Courtesy of Blobofcolour’s drama challenge, which originated this stimulating topic, we’re going to partake, so please feel free to include your answers!
This challenge is challenging in itself for me. If you’ve read my about page, then you might be aware that I stopped watching lakorns for 10 years and returned in 2010. So theoretically, I should examine lakorns within the last three years, however, having returned back to lakorns, I’ve caught up with so many that I’ve missed, that the lines are simply blurred. And well, I.Just.Want.To.Write.About.Everything. But for clarity and brevity sake (much to my chagrin) we’ll just talk about lakorns between the years 2010-2013 (so file away Jam Loey Rak (sob), and worse lakorn ever Namtarn Mai (you escaped this time around unscathed, show.) *As a side note, you can provide answers for lakorns that you’ve seen in the course of your lakorn-watching days.
Disclaimer: The following answers should be taken into consideration, the fact that yours truly, your P’Fia, is currently drunk off Sudafed (she’s recovering from a cold!) and won’t be responsible for any loopy, seemingly random answers. But she stands by her efforts.
- How did you start watching lakorns?
Technically since the womb. But picked it up again during my sabbatical to Asia. Too much time on my hand and not enough to do, despite all my café trolling, people watching, and eating.
- Your all time favourite lakorn?
The answer blurted itself before I could even write: Sood Saneha. Such an easy pick. This lakorn is perfection, from the cast, to the chemistry, to the storyline, to everything else under the sun.
- Your least favourite lakorn?
We would have to preface with, least favorite among lakorns that we’ve watched in its entirety. That would be Ubatheehet of 2012, which has a revolving door or insanity: people who do the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Thank you Einstein.
- Your favourite lakorn OST?
That’s so hard! Almost an unfair question! I’m gonna cheat and say the entire soundtrack to Game Rai Game Rak – namely Glub Ma Pen Meurn Derm- because I had that song as my ringtone and every time someone calls me, I want to cry because I miss Saichon and Nangfah so much. Not only for personal reasons, but the song does the lakorn so much justice, it evoked the greatest desire from our leading guy: the fact that he wants things to go back to being the way they were, yet ultimately, it can’t because Nangfah will never regain her entire memories back, and yet, he’s happy enough just to have her back in his life. See? You may sob. Second place would be Rak Tae Yoo Neua Garn Wayla from Suparburoot Series ‘cause it’s so classy and beautiful.
- The last lakorn you watched?
Kaen Saneha. Which, thank god it’s over.
- What lakorn are you currently watching?
Nang Rai Sai Lup.
- A lakorn you looked forward to but disappointed you in the end?
I followed Qi Pao since the inception, the fitting, but the whole story just failed for me. Sad.
- A lakorn you started without expectations but loved it in the end?
Num Barn Rai Gup Warnjai Hi So, totally and unexpectantly wonderful.
- Preferred lakorn type (revenge, slap/kiss, boran, romcom etc)?
Romcom, you didn’t know?
- Favourite male/female character?
Alin from Sood Saneha, she’s so strong, smart and cunning.
- Least favourite male/female character?
My least favorite (the culprit) usually borders on the weak, confused kind. For instance, Whitney from Ubatheehet, a girl who’s world seems so out of her control.
- A lakorn character you’d like to be friends with in real life?
Soh Surikarn from Nang Rai Sai Lup because we can go shopping, and she would do anything and everything for me. I can totally count on her.
- A lakorn character you’d marry in real life?
Well, *laughing uncomfortably* I’m already taken! But let’s just tweak the question to, a lakorn character my lakorn persona would marry, and we would have a few scenarios for that: if I want a calm, nice life, I’d pick Mr. Farmer from Num Barn Rai (starring Peter) because he’s supportive, understanding and totally hot (what, that’s not your prerequisite??), if I want a risky (but totally exciting) life, I’d go with Chakrit (Khun Sama) from Mon Jantra because he would love me unconditionally (erhm, my lakorn persona that is) despite running away from bullets together.
- Lakorns are full of psycho villains. Who makes your blood boil the most?
The chick from Fah Jarod Sai, I think her name is Kashfiya, ooh, she makes me ponder murder.
- A lakorn character that is most like you?
Sadly, my life is not as melodramatic as the actresses in lakorns, it only gets melo when I run out of wine. So I like to stock up, I have a wonderful wine rack stacked with sangiovese, pino noirs, cabernet.. wait I’m getting sidetracked. What’s the question again?
- Most memorable lakorn confession?
Don’t you love it when the leading characters just fall in love and go with it? (No we really don’t.) So it’s nice when one of them confesses his/her love for the other. I would say the most memorable would be in Khun Chai Pawornruj, our lead characters are in a cabin in Switzerland alone, they just lost their way, it’s freezing cold out and the two has been building that chemistry since the onset of their tour in Swiss. Chai Ruj very smoothly and very romantically, tells Rasa (whom he thinks is an ordinary girl and not a titled princess) and says that when he’s with her, he just wants to be a man that loves a woman with all his heart, and take care of her for the rest of his life. Swoon.
- Most memorable first meeting of the main couple?
In Khunchai Ronnapee, where Piangkwan falls literally into Chai Phee’s arms, we have a moment of profound breath-holding (is that even a word?) and he thereafter stalks her for an entire episode, which seems like a whole day. So that totally qualifies like a very long first meeting, no?
- Favourite lakorn ending?
Plerng Toranong, simply because Plerngrit was put through the ringer and is shocked by the ending himself, when his beloved (whom he thinks is lost to him) redeems herself, gives him his dream by painting his house by the lake blue and confessing to him that she loves him. And to seal the deal with a sweet, real kiss? Priceless.
- Top 3 couples in a lakorn?
I’m only including sensible couples: Alin-Kru Cook, Chai Ruj-Than Ying, Traipoom-Plaichat, Prap-Nupdao (I know that is four, bite me.)
- Top 3 actor/actress pairing?
KA, Yadech, see I compensated by giving only two since I gave four for the last question. I’m being good! Give me a cookie!
Keep in mind that these are answers pertaining to 2010-2013. J and I decided that for me, we’ll keep it at that, otherwise it will be even more challenging to decide between 20++ years of lakorn watching. I don’t want to acquire more gray hairs than I already have. Besides, if anyone asks, those are only hairs that are losing pigmentation. Not that I’m getting old! Romcom stands for romantic comedy. Boran refers to lakorns that are taken place in the olden days, where the characters dress up in traditional clothing. A good example of Boran lakorns would be Tawee Pope, Khun Suek, Buang Barp, and the upcoming Sarp Phra Pheng.

