‘At long last, the truth’ – Ep 17-18 Recap Evil Game Love Game
Posted on December 4, 2011
This weekend’s episodes marked the end of Charles’ games. All of his evil games towards the love of his life came crashing down as he discovered that she was innocent all along, a mere pawn to her sister’s every whim.
It all started in episode 17 when Fahlada staged a scene to get Chompoopae to see the true colors of Charles. In actuality, the scene created an eye opener for Charles instead- where he realized that even though Fah may have hated him and wanted nothing to do with their previous relationship together- everything she does is for her sister, to protect her sister. This showed Charles a valiant side of Fah.
The scene also showed Fah that her sister would always choose Charles over her, that she has lost that love. Little did she know that the love for her was never there to begin with in Chompoopae’s heart. It is unfortunate in this drama that Fahlada wasn’t given much more depth than unconditional love for her sister. I much prefer the feisty, childish Nang Fah over this grown up, subdued version.
After learning that Chompoopae is Fahlada’s adopted sister, and that she had always been jealous of Fah and vindictive towards her, Charles proposed that they should all live together- peacefully and quietly- under a polygamous roof. His motive for this indecent proposal is that if he stops now, Chompoopae will win. Un-phased, Chompoopae asked that he give her the honor of being his first wife. Charles felt that Chompoopae’s evilness towards Fah is Fah’s karma for what she has done to him. Now who’s vindictive?
Despite it all, Charles recalled his conversation with Sahat who hit the nail on the head when it comes to the depth of his feelings for Fah: everything that you’ve done so far has not only caused pain to Khun Fahlada, you yourself feel no differently. Because you still love Khun Fahlada or your Nang Fah very much, always will and a love that will never change.
And only in a Thai lakorn will a nutty villain try to come up with every excuse to break the main characters apart. In this lakorn’s case, Chompoopae lied to Fahlada that she’s carrying Charles child. She pleaded Fahlada to leave the country because only until then will Charles marry her. Throughout this whole drama, I’m thinking Chompoopae can only do one evil facial expression.
Fahlada believed her sister of course as she has no reasons not to. I suppose we can give her sister credit for sticking to the mindset of ‘keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.’
Preparing to leave Thailand, she confides in Dr. Wattana and tells James and friend to stop their investigation regarding Khun Charles.
Charles on the other hand purchased a room for Fahlada- his next step to acquiring two wives- thinking that they would not want to live close to each other. Fahlada however was having none of that as she confronted him and returned the key back to him. They spat back and forth until Fahlada could not hold on to the stress and constraints of his verbal combats, and passed out.
Charles took Fahlada to the emergency room immediately and proceeded to treat her ever so tenderly. We get a cute Yadech moment, especially when Fah questioned if Charles was the devil or heaven exactly, because she started seeing a little more of the heavenly side of him.
But episode 18 brings everything together nicely.
Fahlada was getting a nightmare while she was sleeping on the hospital bed. It was pouring rain, there’s thunder and lightning, and she was wearing a white summer dress. Squatting by a tree she covered her ears and screamed in fright. Charles saw her tossing in bed, and as he came to her side, he called her Nang Fah over and over. He immediately jumped into bed with her and held her, saying “I’m here for you, don’t be afraid.”
Those words kept the nightmare at bay as Fahlada’s dark dreams shifted into sunny, warm ones. She was walking in shallow water towards a summer hut, the breeze brushing through her hair.
She sees a man’s back, the one that appears in her dreams frequently. But in this dream, he finally turned around, and he called her “Nang Fah.” She was shocked not because of the name, but because of his face. It was the same one as Khun Charles.
Her eyes fluttered open as she looked up and saw Charles sleeping next to her on the hospital bed. He was the man of her dreams. Slowly she traced his face with her finger but stopped when he shifted awake. Oh dear, their moments were so sweeeet.
Yet it was soon over when Dr. Wattana came to her ‘rescue,’ leaving Charles in a frenzy to find her, especially when he thought that all may be well between them.
To prepare for their departure to America, Dr. Wattana has settled her in a room for the time being. Fahlada proceeded to say her goodbyes to her friends and family.
On her farewell at work, she ran into Mamee, who gave her a fright with the same reaction as the first time Charles had seen her. She yelled “Nang Fah!” And ran up to Fahlada, “I can’t believe that we would see each other here! Unbelievable, Nang Fah-“
Fahlada looked around for Charles, thinking that he had set the woman up to this. Sigh, Charles, no matter what, she’s not going to trust you..
This meeting spurred several things to happen accordingly: Mamee is going to get to the bottom of this, why her friend, Nang Fah hasn’t recognized her. She seeks out James and questioned him about Nang Fah, in which she becomes the glue that ties the pieces of puzzle together. Mamee adamantly tells James (and everyone who’s willing to listen) that she knew first hand that Charles and Saichon are the same person, and he is also Nang Fah or Fahlada’s husband. This declaration shocked both men as they listened fervently.
