Episodes 13 and 14 brings Roy Mai closer to the climax of the lakorn, the end all. Unless the production has decided to change the duration of the lakorn, it should end next Monday at episode 15, which I don’t care to think about right now. Why can’t this lakorn go on and on? I will be happy to live vicariously through Siriwong and Maneerin’s world, for a long time to come.
By way of summary, episode 13 marks the end of Mei as she takes her own life to prove her boss’s innocence (Siriwattana suspects Bua Ngern for slowly poisoning his father.) You may wonder how she got her ugly face after her death, well, while trying to prove her innocence, Bua Ngern gets hold of a steaming iron and unceremoniously plastered it on her maids face.
Siriwong and Maneerin are madly in love, having secret rendezvous all over the royal palace. Their scenes never get old, it is as sweet as pie. I recall a scene where Siriwong hugs Maneerin from behind and rests his head nicely in the crook of her neck, and I thought to myself, they sure make a fine couple. It was decided then that Siriwong will be the one to confess to his brother about their relationship. Being the optimist, he says his brother will understand them. Maneerin however, is concerned. She asks him, “what if we’re torn apart?” He comforts her with “there is no way we will be apart. Except in death. You are my first love, true love and only love. Always.” When was the last time someone told you that?
But, his own comment is the impending foreshadow of his fate.
As the episode progresses, we learn that most of everyone are aware of Siriwong’s and Maneerin’s love. Pan warns Siriwong that certain things can be prolonged, but this truth cannot. Siriwong musters up the courage to confess, but before he was able to do that, Siriwattana tells him that he will be out of town for 3-4 days. This gave us more time to watch Siriwong and Maneerin’s sweet scenes. They are so picture perfect as she lays in his arms while he plays his instruments. Little did they know that Siriwattana was spying on them. That evening, the real confrontation between the brothers undid me and that’s when the waterworks started.
When Siriwong marches into his brother’s office, it was like a death march. He tries to confess but tells Siriwattana that he doesn’t know where to start. Siriwattana aided him, “why not start where you left off last week in the office?” Siriwong then knew that his brother has seen him and Maneerin’s rendezvous. He apologizes but the tension is coiled and bounced between one brother to the other. It was a powerful scene.
Siriwattana decides to ask Maneerin between her duty and love, what was more important to her. Maneerin goes on her knees and begs him for the goodness in his heart to let her and Siriwong be together. Siriwattana seeths with anger, he asks her, did she not know that he has given her his heart a long time ago, he gave her all of it and how can he let her go? But Maneerin says that if it is true love he feels, why doesn’t he want to see someone he love be happy? But Siriwattana furiously forbids it.
In present time, Rerin is hiding out from Suriya by staying with Kamtiang’s descendent. As episode 14 starts, we learned that she has just finished Pan’s journal. She is determined to finish the loom and to return to the museum, but unfortunately the lock has changed. This time around, luck was on her side and someone has left it unlocked.
Suriya walks around the museum and wistfully, I wish he could see his past life too, Rerin is having all of the fun. Suriya knew that Rerin had some unfinished business, so he left the room unlocked for her. As he circles the museum room, he noticed a photo of Princess Maneerin. And she looks unerringly like Rerin. Could it be a coincidence? Will he believe her?
Going back to the past, Bua Ngern tries to talk to Siriwong and advises him that he should elope with Maneerin. I wished he took her word for it.
And the start of our heartbreaking scenes commences. It is Songkran, a day to receive blessings from the elders and a day to celebrate with water and fun. Siriwong has prepared a beautiful, golden hairpiece for Maneerin and tells her maid that they would rendezvous by the river. Meanwhile Bua Ngern has more evil plans up her sleeve. Mei has returned to her as a ghost and is willing to do her bidding. She contrived to get Mei to possess Siriwattana so as he can get rid of Maneerin for them.
It was a happy moment for Siriwong and Maneerin as he presents her with the gold hairpiece. He tells her that he is not afraid of what can happen. He knows what love is and he is fearless. But their sweet moment came to an end. Pan has warned Siriwong that it was like the calm before the storm. Indeed. Siriwattana, possessed by Mei and with an entourage of guards, proceeds to the river area. Siriwong tells Maneerin to take off first as he deals with Siriwattana’s wrath. He’s his brother, right? The older prince would not hurt him. And that is where he was wrong.