-How did you start watching lakorns?
My mom use to buy dubbed Thai lakorns all the time, so I would watch it with her from time to time. But myself, I started my Thai fever back around 2009.
-Your all time favourite lakorn?
Ka Neung Ha with Ning K and Patson. Best Rom/Com Ever!! It was cute from the main leads to the supporting.
-Your least favourite lakorn?
I rewatch a lot of lakorns to be honest, even the ones that I don’t really like. My least favorite lakorn would be Hong Fah. Storyline wasn’t appealing to me.
-Your favourite lakorn OST?
Definitely hard one, too many to name.
-The last lakorn you watched?
Suparburoot Juthatep series, I loved this series 🙂
-What lakorn are you currently watching?
Tawan Baan Tong and Kularb Fai
-A lakorn you looked forward to but disappointed you in the end?
Nuer Mek 2, I loved it so much but when it got canceled, I was so disappointed and heartbroken.

Khun Chai Rachanon, I love the pace of this one. Amazing.
-Preferred lakorn type (revenge, slap/kiss, boran, romcom etc)?
It depends on my mood, but it would most likely be rom/com, but definitely not boran.
-Favourite male/female character?
Male: Khun Chai Ronnapee, this man fights for the woman he loves and is willing to give up his title to be with the one that he loves.
Female: Its a tie between Jao Ying Soifah and Dr. Praepailin. Soifah because she doesn’t yield to anyone especially men and also she doesn’t act like she’s stupid with men, she tells them as it is. She’s like a little monkey lol. Dr. Praepailin because she’s strong and holds her ground. She doesn’t let people off easily *ahem* Sangkla lol.
-Least favourite male/female character?
None, really. All characters are either really great or decent.
-A lakorn character you’d like to be friends with in real life?
Jomjai from Wan Jai Gub Nai Jom Ying, she’s a great friend. She’s very understanding, though you may be mad at her, she won’t hate you. She’s very sweet and loving.
-A lakorn character you’d marry in real life?
Hands down, Khun Pawornruj, this man can cook, clean, be sweet, considerate, everything that I’ve always wanted in a man. Followed by Khun Chai Ronnapee, reason is the same as above.
-Lakorns are full of psycho villains. Who makes your blood boil the most?
There’s a few but I can’t name them at the moment.
-A lakorn character that is most like you?
Krongkaew from Khun Chai Puttipat, I’m not weak like her, but our love for our dads are so strong that we are willing to do anything to help them 🙂

Karm Wayla Tharm Ha Ruk -Though Bie Sukrit’s dancing is corny and there was the age gap between him and Nok, I really loved this one. True love exists in here.
-Most memorable first meeting of the main couple?
Agree with you, P’Fia. Definitely when Piengkwan fell into Khun Chai Ronnapee’s arms. So dreamy.
-Favourite lakorn ending?
Fai Ruk Arsoon, it’s not your typical hugging ending. You get to see a little of what their lives are like once they got their happy ending.

Ka Neung Ha is indeed one funny lakorn, it’s still fresh in my memory. As a matter of fact, I have so many good old lakorns I can drum up 🙂 But that would keep my heads in the cloud too much and we have to keep the post succinct. Whatever happened to Patson? He was a US boy who was touted as a rising star in Thailand, and he did quite well. You re-watch even lakorns you don’t like? Brave girl. Hoping for more awesome lakorn in the future to spazz together!