They decided to relay this piece of news to Chompoopae first, since she is Fahlada’s sister, upon which, Chompoopae declared that Mamee was fabricating the whole story. James caught her as she ran out of the coffee shop, “so what will happen between you and Khun Charles if it’s really true?”
“It must end of course. I’m not shameless enough to steal my sister’s husband.”
Oh but you are Chompoopae.
She refused to think that Charles and Fahlada were husband and wife. She refused to believe that she was the person responsible for tearing them apart. Instead she chose to continue pursuing Charles and believe that she simply cannot live without him.
Distrusting Chompoopae, Mamee asked James to take her to see Charles so she can uncover more of the truth behind the misunderstanding. And their reunion is quite touching: Charles running down Seven Seas corporate office stairs and unbelieving to his eyes, he sees Mamee, his childhood friend. They embraced with glee.
And finally, at long last, Charles learns of the truth about Fahlada. Through the help of James, Mamee and Sahat, Charles talked with Dr. Wattana and discovered: one, that Fah never gained her memory from their time in Koh Min. Two, Chompoopae hired Yia-Sah to fool Fah that Yia-Sah was her husband. Three, Fah and Dr. Wattana are not an item; Dr. Wattana vowed that he loved only Chompoopae (who knows why.) And four, that Chompoopae had lied to Fah that she was pregnant with his child.
The underlining factor of everything is: Chompoopae.
Charles was remorse at all of his shenanigans and evil games towards Fah, the person who is a pawn between the ongoing war of Chompoopae and himself.
And he declared that he would do everything in his power to make her forgive him.
Now I’d like to see that.
Some other minor thoughts, I don’t see Chompoopae’s character repenting at all, if anything it will only get worst as she threatened Charles that if he wanted Fah to be safe, he needed to marry her. Then the preview shows her going even more psycho. Really, there’s no going back for her character. I hope she has a horrible ending.
I hope Dr. Wattana joins the attending doctors of Grey’s Hospital in Washington State. Screw Chompoopae.
Pernta and mom have decided to go back home (America) after Charles pointedly rejected her. It was quite a sad scene for Pernta and Sahat, as he hands her a handkerchief with eyes swimming.
It’s nice to see James accepting the Charles-Fah couple. It will only mean he’s ready to be consoled by Mamee!
And finally, I hope that Fah will love Charles for who he is- not because she would all of a sudden gained her memory back… sadly Fah is the only one still left in the dark about her history with Charles.
What think you of this weekend’s installment? Excited for next week?
Unfortunately I will be going on a vacation next week- to Bali- and will be MIA from lakorn commentaries between Wednesday-Saturday. I hope to catch up with GRGR sunday and write my impressions for the 3 episodes the following day. Feel free to vent, discuss and chime in while I’m gone =)
Tagged: Game Rai Game Rak, Nadech Kugimiya, Yaya Urassaya
i’m really thankful for the fast recaps since i cant understand thai. i cant wait for next week! thank you fia!
Thanks Nad, next week’s ep preview looks like a repeat of the time they took NangFah away from Saichon, gasp! I only hope that Charles won’t let it happen this time around. I also hope we get more awesome island scenes =) Exciting indeed!
I know that one of Nadech’s favorite song is “Lucky”, and Fah’s dreaming moment when she was walking through shallow water reminded me of the music video for “Lucky” when Colbie was walking in a white dress through the water.
Great recap! It’s great that all the secrets are out. It just a shame that everybody knows except for Fah. Since there are 3 eps left, we better get a whole episode of them on the island trying to find Fah’s memories. I always hate the previews at the end since they are so misleading, being an episode and a half ahead. I hoped that Saichon would have kidnapped her at the end of this episode but no, that will happen next ep, or it better. Also, from your recap, do you mean pawn instead of pond? Thank you very much for your recap, its always great to read your views.
Love ur recap, from the preview it seems like Fah will take the bullet for Saichon, lets hope that will happen. Also by calling Charles, Saichon Fah must have regain some of the memory, which doesn’t upset me if she remembers and love Saichon again because the island scenes are too unforgettable. I think Fah loves Charles already from the hospital scenes but she is afraid of admitting it because of Prae. Anyway very sad that you won’t be here recap for us next week, but great to hear u taking a vacation. Have a nice holiday and again thanks very much for ur recap.
wish you have a great trip, so jealous
safe trip and i m really thankful for the recap
Hi everyone, I should have a summary combination for all 3 episodes by late next Sunday.
@R. Tan and he does a good job singing it as well =)
@w3irdg3m, omg, how embarrassing, ‘pawn’ is what I meant! Thanks for letting me know, I’ll make the corrections. I agree, those previews are very misleading. I usually don’t pay too much attention, preferring to watching the next episodes instead.
