Happy Hallloweeeen My Dear Readers!
Who here loves Halloween? It’s a month of spookiness celebrated in the US- where kids and adults get to be whomever they wish for one day. What do you want to be? Are you dressing up this year?
It’s a madness month for me, work and life is equally busy, prompting me to wish for more hours in a day so I can do everything I don’t have time to do- such as read the stack of ebooks waiting for me, blog, watch my American TV shows and Thai lakorns. My team at work intended to be a group of superheroes, but alas, some people just can’t pull through. ‘Tis the life of a discombobulated, dysfunctional group.
Halloween also marks the end of the month, which means we’ve only two more months until the end of the year- not to mention the year in review! I want time to stop or just slow the hell down. I’m still attempting to recap Hormones the Series- at a very slow pace I might add- but there is this one project that’s been gnawing at me since the onset of this blog: NaNoWriMo 2013, which really means, National Novel Writing Month hosted by WordPress. And I’m just talking out loud.. but who here wants to join me in writing something (50K words) in a month? Sounds exciting? Intimidating? And absolutely time consuming? Mayhaps I need to bow out of this one even before starting, ha. Where am I going to find the time? I have two days left to decide!
So what’s up with your life? What lakorns are you watching? What the heck is going on in the lakornblogosphere?
I’m looking back over the year so far of drama watching. I watched about 5 lakorns such as.Raeng Pratana, Marjurat See Nampueng and Sood Sai Pan, but I realized that I wouldn’t classify any as “great” or “excellent.”
Anyone have any recommendations? Those are the only new lakorns I’ve watched this year. I’m thinking about Kim’s or Janie’s lakorns. I think they would be okay, but I’m looking for WOW, not okay.
Hmm let me wrack my brains. I usually save this for the end of the year, ha! I think it’s difficult to find wow lakorns on an annual basis, if at all, one that satisfies me on the acting, directing and writing level. Or one that leaves my heart in my throat from beginning to end. I should also signify that wow to me is on the level of Sood Saneha, Sawan Biang, even Game Rai Game Rak (check ratings page.) Unfortunately this year, I haven’t been wowed yet- but I got certainly close. I’d give a cigar for that.
-The gentlemen series: story 2, 3, 4, 5, especially 2 and 5, my heart goes out to Khunchai Ronnapee. The whole series is not perfect but has a lot of heart.
-Mon Jantra: Chakrit chakrit chakrit. It’s also a nice short, action story and goes right to the heart of the matter.
-Dao Kiaw Duen: it’s a beautifully shot story, but haven’t gotten me on the level of fangirling that I’m used to for a wow lakorn. So I won’t categorize as wow. But certainly entertaining and unique.
I’ve skipped and dropped a bunch of other channel 3 lakorns, while finding another list of lakorns that I did finish, rather boring. I’ll name names during my year end review.
All in all, I think the gentlemen series still managed to stay on top for all of the lakorns that aired this year.
Any channel 5,9,7 enthusiasts out there that can chime in about any lakorns that wowed you this year?
Easy.
KOO GUM 2013
And I am serious, if you want a WoW lakorn.
I know a lot of ppl have a lot of doubt about the cast, me included but this lakorn blew me away! I started the lakorn with a lot of Bias, but 3 episodes in and I was sold. Just know that Khun Boy (Ch5 Big Boss) worked on this lakorn and worked with Bie for 5 years to prepare this lakorn. The script is one of the most profound lakorn scripts I have seen in a long, long time. The characters’ conservations are meaningful and thought-provoking. Exact has always had great production value, nothing looks cheap, and editing/special effects were well done. The chemistry between Bie and Noona was so amazing, everyone is now hailing that Bie has finally found his on screen kookwan.
I’m a little sad that so many lakorn fans haven’t not seen this lakorn because Koo Gum 2013 is a masterpiece.
And yes Lovefia, I think because KooGum was a Ch5 lakorn, it lacked that much needed promotion. You too need to watch KooGum. If you enjoy Hormones, and we both enjoy DKD, know that you will Love KooGum.
@Kashie, thanks for chiming in. Regarding Koo Gum, I’m torn. A part of me wants to see it, but the other part still wants to keep the Koo Gum that I love (P’Bird’s version) memorialized. Maybe one day I’ll check it out. Lately I haven’t been in the mood for angst and tragic endings.