Sood Sanae Ha came as a shock to me when I first watched it. What I mean is before that show everything I had watched was along the lines of Sawan Biang, Jam Leuy Ruk, Wong Wien Hua Jai etc – full of melodrama to say the least. When I heard Ken & Ann had done other lakorns together I decided to check out SSH first before Oum Ruk, man I instantly fell in love with Kru Cook & Alin like they were a fresh of breath air , absolutely loved everything about that show & it made me love the KA tandem.
Loved your response to these questions and have to say I’m quite envious of how much lakorns you’ve seen. Would love to watch the old school lakorns and see how much has changed over time.

yep, watching old lakorns is what I’m doing now! I watch them with Chinese subs but I think if you poke around enough you should be able to find some eng sub older ones. At the very least Andrew Gregson’s FC channel on yt has some of his older works. 😉

I think the drama which pleasantly surprised me is Raak Bourn with Margie and Mike. Seriously at the end of the show I somehow found Mike ‘appealing’ ? 😮 He has a nice voice and I liked his tandem with Margie. The loveline here was not the center of the show but It was there and Mike and Margie displayed a nice chemistry I hope there is season 2 😉
The vilain girl I can’t stand so far is Nee of Sood sai paan. Vill is doing a nice job here

I believe there is talks of part two, since the first one ended so quickly. I agree about their chemistry, and coming out liking Mike.. but the plot itself is too much of the same thing that I hope if they pick up part two, we would get something new and more challenging to watch. Yes, a challenge it is. I’ve been thinking about this challenge since yesterday and it’s a tough one. Here goes:
All time favorite lakorn (and I’m going to date myself on this one…) is Sawan Biang with Sam Yuranan and Munlady (1989?). I remembered my sister and I did a marathon watching this lakorn till wee morning hours even though we had school and work the next day. We laughed and cried and fell in love with the pra’ek and nang’ek. I love the idea that pure and true love conquers all; even the most unlovable people can be changed to be a better man/woman. I’ve enjoyed remakes of Sawan Biang but the version with Sam in it is still my favorite . He totally nailed the cynical, proud, unloving yet vulnerable man. At the end of it all, you’re rooting for him to find his true love because he’s so deserving of it.

Ha. I have seen Sam’s version of Kawee as well! Sounds like you’ve been watching lakorns for awhile too, no? Sam is one of my most favorite actors back in the day, based on his ability to portray snooty and love to hate men. He’s mean but he has a reason, and he does it so well! Yes, I grew up with family that is lakorn junkies. But it wasn’t til Sawan Biang that I really got into it. You can even say that I learned Thai from watching lakorn all these years. My sister and I still keep up the tradition and we would share (spazz) over our latest favourite pra’Nangs. And my sister is a gramma now. So that’s how long we’ve been watching. We would take a break and then come back again. I’m really enjoying watching all the new actors and actresses these past 3 years. They are young, energetic, enthusiatic and super talented! and friendly too!

How did you start watching lakorns?
As a kid, I used to watch it with my older girl cousins. We used to play house and even pretended the pra’eks were our “imaginary partners” (kids and their great imaginations right? Smart!) Like you, I stopped for years – since I had no one to translate for me until I discovered Lyn’s old lakorn blog page, now Iheartlakorns.com, in 2008 and my addiction got serious since.
Your all time favourite lakorn?
From 2010-2013..sadly, my all time faves is not in this time era (Buang Banjathorn Starring Chakrit & Marsha/Ruk ter took wun Starring Ken & Aom) but so far this year, I like all the Khun Chais series and Majurat See Nam Pueng with Ken & Namtarn.
Your least favourite lakorn?
No answer on this one because I would already skipped it. I like to read the synopsis on lakorns I haven’t seen before I watch it. If the plot interests me then I will give it a try but if not, skip. =)

Buang. Why? I love Rita and Rome but the plot got long and boring with too much obsession. Noon did a really good job playing the angry ghost but that was about it. Game Rai Game Rak. Why? It started cute and all but the ending was just blah for me. It could’ve been better. I did fall in love with Pope though. I liked him as a doctor.

Duang Jai Akkanee – being that the Thara Himalaya’s plot was so made up with the king from an unknown world. Also, the cast did a superb job and it was more reality than a fantasy storyline. My very first newbies I feel deeply in love with.

I like strong nang’eks. I know you can’t help who you fall in love with but totally not with the same guy your twin slept with. That’s just gross! Another one is Michelle from Fah Jarod Sai – OMG! She is so helpless and annoying. I like strong nang’eks who doesn’t need to “faint” all the time and do things without complaining. She complained so much, I was wishing Sharif leave her stranded on her own in the desert. –Annoying.

The twins in Khun Chai Pawornruj. They are fun and adventurous. I would love to travel to a new country I know nothing about and find true love. ^_^

I have to add 2! 1)Wayupak Montra. The ending to all four parts of 4 Hearts of the Mountain. It gave details and a good conclusion of the siblings who all lived happily ever after. 2) Taddao Bussaya – I love how Chao YodKhwan became so independent on Taddao and he became a kid at the end stomping and bedding her to marry him. So cute!

I love period dramas and one of my other all time favorite is Prissana (Tik and Teya) and Rak Nakara (Brook, Noon, & Aum P. -when they were still good actors). – These are MUST WATCH!

You’d be surprised, I haven’t seen Taddao Bussaya yet. But having caught up with lakorns and watching them live now, it’s so hard to go back. Why can’t we have more than 24 hours in a day?
I have seen Prissana and Rak Nakara, and would agree with you that Prissana is soo romantic. Teya’s first lakorn and although she has her stiff moments, she and Tik made an awesome pair. Thanks for taking on the challenge!

