When you hear the term GRGR short for Game Rai Game Rak, you would immediately conjure up the exquisite Yaya and stunning Barry Nadech dressed up in island wear, you would immediately know the storyline and you would know exactly how much everyone has been talking about this- because you are either one of them or too busy telling them to shut up. The hype and screams across Youtube, AsianFuse and various fan clubs is enough to scare a few people away. But maybe you’ll tune in anyway even if you’re skeptical because you want to see this train wrecking before your eyes. In which case I would say, you will be sorely disappointed.
With the combination of Yaya and Barry’s chemistry, their acting, the breathtaking setting and the director’s smart moves, we have a wonderful start to a hopefully wonderful lakorn. Needless to say, I am surprised at how well it turned out but at the same time, will continue to worship the director that brought us Sawan Biang and several Ann-Ken collaborations. I recommend that you watch GRGR (if you haven’t already) or wait until Wishboniko completes her ep 1 subbing.
Since you’re probably aware of the synopsis- from reading it on either Wishy’s site or LakornGods headsup- so I won’t go into details. However, if you decide not to partake in this lakorn or at least this episode, this is what you’ll miss:
- Barry Nadech shirtless- like the entire 1/3 of episode one. I can tell the director is totally fangirling him because we get to see the rippling back muscles, the muscle ridges on his stomach and the smooth, tan shoulders! The woman knows what we want to see!
- The small village on the island of Koh Min coming to life. The production does a wonderful job painting a lovely community. I fancy myself living there..
- Several laugh out loud moments between Saichon and Nang Fah- especially since she has lost her memory and reverts to an 8 year old character, Saichon must teach Nang Fah the intricacies of the differences between a man and a woman. Hilarious. Especially when Nang Fah continues to go against his wishes and either wants to shower with him or sleep with him. This causes Saichon to be frustrated with her and take lots of cold showers. LOL. There are many more awesome scenes that I don’t want to give away so go watch it!
- Need I say Barry and Yaya’s onscreen chemistry? So palpable, so comfortable together and oh so cute you would want to put them in your pocket. If you don’t find them adorable (especially their scenes together) you are really immune. By the end of episode one, I didn’t even feel like I was watching a lakorn, I was drooling so much and looking so stupid with my ridiculous grin, someone ought to slap me.
- Oh and you would think this is all red roses and chocolate, but we have the beginnings of a conflict already! I just love when a director knows what she’s doing.
I can drone on and on why you should watch it, but in the end, it’s your choice. I personally wouldn’t miss it 🙂 I’m actually going to rewatch it haah!

I watched it raw -the first episode- and for now I prefer RP’s first one to GRGR. But GRGR has a better first episode than it’s predecessors especially roy marne (sorry but its storyline did nothing for me and I still think Margie’s acting there was over the top). some unrealistic scenes like the one when she was inconscious and he was by side holding her hand. It’s cute but oh so unrealistic ! Maybe this is a mystery drama. Nadesh has a cute smile !I agree with you Best thing about it is Nadesh and Yaya chemistry. Still they don’t top ateam for me because as I said they still are too juvenile.
And I wanted to add the director just must tone down the “face-to-face” scenes. I hope in the next episodes there will not be too many to make their pair more natural. otherwise they have chemistry
I’m with you Fia, how I can even coherently express how nice (nice?!) the beginning was is crazy. And I just know it’s going to get better and better. I especially love the island, it’s truly paradise and the perfect setting for such a fantasy love like Saichon and Nangfah’s. My LOL moments: Nangfah putting the bra over her eyes (I was just waiting or her to do something silly with it but was not expecting that!), the butt-slapping, Nangfah’s bathroom emergency face, Saichon hiding behind the bathing tub. Lordy, Yadech just know how to complete every scene. And I won’t even mention their little sizzle moments. Eep.
Not so much a fan of Nadech but I adore Yaya. I enjoy the first episode. Not sure if I will like the later half of the lakorn. 22 episodes sure sounds scary. I don’t know how long they will stretch Saichon’s stupidity. Haha okay I am just jumping into conclusion here. But the whole revenge thing in this lakorn is not my cup of tea.
@fun, according to the GRGR post on Lakorngods, 22 ep is still unconfirmed so perhaps it will only be 15-16 ep and hope that will make the story tighter.