Hopefully we’ll have more romcoms or something wonderful before the end of the year.
hey fia, i’ve signed up for NaNo 2013 and like you, I’m wondering when I’ll find the time, wit work, kids, hubby and life. it’s gonna take lots of adjustments to pull it off and it’s my first NaNo too.
as for lakorns, i finished watching sud sai pan, caught up with maya see mook, still watching hua jai reua puang and up to episode 3 of sixth sense 2. thinking about going hiatus for sixth sense, and started watching taiwan dramas again. but i’ll switch back to ss2 once it’s complete and enter marathon mode.
oh yeah, have you heard of the new kdrama called secret lovers/ secret?
Do you have an idea on what you’ll be writing about? Share your blog name for the rest of us so we can follow and cheer you on 🙂
You did good with the lakorn lineup! As for kdrama, I don’t follow/watch on a daily basis so no idea what’s new. I do on occasion check out some dramas on netflix, but usually when they’re super old, heeh.
my story is about a witch.i got the idea from a dream i had and just couldn’t let it go. and within a day i wrote out a 3 part series outline. although today i rethought about making book two a sort of intermission-a collection of short stories of what happens between book 1 and 2, that’ll also serve as an introduction of the new characters, who’ll be appearing in book 2.
with american horror story coven, and the heavy usage of vampire and werewolf genre, people would think that it’s been done too many times already. but my story won’t follow the traditional themes of overly sexed or sexy witches, witches with green skin or ugly witches and whatever cliche witch theme out there. there are some loosely historical facts that appears in the story too.
decided to post my progress on my blog, and to warn you, i’m so new to blogging, it’s unbelievable. i’m trying the blog a book method and still tinkering things here and there on my site, iheartallstories.weebly.com. as for my username on NaNo, it’s lidywilks. And something tells me i’m going to need all the support i can get, so thank you, thank you, ahead of time.
can you believe it’s October 30th already!? NaNo is 2 days away!
Intriguing premise, Lidy, I would be curious to see where you take it. I’m still hemming and hawing about this, coz it’ll be about 1600 words a day, for 30 days. Daunting. Good luck, you got this.
Wow! NaNoWriMo sounds amazing! It’d be a great way to wrack my creative juices, and a real challenge relevant to my Creative Writing class. I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog too, but I just can’t seem to commit to it :/
Life is currently made up of the typical college factors of homework, work, student orgs, etc…I really need to step out break routine and try something new…
Hope you have a great Halloween!
You would have my support if you decide to start one. It’s totally relevant to your college class too. NaNo is a great way to start dabbling in blogging 🙂
Fia, thanx for your support
Jjinxx, what fia says is true. My college professor/advisor always had us create/build web pages for our end of semester book reports, and had to presnt before the class. I am so greatful to her foe believing that we english majors needed some technology/web knowledge. Otherwise i’d be completely lost navigating those web building sites, now that I’ve started blogging. And this was all the way back before 2005. If you can commit yourself to 500+ words and regular/scheduled posts, you can do it
Hmm…I understand that it’s recommended for bloggers to utilize domains, correct? And pay a monthly fee to have domain (am I using the right term?) sort of back up your blog, because free blog sites can’t be controlled?
Ah, that’s very much a misconception. My blog is through wordpress and I don’t have a domain registered to it- although I thought about it- and it only costs $18/year, which is affordable! However, I’ve been hemming and hawing about it, because that sets up an expectation for myself to constantly keep it updated. When you have a blog through wordpress, you can opt to pay for a custom design etc, I paid for my layout because I like the way it looks- but when I initially started blogging, I did everything for free. And it’s very easy to control. You can review your comments, look at your stats etc. So essentially to answer your question, wordpress is an excellent platform to have a blog which is literally free, with little to no knowledge about web design required. Hope that helps! Any further questions about starting a blog can be directed to my email, we can get down to the nitty gritty: lovefia1210@gmail.com.
No Lakorn about Chef! That is good!
Summary of Paab Atarn ep.7 by Patty:
I think that Gade might be a bitch, but at least she is the bitch with good intention of caring for the safety of Chedta from the crutch of Payong spirit. Which is more I can say for Anongwadi? I give her an A effort for doing something to get Neung back from Payong Ghost. O.K. on with the summary:
We open to the ep. 7 with Neung hang out at his night club listening to the music. All the suddenly, light out. Noy and Look Sawad panic of the darkness just like it is used to be. Look Sawad point out, that Khung Payong is missing from the picture.
Then we have Payong sitting besides Chedta cozy with him. She take him to her room I thinks, she show him how they used to love with each other very much. Until he betray her trust and hurt her emotionally, by bring a wife home.