Wow I would have a really hard time answering these questions since I have watched so many lakorns ever since I was young, and I never went on a break like you did. But from the comments I must go back and watch Sood Saneha with Ann and Ken. I have been meaning to since it first came out like ages ago, but I watched 356 days of love first and didn’t really like that one compare to SW and OR so I went on a Ann and Ken break and never got around to it.
I will answer one question from the challenge: who would I married in lakorn world?——— Khun Chai Pawornruj, because like what everyone else said above he’s just so perfect and respectable.

I would highly recommend you go back in time and check it out. Once you get past the first episode, things will start to get real interesting..
Chai Ruj is a serious contender for many, but perhaps the reason why I didn’t choose him as a ‘real life’ hubby is because I’m attracted to confidence: a man that doesn’t give a rats’ ass about what others think of him, Chai Ruj’s weakness is his inferior complex and at times can exude too much drama-queen tendencies. I adore his character, but not my kind of man. With that being said though, he certainly will make a great husband to any woman.

How did I star?
its kind of blur but I think its an accident clicking into a lakirn staring by Ann and Ken named Sood Saneha which I totally fell hard in love with the couple and the lakorn(at the time, I had no idea it called lakorn, I call it Thai Drama)
But i always like to do some research, I like reading, any kind of writing until it is good writing, I google about the drama and Thai drama too, and I found a blog name LOVEFIA, the first thing i read on your blog is about this drama, then I fell for you blog, I came more often, reading and finding more drama to watch.

My favourite?
That’s not a doubt that Sood Saneha is in the list, but I have some more, I thought 3 more, 1 is luk mai klai ton (Sad that I couldnt watch the whole series with sub, they just stopped subbing it, but I just love Andrew and Kob acting, and the story line is good too), the other is rak nee hua rao , I just love smart and funny guy.
and the last is Prisana, super good one too, sometime their stubbornness frustrated me but still it was a very good drama
My least?
I couldnt stand bad drama, so I just stop if I feel it is bad, I have to say that I have stopped quite a lot…..I am just be frank
OST? another fact, I think its bc I dont understand Thai, I wasnt really into Thai language so I couldnt really like the music, sorry to say that, but bc really like Thai drama and culture now, and more than that I like FIA a lot, so I am just telling the truth

I’m torn between khun chai ronnapee and plerng toranong. I guess I’ll go for Mario. Epic storyline. Amazing chemistry. At the same time heroic parts, action and abuse. I mean kidnapping. Lol. The part where plerngs cousin(who hates him like hell) gets rescued by plerng from a guy who kidnapped her and raped her. Taped it too. >.:(

Most memorable lakorn confession?
Don’t you love it when the leading characters just fall in love and go with it? (No we really don’t.) So it’s nice when one of them confesses his/her love for the other. I would say the most memorable would be in Khun Chai Pawornruj, our lead characters are in a cabin in Switzerland alone, they just lost their way, it’s freezing cold out and the two has been building that chemistry since the onset of their tour in Swiss. Chai Ruj very smoothly and very romantically, tells Rasa (whom he thinks is an ordinary girl and not a titled princess) and says that when he’s with her, he just wants to be a man that loves a woman with all his heart, and take care of her for the rest of his life. Swoon. I just copied Fia’s answer. Think the same. Lol.
Most memorable first meeting of the main couple?
Chai phee and Pieng Kwan. The same thing that yaa Ohn dreamed of. An angel comes to chai phee. ;”) how beautiful. And the song at that moment too. :”). Athit absang. Did you know that the king of Thailand composed this song himself? Amazing music. Long live the King. !

o How did you start watching lakorns?
I first encountered lakorns during my primary school years. I was born in Malaysia, which is the neighbouring country to Thailand. Back then, our tv channels broadcasted many lakorns, but I can only remember a few which I really enjoyed. Most of them were Tik’s, Aom Phiyada’s & Aum Patcharapa’s lakorns. Then I went to boarding school and had to say ‘Sayonara’ to lakorns. A couple of years ago, I was bored and suddenly thought of Luerd Kattiya (Tik & Aom). I was searching for the drama with subs, to my surprise I found gazillions of subbed lakorns. From then on, I started my lakorn journey again. But frankly I haven’t watched many lakorns still :D, trying my best to catch up with the good ones.

Definitely Sood Saneha. Love everything about this lakorn.
o Your least favourite lakorn?
I wish I can whisper this to you, Fia. This has got to be Sud Sai Paan for me…hahahhaa. I don’t know I just can’t fathom with this kind of storyline and I think it has very minimal characters development. Not sure if I’m being bias coz I’ve just recently watching it that I got so pissed off with this lakorn that I’ve forgotten about other lakorns which I didn’t enjoy as well. But right now, this one is at the top of my list :p … sorry SSP fans.

Qi Pao as well. I am P’Ann’s fan and really anticipated this lakorn. I was really disappointed with the overall quality of the drama but mainly due to Smart’s poor acting here.

Nang Rai Sai Lup. Watch it just for the sake of Margie, but end up having fun watching it. I can’t remember when the last time I laughed so much watching lakorn. The characters were fun to watch.

