The mark of a new year brings forth much anticipation, excitement and curiosity of what will come. It is also a great time to reflect the past year, what was accomplished, and what should improve.
In our make belief world of lakorn however, we can only enjoy what is given to us. And with that being said, I find myself excited for a rare few. (Yet my pondering mind still cannot help but imagine what could have been if I had things my way.)

First on my list, and first to air bright and early this new year is Raeng Prathana (Powerful Desires) starring Nadech Kugimiya and Kimberly Woltemas, the brother (Fai) and sister (Dr. Nam) in 4 Hearts of the Mountains. This time around, they are more established (quite the resume they have), more beautiful, and doubly more popular. Kimberley is taking on a different role, sounds more like a bitter woman who discovers she’s in love with a man she can’t have. So I’m hoping she has more character depth in this drama. Nadech plays more of the same, gentlemanly pr’ek. No matter how clichéd, I’m tuning in, if anything, just to see whether this “new” pairing will sizzle or fizz out. (Anony is subbing this one, and she’s real fast so I’m not sure if recaps are necessary.
Regardless, I am still considering this one as my new project, but it all depends on timing. When it will air and whether I’ve settled into my home yet. )

Following Raeng Prathana is Maya Tawan, first story of the 3 Musketeers series. You already know I’m looking forward (and will be recapping) this one in particular. There’s a lot to be excited for, 1. Aum Atichart, 2. Aum Atichart in a contemporary setting, 3. Aum Atichart with Yaya, and lastly 4. Girl power- Yaya + Matt + Margie. There is an obvious trend: I’ll pretty much watch anything Aum Atichart is in. ‘Nough said.

The final lakorn I’m looking forward to is Phan Rai Phai Rak starring Matt Peeranee and Film Rattapoom. It’s a compatible and interesting pairing.
I have a few more on my list, but I’m not sure if it will even film or air in 2013: Dao Kiew Deun (Janie + Aum Atichart), Rising Sun Series, the rest of Musketeers Series, Yah Leum Chan (Tik + Ann), Ton Rak Rim Rua (Mark + Kimberley).
Maybes: Ch.5 Koo Kum, Majurat See Nam Pueng (Ken T + Pichy), The Sixth Sense 2, Raak Boon 2, and I’m sure there’s more that will go on this list.
Passing: ALL Ch.7 lakorns- thanks, but no thanks.
Slim pickings you may say? I’m afraid so.. unless the other, myriad of lakorns airing in 2013 will wow me, grab my attention and surprise me. It’s happened before and I can only hope that it will happen again.
What about you, what’s on your radar?