Siriwong’s inevitable fate is not surprising- we knew this will happen. Yet when he declares that he would rather die for Maneerin, while grabbing his brother’s sword with both hands, as the edges slice into his hands, and his brother stomps on him as he endures the pain, I can no longer steel my heart from the storm of tears that overwhelmed me. Shortly after Siriwong body lies floating on the river, Maneerin dashes back in to see him. That’s when I can no longer hold back the tears. Maneerin screams out her anguish and rushes to see him. She drags his body to land (it’s a short distance) and hugs his body to her. Siriwong still has his last breath when he tells her that he will never forget her face. He also tells her that he knows how to complete his poem and proceeds to read the last few lines slowly as Maneerin cries, holding him tightly to her. As he slowly dies in her arms, he tells her that no matter the time, century or life, he will always love her.
Maneerin’s face crumbles as she realizes that the love of her life is dead. She shakes him as if to wake him up but to no avail. A short distance away, Siriwattana sees a Buddha and Mei’s spirit is evoked from his body. With the bloody instrument in his hands, he realizes what he’s done. His regret and angiush was heard through the river and woods.
The day goes by and Maneerin is like a shell of a body, her soul and spirit dying from the inside. She doesn’t eat, doesn’t speak and wiles away her time thinking about ways to be with Siriwong again. A thought came to her as Siriwattana orders her to finish the loom and marry him. She agrees to finish the loom, but only to use it to strangle herself to death.
Siriwattana is still convinced Maneerin would be his. He begs him to forgive her and to allow him to make it up to Siriwong’s death by taking care of her. Give him a chance, he pleads. But Maneerin utters “whether it is this life or another life, I will never love you. Give me back my love or let me die..”
And my heart breaks.

Fia, my heart is broken here. The scenes before and after death is so powerful and so sad….
I am still sad too. I guess the cure for roy Mai heartbreak is next week episode how Rerin and Suriya will end together since they are fated to be.
Hi Happysinyoon and ASIA!
I know, up until now Rerin and Suriya hasn’t had a lot of screen time so I’m excited about that too. But it’s bittersweet because we won’t see the dynamic and beautiful love story of Maneerin and Siriwong. They are one of a kind.. with a headstrong princess and our sweet Prince. I am going to miss them.
I hope Rerin and Suriya’s love story will be just as wonderful, but in a different way- with that being said, we only have an episode to tie everything up which is way too short! I wish we can have 3-4 more episodes, focused on Rerin and Suriya 🙂 That would be a treat and a dream come true.. and certainly, a cure for the heartbreak!
xoxo Fia
haha, Fia, could you wirte a letter to CH3 please then? ask them to extend for another 3 episodes?? I dun want it to be end so soon too, wanna see more of the love scenes of Suriya and Renin na….
LOL, happysinyoon, I am on it!
haha, since i dun speak and read Thai, so i can only relied on you now, hihi. Anyway, hope they can hv a special episode about Behind the Scenes may be…if they dun hv 2 more episodes for us…
I am so tempted to read!!!
Fun- there’s lots of spoilers, but even with them, it’s hard to control the emotion that will sweep you off your feet. I would always recommend that you watch it first though. Then you can join in our sad, depressive state lol.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH ! Lovefia ! Always Ateam supporters !
Seriously ! Are you still awake ? If yes tell me what do you think about our girl’s acting yesterday ? Seriously I just have to think about her sad face and I feel sorrow. I didn’t know Aff could so convincingly ! As I told you before, although I am her fan I have always thought she lacked some acting skills and she didn’t emote well. How wrong was I ! Girl blew me away yesterday. Other actresses might have overact this kind of scene easily by screaming or whatever. Aff was just spot on…
Besides what do you think about the soundtrack ? I am obsseded about it. Yesterday I couldn’t stop listening to it.
Hi Lilly, i think her acting is really improving a lot since JLR. The only thing is her make up is a bit too ‘thick’ for me…if she looks like more pale then it make us sadder, i think. I like her make up when she is in the market with Nong Noi at the beginning episodes, she looks so beauty(in a nature way without inch of powder/foundation on her face). Other than that i love everything about her, even the crying scenes(not the crying scenes frm Jai Rao though).
Maybe but I was so into the scene that I didn’ t focuse on it. Aff had the right tone, her voice and everything else. Seriously I respect her here as an actress now. I just see the same scene when she cries and I cry too.
I am in the scene too but i guess it was me who like to see the way they did the make up and clothing too. yup, agreed with u that she is really an actress now, her cry in Jai Rao cant make me cry at all, i just feel a bit annoyed. But these scenes after death is really torn my heart. Its so so sad 🙁 🙁 🙁 i hope they will hv some more sweet scenes in the real life to cure our broken heart though….