I detest weak and stupid p’eks haha. It used to be Pit aka Pitbull from Raeng Prathana (poor Nadech, I still love you tho I just don’t like the character). But thank God for SSP, Thitit has taken over the position haha. My God, I really feel like slapping that dude. He does nothing accept going around stalking Gan just to find faults and torture her. He trusts everybody except the one he loves. Weirdo!
o A lakorn character you’d like to be friends with in real life?
Actually would love to hangout with Soh Surikhan, but seems like many people like her, so she’d be too busy to be friend with me :p. I’ll go with Praew from Raeng Prathana. She’s such a good friend, always there to support and protect her bestie. I can even call her to the supermarket just to help me buy groceries.
o A lakorn character you’d marry in real life?
Well, I can’t think of one character because none of the p’eks is perfect right? But those who might be the one: 1. Ken T (Chen) from Om Ruk. I think I can live with this kind of guy. He may not be rich and famous, but he’s so funny, loving, and crazy sometimes. I love it when he reads the pregnancy and baby books to his wife. There’s so much to love about this character. 1. Chakrit (Khun Sama) from Mon Jantra, oh this sappy mafia boss. He is so romantic and loving. Who doesn’t one to be loved by him? (ok,maybe just me)
o Lakorns are full of psycho villains. Who makes your blood boil the most?
Thitit from SSP. Yes, he’s here because of the words “psycho” and “blood boil”. Don’t care, he’s here! Period! haha

◦ How did you start watching lakorns?
How did I start watching Lakorns? Good question. It all started before I was in my mother’s womb. 555 Actually, I’ve grown up watching lakorns my whole life, 19 years to be exact. Even before age 1. 555 I would watch both lakorns and borans since my parents and grandparents would always go rent them and whatnot. Even with the whole Korean Phase going on and me being apart of it, I still never stopped watching lakorns. It wasn’t until 2007 when I fully committed myself to Lakorns only. I gave up on Korean pop culture lets just say that. 555 Ever since then, I’ve been spending my time watching lakorns only, nothing else. Okay, maybe a little here and there but that’s about it. 😛
◦ Your all time favourite lakorn?
Gosh. If this was not limited to years 2010-2013, I would have had chose Sawan Biang. Since we’re only allow to choose from 2010-2013, I would have to say Khu Kam, Bie and Noona’s 2013 version. That lakorn drove me crazy. Even to this day, I still watch it nonstop. 555 I love it so much because Bie and Noona did a phenomenal job portraying Kobori and Angsumalin. The lakorn itself was beautifully done as well. 😀
◦ Your least favourite lakorn?
I am VERY PICKY with lakorns. Therefore I make sure I watch only GOOD ones. 555 But I will have to admit that I’ve had a couple least favorite lakorns, sadly. So far, my least favorite one would have to be Kularb Fai. As much as I love Art and Sara together, the lakorn itself was out of place. I couldn’t even comprehend what I just watched. 555
◦ Your favourite lakorn OST?
This is a hard question. I love every lakorn OST. They’ve all made it to my favorite lakorn OST list as well! 555 Once again, I will have to say Khu Kam’s OST. Their main theme song, “Khu Kam” was beautiful. Bie’s song, “Gerd Mah Koo Gun” was just as great alongside Noona’s song “Halm Jai,” and Gun Napat’s song, “Kum Sunyah.” Like you had said, each song represents their character and their feelings. Khu Kam was about why did heaven let Kobori and Angsumalin meet each other, both from different culture, fall in love and then to get separated, Kobori’s death. As for Bie’s song, it’s about how much he loves her and will continue to love her regardless of how much she hates him and so forth. Noona’s song was about how hard it was for her to forbid her heart from falling in love with Kobori but fail to do so. She still loves him though. And lastly, Gun Napat’s song is about his promise with Angsumalin. Even though she had promised him that she’ll wait for him, she should have had just let go of the promise because he came last. Each song really spoke about their character.
Also, I love “รักแท้อยู่เหนือกาลเวลา (Ruk Tae Yoo Nuer Garn Wela)” also! Such a beautiful song! 😀

The last lakorn would be…………I don’t even remember. Kularb Fai? I didn’t even finish it. I don’t even remember over half of the lakorns I have seen. 555

She is a strong woman, very independent, and extremely funny and cute. I love Ann. 555 ☺

My least favorite would have to be….Angsumalin. I love her, yet I hate her. She made me so mad to the point where I almost broke my laptop screen. 555 Noona did a great job portraying her but the character itself makes you mad. Angsumalin is so stubborn and hardheaded. Blahh. 555

You don’t even have to ask this question to know whom I want to marry in real life already. 555 Of course it’s KOBORI. That man is a man. He is such a gentleman. He loves and cares unconditionally. That man cares for you and your whole family. He is a man who is willing to sacrifice. He is a sweet talker, funny guy, silly, adorable, smooth, and knows when to be serious. Okay. I’ll tell you what makes my blood boil the most: Lakorns with villains that always seem to never die, or whatever. Like the stupid police, side characters, or main characters always let the bad person escape thus leading to another event of kidnapping or death. So annoying. I also forgot to mention. Villains that always kill all the characters but never gets caught. Like the heck? 555 For example, Pan Rak Pan Rai and Soo Saipan. Sigh. Don’t even get me started. 555

Hmm. That’s also another tough question. I don’t know. I guess Alin from Sood Sanaeha? I mean I’m not as dramatic as her but I am in many ways like her, or so I think. 555
◦ Most memorable lakorn confession?
What is the most memorable lakorn confession according to me? Well, since I have hardly been watching lakorns lately, I would have to say Khu Kam’s ending. When Angsumalin confessed everything to Kobori for like an hour plus long, lakorn time wise. 555 It was a scene that made you feel happy and sad. Happy that Kobori is dying with happiness. Sad because Kobori is dying!!! 555 TT_______TT Also, the endless kisses, no pecks and crying.

