess.

Hi simplysweet- I’m on ep 10, can’t stop spazzing every time Lawyer Seo comes out with Hye Ri. His actions and gestures towards her always melts my heart, despite it going against his “plans” — whatever that is 🙂 6 more eps until the end!

korean standard of beauty: fair milky skin, double eyelid, and innocence. they are obsess with aegeyo (cuteness more like childlike mind to the extreme lol). you will notice that a lot in korean variety shows, drama and even their music! i can tolerate natural cuteness and silliness but when a celebrity tries too hard it comes off as fake and unnatural, i feel like slapping some sense into them. haha i feel the same way about my sisters when they try to act cute. they end up with a slap from me instead.
as for smile you, the only place you can watch it is at viki. theres azn.tv too but you have to be a member. it has 40 something episode but dont let that sway you away. some people stop around episode 5-7 but sadly they missed out on a really good drama. the character development is a joy to watch. a rich spoiled family that has lost their fortune doesnt change overnight. as for the lead, at first i couldnt watch the leading male, but grew to love him and found out why he was picked for this role. every characters (theres a lot) grows, changes, and has a purpose in the drama.
you will laugh, cry your heart out and cringe in happiness. let me know when you will get to it so that i can spazz with you.
