Two years ago Alin was the number one actress in Thailand, yet because of her temperament, diva-like attitude and her inability to get along with others, she pushed herself away from the entertainment industry. Alin is a force to be reckoned with; she came from a rich family and possessed enough exterior confidence for several people. Not many people however, can see the slight insecurities and self consciousness within her. Being out of the picture for a couple of years can do that to even the most confident of person.
She was later approached with an opportunity to get back into the entertainment industry. A firm was looking for a celebrity to host their cooking show. When Alin met the President of the firm, Anucha, she instantly surmised that he is the perfect man. Based on her standards, she decided to pursue him and impress him by winning the cooking competition. The first problem however, is learning how to cook.
Pasu (Din, Kru Cook) is a calm, considerate yet very stubborn and head strong individual. He is also the illegitimate son of a high so family. Although his mother and he were recognized as part of the family, he is still tormented with the stigma. Thus he is determined to make it on his own and thus became the top of his school and a very established chef. The lakorn takes a turn when Kru Cook decides to teach Alin how to cook, knowing full well what type of a person she is. His best friend Patikorn along with her own father fears her and will do everything in their power to make her happy. Kru Cook on the other hand, is the only person who will not give in to her and in turn made her a better person. He slowly falls in love with her and able to accept her for who she is, but can he accept himself for who he is? Can he move pass the fact that he is an illegitimate son and worthy of true love from Alin?
Alin in contrast, conjured up her perfect match with Anucha and is determined to do anything to marry him, oblivious to the history that he has with Sopita and her feelings for Kru Cook. Will Alin realize that her dream man is the man who is standing right in front of her or will she continue to pursue the man she conjure up as her perfect match? Will this recipe for love work out in the end?
I believe it is a sucessful recipe, we have romantic encounters, amazing chemistry, strong n’ek’s and a believeable storyline. I’ve enjoyed Sood Saneha and I would say that it is one of those rare lakorns that fans are lucky to view. It is hard to fine a strong n’ek who doesn’t require any assistance from the pr’ek. She doesn’t require any rescuing. Alin’s character is a good role model in that she goes after what she wants, albeit a little blindly. Minus the manipulations and frequent temper tantrums, female viewers out there can use some of her confidence and candor. My favorite scene is when Alin discovered the truth about Anucha and she opened a can of whoop-ass for him, I think she was more furious about his inability to protect his family than him lying to her. It shows her true character and what is important to her. I’ve also enjoyed the numerous scenes where Alin begs Kru Cook to help her. Despite Kru Cook acting like he is immune to her charm, he always succombs. If viewers do not think that this lakorn is romantic, then we must be talking about different lakorns here. Not only is Sood Saneha funny, it is highly romantic and contemplative.

This lakorn was cute! I watched it for Anne and Ken, but especially for Willy. I had a huge crush on him back when he was the “it factor” in the 90s lakorns.
gosh, I love your review as much as I love the lakorn and the main actor and actress… I just happened to know Thai lakorn in abt a month, and so in love with Ann and Ken’s lakorns. at first, I read this because of love recipe, now I am gonna read all your reviews because of your writing… Thanks a lot
Thanks Trang. First of all, your comment made my day. I adore ‘A Recipe for Love’ as well, it is such a well crafted drama, made even more wonderful by Ann and Ken’s chemistry- especially Ann’s diva attitude. Even though she is a tough cookie, at the end of the day, she is a reasonable and well adjusted person- who doesn’t love a heroine like that? It is one of those dramas to be remembered for many years to come. I hope you continue to watch and enjoy lakorns.
so true Fia, I am girl, so its not usual I love the female character more than a male one, but in this lakorn, who cannot love her that much? I just cant stop smiling when she always answers …because i am rich, I am beautiful, I am perfect so I …. I wonder who can say it with that confidence? thing is, she truly thinks that, and I myself think she is telling the truth hahahah, and the couple’s chemistry is rarely seen in other actors and actresses, and for most of the couple’s lakorns together, they have the best scripts ever, I am still reading your writing, but have to leave for Gym now… looking forward to your new post…
Whoa. I just got into lakorn lately. It’s quite hard to find info on them, so I’m very happy to see your blog. This is the 2nd lakorn I managed to finish amidst numerous lakorn that I have abandoned in the past week. So far it’s hit and miss for me – I’m still trying to understand my taste. Thanks for the blog! It will surely be one of my barometers while I’m still at the newbie stage.