Most memorable first meeting? HAHHAHAHA! If you can already tell, I am a huge Khu Kam freak. 555 Well, only with Bie and Noona! 😛 I would have to say Khu Kam. Why? Because if it did not happen, there would be no Angsumalin and Kobori to love, cry, laugh, and so forth with. 555 It was memorable because it was the first step to their love. The beginning of their story.

I would have to agree with you on Plerng Torranong. The ending was a great, satisfying ending at least I thought so. I really enjoyed it. The ending kiss was “WOW.” Namfon teasing Plerng. I love how he just grabbed her and held her by the waist! Now he’s an active man! 5555+ I’m just kidding. It was extremely cute. Love my Mario & Taew! ❤

Anyway, after reading all the posts, I came to realize, I have a limited lakorn collection. 😦 But I would definitely be watching your recommendations.

How did you start watching lakorns?
I’m from the Philippines and Mario Maurer is quite a hit here. I first watched almost all of his movies, then accidentally found Plerng Thoranong on YT (Well, parts of it- Teaw and Mari’s scenes since the subber only put in their clips) I did however did catch the gist of it. Love the ending, too. Since then, I’ve found a new interest in Lakorns and in Thai culture even learning incase there aren’t subs available for an interesting Lakorn . (While almost everyone here is still on the Korean wave)
Your all time favourite lakorn?
Hmm.. This one’s hard. Gotta be “Khun Chai Puttipat” because I just love the irony of Chai Pat being a cold unfeeling robot to a determined, cheezy, romatic and swoon-worthy Pra’ek. Next is “DuangJai Akkanee” for the hot-headed Fai. (Sorry Nadech for the 2nd place)
Your least favourite lakorn?
Sorry MTeam but I think it’s Pathapee Leh Rak, Din’s story just didn’t click for me out of the 4 HuaJai heang Koon Khao series.
Your favourite lakorn OST?
Just as I’ve read among the past comments, I just has to be Rak Tae Yoo Neua Garn Wayla (Khun Chai Rachanon’s version) So authentic, maybe because of the Thai musical instruments? I don’t know.

This is absolutely cool! Should’ve read AND known about this blog long ago, so I can chime in while this was still hot! Well, better late than never! Lol.
Anyway, here are my answers:
1. How did you start watching lakorns?
– Credits to my dad. Or should I say, blame it on my dad? He got me into this mess and now I can’t get out of it! XD
2. Your all time favorite lakorn?
– Hands down “Sood Sanaeha.” Never have I seen such an outrageously GOOD lakorn. From the cast to the storyline, everything was perfection!
3. Your least favorite lakorn?
– I will have to say “Kon Ruk Luang Jai.” Ken and Janie were or er~ are quite popular together, but sadly their supposed sizzling chemistry can’t save the lakorn from ending up on this question. Worst lakorn I’ve ever finished.
4. Your favourite lakorn OST?
– It’s kind of a tie between “Ban Sai Thong” and “Tae Pang Korn.” Overall, I enjoy most of the songs in “BST,” but the one song that pulls the strings in my heart is Num and Pearl’s “Tae Pang Korn.” Pearl has the voice of an angel. Num, not so much.
5. The last lakorn you watched?
– I just finished “Sood Sai Pan.” This definitely won’t be the last you’ll hear of it in this questionnaire.
6. What lakorn are you currently watching?
– I’m almost giving up on this one, “Paab Ataan.” It’s been so boring. Very few horror scenes, which I like, but also very little progression.
7. A lakorn you looked forward to but disappointed you in the end?
– The one lakorn that I anticipated and in the end failed me was “Roy Lae Sanae Luang.” I stopped midway. Couldn’t continue anymore and just felt like strangling the producer for producing such horrible material.
8. A lakorn you started without expectations but loved it in the end?
– While it’s still fresh: “Nang Rai Sai Lap.” I started this one criticizing BOTH the leads, but ended up enjoying it the most out of all 2013 lakorns I’ve watched. Peter was so fine!
9. Preferred lakorn type (revenge, slap/kiss, boran, romcom etc)?
– Slap/kiss used to be my favorite until I grew out of my love for sadist-like pra’eks. Now I prefer romantic melodramas or romantic comedies in a period setting.
10. Favorite male/female character?
– For male character I am gonna go with Anothai from “Luerd Kattiya.” He’s patriotic, romantic, and courageous. What more can I ask.
– For the female counterpart, I think we all agree that Alin Tipiyada From”Sood Sanaeha” is the best nang’ek ever to grace the small screen. She is by far the most mesmerizing nang’ek I’ve encountered. Anne’s take on her will never be seen again from anyone else.

