OH HO. Two more great episodes for maximum pain and revelations. And while we are at it, please give me holy water so that I may rid a certain someone of his possessed noble father.

*Author’s note: I should be packing but dang it, just one more episode…am I really going to download 11-12 for my flight? You already guessed the answer to that.

Episode 9 & 10 Recap

After the hot moment shared by the two, Khun Petch tells Dujupsorn not to come out of her room because he can’t guarantee what will happen next. Dujupsorn asks him why he would knock on her door if he’s telling her to stay put. Khun Petch shuts his eyes, praying for the will not to open the door further, and says he’s worried about her (because of the storm). He reaches over the threshold of the door that separates them and places his hand on hers. Gah. Don’t be afraid, I am right here he says. Khun Petch may have unceremoniously washed away her fears of the storm by replacing them with a sweet memory. The two lean against the door, relishing the moment.

The morning after the kiss – Dujupsorn avoids the awkwardness by leaving before him. She leaves him a note about her appointment with the media and that she will see him later at work. Smooth. But at the lunch stall with her bestie, Dujupsorn nearly dies from the aftermath of the kiss. While she swears never to drink again, she squeals that it was amazing – LMAO – I love her. Her friend teases her and asks the important question, what are you going to do now? You have to work with the man everyday. Dujupsorn sobers up and says she needs to stop this, that she should stop this and resign despite loving the job so much.

Awkwardness cannot be avoided though when they meet again. It was so cute. Even on their car ride back, both are shy and awkward (I could watch them ride in the car all day), but returning to the city means it is time to face reality. Khun Poom has decided that today onwards, he is going to pursue Dujupsorn seriously. Oh, brother. I mean, Oh, cousin. The driver peers at Khun Petch (the driver is me) while Khun Petch peers at Khun Poom and takes a step back. Literally and figuratively. He leaves them to chat. Khun Poom clarifies his intentions with Dujupsorn. He first asks if she wants him to disappear from her life. Dujupsorn could feel her mother’s eyes on her and admitted that having him around had helped her. She’s not lying. Khun Poom beams at her words, he says that if they were to have a relationship, it has to be on good footing. That means he has to ensure his Khun Petch does not have real feelings for her. But he will keep his promise to stay by her side.

Our lovely driver has a word with the still confused Khun Petch. He says that if he were the eldest, he would only step aside if the feelings between the other two are mutual, because why can’t the eldest be happy too if the woman loves him back? Khun Petch wonders out loud how one would know who the lady likes. I mean, the mutual kiss is a good indicator, bruh.

Meanwhile, Dujupsorn tells Aunt that being home made her want to move back. Aunt asks whether she really wants to go home or is just trying to run away from her feelings. Mom accuses Dujupsorn of falling in love with Khun Petch, and predicts that it will only lead to ruin. She adds that the men in that family would only use and then discard her. Strangely enough, Mom’s prediction seems to have come true. The marketing director wanted to ruin Dujupsorn’s reputation and released gossip that Khun Petch had slept with her and then dumped her. He’s even planning to transfer her out of his company.

Say, what? Dujupsorn is devastated by the rumors and wonders when they will call cut. She is done with this charade. Khun Petch is not aware of the rumors. He based his decision to transfer her on the ironic notion of not wanting her reputation to be ruined. He thinks it would be more appropriate to hire a male PR person and works behind the scenes to get her a job at Khun Phu’s mall. All of this occurred after he had asked Mom why she decided to run away to Europe back then. Mom said that she felt guilty for taking Khun Chai Yai away from Khun Kate, and moving far away absolved some of that guilt. But inevitably, they could not run away from their feelings. It seems like Khun Petch didn’t consider the “inevitable” aspect and decided that since he had to travel to Chiang Mai frequently to oversee the business there, he needed to make sure he stayed away from Dujupsorn for Khun Poom’s benefit.

Dujupsorn thanked him for the explanation when they were finally alone and able to face each other. However, even though that was Khun Petch’s rationalization, his feelings about it were written all over his face. Oof. Handsy for a man who is ready to let it all go.

Fortunately everyone else around them seems to see it. The four monkeys had a secret meeting without the eldest monkey, hoping to do damage control. They eventually left it up to Khun Jak (Khun Poom’s older bro) to settle it for Khun Petch. There is something about being the youngest and provoking your brother. Khun Poom confronts his older cousin to get to the bottom of his feelings for Dujupsorn. He asks Khun Petch point blank if he likes Dujupsorn. Khun Petch looks away, pain in his eyes, and says that if Khun Poom likes her, he would support them. Khun Poom calls him out for not answering the question. Then he LIES through his teeth that he does not like her. Khun Poom asks a very important question if I marry her, would you regret it for the rest of your life? I spy with my little eye, a liar. Khun Petch says no, he would not regret it. The most stubborn award goes to..

