Happy October! Where I come from, this is an exciting month. We have fall, pumpkin patches, spiced lattes, and Halloween- not to mention the scary themes that tv shows and the silver screen takes on. Unfortunately, I am not there.. but instead, I get to enjoy warm climates, great food and lots of lakorns/movies!
This week, I will reflect upon Roy Mai’s latest episodes (9,10). I will also delve back into Kon Ruk Luang Jai (ep 4+). Earlier I watched Tawee Pope up to ep 5 and will get back into it. I may wait to write an entire review instead of reflections. As far as next lakorns to watch, I have somewhat of a list, but not sure at what priority. Care to share what I should watch next?
-Nai Roy Ruk
-Roy Marn
-Noon’s new lakorn
And I have a stack of movies on my desk that I just bought from the movie store..
-My Best Bodyguard
-Saranae Siblor
-Friendship
-Lulla Man
-Suckseed
-Loser Lover
-Hello Stranger
-Dear Galileo
Thoughts?
What do you think about watching the lakorn with Namfon Patcharin and Art Pasut?
I’ve been pondering as to whether I myself should watch it.
Hi Monicas. I’m not familiar with Namfon or Art’s lakorn to be honest, so I’m not sure how good it is. But, I will put it on my list, I am always open to watching new onscreen couples! Are you talking about the lakorn “Suparburoot Saleum Saleu” (Step Onward)?
Anyone else familiar with this lakorn?
Are you ready for episode 9 ?
Ah ? I see that you watch it live ! So much dedication ! I can’t wait for episode 9 toooooooooooo ! How was the chemistry between our fav thai couple ?
Hi Lilly! It just started, the entertainment news went longer than usual, followed by a message from the king. Right now Bua Ngern has succeeded in overcoming Prince Siriwattana with voodoo magic, but she has to continue it for seven days straight for it to be permanent. Siriwong and Maneerin are still cute but he’s holding her at bay, pushing her buttons lol. Too cute. Ok, I won’t give everything away. Don’t forget to watch ep 9 when it’s up on youtube 🙂 xoxo Fia
Thank you I can’t wait. When I think about it my fav onscreen OTP of the year are :
Bosco Wong and Kate Tsui (HK) in Lives of omission
Aum and Aff (Thai) in Roy Mai
Park Shi Hoo and Moon Chae Won (Korea) in The princess’s man
Have you seen Aum/Aff recent event pics ? Gosh they are so close and at ease around each other ! Seriously it sounds like a real couple…Did you know they went to cinema together during Roy Mai filming ?
I have not seen their recent event pics, but from what I’ve gathered from the past events, they are always so comfortable around each other. I like that they have such an easy friendship and can put together such wonderful on-sceen chemistry!
Hi Fia, I’m watching Roy Mai live from krabi. No idea what they are talking about so I’m making up their conversation in my head as I watch. :p no knowledge of Thai is required to appreciate Aum though!
Oh so cool, we are watching it together 🙂 I’m tweeting as I’m watching lol. But Bua Ngern is crazy, she is trying not only to scheme Prince Siriwattana to be hers forever, but she is scheming to kill Maneerin too! This episode is teaching me more about voodoo than anything.. creepy, should not be messing with it!
But Ateam is adorable as usual.. too bad the episode is not too much about them.
I think Bua Ngern looks better in the commoner get up. Lol.
As for the movies you’ve bought, I’d recommend ‘Hello Stranger’. It’s really funny and also touching towards the end. I also watched ‘Suckseed’ recently and it’s funny too but personally I think HS is better.
Thanks J! I will watch Hello Stranger first. Chakrit is in Lulla Man and I’m curious to find out how good that one is.. it aired in the theaters recently.
J- speaking of funny, have you seen “Citizen Dog”? That movie is hysterical and has one of the best pictures.
How many scene Aum/Aff do they have today ? And were they romantic enough ?