Hi Lilly-
I’m still up, I took my own advice about having an extended teatime with lots of sweets as a means to cheer me up, however the results reveal that I’m still sad but highly caffeinated.
I love Aff’s acting in the last two episodes, she shows her versatility in being head over heels in love with her prince, then devastated by the loss of her only love. When she cries, I cry. Everyone react to his/her loss differently, but I thought Aff carried out her “lifeless body” to a tee. She made us feel that to her, there is nothing left to live for…
Aum’s acting is always amazing, his restraint and pent up torment about hurting his brother but wanting to be with the princess at the same time is so heart breaking- then to realize that his brother killed him and still defend him- shows great character.
Whereas Siriwattana (Chai does a wonderful job portraying him) is so selfish, mere hours after his brother’s death, he has the gall to ask for her to open her heart to him. Even though he didn’t kill Siriwong, at least give the girl some time. So it totally serves him right when she told him in his face that she will never love him- no matter what lifetime. It seems the spirit of Siriwattana realizes that now. Either way, his selfishness propels the villain (B.N.) into action and end Maneerin’s life. So I’m waiting to see how all of that will play out on Monday, and also see the spotlight on Rerin and Suriya’s love story.
Sigh.. what am I going to do with Ateam, they are so wonderful and perfect together!
As for the song by Aum, love it as well! It’s somber and it fits the lakorn perfectly.
Did I say Aum is handsome in this show. As Siriwong he just shines. I heard that Ken Puppom was supposed to act Siriwong/Suriya part before it went to Aum. I don’t think this Ken boy (who is a newcomer) might have act this character as well as Aum does. Aum killed it !
No arguments there, I am an Aum fan through and through. Besides, he is so darn handsome in Roy Mai- every shot is a killer shot (not literally!) I thought he looked great with the black button down and jeans as Suriya and wonderful in those satiny greens and blues as Siriwong. Heck, even in the commoner getup as “Ai Noi” he is super cute, shows off his buff physique nicely.

Each time this scene gets me…Aff did a great job
Indeed. She is one of the very few who is beautiful when she cries. And crying is more than the tears, it’s the voice and facial expressions. Aff wins hands down…
The soundtrack I am asking you about is this one :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=eSDg-s2ZmE0
from the begining to 2:37. I don’t even before watching episode 14 I felt that this tune had a sad, epic, romantic and death feel about it. As if it’s a foreshadow of the tragedy which occured later. I love it. I can’t stop listening to it.
Oh my god Lilly, I’m so sorry. My brain is so high on caffeine that I failed to understand you, three times LOL- not laughing at you, laughing at myself- for my dim witted moment. It’s the instrumental music you’re talking about right? The beautiful violin (or something like that) followed by a symphony of hummings. Did you find out the name of it?
Lol lovefia :
No I didn’t ! I would like to because I can’t stop listening to it
I’ll see if I can help you find the name of the music tomorrow. It’s going on 1am here and I should probably “try” to get some shut eye. Goodnight and chat with you soon!
I tried using SoundHound to help find the name of the song, but what makes me think an app can help me find a song in a lakorn? Lol, so silly. I was hoping it was a mainstream instrumental music..
Lol ! It’s ok ! Thank you for your help.
Do you feel better now ? is still Roy Mai the only lakorn you watch ?
No problem, my pleasure..although I didn’t help much :P.
Yes, Roy Mai is the only lakorn I’m watching right now. Nothing else is appealing to me or sustaining my attention. Isn’t it crazy to have a lakorn affect you so deeply? I’m feeling better after a long chat with a friend at a coffee shop and drinking at least 3 lattes. Now I think I need 3 tylenols hehe.
Lol ! Keep the cure ! But I think next episode will be the real cure. Me too none other show can appeal to me. Roy Mai is a “striking” lakorn because as I said each episode makes me discover something which affects me and makes me love this show. This lakorn is not perfect technically (Rerin/Suriya undeveloped storyline, some bloopers and too much time waste on Bua Ngern and Mei) but it’s efficient. Each episode has a little thing which marks and sets Roy Mai apart among the other lakorns, something I didn’t feel for an ancient lakorn like Tas Rak for example.
Hi Lilly,
Phew! I thought I was the only one. I didn’t care much for Tas Rak either. That series seem to drag on and on, at least it did for me. I only watched it for Janie and Cherry. Mart annoyed the crap out of me with his constant pouting. He’s supposedly going to be with Anne in Qi Pao (another cloth series similar to Roy Mai). I wished they picked another actor to pair with her instead. Lol
I actually enjoyed Tas Rak, even Mart’s character! I know, I need to get my eyes checked or something but I can’t deny I liked Prince Darb – Mart’s acting notwithstanding. Still, I’m with you on hoping another actor gets to pair with Ann on Qi Pao.