11. Least favorite male/female character?
– If talking about the leads, for the male character, Chitsanu from “Kaew Tah Pee.” I detest him for his indecisiveness and irrational judgement. He believes in everyone EXCEPT his wife, whom he coerced into marrying him even if she didn’t even love him…yet. Even though he’s play by one of my favorite actors Tik, it couldn’t be helped. I seriously wished for his eyesight to never recover!
– As for the female lead, Karat from “Samee Teetra.” She is a crazy, pyscho pain-in-the-a** who deserved everything that happened to her. Anne played her so well that I swore a couple of times (maybe even more) at the computer screen.
12. A lakorn character you’d like to be friends with in real life?
– I can’t think of any lead character at the moment, but I do have in mind a character played by someone who is deserving of a lead role. That person is Paweet from “365 Wan Hang Ruk,” which was portrayed by Nott. That guy was a friend who just loved the wrong person at the wrong time. Usually those kind of guys intercept a relationship and make matters worse, BUT Weet didn’t do any of that. He stood by his friend and even tried to amend things. Can I be your friend instead??
– Now that I’ve finished writing all that, someone did come to mind. That person is Veekit from “Rang Ngao,” played by Ken Theeradeth. He is the sweetest person ever! So sweet, I wouldn’t want to marry him, but I’d love to be his buddy.
13. A lakorn character you’d marry in real life?
– This is a difficult question given that I fantasize about getting married to almost every lakorn pra’ek *guilty as charged*. I will have to say though that I would want to marry Narubate from “Nang Rai Sai Lap.” He is a real character, albiet with a touch of fantasy for viewers , but still very real overall. He’s got a realistic job, a realistic lifestyle, a realistic personality, and a realistic lovelife. Plus, he’s embodied by the ever so HOT Peter Corp Dyrendal. Who doesn’t wan’t to marry HIM?
14. Lakorns are full of psycho villains. Who makes your blood boil the most?
– I have to agree with you Fia on this one, Kashfiya from “Fah Jarod Sai.” Urgh, maybe it’s because Aimee overacted, but I just wanted to slap her so badly. I cringed at the sight of her insanity.
15. A lakorn character that is most like you?
– None. Period.
16. Most memorable lakorn confession?
– I’ve seen many memorable confession scenes in Thai lakorns, but I must say this one was the most heart pulling confession: Kawee’s confession to Narin in “Sawan Biang.” I don’t really like the lakorn, it’s actually my least favorite KA lakorn, but the ending was memorable enough for it to remain on my good lakorns list. Their embrace felt so real that I was moved me to tears.
17. Most memorable first meeting of the main couple?
– Honestly, many pra’nang-first-meetings are typical, whether a ‘love-at-first-sight’ or ‘bad-encounter’ kind of impression, so I’d say the build up to it is what I consider memorable. With that being said, I will have to go with the meeting between Prissana and Thang Chai in “Prissana,” Tik and Taya’s version. It took 6 whole episodes, if I remember correctly, for the two to meet and I remember all that angst building up and going away after they FINALLY met. Gosh, I’ve never felt to anxious watching a light romantic lakorn.

19. Top 3 couples in a lakorn?
– Character-wise??? Well if that’s the case number one goes to Toola and Lanlanee from “365 Wan Hang Ruk.” They played a married couple so well that if I hadn’t know beforehand that Ken is with a wife and kids, and Anne is with long-time BF, I would’ve thought the two were a real life couple. Number two goes to Din and Alin from “Sood Sanaeha.” Alin’s outrageous attitude coupled with Din’s sensible character makes them such a good pair. Opposites do attract. Last, but definitely not least, number three goes to Narubate and Soh from “Nang Rai Sai Lap.” That’s how awesome this lakorn is. I’m no fan of Margie nor Margie and Peter, but her character and Peter’s character possessed perhaps the MOST NATURAL romantic buildup that I’ve ever seen in a lakorn. Truly realistic and sweet.
20. Top 3 actor/actress pairing?
– Ken and Anne takes the first spot at numero uno of course. Coming up closely is Tik and Aom, then finally Num and Kob. I’d die for the three pairs to reunite!

Hello Lakornfan- thanks for chiming in 🙂 I’ve enjoyed reading your take on the 20 questions. I think this can be an ongoing/ever changing 20 questions because some wonderful lakorn may come along and knock the rest of our answers off of their podium. I did like Num and Kob from back in the day, would be interesting to see them paired up together again, however, as time passes by, my fangirl days over Num is sadly over. Happy lakorn watching!