@funnyzz, thanks haha, maybe I’m just selfish and want everyone to love Charles, be it us or Fahlada. Those little snippets of scenes where she’s looking tenderly at Charles has not convinced me that she loves him yet. I hope we get more scenes where he plays ‘love games’ with her and make her forgive him, love him and remember him. Now that, I’d like to see…thanks, I’m looking forward to beach time =)
@Trang thanks, Bali is amazing, every corner you turn, there is a beach.
@val thanks =)
Wonderful review as always. I love their chemistry! I swear they’re the next Ken and Ann.
Ahh, so happy that Charles finally had all his doubts resolved! It was really cute the way he professed his love for Fahlada in front of P’Mor, James, Mami and Sahat! I do hope the make-up scenes will be as loving and wonderful from their time at Min’s Island! I’m so happy Mami was the key to glue everything together! I absolutely dislike Prae and the evil thinking in me wants her to be alone and have regrets for the rest of her life for doing what she did. For treating her 10-year relationship with P’Mor as nothing, for being ungrateful and jealous of her sister who loves her unconditionally and for making Charles cried in such a silent but heartbreaking way! Even after all she did, I think she will have a good ending because Thai lakorns usually plays it out that way. I think Fahlada will take the bullet for her sister at the upcoming episodes and Prae will have a BIG wake up call and realize how much her sister loves her despite what she did and what a b**ch she was!
Despite the ending of Game Rai Game Ruk next weekend, I’m looking forward to the upcoming sweet scenes between Saichon and Nang Fah and the happily ever after!
Best line when Charles said to Prae about Fahlada, “The first, the only and the last girl that I love is Fah!” (epic)
This is one of the most romantic lakorn I’ve watched in a long time and I truly enjoyed the journey as well as a bunch of folks from youtube!
Anyway, thanks for your great recap again and enjoy your trip to Bali! I love Bali and daydream about going there again for the beautiful weather and beaches…:)
@Guest thanks. You’re not alone in feeling that way- the crew in GRGR had mentioned that during the shooting, some of the scenes felt like they were filming with Ann and Ken.
@Mao thanks, Bali is a great place to relax and have fun.. and it’s only a hop away which is great for a quick getaway.
Yeah, I feel the same way about Prae, but decided not to waste my articles trying to claw her eyes out. I’m going to wish her- instead- a horrible demise. But according to the novel, she will end up with P’Mor- gag. No matter how repentant she may feel towards the end, it doesn’t erase all of her self serving, evil, unreasonable shenanigans towards her ‘sister.’ At least to me anyway, ‘nough said.
Nadech and Yaya’s chemistry in this lakorn makes a lot of things forgivable, haha. =)
Just thought I would drop in and say thank you for the enjoyable blog on GRGR. I been watching thai lakorns since I was little but it somewhat fizzle after high school and now in my 30s ( just turned!) I really appreciate a good drama. And boy is GRGR GOOD! Nadech and Yaya are talented newbies.
Gotta say, I am gonna go through some Saichon/Charles withdrawal after next weekend. shhh… dont tell my husband LOL
Thanks again, keep up the good work!
The preview look sad again! I hope he don’t die at the end. That would be very upsetting for me. ;(
Have fun at Bali and relaxed. 😉 Can’t wait for you to come back and recap for us.
I don’t think I will watch or i mean I won’t open my eye when the scene that one of them or Charles got shot. It’s too sad to see that scene.
I wish Bali was a hop away for me also. I missed the beautiful weather, beautiful beach, tropical plants and friendly faces there. If you do make it to Ubud, say hi to the crazy monkeys for me at Monkey Forest! 🙂
The dream Fahlada had in episode 18 when she was wearing the white dress and walking in the water was very bittersweet to me. I really missed their simple and carefree time at Min’s Island and the uninhibited displays of affection Nang Fah displayed towards Saichon!
Although she discovered the man in her dream was Saichon/Charles (finally), it didn’t shake her to the core like I expected. Yes, she touched his face which was sweet but a scene I had in my mind or hope to see or hear her say to Charles after they both are awake in the hospital was, “It was you. It was always you that I’ve been dreaming of and waiting for the past three years…” (followed by long hugs and kisses) Maybe the line I envisioned will be in the upcoming episodes? He he
After writing this, I realized how emotionally invested I am in this particular Thai lakorn. Ahhh…
dude how da heck can prae be forgiven…yes pee mor come to washington, it’ll make us be on the came contenient and i’ll come heal your heartbreak. lamo! in my dreams! hmmm, i usually dream about lakorns, but i havn’t have one lately. i think i’m gonna go rewatch some juicy grgr scenes to scar my brain so i can dream about charles…in the showers.