In their vision of their past life, Nueng apologize for hurt Khung Payong feeling. Payong slap him in his face, she will never forgive him. She called him a liar because his promise is a lie (empty promises). He never cares about her feeling. Later on; the maid discovered Neung missing again for the 3rd times. She told Anongwadi about Neung missing, Anongwadi order every employee to looking for him. They still could not find him. Gade suggested destroying Payong painting then they will find Neung. While they were searching for Neung, Gade was sleeping; Khun Payong pays her visited and slapping her in the face while she was sleeping. She also shows her in her past life, Gade was whipped in the back by the order of Khun Payong. She is woken up startled and start challenging Khun Payong spirit again.
In the meantime, Khun Snow and Manut came to the night club looking for Neung. While the people inside the Sa Mo Sarn were looking for Neung, Khun Noy warns Payong that someone is coming.
Khun Payong hurried back inside the picture, while Khun Manut saw the whole thing. Khun Snow also saw a little girl running around, when she turned around, the little girl she saw is in the portrait. They are in the state of shock.
Gade was piss that Khun Chuad Payong did not returned Neung yet, so she threatened Payong to annihilate her picture if she did not let Neung go with the knife. She is about to do it but Manut stop her. They have found Neung, but he is still daze from Payong Ghostly magic. After Neung returned, all he did is sleep. He talk in his sleep and called for Payong name. After Neung returned, Gade refused to leave his side. Khun Snow and Manut worried about his condition, so they went to the Thai Temple to ask for the monk for help. The Monk gives them Holy Water to put on Chedta. When they put Holy Water on Neung, it works. Neung got better.
Anongwadi had decided to remove Khun Chuad Payong portrait into the storage room. So she asked for Chedta permission, and he nodded his head, yes. She invited the monk and they are doing a ceremony to secure the spirit of Payong not to hurt anyone by using magic rope that the monk has. They tied the rope around Khun Payong portrait. Then they moved her picture, put in the storage room, and lock the door. Khun Noy, Look Sawad, and Klup could not do anything to help her.
After they removed the portrait of Khun Payong, Klup felt guilty for broken the promises that he had with Jao Praya (Khun’s Payong father) that he will protected Khun Payong with his life.
That night, Poo Klup came inside the building of the mansion, wai, and asked for forgiveness toward (where they used to be Khun Payong portrait) Payong, Jao Praya, and Khun Ying. That night Neung could not sleep, so he came downstairs and he saw Poo Klup. He was curious about Khun Payong, so he asked a lot of questions, but Klup refused to answer anything. He known that Khun Payong have a lover and he asked Poo Klup that WHO IS TAN JAO KHUN?
End of Episode 7
Here is the summary of Paab Ataan ep. 8 by Patty:
Where we left off from last episode, Neung interrogating Poo Klup about Khun Payong and Tan Jao Khun (her’ s lover ). Khun Noy warn Poo Klup not to say anything, so Poo Klup told Neung, “in due time you will know everything”. Since Poo Klup refuses to tell him what he wants to know, Neung go to Khun Payong portrait (in the storage room) and asked her about it.
Khun Payong spirited tried to used her hypnotize power to persuade Neung to let her go. Neung is about to untie the magic rope, but Anongwadi stop him. Then Anongwadi pass out so Neung carried her out of the storage room while Payong ghost called him to come back, don’t go.
To Be Continue………
wow, there are 6 hrs and 33 min until NaNo. Starting to get nervous. Are you still undecided about entering fia? Meanwhile if you see any post from me during this time feel free to give me a blog kick in the butt
You are making me nervous, hee. I’ve decided to start one- already registered! (Lovefia is the username, since Fia has already been taken! What do you mean I’m not unique??) I’m going to use my secondary blog to this one, which from the onset is a place to house my retired fan fics and old stories. I’ll revamp the site and get it ready for NaNo. And no, I’ve no idea what I’ll be writing about- yikes! Maybe it’s a novel, maybe it’s something else.. I’m sure I’ll figure it out along the way. We have 30 days!
P.S. I’ll be sure to follow your NaNo 🙂
cool we can be writing buddies! i’ll follow your NaNo too. would love to begin at 12 on the dot, but i have to wake up before 6am to catch the bus to work, sigh. good thing for me, that i already know how to start my novel. just have to write it out, then commit my lunch hour and after kids are put to bed, to type it all out.
as for an idea how about rom-com where a lakorn blogger accidentally meets her favorite new male dara visiting the states for a shoot/movie/cf, and gets to spend several days with him, pretending to go along with his misunderstanding that she doesn’t know who he is
Omg, that would hit too close to home! I would be the lakorn blogger (but probably 10 years younger) and meeting the celeb of choice! Ha. Thanks for the dream. I’m brainstorming today and my goal is to have an outline by Sunday night. We SHALL see. You know, I’m always shooting for the stars. Good luck with your NaNo!
