The holiday months are creeping right around the corner with the end of the year looming ahead. Not to mention, the year in review, which I have a feeling that my list is as uncomprehensive as it will be. After the Rising Sun series ended, and after discovering my awesomely life changing news, I’ve been away from lakorns. But mind you, that has only been a few weeks.
Although, could you really blame me? The current lineup has little to be desired, at least for me:
Ch. 3 Plerng Chimplee, Malee Rerng Rabum, Rai Rak Payak Kungfu
Ch. 7 Kularp Len Fai, Prao, Ngao
Other: Likay Likay, Songkram Nang Ngarm, Prao Mee Tur
Initially I was interested in following Prao, but after the first couple of episodes, I was turned off by Prao herself – played by Aump Patcharapa – who pales so much in comparison to Alin who was a diva but so loveable. If I were to choose a premise of a celebrity brat, I would rather go back to Sood Saneha.
I’ve also tuned into Plerng Chimplee, but couldn’t get past the plot or the pairing. Am I losing interest in an actor whom I’ve adored for so long – Aum Atichart – or has he picked up some bad lineups recently that he’s losing his charm? Even muscles can’t keep me glued to the tv.
MAYBE I’m just not in the state of mind to enjoy the offerings of lakorns at this time. I am however, looking forward to future lineups – although I’m not exactly sure when they’ll air:
Neung Nai Suang, Ka Badin, Lom Sorn Rak, Mafia Luerd Mungkorn Series, Tarm Rak Keung Jai
I may check these out as well: Suey Rai Sai Lub for Alex Rendell, and Kaew Ta Waan Jai for Mint Chalida.
If you haven’t had enough of mafias in general, then you’ll be excited for Mafia Luerd Mungkorn Series where four men (Ananda, Tik, Ken and Andrew), and a lady (Janie) take on their individual mafia world. Veteran lakorn actors are collaborating in a series spearheaded by Act Art Production, is this too good to be true? Maybe, maybe not.
I’m just in the mood for a good romcom, where can I find such a treasure these days?
I recommend you Kularb Len Fai. Now/Nao tisanart is stunning and two other female leads are pretty too. Vee has great chemistry with Nao. The story line is fast pacing and things are relatable.
Thanks for the rec. I follow darkness and just based on the plot and characters, I’m going to pass on this one. I hate douche bag pr’eks 🙂 glad to hear you’re enjoying it though!
You know what Fia? That’s what I thought too. I was bored and accidentally watched it. 3:1 ratio is so unfair. And I don’t like Vee too. I didn’t know the synopsis but just the guy’s a player.
Oh,I forgot you’re pregnant. The lakorn is a little rai. 3 or should I say 2 girls fighting for a man. 2 pathetic one-sided men. One sadist.
Ugh I’m waiting for Ka Badin and the MLM Series as well, all the new lakorns airing are so boring. This always happens to me during the last quarter of the year, nothing interesting airs but as soon as it hits the new year, I have tons to watch.
Then we just have 2.5 months to endure! Ugh.
I hope! I hope! I hope to see the Mafia series! Thanks for the head up on Chimplee and I agree, love Aum but I’ve been disappointed with him lately. I was going to watch Prao but now you’ve convinced me not to. I’ll watch your recommend instead. Not easy finding the latest dramas on sites other than Viki lately. Guess I will wait for the downloads. Thanks for the great article!
Right, hopefully next year we’ll have better lineups! I’ll post my thoughts on the upcoming ones that I will air soon. 🙂
Have I thought about Vill and Toomtam Lakorn from CH:5- Ngao Jai ??? They already finish filming but still editing, not sure when will it be on.
Sorry, I meant to say have “you” though ….
Do you know what it’s about? I liked Toomtam from Pan Rai Pan Rak and won’t mind watching him again, but Exact dramas are sooo dramatic, I have to be in a good state of mind to handle it. Hopefully this is a romcom? hehe.