Sadly to say, a couple of scenes.. he did help her get up from the ground lol, and held on to her for a bit.. then we have the scene where he catches her sneaking into the sorcerer’s house. But those are the memorable ones. I think the show is trying to tie up the scenes for Bua Ngern and what will drive her over the edge to try to kill Maneerin. Hopefully we get more of Ateam on the next episode…
Someone uploaded today episode raw and frankly, I don’t know for you but I hayed. I mean what the f..k ? For the first time I won’t be suprised if this episode get bad ratings. I mean an episode centered on Bua N’gern is sure suicide ! this character has nothing to make this show interesting not even acting (sorry but the way the actress talks is way off !). There were pratically No Ateam scenes to redeem it ! What a waste of an episode today ! I hope they will make up for this next episode. Even in BGST the storyline progressed quickly and although it was a family drama there were cute Ateam scenes in every episodes and their love story progressed too !
Sorry I meant “I hated it”
I hear ya, I’m disappointed too. Siriwong-Maneerin’s relationship hasn’t taken a step forward either. I think Off Pongpat is being too indulgent in his voodoo explanation and obsession with evil people. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for ep10!
Tomorrow episode will be worse watching the preview. I feel These two episodes will make me change my mind about this show and drop it from the best drama of the year in my heart !
I hope we have many more episodes left, because a rushed ending would really suck. Let’s hang in there for Ateam, friend! Sometimes, previews aren’t all they are cracked up to be. Let’s watch the previous sweet scenes to remind us 🙂 Nonetheless, I think it is still a very beautiful lakorn.
I still think this drama is not bad and I understand and don’t mind that P’Aof wanted to show us how crazy and dangerous Bua Ngern. The last scene showed it very well. There were beautiful shot scenes but this is a BIG BIG mistake of the maker to make Bua Ngern the “CENTER” of one/two episode(s) and toss the main lead lovestoryline into the background. This is a terrible mistake and as I said for the first time I think this episode deserve bad ratings !
“@Lilly hang in there”
Awwww ! I sure will keep hanging for A-team and to see the end of all of this. But still a disappointing episode and I am not so eager to watch next episode. I will wait for your review to see if I watch it or no.
Hmmm…Roy Marn is good at the moment. Many people are enjoying it…Like ME! (: lol We’re all just waiting for the wedding scene and it’s aftermath. Ahaa ;P
As for Noon’s Lakorn, Sentai Salai Sode, I’ve only watched the first episode and man! I thought it was straight up hilarious. Haha (:
I love Roy Mai but I still need some catching up to do. ): lol
Noon- funny? She has played so many serious roles that I’m looking forward to her being comedic! So many lakorns to watch and so little time!
Hello Fia. Are you watching today episode. Sorry if I threw trantum last night because last night was too much about the Rai. If my attitude offensed you I am really sorry. I still think this drama has something special the other shows don’t have so far. And I am still hanging for Ateam who deliver very well (namely Aum) and make this show so engaging and appealing.
I can’t for your reviews of this week episode and take care.
Lilly
Hi Lilly! I welcome all comments and perspectives from my readers and fellow lakorn fans. You have a right to feel angry at the turn of events because it was an indulgent episode- focused on the nang rai that is. But I’m so glad to hear that we’re still cheering for Ateam. BTW, I’m watching ep 10 right now, and Ateam, as always, are too cute together. xoxo Fia
Hi Lovefia !
Thank you for your tweetings and reading them I feel that this episode is better than the last one and next episodes will be filled with Ateam romance !
I can’t wait for them and your review of the lattest episodes. And as I said Roy Mai still remains a special lakorn in my heart this year.
I would recommend Sentai Salai Sod over Nai Roy Ruk that is if you are looking a rom-com and a more relaxed lakorn. I am not even a Vee’s fans but I am finding myself enjoying it. It is hilarious, at least the first episode. I have yet to watch the newer episodes. Nai Roy Ruk, I didn’t even bothered to watch the first episode after watching the teasers. And from reading negative feed backs I don’t think I am planning to give it a shot. Have been disappointed one too many times with Ch7. How do you like Tawee Pope so far?
Roi Mai first three episode were slow and the characters such as Thanin was just a torture. I wanted to slap Rerin for actually dating him so long lol but a Thanin is needed to just pissed the hell out of people haha. I am just disappointed in May as Bua Ngern. Episode 9 where she was doing the little dance cracks me up. And every time she speaks, I can’t help but LOL. I cannot take her seriously. And on top of that, her character is just straight up dklajsfjaifjdijafdijfij haha.