Hi blahblahh, thanks. Seeing that you finished this lakorn, I hope you enjoyed it. Sood Saneha is one of my favorites. Sometimes lakorns are a hit and miss and one has to watch lots of them to discover one’s taste. I hope you find this blog helpful along the way and that you continue to watch and enjoy lakorns. Just out of curiosity, what was a hit and a miss for you thus far?
Hits: Sawan Biang & Sood Saneha. I’m almost embarrassed to type Sawan Biang. I’m being politically incorrect by loving that one but I can’t help myself. I fall hood, line and sinker. I will defend myself by saying that Ken’s acting is riveting. The character and the acting reminds me of Jo In Sung in What Happens In Bali – one of my fave k-drama ever.
Misses (incomplete viewing):
Jam Loey Rak
Jai Rao
Rak Ne Hua Jai Rao Jong
Kaew Tah Pee
Sapai Glai Peun Tiang
Oum Ruk
I drop them due to (in my opinion) the combination of uninteresting multiple storylines, flat acting, annoying characters and crazy/stupid plots. Of course, as you’ve said it, at the end of the day it all comes down to one’s taste. Either you feel it or you don’t.
Thanks for replying Fia. I’m feeling like a kid in a candy store with no one to share the goods with. Hihhihhihi. Happy watching and best wishes for your blog.
Haha that’s precisely how I feel about lakorns: a kid in a candy store. And I love exchanging thoughts and ideas with fellow lakorn fans, especially when we’re all currently watching the same lakorns and can spasm together haah.
I don’t blame you, I love Sawan Biang as well and no need to defend something you’ve enjoyed so thoroughly. Especially when it’s so hard to love a drama in its entirety. I hope that you find the next fix soon =) Let me know how you like your next choice, as drama rec’ing is so hard to do when everyone’s tastes are so different. Most of the lakorns you listed as a miss happens to be my hits, lol. (I agree with you about Kaew Tah Pee though, the lakorn left a distinct distaste in my mouth.)
Feel free to come here for lakorn chats blahblahh, should you feel the need to share some of the goodies!
Loved this Lakorn! Anne blew this one out of the water. She was brilliant in her potrayal of Alin. If Sawan Biang was Ken’s show all the way this was Anne’s. Loved the rest of the cast too. I think its a testament to Willy’s and Anne’s acting that they were able to tone down the chemisty between them in this lakorn, when they chemistry between them was phenomanal in Manee Yard Fah. Really liked MYF too btw. I have seen a number of lakorns that have Anne and Ken in the lead had have really liked everyone of them – Oum Ruk, Sawan Biang(almost feel guilty typing this one esp since Kawee was my favorite character in the lakorn. Ok I am horrified with myself), Sood Saneha and 365 Days of love sans the crazy women trying to get Ken. Anyway, this Lakorn is a definite favourite of mine. Too bad the eng subs have been deleted from youtube. I would love catch entire chunks of this again and again when the subs were available.
Lol no need to be horrified at all. I thought my appreciation for SB was justified 🙂 He did have to practically crawl back for her! Anne and Ken make a great pair, but you know, it seems Anne makes a great pair with all of her leading men!
I also love Sood Sanaeha. Alin is one of the strongest nang’ek I have ever seen. She doesn’t need saving even when she is kidnapped. That part is so hilarious.
Just finished watching this lakorn on youtube…have to say it is by far my favorite….regarding all aspects of what makes an excellent lakorn. No wonder why Ann won best actress for this lakorn…..it was my very first of Ann and Ken, now trying to stalk another lakorn with them in it! Ann’s caliber in this lakorn was on a different level from any of the Thai actresses I’ve seen thus far…..she was simply FANTASTIC!!! The ending left me fulfilled/satisfied. Loved it!! any recommendations for another one of Ann’s and Ken’s lakorn and where I could watch please peeps!