Anyway, I digress … I’ve kinda lost the momentum with RM and am trying to pick it back now.
ROFL J.
I find it hard to get back into the groove of things when you loose the momentum, but RM is “so good” it won’t be too hard- but that’s just my biased, unhumble opinion hehe.
J,
No you don’t need your eyes checked. Lol Mart is a cutie, but I enjoy watching him in romantic comedies more. I first watched him in Likit Gammathep, but he didn’t annoy me as much back then. The way he portrayed Prince Darb in Tas Rak just irked me so much that I forwarded thru a lot of his scenes with Cherry and focused more on Por and Janie’s scenes. Haha
Hijacking your post again Fia …
Ne, how was Likit Gammathep? I tried watching before for Ann’s sake but the youtube video quality was quite bad and the first episode didn’t attract me so I didn’t continue.
J,
LG wasn’t that bad. It was the first lakorn of Anne’s that I watched before leaving to Thailand for vacation in 2007. My cousin had me watch it because she thought Mart was cute. At the time, I saw half of it with English subs and the rest without because whoever was subbing it at that time dropped the project. it started off slow, but got better as it went on. I’m biased. Anne does a great job acting and bringing on the water works. 🙂
When I said first lakorn…I mean first series in a decade. The last time I watched lakorns before 2007 was back in the late 1990s when Saranyu, Willy, and Mew were the main draw.
Personally, I enjoy the romcoms more than dramas. But the dramas I’ve enjoyed are Sawan Biang, Wanida, and Roy Mai.
Thank you ! and good night
Wow, just wonder how to end everything nicely in one episode~
me too, and they have a scene where Tharin is trying to kill Renin too…oh gosh, so so rush…I bet Bua Ngern muz speak a lot coz this will be the last time she can talk(oh no, is to scold and blame her for taking her love away!) to Renin…
Wow, I was wonder how everything ends in one episode…!
Me too. We shall wait and see..and hopefully be amaze again!
hihi, not getting ready for your short trip yet?
I’m a total procrastinator. My train leaves at 8pm, plenty of time right?… Any plans this weekend? I’m wondering if you’re skipping through this entire post (as not to get spoiled..) No pressure about RM, really, you have until Sunday 🙂 I want to hear your thoughts on it!
Fellow procrastinator here, I totally get you! XD No special plans for my weekend, most likely more drama watching and maybe get some blog posts out.
Ok, I admit, I peeked at your entry. Haa, I should be up to speed this weekend because I’ll likely ff the voodoo episodes.
Fabulous! I’m holding you to it.. 😛 Can’t wait to read more posts at “Scribblings of a Fangirl.”
Hi Fia,
Great summary. I’m barely finishing up episode 13. The dialect is hard for me to comprehend so I have to wait for Wishboniko to upload new clips of Roy Mai. Can’t wait to watch it.
BTW, the KLLJ lakorn finished yesterday so you can watch the ending now. I still need to watch the last episode myself. I enjoyed the series, but got tired of hearing Ken’s nasal breathing into his microphone. LOL
Ah.. Ne, prepare a box of tissues for ep 14 RM. I will watch the ending of KRLJ on Sunday.. I saw about 30 minutes of the second to the last episode and was cringing so much I had to change the channel lol. Is it me or is Janie different? Her features.. facial expressions.. I’m all confused.
Fia,
Omg girl! LOL I was thinking the same thing about Janie. Did she get some collagen lip injection or something? I loved her in Yok Lai Mek, Sapai Loogk Toong, and the hot, single, sexy whatever it was called with Film. But yea, something is different about her in this series.
I skimmed thru the 14th episode of RM. I couldn’t take it anymore because I don’t understand the northern dialect and tired of Siriwattana, Bua Ngeurn, and Mei. But from what I saw, it’s sad. I knew he was going to be killed, but just figuring out how the princess ends up dying. Either by her own hands or by someone else’s.
What are you planning to watch after RM concludes? 🙂
Hm.. what’s next on my lakorn radar.. not exactly sure. I’ll probably write a post about my speculations, after RM comes to a closure. At this point, I don’t see a lot of interesting pair-ups or storyline, but you never know. There is GRGR and rumors of a 22 episode series, so not sure if I can handle that many episodes- for ch.3 it is unheard of. Another factor against it is the airing slot- Fri-Sun- that is a lot of commitment to ask of a fan lol. I mean, I don’t actually have to watch everything live.. so we’ll see.