For movies, I put Hello Stranger as your first priority. Loved it to pieces. Dear Galileo is okay.
Hi Fun, thanks for the recommendation, I swear, I will get around to watching the stack of movies! Hello Stranger will be the first one I’ll watch 🙂 I will post my impressions/review of Tawee Pope (after I finish it lol.) So far though? I’m captivated, but, I’m only on episode 5.. As for Noon’s lakorn, I want to watch it simply because I want to see Noon in a comedic role. Golly, Nai Roy Ruk, I do hope I’ll get around to it. I hope RM will improve next week, otherwise I will be sorely disappointed because ep 1-8 was soo good! What are you watching these days? -Fia
I am watching all prime time lakorns on Ch3 that is currently airing. As for Ch7, only Sentai. I just finished Protect the Boss [kdrama] Excellent beginning. Okay ending.
I liked yesterday episode better the previous one. About STLS in my view there is too much overacting. This year Romcom exaggerated with Neks overacting (Margie, Aum, Noon).
About Roy Mai I liked yesterday episode better than the previous one. I think May overacts as Bua Ngern but she fits the crazy psycho overjealous bitch very well.
lol @ c.p.o.b.
I love hearing everyone’s different perspectives regarding the current on air lakorns, it brings such refreshing take on things. We can always agree to disagree 🙂
Really like your writings~~ And thanks for your reviews!! I am only recently into Thai lakorns and your blog is a good reference for me 🙂 Thank you~~
Hi Orangii! An official welcome to you- to my blog as well as the world of lakorns 🙂 I hope you enjoy your time watching thai miniseries as well as reading about them here. So far, what have you seen? -Fia
Thank you :). I started with Jam Loey Rak, and thereafter a fan of Aum (however not much feeling for Aff).
After that I have done Ban Ran Pai Fun, Badarn Jai, Borisud Bumbut Kaen, and a little of Pim Mala for Aum, and then Sood Sanae Ha, Sawan Biang for Ken.
I also finished Kha Kong Khon (thereafter a fan of Noon) and Ngao Hua Jai (but this one doesn’t have a complete translation -> I watched in either Chinese sub or English sub). Also Ruk Mai Mee Wan Tay.
I am now on Gon Ruk Luang Jai :); my 11th Thai lakorn.
That is quite the start 🙂 I’m sure I don’t need to warn you that lakorns are addicting! It looks like you’ve seen many great lakorns with Aum in it, I also would recommend Botan Gleep Sudtai (he won an award for it.) Other great ones are Piang Jai Tee Pook Pun and 4 Hearts of the Mountain Series (feel free to read my reviews on it.) This series will get you hooked on the stories behind the quadruplets. You can watch it on Wishboniko’s channel on YT.
As far as Kon Ruk Luang Jai.. I do have a few more things to say about it, but will reserve that for an upcoming post. For Ken- another good one is Jai Rao (more on the intense, teary side- if you want a good cry.)
Thanks for your recommendations!! Some fans recommend Botan Gleep Sudtai too but I used to only watch modern settings, however after many recommendations on Roy Mai, I may start with Roy Mai after the entire series is out with sub. I’ve done the 4 Hearts of the Mountain (but I only watch the one with Aum); just forget to mention. I don’t particularly like Pong but I think I will watch more of his lakorns :).
Yes, Roy Mai is a must watch- although this week’s episode is focused on the bad characters, but I’m hopeful things will pan out for this lakorn. Oh, Aum makes a delicious Prince Phuwanet. He played the character so well in 4 Hearts of the Mountain. And about Pong, he is a love to hate guy, but gee whiz I can’t help but admire him.
I would love to see you review some of those movies I’m not familiar with like My Best Bodyguard, Saranae Siblor, Friendship, Lulla Man, Loser Lover.
And any new lakorns you write about would be fine. Sounds like I can cross KLRJ off the list. ^-^
Hi Jazmin! I don’t believe we’ve met. Welcome to my world, I am so pleased you took the time to drop a note! I noticed you have a blog too! In which I will be sure to visit soon.
