Who’s Team Are You On? ‘Petch Tud Petch’ Premiers!

Even before the first episode aired, I posed a question on what team you’d like to be on, Team Weir or Team Mik in Petch Tud Petch, way before you even knew what side is the right side, or even if there is such a thing as the right side, because you know, your heart wants what it wants. Well I am here to report to you the first look of this action-packed lakorn, where every minute is chalk full of fighting scenes, you’ll wonder if both sides of the party would even survive before you could submit your vote.

Happy Friday you guys! I hope the week has been great for you, as we roll into the wonderful weekend (wonderful in that we don’t have to work). I’ve been in a lakorn rut in the last two weeks, if you haven’t noticed already. Really, no shows have captured my attention since OUATIMH, so I’m just twiddling my thumbs, bored as heck.

The upside is that Petch Tud Petch with Weir and Mik will air soon, which will be something to look forward to, not to say that it promises to be good. But it’s Weir and Mik, so. And just a reminder, I don’t do any fan subbing, so please don’t request that I sub a particular lakorn, because those emails will just go into the black void. You are still welcome to request recaps or summaries.

So what are you up to? Watching? Upcoming plans?

I went into this premier episode with no idea what this show is about. A reader emailed me and wanted to know what I thought, so I figure, no harm in checking out the first episode. I should know based on the title, which means “new body, same heart” that we might have a body swapping story on our hands, and after watching the first episode, I will say that this premise is built on maturity, conflict, and such a mired backstory that the body swapping future will be fraught of drama. I can already sense it. But first, the story.

Nang Ay

Apiradee Anothai, or Nang (Nycha Nuttanicha), is a seventeen year old girl and life was pretty great, she has her iPhone and social media accounts, she has her biker friends, and knows that she can handle anything that comes her way. It’s the 21st century teenage confidence, if you will. But one day, she was caught in the wrong place and at the wrong time, the paparazzi splatters her image on the front page smearing her dad’s name (he’s a minister of state) that she was fighting over a man. She tries to defend herself to dad – because why shouldn’t he trust his seventeen year old daughter? – but no matter what she says, she just comes off being rude and disrespectful. So dad claims he has lost his trust in her and that he’s concerned he’ll lose her altogether if he permits things to continue on this way, and so he throws down the gauntlet: she’s going to a boarding school in Penang. That’s Malaysia, another country away, and at an all-girls CONVENT boarding school to boot. Dad claims that her mother went there and she turned out great, the nuns will teach her manners and how to be a lady. Because apparently parenting a teenager isn’t mom and dad’s strong suit. So Life as Nang knows it, is over.

Happy weekend everybody. This week went by fast, it’s Friday and it’s mid September! NY visited NY for Coach and fashion week, it was interesting to see Yaya in head to toe Coach on my Coach feed. This was an instance where real world and lakorn world came together, it was a doozy. Lakorn wise, I was really bored. Nothing has captured my attention yet, so I am still sifting through random things and new shows. How was your week? What are your plans for this weekend? I’m taking little man to a toddler’s gym, should be interesting, he’s part monkey so I’m sure he’ll enjoy it. Other than that, I think we’ll relax (if that is even a word for this kid).

Well hello. I know I was debating earlier whether I’ll tune into Duang Jai Pisut (which premiered today), but when you don’t have anything else to watch and you’re bored as heck, beggars can’t be choosers. I figure, at least check out the first episode.

What are you watching?

I’m still going through some withdrawals from Once Upon a Time, and struggling to find something, anything that can captivate me to that extent. I guess a better way to put this is: I’m bored. So bored.

So entertain me. What are you watching? Am I missing out on anything? There are a slew of new lakorns cropping up shortly, like Narkee, Duang Jai Pisut and even Nang Ay, so I guess there’s that lineup to look forward to. Sadly, I’m not jumping up and down.

Do I need to go find a new hobby?! Say it ain’t so. I really liked my spot on my favorite chair and in front of my computer, being lazy. Wait no, that’s being productive, sharing my thoughts with fellow lakorn fanatics. I’m exercising my fingers!

Rang Chung and the Drama

lovefia

screenshot-2016-09-12-22-47-48

So. Rang Chung is here, a historical lakorn that is heavy on the melo. It’s only forty-minutes long per episode so I figure I’d give it a shot just to see Taya again. She will always be known to me as Prissana, and that is never a bad thing. In this lakorn, Taya dons traditional attire and she stars alongside Kan Kantathavorn. I think the acting is natural and the two have an easy chemistry together. When Taya flashes her dimpled smile, you might need a moment to re-orient yourself. But story wise, it’s heavy stuff. If you’re into melos and high drama, this one might be for you. I’m just here to report my first look at this and then backtrack to my happy place. Put on your hearts of steel if you’re giving this one a go.