Mine is a somewhat biased view because I haven’t watched that many lakorns, mainly the ones starring Umm Atichart and some others here and there, mostly from Ch3. I hardly ever watch the lakorns from Ch5.
1. How did you start watching lakorns?
– I’m Singaporean, and sadly Thai lakorns are not exported to my country. But I got to know about them from my online friend in China, and I was hooked after watching Jam Loey Rak in April 2012.
2. Your all time favorite lakorn?
– I’m torn between Jam Loey Rak and Khun Chai Ratchanon. For the former, it’s gripping and I find myself periodically returning to re-watch certain episodes. And each time it’s still engaging. For Ratchanon, it’s the beautiful scenery, charming interiors of the palaces, awesome soundtrack, interesting storyline, and swoon-worthy Chao Luang Rangsiman.
3. Your least favorite lakorn?
– Fai Ruk Arsoon, it’s totally misogynistic.
4. Your favourite lakorn OST?
– Khun Chai Ratchanon. I love Gun Napat’s version of the theme song, and super love the Thai oldies that accompany the love scenes of Chai Lek / Soifah and Chat / Janta.
5. The last lakorn you watched?
– The Sixth Sense 2
6. What lakorn are you currently watching?
– None at the moment. I tend to watch the ones with actors whom I fancy.
7. A lakorn you looked forward to but disappointed you in the end?
– Dao Kiaw Duen. The trailer and the theme on IVF seemed progressive and refreshing at first, but the story was weak, and fell back into the formulaic “I need to find my Prince Charming” fairytale as the drama wore on.
8. A lakorn you started without expectations but loved it in the end?
– Khun Chai Ronnapee. I’m not a fan of James Ma, so when my friend recommended the lakorn, I wasn’t too motivated to watch it. But I tuned in to the episode in which King Rangsiman was to make a cameo appearance, and while watching that same episode I discovered and fell for Khun Aut (played by Pop Thakoon). From then on I started watching the lakorn in earnest!
9. Preferred lakorn type (revenge, slap/kiss, boran, romcom etc)?
– I confess I have a weakness for slap/ kiss lakorns (eg. Jam Loey Rak, Sawan Biang, Wong Wian Hua Jai and Roy Lae Sanae Luang). But I also like period lakorns set in the 1960s, eg. Khun Chai series, Kaen Sanaeha, Botan Gleep Sudtai.
10. Favorite male/female character?
– Favourite male character: Khun Aut (Pop Thakoon) in Khun Chai Ronnapee. Witty, suave, can dance, gentlemanly, appreciates girls who may not have stunning looks (when everybody goes for the pretty lady). It’s actually a close fight with Sakdina a.k.a Chai Dew (also played by Pop Thakoon) in Kaen Sanaeha, who’s always well-groomed, gentlemanly, polite, loyal to friends, filial to parents (especially to his two mothers), in short a near-perfect guy . But I just wish Chai Dew was a bit more expressive in showing his love towards the girl whom he REALLY likes, rather than sending ambiguous signals.
– Favourite female character: Seemern in Khun Seuk. Devoted to Sema, but does not go out to destroy the relationship between Sema and Reirai. She just quietly supports him even though she knows her love may not be returned.
11. Least favorite male/female character?
– My least favourite male lead character is San (played by Aun Witaya) in Leum Prai Lai Rak. He seems kinda weak and unclear about his own feelings. And his personality is pretty bland and uninteresting compared to his rebellious cousin. My least favourite female character is his nang’ek in the same show, Nicky (played by Rita Jensen). It is so obvious that by falling in love with San (and San became subconsciously attracted to her), she has already destroyed the relationship between San and his fiancée, but she still acts like she is all innocent and didn’t mean to fall in love with him (???!!!???!!).
12. A lakorn character you’d like to be friends with in real life?
– Jarn (played by Beau Savitree), Piengkwan’s BFF in Khun Chai Ronnapee. I would love to have a BFF like her who’d stand up for me when I get bullied, and help me when I’m at work!!
13. A lakorn character you’d marry in real life?
– Suriyawong (played by Umm Atichart) in Roy Mai. Totally devoted to the girl he loves (even when he knows she is already engaged) and super caring.
14. Lakorns are full of psycho villains. Who makes your blood boil the most?
– Bua, the female antagonist in Roy Mai. She continues to torment Princess Maneerin’s reincarnated character (played by Aff) right through to old age, and does not get eliminated in the end. Second place is the villain in The Sixth Sense 2. He doesn’t make my blood boil for being bad, but just irritated the hell out of me because he and his “subordinates” took forever to be eliminated.
15. A lakorn character that is most like you?
– None.
16. Most memorable lakorn confession?
– Khun Chat (Top Jaron) telling Janta that he loves her at the UN dinner, in Khun Chai Ratchanon. The background music, Top Jaron’s eyes gazing into Ploy Pattrakorn’s face, and the embrace were all so moving.
17. Most memorable first meeting of the main couple?
– The Sixth Sense 2 has five couples with divided airtime, so I would count Joe (Top Jaron) and Kanna (Wawwa Nichari) as one of the main couples. The first meeting between Joe and Kanna was one of the most hilarious in the lakorns I’ve watched. Kanna is in her friend’s car, and they are blocked by someone’s four-wheel drive vehicle parked along the road. Kanna kicks the vehicle and attempts to leave a note to the inconsiderate driver. Joe comes along and offers to help. Just when Kanna thinks she has met a nice guy, Joe gets into the four-wheel drive and drives off, leaving Kanna shocked and mad with anger!
18. Favorite lakorn ending?
– Don’t have a favourite at this moment.
19. Top 3 couples in a lakorn?
– Harit / Soraya in Jam Loey Rak – lots of sexual tension throughout the show. Joe / Kanna in The Sixth Sense 2 – cute bickering couple with awesome onscreen chemistry. Kawee / Rin in Sawan Biang.