I just don’t get it. The biggest mystery in GRGR…is how P’Mor and Fah still love Pae. At this point, I’m not nice enough to understand them lol I just want to shake them, especially Fah and teach her some boxing moves that can be practiced on her dear sister! I have to agree, I like the interaction b/w Fah and Charles and how she stands against him but other than that, they don’t really do her character justice! She’s all about her sister and…that’s it.
Mami is our saving grace for real. I can’t believe it and yet I’m thankful, that all it took was this single person who was smarter than all of them, in order to unravel their miscommunications and misunderstandings. It almost makes me laugh myself silly with happiness for P’Mami!!!! Her reunion with Saichon was so cute, like a family, and I think I was relieved to see at least ONE person who loves him reappear. That man has been putting himself through h*ll. And yes, I adored their hospital scenes. Fah’s dream touched me a lot, because it was finally a clear vision of the man she belongs to…of course, it didn’t do much since she still LEFT HIM! Augh! I was going as crazy as Charles himself when she walked out with P’Mor. Charles was being ever so tender, he finally came to his senses (did you notice Sahat’s face while they were discussing at Mor’s place? lol he was nearly tearing up for Charles’ sake).
Pae, what can I say. Pregnant? I was honestly surprised–I thought she’d be more creative. >< Glad that one didn't last long. I loved this weekend's episodes!
@Leang, thanks for leaving your first comment! Indeed, they are talented =)
@Alaina, I don’t think he’s going to die. There must be a happy ending after what we’ve endured!
@Mao, I always get emotionally invested too while watching lakorns, otherwise, why bother? I’m glad to hear that we’re on the same boat =) I can totally relate.
@Godninja, I don’t pay no mind to Prae anymore, especially after hearing that they will give her a happy ending. Life’s not fair and I choose not to waste my energy on her lol. Overall, I forgive the lakorn for some of it’s stupid subplots and character mainly due to Yadech- I wouldn’t bother continuing the lakorn if it were anybody else.
@jjinxx, can you believe RP and GRGR will be coming to a closure soon? Everyone’s coming to their senses, awaiting for the climax.. and then.. happily ever after? What are we going to do with ourselves?! Gotta find our next fix to help ease the withdrawal =)
I hope the last 4+1 lakorn will be better than this one which was too much fanservice and not enough substance. What a disappointment after months and months of waiting for this lakorn. Even the lead couple couldn’t make me forget the stupid plot.
@ASIA, that is the beauty of lakorn watching, it is so subjective. ‘One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure’ comes to mind, in our case, ‘one fan’s spasm is another fan’s eye roll.’ I do hope that you will enjoy the next 4+1 lakorn endeavor =)
I was skeptical when I saw my very first lakorn “Wanida”, but after “Roy Marn” and now “Evil Game Love Game” there’s definitely many more to come ! 🙂
When episodes 17 and 18 were out RAW, I couldn’t help myself and watched them without understanding a single word. Your review has been extremely helpful. ^ ^
Hopefully there’s a happy ending for everyone except prae because she’s an evil manipulative bitch . I’ve always been disappointed with Charles because he let himself be manipulated so easily, to the point where I couldn’t help but question his love for Fahlada. I mean there’s an extent to how much jealousy can affect a relationship, sure there were misunderstandings “A LOT OF MISUNDERSTANDINGS” but still watching him hurt the person he “supposedly” loved was painful to watch.
But once Mami appeared, everything fell back into place. I couldn’t help but smile when I saw prae’s pained expression. Yet was shocked to find how self-centered and selfish she is for not even a glimpse of self-reflection. “Once a cold-hearted ungrateful brat, Now a deceptive, immature %$%^#%#”.
I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISODE ! 😀
@hwaiting Glad to hear that you’re still watching lakorns =) Hope you enjoyed all of GRGR!
Hahaha. I know this lakorn aired in 2011 and it is 2015 now, but I have to say: THANKS FOR ALL YOUR RECAPS! 😀 Watching dramas is never fun when you are doing it alone but when you have people online echoing your thoughts, it sure is fun! And not many people post about Lakorns!! (At least compared to the K Drama world. xD) I have to say though, lakorns hav their own brand of addiction. Hehe.
I DIDNT MAKE THE CONNECTION ABT GREY’S HOSPITAL WANTING TO HIRE P’MOR UNTIL YOU POINTED IT OUT. HAHAHAHA. I do remember that Grey’s hospital once prided themselves as the “best neurosurgeon/etc” in the world. Haha.
Hi Jen! Better late than never! Even after many years this lakorn is still one of my favorites. I’m currently still watching Grey’s (see how loyal I am? I must see this through til the end, whenever that may be) and I wouldn’t mind the now even more mature (and doubly handsome P’Mor) to take residency there. After all Dr Grey is now a widow! Hope you stay addicted to lakorns! Cheers 🙂