Movie review sounds like a less difficult undertaking then reviewing entire lakorns, so I may just give it a shot. Which do you want to read about first? I’ve a mind to watch the highly recommended “Hello Stranger” followed by Lulla Man (just because Chakrit is in it.)
If you opt out of KLRJ, you won’t be missing much.. except for their many smooches 🙂 xoxo Fia
Any would be fine. I just haven’t heard about them before, so wanted to find out what they’re about. The others I’ve read about from Lyn’s lakorn and other places.
It’s a pity about the smooches, but that’s why there are mvs. Are they even real? For some reason, I thought Janie didn’t do real kisses.
Oh yes it’s real. Janie is among the few Thai actresses who does real kissing scenes 🙂
After watching episode 9 and 10 subtitled I can say I like them better than I did. Ateam relationships there sure have not yet picked up but I like what they say to each other. I can tell that this drama has one of best script of the year. And I will add that Rerin and Suriya are subjectively a couple : Rerin live with him and when Wan asked her if she wanted to go back to Bangkok she first looked at Suriya as if she asks his permission and after she decied to stay, Suriya can’t help but protects Rerin and follows her wherever she goes. Even when they argue it’s like a couple arguing. Rerin can’t live without Suriya anymore but she just doesn’t know. Still Maneerin and Siriwong lovestory steal the show.
PS : I wanted to add Chai is a good actor. I like his expressions when BN spelt a cast on him ! Good actor
Hi Lilly, so glad to hear that you are back on the train ride to Roy Mai 🙂 Once you know exactly what they say, it’s not too bad because Ateam are still very cute together. I thought Chai acted well in that scene too! Looking forward to Monday! -Fia
@ Fia oooh, just saw your comment on ‘Citizen Dog’. Any idea where to find it with eng subs? Did a quick search on yt and didn’t seem to have it there. I’m so far behind on Roy Mai! I spent my Saturday watching other stuff instead of RM cos it’s lacking the can’t-wait-to-watch factor for me atm.
@ fun Have you been keeping up with Sentai Salai Sod? I was disappointed with the first ep actually, even blogged about it. lol
@orangii I’d also recommend Botan Gleep Sudtai. It’s more a family drama than a romance centric one but Aum is great in it and it’s pretty touching. 😉
Hm.. it seems even the web doesn’t have an eng sub. I watched the un-subbed version on dvd so that won’t be much help to you. I’ll ask around, I have a friend in Singapore who has seen it but I’m sure it was a torrent dl, are you oppose to that? Send me your email address to lovefia1210@gmail.com and when I find the link, I can email it to you.
@J I read your entry about it a few hours ago. I haven’t had the time… um motivation to continue Sentai Salai Sod after watching the beginning of episode 2. At first it was bearable but now I just find Noon’s acting irritating lol
Sorry Fia for spamming on your blog.
Spam? Never 🙂
Fia there is a beautiful MV I found about Roy Mai. Aum and Aff have wonderful chemistry :
What a beautiful video.. it brings out all of their wonderful scenes together. I have no idea what the song means but it resonates with the story nonetheless. Thank you so much for sharing this Lilly, I must favorite it! Should I miss their sweet scenes, I shall hit replay 🙂
Fia! You and I are in the same frame of mind right now it seems. I am finding October so favorable and beautiful this year, which it’s never really been before in my eyes and it’s inspiring high spirits in me. I can appreciate Minnesota’s weather fluctuations if it means such gorgeous gold days like the ones we’ve been getting over here. *sigh* The weather is warm, but the wind is perfect and the sun is so friendly. And this morning there was a small shower of rain that I walked in! I hope your next upcoming week will be great. I myself get to have a weekend at home away from college. Hooray! And certainly I’ll be watching lakorn during that time. ^^
Hi Jjinxx, I completely appreciate you visiting when I know you are so busy with college! Isn’t it funny how I don’t appreciate my hometown until I’m away from it? I am currently living abroad and little things like my homepage banner, a smell of fresh spiced lattes or the word “October” can bring me back to Seattle. But as soon as the homesickness comes, it shortly goes away.. Minnesota sounds beautiful! I hope you enjoy your weekend away from campus and get to watch lots of wonderful lakorns! Stop by again darling, I always relish your visits! xoxo Fia
