Tono the Tiger

lovefia

Posted on November 4, 2021

Today I watched Tono’s Love in the Twilight, or Prajan Daeng (Blood Moon) and I must say, it turned out to be different than what I was expecting. If you recall, Tono was in Duangjai Nai Montra where he played a cursed immortal trying to find a way to end his immortality, so I thought Prajan Daeng may be another cursed predicament of his. But in fact, Prajan Daeng is about Sama who shapeshifts into Tiger Payak, an honorable tiger spirit that protects the wild animals in rural town Dok Daeng. This responsibility usually falls on the village chief (or heir), but Sama (who thinks he is unlucky at a young age) was given the tiger spirit as the chief passes away in his…

*SPOILERS* Character Review and 1st Impressions – Kaen Rak Salap Chatha

lovefia

Posted on June 16, 2021

If you are watching this newest weekend installment, Kaen Rak Salap Chatha – which of course you can head on over to Neko’s for that – you already know two episodes in that this show is surprisingly good. It has a great directorial hand, gritty and stark, matching the tone of this show. The editing is so smooth, you are left to focus solely on the characters, their desperate plight and how they will get out of the situation. By situation, I mean the body swapping, destiny swapping debacle caused by the blood moon. I have written a synopsis on the previous post, so you can get the full details there, but this post will focus on character review and juicy spoilers that you…

Mon Rak Nong Pak Kayang – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on May 17, 2021

While the title can be a mouthful, its name will soon roll off the tip of your tongue once you get to know the charming little village it is named after: Nong Pak Kayang (translated as Perilla Field House). Located in Northeastern Thailand, Nong Pak Kayang – its town, townsfolk and abundant land – is a central character to this story about a country bumpkin turn city dweller named Kiew (which means green), who inadvertently returns to his Isan roots after the city broke his heart.

Barb Ayuttitham (Injustice Sin) – Eternal’s 1st Impressions/Recap

lovefia

Posted on March 29, 2021

Are you feeling blood thirsty lately? Not enough revenge plots in your drama life at the moment? Barb Ayuttitham may be the show you need to get your heartrate up a bit. It is a fast-paced lakorn following the story of Chittawan Phitsunawadee (Boy Pakorn) whom we first meet in prison. He’s been serving 11 years in jail for a crime he did not commit. Newly minted attorney Plaifon Tiyakul (Yeena Salas) is determined to reopen Tawan’s case, but she needs his permission first. Tension mounts in their first meeting as Plaifon makes her plea with Tawan. She remarks that her professor, who had been his attorney at the time, has been greatly disappointed by the verdict of the court since he believed wholeheartedly…

Koo Kaen Saen Rak – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on February 26, 2021

Koo Kaen Saen Rak (The Beloved Foes) starring Mookda and Mike Pattaradet follows the story of a conniving real estate family who is after the last piece of land that is standing in the way of their new development. Mike Pattaradet plays Songkran Thanakun, the only son of Thanakun family who is raised to be a tiger; to be merciless in the boardroom and the bedroom. Songkran is a single dad, but that doesn’t stop his philandering game. He is tasked to acquire the final piece of land by the river, but the landowner by the name of Saeng Nawarat is a stubborn farmer, who refuses to sell due to sentimental reasons – the land is his late wife’s beloved property. Therefore, no amount…

It All Begins at the Sea – Talay Luang

lovefia

Posted on January 26, 2021

It really does begin at the sea. His new name “Talay” derives from the sea, where Moya (Sammy Cowell) rescues him from the depths. His condition may have seen better days, as they surface for air, she could see the cuts and bruises, and the blood seeping from his facial wounds. Moya is an optimist, and a warm-hearted person, so she takes him to the shore of Nupda Island and her resort Plaifah, in order to save his life. Just a moment before, “Talay” (Mik Thongraya) was Natee (or Tee), a man who recently returned to Thailand after his father threatened to cut ties with him, it is all too late (in cutting ties) because Natee’s father ends up dying from a car accident…

Dao Kon La Duang – First Impressions

lovefia

Posted on January 25, 2021

Craving for an action drama? Perhaps with a love triangle? Dao Kon La Duang may be of interest to you. Taking over Monday-Tuesday timeslot on Channel 3, and produced by Arlong Production, we have Grate Warintorn starring as Thanat (or Nat), a police captain who undergoes a hostage rescue mission gone bad. While risking his life to save the last two hostages, the entire cabin explodes, and he is presumed dead. Leaving behind a very distraught love interest, Dr. Chalanthorn played by Boom Suphaphorn, who has now lost two people whom she cared deeply about (the first was her little sister from a car explosion.) Which is why, after mourning for three years, Chalanthorn (or Lan) decides to live in the present and give…

Life Imitating Art in Mia Jum Pen

lovefia

Posted on January 24, 2021

The latest weekend installment, Mia Jum Pen or “Wife on Duty”, is a “remake” from its counterpart in 2001. I put remake in quotes because this year’s take on Mia Jum Pen does away with the outdated notions in the old version. In fact, if any of the plot was borrowed, it is created in almost a meme worthy way, which is so totally today. The first episode does not even go into the plot much (because how typical and drab would that be?) instead, show likes to be extra and introduce us to our two leads as Tomorn (Mai Warit) and Tawan (Pie Rinrada), as the lakorn addicts that fall into two camps: (1) those that watch lakorns live and (2) those that…

Check in & My Husband In Law 1st Impressions

lovefia

Posted on April 21, 2020

Hello to my dearest friends. Lakorn viewers. Good story enthusiasts. Fellow fangirls (fanboys). How are you faring in the midst of this pandemic? I hope this post finds you well in both body, mind and spirit. It will end, and we will all change because of it, but we are stronger and know what matters the most. For me, that is coffee, sleep, good company (with 6 feet distancing) and good entertainment (however you define the source of entertainment).

First Look: Rak Jang Aoey

lovefia

Posted on March 25, 2019

Rak Jang Aoey is the newest mid-week primetime romcom offering from Channel 3, produced by Metha Lae Mahaniyom and starring our lovely Taew Natapohn. What’s unique about this show is that it’s not a remake of other lakorns or based off a popular book, it’s an original script from the dynamic duo husband and wife Nok (Chatchai and Sinjai). I have enjoyed two of their directorial offerings, Tawan Deard and Khunchai Ronnapee, so let’s hope this is a third one. Rak Jang Aoey means “love you very much” with the nang ek’s name “Aoey” thrown in for a play on word. Taew portrays a spoiled character, Doctor Pailin or Doctor Aoey, who thinks she is perfect but admittedly has no idea what perfection looks…