Honestly, 2014 has been a year of disappointing lakorns. I seriously do not have any favorite 2014 lakorns, though I’ve watched like 4 of them.
I’m looking forward to Krating from the Mafia series because of Ken-Cherry and Kaew Tah Waan Jai for Chalida. That’s pretty much it for me for my anticipated lakorns. I may tune in for Ka Badin for my JMa 🙂
I usually don’t watch CH.7 lakorns, Kularb Len Fai seems pretty interesting, but like you, Fia, I don’t like douche bag p’eks. The girls are beautiful though. Overall, nothing is interesting at this point.
I hope to find my new obsession soon, because I don’t like staying away from lakorns for too long. I’m looking forward to Andrew-Taew pairing for Mafia series, since I heart Andrew and haven’t seen him on the small screen for a long time. Cherry is looking mighty lovely in Krating!
Definitely love JMa, so will have to persevere through boran lakorns, can’t wait to see him being the elephant man. I don’t watch Ch.7 lakorns either since they’re not readily available (i.e. on youtube..) and takes too much effort to surf for them. They’re quality is not up to par with Ch.3 in terms of cinematography. I like HD! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something that catches your fancy soon!
Hi Fia,
I’m not sure if the Lakorn “Ngao jai” is a romcom but I did see a clip where it is a bit funny but over-reacting.
But here is what I got from Viki.com- I’m just copying and pasting what they had so the credit goes to that person.
-dont sue meeh !!! Lol !!!
It’s a remake of Kob and Brook Lakorn.

* This drama tells the story of two male twins who were separated from each other, leading completely different lived. One twin belongs to the high society in the big city while the other one leads a modest but good life in the countryside. When the twin from the big city is killed, the father of the city twin asks the countryside twin to take the place of his deceased twin, leading a life under his name. By pretending to be his unknown brother they hope to find his killer. The main heroine is the bride-to-be of the twin from the big city. But their engagement is only based of a business deal and not of affection. When his brother replaces him, she doesn’t notice the substitution at first and marries him anyway. But she gradually begins to realize that he is a different man, falling slowly in love with his different attitude.
*i actually watch Vill and Toomtam first Lakorn “Sud San Paan”, it was really good untill Ep 7 or 8 when they drag it too long. But let me know what u though.
ThanX
Omg, I’m also looking forward to Andrew and Taew in Mafia series as well !!! I’m a Anderw Fan but really picky. but I think his Lakorn won’t air yet… Isn’t he in the 4th series?? that’s sooooo long !!! I’m gonna try to watch Tik and Mew. I love Mew from “Khun Chai Pawornruj” – Gentalmen series.
(all thanX to ur review Fia)
A late congrats to you and your husband. My aunt didn’t start a family until her late 30s.
Anyway I would recommend It’s Okay That’s Love (kdrama). The premise is taboo in most Asian countries dealing with mental health and well being. It is well balanced in comedy, drama, angst and romance.
I too have been steering away from lakorns and back to American TV shows.
Oh yes, I’m really in love with my American tv shows currently – which is keeping me entertained until another good lakorn happens by. I’m not sure if I want to get back into Kdrama watching, but will add this to my list – thank YOU for the rec as well as the well wishes, Fun!
P’Fia, there’s a new jdrama entitled Kyou Wa Kaisha Yasumimasu. It’s airing with pretty high ratings in Japan now. I am watching them subbed on gooddrama.net. I just saw the 1st episode and it was real good!! Not looking forward to any for the time.
Hey fia I’m agreeing with you that the latest crop in lakorns has not kept any of my interests and the same goes for kdramas as well. I’m so happy that I have my american shows because I would just be bored all day long. I especially enjoy new shows jane the virgin and gothem.
But if you want to watch a good rom com I remember one from a while back called City Hall. Its a k drama from 2010/11 I think about a clumsy, oddball female protagonist who unexpectantly becomes her towns first female mayor candidate. It stars kim su ah from my name is kim sam soon (the kdrama that made hyun bin the star he is since it had 60% ratings).