What about you? What’s your drama watching plan after RM and KRLJ?
22 episodes? Haven’t seen series as long as the ones in the 1990s! LOL who has that much time on their hands? They dragged KRLJ to 16 episodes when it could’ve been 14 or 15 tops!
There aren’t any lakorns I want to see for the rest of this year. I usually follow Anne, Ken, and Janie. I thought Tik and Anne were going to be paired, but guess not for now. I’ll just watch A Little Thing Called Love and Suckseed on YouTube. Won’t bother checking out GRGR because I’m not familiar with Yaya or Nadech. They seem to attract a young 20 something crowd. 🙂
To be objective, YaDech (Yaya+Nadech) is an appealing couple and I believe attract people of all ages. Since they are young themselves, I’m sure the large majority of their fan base may be their peers. Having said that, they are my guilty pleasure- without any rhyme or reason aside from they are absurdly cute together.
So does that mean no more lakorns for the rest of the year for you? Or am I reading it wrong heeh? That would be tough for me.. I am a sucker for lakorns, whether they are good or bad lol. I sure hope to still see you around though, as I so enjoy chatting with you! Thank you for your continued visits Ne! xoxo Fia
I bookmarked your blog so I won’t be a stranger. 🙂
Yea you read right. Won’t be checking out any new lakorns until 2012. I might rewatch some series I’ve previously seen or watch the one with Anne & Chakrit…finally.
Wonderful…feel free to chime in on any future topics.. Enjoy Anne and Chakrit 🙂
@Ne, I’ll check if there are Chinese subs for LG (the video quality is sometimes better than the Eng subbed ones) and might give it a shot!
@Fia, have fun on your trip and chat with you again when you’re back! 🙂
Thanks J!
Hi lovefia !
Are you still up ? I don’t want Roy Mai to end ! Nooooooooooooooo ! I want more Ateam ! I love their magic chemistry ! Aum is so handsome in Roy Mai that it is hard to digest. I hate him because each time I watch Roy Mai I can’t help but pause or rewind to hear his soft toned voice. The characters he plays don’t help.
About Janie I notice that her face looks less and less natural. She is losing her cute factor.
About Yadesh, I would be ok with them if people didn’t make them like the best thing which happen to the world. Besides I have hard time to take them seriously because they still have a juvenile vibe about them. I guess I am getting old since onscreen pairs who are too young don’t attract me like before.
Have nice week end too !
More Ateam tomorrow, yay!
Yay ! Welcome back Lovefia ! Did you have a nice trip ?
Tomorrow is last episode ! sniff sniff
Hi Fia, welcome back! 🙂 I was listening to POTATO’s songs on yt (love the band) when one of the vids happened to be Namtan Mai’s OST and once again I’m amazed by the different emotions that can be expressed through Aum’s eyes. He has the possessive look in NM but in RM, he is always so gentle when looking at Aff. <3
Thanks guys! Had a wonderful time in the mountains, the weather was balmy, fresh and so easy to breathe. The train ride was great as well, but unfortunately on both legs (to and fro) we rode at night so was unable to see the landscape.
@Lilly- I hope we are rewarded with a great ending! I’m so ready!!
@J- I love Potato as well! I don’t recall them singing for Namtan Mai, but that’s probably because I didn’t give NM my whole attention, hehe. I only watched Ateam scenes and every one of them are so worth it. Do you recall the scene where he hugged her, after climbing her fence (I think) and seriously sniffed her hair? Love Aum’s eyes- he can really get into character.
After reading your last post, I take it you’re not caught up yet with RM? hehe.. it’s all good, a fast way to do that is the FF button. It’s our friend 🙂
I think it’s the ending song for Namtan Mai? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZVp7NlNG6A
Haa, though I didn’t like NM much either, but the Ateam scenes were all pretty intense. Yes, I remember the hair sniffing scenes… Aum does that a lot. lol
I’m gonna devote tonight to RM and utilise the ff button for Bua Ngern!
oh Lol, I have heard that song in NM, didn’t realized it was Potato! I like their song in Janie/Ken lakorn “Ruk Nee Hua Jai Rao Jong” too.
I love that song too! It was probably my second or third Potato song.
I finished ep 9 in like 10 min with massive ff. XD I can’t imagine you watched the whole thing in full!
Shakes head. The things fans do! Enjoy RM, the good stuff is coming.
Aum eyes speak. I can’t wait for tomorrow