I’m curious about the Matt/Film combo. Despite the scandal that Film’s been embroiled in, I enjoyed him in Suay Rerd Cherd Sod so I’ll be putting Phan Rai Phai Rak on my to-check-out list! Will it be a rom-com or slap-kiss?
I’m also waiting for Por/Ploy/Kant ‘Buang Brap’ but I’m not sure about the release date. And like you, I’m passing on Ch7 lakorns. lol
Not sure what genre yet, but based on the title it seems to mean “evil plan lose to love”.. so one can only imagine what the plot is about. I don’t pay too much attention to celebs real life scandals either, so don’t mind Film in this one. Like you, I did enjoy Suay Rerd. I looked at the Ploy lakorn you mentioned, but it seems to take place in the olden days (boran) and I’m not a huge fan of those types of lakorns.. so I’ll just wait for your feedback 🙂 Eh, I’m bailing out of ch.7, they just keep disappointing me!
I’m also not particularly fond of born lakorns and only one I’ve fancied so far was ‘Tard Ruk’ but the cast of ‘Buang Barp’ makes me want to at least give it a shot. haa.
I just read on Lyn’s blog that Aum and Janie are pairing up for a new lakorn ‘Dao Kiao Duen’! They look so good together in the fitting/opening ceremony pics. I guess I prefer a more mature lady with Aum which is why I’m feeling more excited for this than his lakorn with Yaya. Peter Corp is also pairing up with Margie for his next lakorn. He looks real hot in the fitting pics but .. meh, I’ve given up on liking Margie so I might give it a pass.
The upcoming lakorns I’m EXCITED to watch and is waiting for are TRRR,YLC,DKD,RP and the Suparburoot Jutathep Series especially the 2nd story, since it’s Pope! Lol.I know TRRR and DKD just started filming. Hopefully, YLC is next, since RP is almost done and about to air soon. ^^ Another lakorn I really want to watch is Manee Mala.I know they haven’t confirm who will be the nang’ek pairing along with Tik but hopefully he’s pair with someone I like. I hope more news come out. Same as you I am passing Ch7’s lakorn. I don’t think I’ll be watching any Ch5’s lakorn too.
Anything Yaya & Nadech-I will make time to watch. I am particularly excited for Nadech’s series with Kim. It looks a bit sassy & dramatic. Thats all I have on my radar at the moment. The Rising Sun series may release in 2014, according to Nadech. He said a year to a year & a half.
I may give Matt & Film a chance. Ken T. has one next year? I may make room for that one…
Thanks, Fia!
@J- indeed, Dao Kiew Deun is going to be an interesting one. Both Aum and Janie are very comfortable together because they’ve known each other for so long. I am excited to see them together again!
@A- thanks for sharing what you’re excited to watch. We seem to have similar tastes! Although, I may pass on the Jutathep series, or just watch Pope’s scenes hehe.
@Dal- The airing of Raeng Prathana is going to be bitter sweet for me. I’m not ready to say goodbye to Sangkla and Dr. Prae. I’m done with the action plot but so not done with the romance, if you know what I mean. Mark and Mint have such great chemistry, they seriously make my cheeks hurt! But on another note, I’m excited to see Nadech again. Such a tough life for us lakorn fans, eh?
My most highly anticipated lakorn for this year is most definitely Maya Tawan. I thoroughly enjoyed the older version and I’m really excited to see how both Umm and Yaya will portray their respective characters and whether there will be any sparks between them. When I watched the 4HJHKK segment of Ratree Samorsorn, I felt something between Umm and Yaya with their small interaction of Umm teasing her on set. Normally I don’t like to assume or set expectations but I can’t help to think that they’d make such a lovely pair. I’m a fan of both individually so getting the opportunity to see two favorites work together brings such excitement, never mind my childhood praek Noom Sonram will also be in here as well. It might not interest many but for me personally, I think this lakorn will be very different; no cliche, predictable storyline but rather complex characters and strong development. I’ve had enough of typical, draggy Ch3 plots so I feel like this one will be a breath of fresh air. I’ll also give the other two segments a try as well. I’m not a fan of Shahkrit, Margie, Boy or Matt but considering that all are decent actors and actresses, I’d like to be open minded and watch what they have to offer to the 3 Musketeer Series. Come to think of it, I do remember watching the older version of Fah Krajang Dao and I although my memory isn’t very clear, I do remember liking it quite a bit. So yep, my I’m keeping my eyes open for whole story. Taew is the only actress I’ve liked with Umm so far so let’s see if Yaya will also make my list.
2013 seems to be a good year for me since I’ve been waiting to finally see Yaya with someone different for a change. Not a found of Nadech, Mark or Rome so I guess I can celebrate since I finally get to see her with two actors who I actually do like.
I might watch James Jirayu and Bella Ranee’s segment of Suphap Buroot Juthathep since of all the couples and all storylines, this is the only one that interest me the most and the rest, I’ll skip out.
Ever since NBRKWJHS, I’ve become a found of Patricia (I feel like she’s a mini Yaya, Taya, Vicki and Sara and they’re all ladies that I adore) so I’ll be watching her first lakorn as a main actress in Kaen Sanaeha. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed any period type lakorns so hopefully this will be intriguing enough since I didn’t care for Wanida, Tard Rak, Khun Suek and all the recent dramas.
Let’s see what else is there. I’ll watch Majurat See Nam Pueng. Is it just me but most of Ken’s lakorns haven’t been really satisfying? The last one I remember loving is Sood Sanaeha and that was what, 2009? Yikes! I love Ken and I love him with Chompoo but both Wiwah Wah Woon and Rahut Torachon weren’t my cup of tea. I’ll hope better for their next project, Kon Ruk Strawberry. Anyways Pichy Namtan is cute and looks so compatible with Ken. I’m glad that Ken is very open minded and is willing to work with anyone. It’s nice to see him with someone fresh, young and new for a change and not just always with either Anne or Janie.
I think that’s about it for now. This year’s batch of lakorns from Channel 7 don’t seem all that engrossing and that’s really no surprise.
I sound oh so picky with this long comment of mine. eeks! =.=
Hi Sky, thanks for taking the time to share your lakorn list for 2013, that is quite the list if I do say so myself! I am curious about Patricia but I’m not a big period drama person so I’ll watch the first few episodes and see if it’ll drive me crazy first. I do agree that lately Ken T hasn’t been featured on my top lakorn list, the last one I liked was also Sood Saneha, but after watching the teaser for Majurat See Nampeung, I find him still charming. I love that lakorn fans have such different tastes in pr’eks and n’eks. I myself have a few pr’eks that I adore and will watch their lakorns no matter what: Aum Atichart, Nadech, Mark, Mario, Por T (I’m a new admirer), Chakrit, Tik Jesadaporn, Ken T.. I might forget a few more but these are the core guys I watch lakorns for. Wonderful nang’eks is just a cherry on top 🙂 I do have exceptions that I’m pretty biased towards: Ann T, Yaya, Ploy Chermarn and Matt. Other than that, if my fave pr’eks can deliver with a great storyline, I’m a happy camper.
I love how you take the chance to respond back to the viewers, thanks! I find Patricia to be really cute and her performance in NBRKWJHS was pretty decent for a newcomer. It might be a little hard for me to watch her as a nang aek since I think back to reality where she’s only 15 but I guess this is the big test to see whether she’s convincing enough in her role where I can forget that she’s still so young. I want to see how she delivers as a sweet, prim and proper girl. a contrast to the slightly mischievous Noi na. I do like period lakorns but it’s rare for me to find one that I like enough to watch the whole thing.
Indeed, it’s interesting to see how so many different people have different taste it actors and actresses. There’s a reason why there’s so many in the showbiz right? 🙂 For current actors I favor, Umm Atichart, Por Thrisadee and Mario Maurer. My beloved actresses are Noon Woranuch, Chompoo Araya and Yaya Urassaya. There’s others who I do like as well but the ones I’ve mentioned are those who I’d watch their lakorn regardless of who they pair up with. Everyone else, I’m neutral with. If their works sound appealing, I’d be more than happy to give them a try.
This year there are a lot of lakorns I want to watch. I’m with you on the 3 above, but I also want to watch the other 2 lakorns of the Musketeers Series as I also like Shakrit and Matt a lot. I’m also excited for the Supaburoot Jutathep Series as there is Great and Pope in it and the long awaited pairing of Ann and Tik in Ya Leum Chun. I will also skip the Ch7 lakorns of this year. I tried to read your recaps of The Accident, but although I like your writings I couldn’t get myself to read it all. The story was just too dragging for me. CH7 showed me once again that their dragging storytelling especially when the ratings are high is not my cup of tea.
Sounds like a wonderful list 🙂 I’m going to continue going back in time to watch more of Por Thrisadee’s drama, I’m currently obsessed over him!