Dujupsorn submits her letter of resignation. Khun Petch’s resolve does not last long as he chases after her to stop her, even steps in front of the taxi cab. They have their spat near the park. She observed that what happened must have made him uncomfortable. Note that she did not say she was uncomfortable after the kiss *smirks*. Khun Petch apologizes for transferring her without discussing it with her first. But then he puts his boss hat on and says he won’t let her quit. There is a clause in her contract that she has to give him a month’s notice. I see you, Khun Petch. Dujupsorn peers at his level of petty and assures him that she will give him a month’s notice AND find him a suitable replacement. Why do I love their quarrel so much? This loser, I still love him so.

Khun Petch goes to Aunt’s dessert shop knowing full well Dujupsorn won’t be there cos she’s on a date with Khun Poom. If that is not loser behavior, I do not know what is. Khun Petch tells Aunt that he wants his favorite dessert before he leaves for Chiang Mai. Aunt (one of my favourites in this show) asks him if he knows the history of his favorite dessert. It is a yellow-colored, crown-shaped dessert called “jah-mongkut,” which used to be called Tong Ake before being renamed based on its shape. Aunt asks him if he would still like the dessert if he learns that it is not what he knows it to be. Khun Petch questions what Aunt is trying to tell him, so Aunt says that some things we see are not always the truth. Khun Petch stares at his favorite dessert for a minute and answers Aunt’s question, it doesn’t matter what the name is, because what he likes is the real thing, not its name. That’s my boy.

Aunt also works her magic with Dujupsorn, asking her what she plans to do now. Dujupsorn says that she’s not a very good person and the heavens will protect good people like Khun Poom and Khun Petch from the evil likes of her. She will not pursue any of them and will opt to return home if what she learned about her mother’s past is not the truth.

So, Dujupsorn embarks on a mission to uncover more about Wilairampa – her mother’s past – leading to a revelation that alters her charade. At Dhewaprom’s palace, grandpa tells Dujupsorn that Wilairampa grew up counting on marrying Khun Chai Phee because of the promise between Juthathep and Dhewaprom. She believes that Khun Chai Phee feels the same way about her, and feels betrayed that another woman stole him away. Dujupsorn realizes that while her mother lied, her suffering was real. This is what I love about Dujupsorn, she is protective of her mother and so empathetic, even though she knows her mother was in the wrong. Which makes her likeable, despite the crazy charade she puts on.

Khun Jak and Daddy Chai Phee try to talk Khun Poom out of pursuing the woman that Khun Petch likes. And much to their surprise and mine, Khun Poom makes himself 100 times more likeable by being the Cupid instead of the Rival. He asks Dad whether the older man ever experienced a fondness for someone that may not be romantic. It is called platonic, my dear Cousin Poom. Daddy Chai Phee relents that he had that feeling for Wilairampa, but she took it the wrong way, she interpreted it as romantic feelings. Khun Poom says he will be the person who will bring these two stubborn people together. Huzzah.

Dujupsorn decides she would disappear from everyone in Bangkok and return to Chiang Mai once her mother gets the needed treatment. She believes that her mother would not approve of her relationship with Khun Petch. However, things take a dramatic turn when Khun Chavit catches her leaving the Dhewaprom’s palace. He confronts her, and she confesses her true identity to him, asking for his help and begging him not to tell anyone, especially Khun Petch. Khun Chavit then demands that Dujupsorn brings her mother to apologize to great granny and the Juthatheps, which upsets Dujupsorn. She explains that her mother’s threatening letters to great granny, of which she did not know, are nothing compared to the suffering her mother has endured for decades. This leaves Dujupsorn in tears, and Khun Chavit apologizes for making that demand after witnessing her distress.

Comments

While that was painful to see the separation of Khun Petch and Dujupsorn after they shared a searing kiss, I daresay I am so happy we have moved past the hidden identity (at least one person knows), the revelations, and the fake love triangle. These two episodes were great, in that we have five more to focus on the healing and revealing of the direct descendant of the youngest (and most effective villain) of the Dhewaprom.

Plus, we have to deal with the pesky Khun Saruch who is still married and swindling money from Lisa. He is up to no good. I love that Khun Petch does not mince words when he gives the gossipmongers the final warning. Dujupsorn also finds a good replacement for her position (the funny Looksorn).

I am so ready for the making-up part, because isn’t that why lakorn couples fight?