Uh, just saw the newsflash on LG, so GRGR will be having 21 ep after all. Since the story sounds like 2 lakorns in one, I guess they have enough material!
Hey y’all, well at least you’ve given ep 1 a chance. If by now you still haven’t caught the fever, then I am willing to be crazy with jjinxx, J (still counting on you) and the rest of the YaDech’s fans Lol. It’s all good, we can’t force ourselves to like something- especially when we’ve made up our minds.
@Jjinxx- those are my favorite scenes as well! Actually, I like all of ep 1.
@J- 21 ep- I usually find that lakorns airing on the Fri-Sun slot goes by too quickly, so I’m glad to hear that.
@ Everyone again, I’ve come to realize one thing and has been pondering this last night. The title OST sounds completely mature and somber right? We have to be aware that the first part of the lakorns, our Pra’nangs are supposed to be very young. Instead of finding them juvenile, I find them youthful. Refreshing. Their acting is wonderful and natural, they are certainly not stiff- compared to the rest of the lots their age. We all know that the tone of the lakorn will change, perhaps to depict the song? They will grow into their mature roles and give us another side. I anticipate the arch of their characters- especially Saichon, who has grown up in a pure, untouched village. With the events that will occur to him- loving a woman with all of his heart and watching her being wrench away from him- that will make anyone grow up, and fast- and then to realize that she has “played” him. My heart just went pitter-patter. Clearly I am looking forward to all 21 eps, believe me, it will go by so fast- at least we can’t say they don’t have enough time to give us a wonderful story.

Alright here are the different ideas of my ” fanfiction”.
First this is about the confrontation between a mob boss -Om play his wayu type of role- and Aff is a sadistic and dangerous woman who hides her true self behind her nice seemingly harmless prosecutor indentity. She is the kind of woman who likes to show good appearance to other people and she comes from a well-to-do family. There is no particular reason behind Aff’s personality just she has fun playing with people life and be in controle -In Highschoo she bullied her friends a bit like “Manami” character in the jdrama “life”. She has been in charge of Om’s business case for some times now. Everyone gets fooled by the perfect and delicate appearance of this woman except Om who can see right through her. Om would keep his wayu traits : a young mob boss who runs some unlawful activities but who can have “good heart”. She can’t accept to see that her cousin has some relationship with Om and she is his fiancee, because it tarnishes her and her family reputation. Therefore she is a bit responsible in her cousin death. Om knows that and he wants to revenge. There will be some intense interraction between them…whoa I see my summary I think to myself : it will be hard to write this kind of storyline. To begin with I am a bad writer -French or English. So I can’t write “juicy” scenes because I pretty much suck at it. And the fact that I lack technical English words doesn’t help either.
Second this time Om plays a young prosecutor and he suspects Aff of her late husband death. The latter was Hi-so man. his hides her true self there too. Their interractions would be intense since Aff intimidates him somewhat and she is physically attracted to him. Aff will have some Maneerin characteristics there : pushy, determinated, a little self-centered and sadistic. She is older than him but she doesn’t look her age -like Aff in real life.
Third Om plays bad mob boss and Aff a police officer who wants justice.

I loved epi 1; although it might seem over the top I laughed and giggled and screamed throughout…I am not a crazy Yadech fan but I do love them both! They are doing great for newbies and I am looking forward to whole lakorn…GRGR fighting!!!!

Reading this summary bring me back to the first time I watched Grgr. I would squealed to myself and squeeze my pillow when it get to the sweet scene of Saichon and Nangfah. I love the island part. Till this day I rewatch the lakorn over and over again. I don’t think I can ever get tired of grgr.