Yay! Hopefully you don’t mind my chiming in :). Glad that you enjoy Sood Saneha. Ken and Ann are my favorite Thai actor and actress. Both of them are undoubtedly very talented. I would highly recommend you to watch Sawan Biang next. It’s a slap kiss drama and it’s very famous lakorn. Unfortunately the eng sun youtube account has been deleted. I can’t find any alternative link at the moment. Below are few youtube channels which contain KA’s lakorns as well as their other individual lakorns. You can search those channel on youtube. Oum Ruk is my 2nd favorite after Sood Saneha because it’s a romantic comedy and i love romantic comedy so much!:D. Hopefully you’ll fall in love with them much more after watching these lakorns. Oum Ruk : foolishiris channel,
365 Wan Hang Ruk: Anonyblue1 channel, Rang Ngao: swtannenat channel.
Hi belle, I know this is late but I just saw your reply. Thank you so much for your recommendations..I’ve seen Oum Ruk, a week ago and loved it too.. and Sawan Biang 2 weeks ago…unfortunately… uggh, I’m so bummed that I couldn’t watch episodes 7 to the end bc there were no eng subs available anywhere so I was pretty devastated. 🙁 I even personally emailed Fia if she could do just a brief summary of the last episode especially the final dialogue where Kawee and Khun Rin were reconciling, kneeling down and hugging each other. All I can say is I was bawlin my eyes out…..that’s how great they are bc even someone like me who is not Thai and didn’t understand one single word…. yet almost every dialogue or scene between Ken and Anne that wasn’t eng subbed, I was still able to feel their emotions, their pain & sorrows, then joy at that last reconciliation scene…anyhow, yes I am completely a fan of Ken & Anne, now my new fav onscreen pair is Aum & Janie on Dao Kiaw Duen….I’ve also just finished watching Ken & Janie’s Kon Ruk Luang Jai and “One in my heart” …I even liked their chemistry as well, despite Janie’s fake cheek kisses in KRLJ haha….I just think it all falls back on the fact that these guys are much more experienced which contributes largely to that chemistry with whomever they’re paired with…..they always do a great job. Nonetheless, there’s just something about Anne and Ken that just sets them apart from everyone else…..and I am confident in saying that had they pursued acting here in America, they would probably be some of Hollywood’s top stars in my opinion….thanks again belle 🙂
Why does P’ek have to be a chef. I despite chef!
OMG..I know am 3 years late but what can I say..I am totally in awe of this lakorn…awesome acting by Ann and Ken. This is what I would say a total joy ride from Episode 1 till the end. I love food genres with romance and having KA Team was the icing on the cake.Their chemistry is unbelievable. Such natural acting that it makes you root for the characters. No wonder they are one of the best pairings in Thai drams. One more KA Team Fan 🙂 …Wishing if only they would still come together. Its so rare to find such jewels amongst all the dramas and glad to say this is now on my favorite drama list. And now since I have finished watching this..I don’t know how my life will go on.. 🙁
Do you happen to know where I can watch this drama with English subs?
You can check out Lakorn Galaxy: https://lakorngalaxy.com/soot-sanaeha-2009-a-recipe-for-love/
Thank you so much!
Hi Lovefia, I know this is an old post but have just finished the lakorn and really enjoyed it! The ending scene was funny where Alin and Kru cook interrupted the wedding with their arguing. Then decided to reconcile, get engaged and drive off in the newlywed’s car, haha… I also loved how Alin let Anucha and his mom have it when she found out everything they were doing not just to her but also to her friend and child. Overall, the story was really good and funny.
This is sort of unrelated but I would like to watch the movie, ‘the letter’ with english subs. Do you know where I can download that?
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 The Letter.. that is a tough one to find. Anodchobling subbed it way back when.. might want to try them here https://anodchobling.wordpress.com/2009/01/19/the-letter-eng-subs/
I saw that but link was removed. Oh well, thank you for your response:)
Oh darn, sorry dear.
